I got my 1st tattoo from Irish Ink, last Saturday, courtesy of Ben. I had done a lot of reading about tattoos and everything, so I was a little worried. But, Ben was very patient and walk me through everything several times. He took about 10 or 15 minutes just getting his tattoo area completely clean and sanitized, which showed how professional he was and put me at ease. While getting the tattoo I almost fainted, but he noticed, and gave me a second to get myself together (lol). After it was all over, I was totally satisfied with my custom (because I mostly designed it and he just added a couple things to make it look more like a tattoo) tattoo. While it healed, I called him several times asking a bunch of stupid, "first tattoo" questions. But he didn't get frustrated, he just kept answering them in a professional and respectful way. I recommend anybody wanting to get a tattoo, to get them at Irish Ink. They are more than capable and are very customer friendly.
Review Source:First of all... I notice all the negative reviews are regarding artists who no longer work at Irish Ink, so please everyone keep that in mind when looking for a tattoo shop...
All my (f'ing awesome) tattoos are done by JACOB BRYAN and will be for the rest of my life. Â Between my husband and myself we have probably a dozen or so JACOB BRYAN tattoos, and as I said, they are f'ing amazing. Â Lines are so smooth and clean, none of that botchy connect the dots shit. Â
I love that I can head into Irish Ink and give Jacob the vague-est of ideas for what I want and he somehow reads my mind and draws up the most badass yet beautiful tattoos. Â I am a dainty lady but I do want a smidge of toughness to my tattoos. Â
Bottom line, ignore the haters, they are wrong. Â Go to Irish Ink. Â Ask for JACOB. Â Be happy.
As I was reading the other review posted for Irish Ink, I had to let out a hardy guffaw. The fact that the term "very friendly" was used in correlation to the staff is remarkable. Also, I'm uncertain that "walk ins are welcome." I walked into this shop and asked for a pretty basic tattoo. The artist was clearly irritated, I'm not sure if it was because he didn't respect what I asked him to draw up for me, maybe he hated my face, or maybe he had been up all night huffing glue and was suffering the nadirs of a chemical hangover. Whatever the case may be, he was clearly maddened by my presence. He crumpled up the paper with the design a few times after not getting the drawing right and threw it down. He was rolling his eyes and sighing. He made me feel as though he would have rather been chopping it up with his cohorts in the shop, chewing a piece of wheat, taking a nap, or even laboring over stool , than doing what he was employed to do...tattoo customers. For me, part of the tattoo experience is the interaction with the shop staff. If someone is going to be altering my body forever and blazing through my dermis with steel, I feel there should be some sort of mutual respect. I respect them for their talents and artistic ability, you respect me because I'm a paying customer and a human being. I like to describe what he did to me as "hate tattooing". He tattooed me so fast and so hard, with his jaw clenched and veins bulging out of his neck. It was reminiscent of something you would see an angry goth kid doing to his desk top in middle school with a rusty pocket knife. The end product was a sub-par tattoo and me scuttling out of the shop before that guy busted an O-ring. Don't go to Irish Ink.
Review Source:Well, I tried to get John on board for a custom half-sleeve... his first reply indicated he was all about it, but then he just quit responding to my emails. Last thing I heard, he moved to San Francisco. Very professional, dude. His lack of response definitely left a bad taste in my mouth about this shop's practices.
Review Source:It was my first tattoo and it was going to be a big one. Â The staff was VERY friendly and made me feel comfortable. Â I didn't quite know the questions I was supposed to ask, but they walked me through the process and made me feel at home. Â Jacob Bryan was my artist and he was very helpful and patient. Â He listened to my ideas and worked up some incredible artwork and he even gave me the freedom to tweak minor things in the work. Â I knew I came to the right place when I saw his work and it was exactly what I imagined it should look like. Â I couldn't be happier with the end result and the entire process was very positive!
Review Source:Been itching to get a tattoo? This is a great place to go. Each artist at this shop has their own unique style. Â Each willing to work with you and help come up with an excellent tattoo that will look better than you imagined. Not only are they creative but very friendly. Walk ins are welcome. Jacob Bryan, Ben McQueen, and John Deweese are the permanent artists. Even my 57 yr old conservative father got his first tattoos here over the summer and he keeps wanting more! Also they host guest tattoo artists from around the US.
