I had my lip pierced a month and a half ago at a place in LA and I was furious of the outcome. They really messed up, had no aftercare instructions, used the wrong piercing, hit a vein which bled badly, didn't ask for my ID nor had me sign a consent. I was so bummed about it but then I came across Julhead and heard great reviews. I went in today and they they were just WONDERFUL! Kat and Boge were really helpful and I felt as if they were my long lost friends. I love my piercing and it didn't hurt one bit. I highly suggest them for your body piercing needs. I usually don't post/yelp about anything but I was more than pleased. I just had a huge smile and I had to give these ladies hugs. Thank you so much!

Last Wednesday, I decided i wanted to get my conch pierced on a whim. I yelped places around the SGV and picked this spot based on all the good reviews. I was terrified of the pain because I haven't gotten a piercing in a few years (I have my Tragus, double helix, and belly). I called before coming in and the lady on the phone (Boge) was very helpful and nice so it was a comforting feeling. I came in 20 minutes later and Boge was working by herself and she had a big rush of people come in. I was second in line and even though there were a lot of people, she made no one feel ignored while she was out on the sales floor. When we were in the piercing room, she did not rush at all and made me feel super confident in her. I was still so scared before she pierced me but the while process was so simple! Didn't hurt at all! It was $50.

The first day of the piercing, it didn't hurt at all. However, the second and third day the pain was UNBEARABLE. My ear swelled up like crazy and the pain.... I can't even begin to describe. Let me tell you... Advil was my savior. It would wear off after 3 hrs so I basically took one every 3 hrs. I called Boge to see if it was normal and she reassured me that it will be swollen for about a week. Saturday night I went out drinking and 99% of the pain just went away. Sunday and Monday I feel nothing! Alcohol is a miracle!! Lol jk I don't think they would recommend that as an appropriate aftercare but it worked for me :p

All in all, love this place and I would totally recommend it!

Got my tragus pierced by Boge a couple of days ago. She was super nice, knowledgeable, and professional. My tragus hasn't been giving me any grief and never hurt. No pain whatsoever. What gives. I sort of feel cheated here.

    Love you Boge.

Had an appt. today @ 1 and my piercer was Peter. I seriously loved him!! He was so informational, down to earth, and just all around a great person. You're lucky if you get him. Anyways, I came to get my cartilage done on my right ear -the stud I picked out was $35 & I also bought the Dr. Piercing's Aftercare Swab for about $10 (with the 10% off Yelp check-in) so in total it was around $46, which I felt was totally worth it. Peter made sure I understood everything about the process of piercing my cartilage and the aftercare. Overall, I would most definitely recommend this place to a friend ( I already have haha) and I will be coming back in the near future.

Boge is your ultimate rock and roll soul sister that does piercings.

I was so afraid I would be that one loser on yelp who ended up having to give this place a 1 star with a terrible piercing experience. I am so glad it was the complete opposite of that.

I came in for Boge! I even pronounced her name wrong and she was so cool with it. (Sorry again.) I went in for my nose piercing and let me tell you, I was SO nervous! thankfully, She was like a sister to me during the process. She was so relaxed, funny and she made me feel so comfortable! Boge also tells great stories! She stressed the importance of caring for my piercing and that the shop is just a phone call away if I have any questions.

I came in around 2-3 on a Wednesday and I may have been the only customer there. (Maybe there was another customer in the back.) For anybody who wants their nose pierced, go to her! I can't wait to come back and see her again.

I would give this place more stars if i could. Just came in today for my girlfriend to get her belly button pierced and everything about the store was very nice, clean, and professional. They had lots of rings to choose from and the prices are great considering the amazing job they do. The staff (she had Boge as her piercer) were very friendly & talked her through it the whole time...very funny and excellent at what they do. She could hardly feel the pain and they also do a great job of informing you about how to take care of it afterwards. Overall, great service! Recommend to anyone getting a piercing.

I literally just got home from this place. I love this place. A bit of a drive, but so worth it. I got my lobes and my ring finger pierced by Kat, and she was super helpful and super friendly. She was very welcoming as soon as I walked in the door. She answered all my questions, and made me feel really comfortable. Definitely going back here for more piercings.

Absolutely amazing. I wanted to get a double piercing before I went back to school and wanted my mom with me because I wanted her opinion and support, and she was with me when I got my ears pierced originally. She was not too crazy though about a second hole. At all. We had walked into Claire's the day before, she looked at the people, and said "I don't trust them to pierce your ears". VERY cautious and judgmental.

We walked in here, and Kat greeted us. AMAZING person. She wanted to make sure I knew everything going in, assured me of the process, explained why they use surgical steel over sterling silver, and was the most relaxing person ever. She really knew her stuff! She went to the back to prepare my tray, and I turned to my mom to say "I trust her". "YES OH MY GOSH SO MUCH!!" My mom was in love with her! Kat made my mom feel completely at ease, which is very, VERY hard. Piercing was completely painless, and she kept checking in with me while putting in the earring. Even though another client came in to get a piercing fixed right before I went to get it done, she took her time with me and made sure I knew everything and more.

5 stars to JuL Head, and 5 stars to Kat!!

This is my first ever Yelp review. After years of mooching off the insightful and often hilarious reviews of others--I have decided alas to contribute to the wealth of knowledge that is Yelp.

This place has 5 stars and for good reason. Granted, I didn't have the best piercing experiences in past. The bar was not set very high--I had gotten pierced at Claire's when I was like, 8 and at 16 by a dragon lady in Chinatown (whom I shall not name out of mostly fear). I asked her for two piercings and came out with three but again, I digress.

Bogue pierced my cartilage and she was so amazing. She put me at ease with her casual yet professional demeanor. Not to mention she was super sassy. I understand why this place gets 5 stars. We dove into easy conversation before she said "hey mama, I'm going in" and did the deed. I chose not to buy the salty cleaning spray and she didn't force it on me and gave me directions on how to make my own. In retrospect, I probably should have bought it.

I went back to school in New York and of course, I touched my piercing. I touched it with my dirty, filthy fingers and regretted it only when said piercing began to itch and swell. I casually called up Bogue who asked me to send her a picture text for her to diagnose. She was so helpful and understanding when I probably would have just told my dumb ass to go away (she told me not to touch it like five times after piercing it). Love this place and will definitely be coming back here if I'm seeking another hole in my body.

Everyone at the shop is super friendly/knowledgeable/fun/helpful.

Kat did two piercings for me. My industrial for $50 including jewelry (surgical steel) and my septum for $30. The shop is super clean and professional and Kat did a great job with my piercings! Couldn't ask for anything more!

The jewelry selection is also pretty big and the prices on jewelry are super fair. They don't mark up as much as a lot of other places do. This place is the best I've been to, hands down.

    +Service A++++
    +Procedure
    +Shop decor/cleanliness

I found out about this shop because I purchased a voucher from LivingSocial, and I have absolutely NO regrets! I barely even felt my double helix cartilage piercings after Kat was finished with me! These ladies know what they are doing. Kat and Boge are also both super nice and helpful.

I ended up getting titanium studs ($30 each, which is pricier than the $20 stainless steel) so that my sensitive skin would have less of a chance of a bad reaction to the metal. I recommend titanium piercings if you're worried about allergic reactions or easily irritated skin! I ain't spending $60 to get my ears pierced only to have to take out the piercings and have them close up!!

I'm so happy with my new piercings!! Will definitely be back to be "poked" again soon. :)

My first experience here was back in January. I did a walk-in and had my cartilage and second lobe piercings done. Boge helped me out with paperwork and choosing my jewelry, and Kat pierced me. I wish I didn't go so stingy with money and paid the extra $5 to use the needle for my lobes instead, because that gun was BLUNT. It hurt way more than my first lobe piercings (then again, I was like, 10 when I did that and probably don't remember much lmao) and that hot stinging pain lasted for a few hours. It was probably because of that, that made my cartilage piercing go by so quickly and almost painless. Kat talked me through everything, and also talked to me about school and other stuff, which helped ease my anxiety so much.

A few weeks ago, I came back to get my cartilage redone because the hole had closed up when I took the jewelry out for a school play back in April. I did another walk-in and Kat pierced me again. It went by so fast! Just 1-2-3, in goes the needle, transition to the hoop, and boom. Done! Of course, that shit HURT way more this time because I wanted it repierced where it original was, right into scar tissue. But Kat did warn me about it, so it wasn't that big of a deal, haha. My friend came with me this time around and stood in the corner, watching in amazement. I guess piercings are just really that fun to watch, because when I got off the table, she was like :O I'M SO AMAZED THAT WAS REALLY COOL. Hahaha.

Jul Head, I cannot sing enough praise for you guys. Such incredibly friendly and knowledgable staff, and the prices beat any other store in LA. Everyone has to come here to get their piercings done. Idc how far away you live! Okay maybe just a little. But it's totally worth it! I know I'll always come back here whenever I have a problem or need another piercing fix!

Oh, and another thing, I really praise the professionalism and commitment to doing piercings correctly and safely at Jul Head. If you're underaged, please don't go running off to some scummy place just because they allow minors and the prices are really cheap, because I know all of my friends used to do this in high school.  That just calls for no sanitation and a good risk of infection. There's a reason why Jul Head refuses to do any piercing besides the lobe with a gun. Come in with your parents, and if they won't do it, then just wait it out til you're 18. You'd rather want a Jul Head staffer helping you out with your piercing and giving you all of the proper care you need than have some lousy "piercer" do a half-assed job while giving you zero customer service and a good shot of getting an infection. Just a PSA for all of you kids out there!

TIP: Park in the garage on First Street, the one next to Gen KBBQ. It's a one way-street only due to the library, so you'll have to be coming in from Mission towards Main. The garage is diagonally across the street from Jul Head. Saves you some time if you're not a fan of street parking!

I had high expectations for this place because of all the good reviews and I wish I could give it 5 star but unfortunately, I can't. My sister and I came here to get our 2nd and 3rd ear piercings done. Boge was very kind and funny, I can totally see why people love her. But after she was done, the piercings on both my ears were uneven. One side was higher than the other. Boge had me check the blue dot before she went ahead and pierced it but I guess she moved it up a little. I didn't want to complain about it because it was already done and Boge was so nice that it was impossible to say anything. Other than that, I would say the price and employees were awesome.

If I could give more stars I would.

I came back in April to get a triple forward helix.
Unfortunately, I had "little baby ears" as Boge would say, haha, and having a third was not really an option.  First, I loved her honesty about it not working out well for me, while disappointing at first, I came to accept the idea and am now in love with my double forward. It looks just as beautiful! Second, I just LOVE LOVE LOVE Boge! She made me feel so comfortable before, during, and after the piercing. She joked around with me, teased me about my baby ears (which i just laughed about) and joked that she needed ninja skills to get the job done.
One of the piercings also once done ended up showing, so we had to repierce it at a different angle, but no matter! They care about how the piercing comes out and makes sure it looks perfect! I can always appreciate and respect that about any shop.
I had such an awesome time that I kinda just wanted to linger and hang out for a bit and talk and joke a bit more!
I loved this place so much that when people talk about piercings I always bring up JuL Head! I'm also bringing my sister down to get her ears pierced for her birthday! Way too excited ! :)
I seriously can't wait to come back and get more piercings !

    LOVE YA BOGE!

Okay so to start off, I completely adore this shop! I have gotten most of my piercings here (10 different once) and they all have been WONDERFUL experiences. And that says a lot because I have been pierced by all that work there now (except the apprentice, but that shall be soon hopefully).
Peter, Robert, Boge, and Kata are all AMAZING people. They are honest with you when you go in to ask about a piercing and how it will look on you and will do it if they know how to. They are very professional and will make sure you are comfortable while getting pierced. HECK they even take care of the people that are supposed to be there for moral support (my mom fainted and Peter was to the rescue, thanks again for that d: )
There is no complaints that I can ever have about Jul-Head, the shop is wonderful, the piercings are wonderful, the piercers are wonderful.
Only place I will ever get pierced at from 2011 until time ends!

This place keeps getting 5 stars for a reason. Everything about JuL Head is great! Their service is amazing, and the prices are just as good. I came here a few months ago to get my nose pierced and was greeted as soon as I walked in. The girl at the desk let me walk around the store without bugging, but was nice enough to check up on me to see if I had an questions. After being there a few minutes, I told her I wanted my nose pierced. She was very helpful and introduced me to the piercer right away, I think her name was Andrea? She was also very informative about the process and how to care for the piercing afterward. Both girls had great attitudes and made the experience very pleasant. They recommended a spray they sell for the healing process, and told me once I decided to switch to a nose ring they'd be glad to help me out. I actually went back a few months later and had them switch it for me. I will never go anywhere else for my piercings.

went down to Los Angeles for a mini vacation and knew that I'd want to come down for piercings, hearing that it was a lot cheaper and better. I found this place on yelp and to my surprise, it was right on the corner of the hotel my boyfriend and I were staying at. thus, making it very convenient for us. I forgot to ask the lady her name, but she was super sweet and made sure I was comfortable to the best of her ability. their service is great and very friendly. I would definitely recommend coming here for piercings!

Came here on a Monday after calling for the price and making an appointment 20 minutes right before i walked in. The person whom I spoke to over the phone was Peter and he was able to squeeze me in at the last minute.

I got my navel pierced by Boge, she was also friendly and nice. She marked my navel to where it would be pierced and it looked crooked so I had her redo it. The second time looked good. After the piercing was done, being the perfectionist that I am, it  looked crooked to me but she assured me it was just resting on my belly button and adjusted the piercing. After i left, the piercing moved and it looked crooked again, so it bothered me the whole day to the next.

I came back on Wednesday and talked to Robert. He assured me that it was straight but he could adjust it a centimeter more and gave me the choice of re-piercing it again which I decided to. The second time around, it was excruciatingly painful but came out so much better and to my liking. Robert was so friendly, helpful, and just great overall.

I would have rated it 5 stars but because I had to come back and get it re-pierced with the added pain, I had to deduct.

Just came back to visit LA again this week and came for another piercing. Boge, Kat, Robert and Peter happened to all be there because it was 5o'clock on a Friday afternoon and they were changing shifts. Robert did my belly piercing and it came out Perfect! They were all so nice and fun to talk to, definitely made my time here a great one. I recommended this place to my friend and she said she got pierced by Peter and felt it was a great experience too. Love the jewelry selection because I had so many choices!

Lastly, they really emphasize on how to clean your piercing and the aftercare process. I bought their Provon antimicrobial soap and X-pressions(extra strength aftercare) and I'm noticing its healing really well. Thanks for the tips, can't wait to be back for another!

Ok, This place is pretty good, the staffs are nice and the guy that pierced me is hella patient. I buy all my earrings and get all my piercings here. So far I have my lip, belly, nose, tongue, some random ear piercings and my industrial. The reason I give Jul Head a 1 star is because the guy who pierced my belly pierced it crooked. At the time. he pierced it once, then took it out and pierced it again.. that shit was not cool. I didn't know any better at the time and thought it was straight so whatever. Over time I noticed that every time i wear my belly ring, it would be semi crooked.. My bf isn't too happy with it because he says the scar that it left me is permanent and hes right, i guess it was a minor mistake but it left a permanent scar on me.

Got my daith pierced a month ago and had a great experience. Came back today since the ball on the barbell in my rook fell off. Kat was the only one in the shop and even though it was pretty busy, she was really patient and nice. I picked out new jewelry for my rook. I also ended up getting my right earlobe pierced by her and she did such a great job on making sure I was happy with the placement, erasing the original mark and re-doing it. She took into account that my ears are pretty small so she got me a shorter jewelry bar length to accommodate for my small ear size. SHE IS SUCH A NICE PERSON! I love my new earlobe piercing! Also really glad she gave me the option of a 1-2-3 count before she pierced me so I could anticipate it. LOVE my new piercing! And I will definitely make an appointment with her when I decide to get the other side pierced. :) Thank you!

I called in early to get my helix pierced. It's a good thing I did because I was able to go before the other 2 customers in the shop^^

I was pierced by Peter who was just amazing. He was really friendly and very professional. I was in and out within 30 minutes.

Helix piercing cost $30 including jewelry, which is pretty affordable.

Got my belly piercing from Cat.  She was very comforting, helpful, and informative.  The place was very clean and organized. The customer service was excellent!  They were welcoming and very friendly.  A friend of mine recently got her belly pierced on Venice Beach and she paid the same price I did of $25 and she was not given a choice of which color ring she wanted.  At JuL head you will have many options to choose from.  I definitely recommend this place to get a piercing.

I had been wanting a medusa for a while , so when a living social deal for Jul Head landed in my inbox, I figured it was a sign. Their prices are VERY reasonable, even without the deal. I also read the reviews here and  even though it's a lil bit of a drive, it definitely ended up being worth it. Boge was f*@king awesome. I was a lil nervous, since it had been some years since I had last been pierced, but she totally put me at ease. She had my husband and me laughing our asses off. She took her time figuring out the placement, and the actual piercing process went faster than any of my other piercings. I hate when they just leave the clamp on you forever before  they actually stick the needle thru; it just gives you more time to freak out lol. But she had me pierced and bejeweled with a quickness. She explained all the aftercare instructions, and even told me I could text her a pic of my piercing if I had any questions/issues and she would  call me back, to save me a trip back to the shop since I live so far. I will be back here for any piercings I end up getting in the future.

And to the broad who docked stars because Boge was too talkative...really???  Most people are scared as hell when they go in to get pierced. They appreciate someone who talks them down and gets their mind off of the fact that theyre about to have a needle shoved thru their skin. And then to not leave a tip, after saying she did a good job and you love your piercing?? Wow...where did you grow up that you thought that was ok? Piercers, tattoo artists, anyone that performs a personal service for you, they get a tip. Period.

Is there a 10 star rating? Ive been procrastinating for years on where to find a place to do my piercing that is safe and thanx to living social i found jul head, the review on yelp made me sooooo excited and confident enuf that after i purchased the offer on living social i made an appointment the next day. Went there yesterday for my 2:30 appointment and i just feel so welcome and not creeped out (like any other piercing places) everything is just organize and cool.
I got my triple helix piercing by kat and shes awesome and super cool but never in a minute to forget to ask me if how im feeling and how am i doing(my convo with her made my day too).
Jul head gave me all the proper information on how to take care of my new piercing from the care pamphlet to the healing process which is really important to me especially i work in the medical field. I was just too excited that i was already planning my second helix but then kat told me i should wait until the healing process is over, this place just shows that they are not just up for the money but also for the care of their customer. Totally recommend this places to my friends and to everyone.

I'm planning to come back again for a second piercing. My previous experience is with a gun (10+ years ago), but needle should be an interesting experience since I'm not afraid of needles :)

I don't know how expensive piercing is, but is great to know ahead of time so I could bring enough money to pay and to recommend my crazy friends who gets a new piercing like almost every week.. LOL

BOGE is a body piercer by day and a stripper by night. Yes, I said it! Lol

My best friend and I came here on a whim after checking yelp to get piercings. She got her belly done and I got my rook. I been wanting this piercing for so long but due to prior piercings on the cartilage I was quite hesitant.

Anyway, she used a needle, a long one to do the piercing instead of a gun. She said that way it doesn't seem so sudden and abrupt! Anyway, the pricing depends on what type of ring you purchase: basic or not. Lol which ranges about 5-10 dollars. My rook was about $40 without tip. BOGE deserve the tip, but I wish it was singles because it would be fitting for her night gig. HAHAH!

Venue: a small yet spacious layout. All piercings take place in the back of the shop, the front are displays. There are few display windows that show the different type of rings. Also there are wall art on the walls,  which is very cool! I think one main decor is the Tin Man from the Wizard of Oz.

I went when it was slow, but when we finished our piercings, there were a few people inside. I wouldn't be surprised if this is a popular joint.

Anyway, by the end of your session, you will be informed about proper cleaning and will be given a pamphlet just in case you were not listening or pretending to listen but when you were because you're in pain - so useful and handy!

    GO GET PIERCED!

This place is awesome! I came here for my first piercings - earlobes. I'm deathly afraid of needles and I have zero pain tolerance, so naturally, I was slightly freaked out by the whole process. Thanks to fellow Yelpers, I found JuL Head and gave them a call the day before to make an appointment. Boge was really nice over the phone, patiently explaining to me about a lot of details. When I went in today, Boge attended to me right away and Robert came out to calm me and help me pick earrings. Robert was so humorous and gave me several "pep talks" and stories about his own piercing experiences. They also tolerated the 4 guy friends I brought along for "moral support."

After much researching, I decided to go with the gun ($15 for both ears) because it was quicker and supposedly less "traumatizing." Needles are $35 for both ears. Since I was only doing lobes, I figured it wouldn't exactly rip my skin or shatter my cartilage. After seating me in a separate room, Boge dotted my earlobes with an inked toothpick and spent a lot of time making sure it was perfectly symmetrical and that I was happy with it. Then, she sanitized my ear and gave me the option between her counting down or just not saying anything. I was slightly panicky and indecisive, but she made sure I was comfortable before proceeding and I'm so thankful she did that. I went with her not counting down so she just talked to me about random stuff and did it.

For someone with little or no pain tolerance, I'll be honest and say it hurt. But it wasn't excruciating pain or anything. It was pretty bearable - like a hard pinch. It hurt for at most 10 seconds, but I felt my ears burning up after. She sprayed some sea salt solution after and they felt better. I bought their H2Ocean aftercare spray ($10 for small bottle; $15 for big - I got the latter). My total was around $30 and I was very happy with my experience!

For those who are contemplating piercings, but are afraid of needles or pain, in all honesty, most of the pain is from the anxiety building up to the actual experience, which is not all that bad. Good luck :-)

I didn't get the name of the guy who helped me out today but he was awesome! Seriously. He even put my tragus piercing on for me at no charge even though it had started to close up and may have been difficult to deal with. The other girl there was so friendly, nice, and awesome as well. I bought like three pairs of earrings in one day and I love them all. High quality, simple, and sturdy. Will be coming back again and again to feed my earring fetish!!

Thank JuL head. You guys rock. Keep up the greatness.

This is for Kat! :) I came here today to get my septum pierced on a whim so I was a little scared. But Kat was so funny and easy to talk to that when she actually pierced my nose, it really wasn't that scary :D. She really put my best interest at heart and even reassured me that it's not too late to back out even after I've signed papers and she's opened the sterilized piercings.

The piercing itself was quick, smooth, and clean. It was a tiny pinch and I literally felt nothing after that.

Before I left, Kat and the guy at the register(not sure what his name was, sorry!) reassured me that I could come back if I had any difficulty. They also told me to check back after a month to switch out the piercing if I wanted to! :)

Their friendliness and customer support was phenomenal! I'm shocked that the prices for both their jewelry/service was so low! Best place I've ever been to, I don't think I'll go anywhere else but here to get piercings from now on. :))))
Had I more cash I would have given them more than a $5 tip!
    I LOVE JuL HEAD!

this review is for Boge! she pierced my dimple piercings for me today!! i was so nervous because its not a popular piercing and not alot of places do them, but she did it perfect! I dont know what the hell she did but for some reason it didnt even hurt that bad! or i just psyched myself out before thinking they were gonna hurt like cray. She was SO friendly, and caring, she really took her time to focus on my needs (im a control freak) and she really has an amazing eye! i tried to draw it out where i wanted them, and she just looked at it and can tell they were uneven, so she fixed them and THEN they were even! she really has a gentle hand, and a keen eye. She seriously was made for this! soo amazed at her skill!! Make sure you get Boge!

you can check out my piercing on my instagram :mzmamatsui

First of all let me say this, if you wrote a bad review on this place its probably because you suck as a person and these people don't take that from anyone.
Now that's out of the way... Kat is amazing! She is pro with what she does. She pierces like its an art. She's very passionate with what she does and very knowledgeable with the whole process. The pre work she does is what make everything worth every dollar.

They have reasonable prices. I just went last night with my friend. Called a few hours before booked an appointment, came in I got snakebbites for 45 including jewelry. My lip is not even swollen still! Its like I never got it pierced.  I've had them before so she did awesome with the scar tissue one side of my lip was the third time repiercing and my lip is still fine.  She knows what she's doing

My friend came with me to get her belly button repierced since it got ripped out a year ago. She had some scar tissue..bad scar tissue and it was still a breeze for her no belly button pains or anything

Look you get what you pay for but these people give the best deals for the amount of time they take to prep you and make sure its done right. the spray they have there is worth it better than Listerine. Lil hard to find at first but just look for the bruce lee photo hanging by the window.

I LOVE these people great service and crazy down to earth. Id recommend to anyone! We left an hour later purely because we got along with kat and the boys there so well. Definately ill be coming back n hopefully ull believe me when I say IGNORE THE HATERS ON HERE.

    THIS PLACE IS LEGIT
They know what their doing, pros.
    Reasonable prices.
There going to suggest the best things for u.
Its an experience itself. I may just go by every now and them because I love these people that much!

Long review but its needed to block out those hater one star reviews!

this is going to be short, sweet, and simple:

Boge is awesome, she did a perfect job on my dermal even though i was nervous as hell (i hate needles).  She was so funny and conversational that i almost forgot that she was going to pierce me while she was doing it.  Great peeps, excellent services, and awesome prices for their services and merchandise.

*EXTRA plus she did a perfect job marking where the piercing should go.  It only took her one try to mark my dermal so that it was exactly in the middle between my 2 collar bones.  Remember that i am extra super duper picky and anal so this says a lot!

I'm super cheap with my 5 star ratings so this place is highly recommended!

I decided to spontaneously get a piercing a few weeks before I actually got it. So, in the time between deciding and actually getting it, I freaked myself out completely. However, the employees here were fabulous at putting me at ease. It's a small space; there are many different jewels set out for you to browse, and magazines to flip through while you wait. I spoke to my piercer (damn, I forgot his name), and he explained everything thoroughly. He warned me about the cons of the helix piercing (what I had decided on), but only did so to inform me. after that, we went through jewelry options, and he helped me choose a surgical steel ring after taking a look at my ear.

Since I had made an appointment, I was seen promptly. He sat me down in the room ( it's curtained, thank goodness!) and tried to calm me down by making conversation. He's hilarious! And it was great to hear all the tips he gave about successfully healing it and cleaning it. He definitely quelled my fears, because I had gone alone and this would be the first (other than ear lobes) that I had gotten pierced.  He was very conscientious  about washing his hands (which was a relief, because at least I know it was sanitary) even after he accidentally touched something. He helped me with breathing, and pierced by hand.

    There is only street parking.

If I ever decide to get something else pierced, I'm definitely coming back here!

I decided I wanted a piercing so I YELP'd few places in the SGV to see what I could find.  I'm new to the area, so I really didn't have an idea about where to start.  After reading several reviews I decided to give JuL head a try.  I walked in on a Saturaday afternoon just to get a feel for the place and ask a few questions.  Luckily I was able to get a same-day appointment for later that evening.  Boge & Kat were manning the front and piercing.  They were kind, friendly, efficient & professional.  Both ladies took the time to discuss piercing, jewlery and procedure with me, as well as chat and make me feel at home.  My piercing---left tragus--went super smooth and I am exteremly happy with it.  Nice, clean, down to earth shop, with friendly knowledgable staff & great prices.

Bummer that this place has such a high rating and I'm writing a poor review.

During our lunch break from work, my girlfriend and I showed up at the time this store was scheduled to open, which was 12:30 PM to find the door locked and no one inside.  Due to the great yelp reviews, we decided to wait for a bit.  My girlfriend was standing a foot away facing the front door.  I stood to the right of the door, leaning my right side of my body.  At 12:45 PM, a woman unlocked the door then walk towards the center of the store where another woman was.  It was quite obvious that we were waiting for that particular store to open and the one that unlocked the door didn't have the courtesy to open the door for a client that was obviously waiting because she was late.

After my girlfriend and I gave each other the "wtf" look, we walked in.  The woman who unlocked the door was now standing in front of an old skool answering machine listening to the messages so we waited again.  The other woman seemed to be settling in.  When we were finally greeted, my girlfriend explained that she took her belly piercing out recently and needed it to be pierced again if had closed.  Otherwise, she needed assistance with putting a ring through it.  We were told that the next available appointment was at 3:30 PM because someone was on their way that had an appointment.

Not sure if you're aware but a belly piercing takes 5-10 minutes max.  To check and see if the hole is open would only take 5 minutes max.  The person who was scheduled for that appointment wasn't even there.  Had the store opened in a timely manner then they could have taken my girlfriend.

My girlfriend is a business owner and I'm surrounded by family who are also business owners.  When you're a business owner, make it a priority to be timely.  If the store states it opens at a certain time make sure it is.  Also, treat your clients like you're thankful that they're coming to your business and paying you for your services.  Lastly, open the friggin' door if you see them standing there waiting for you.

If you decide to visit this store, good luck.  Expect to wait because if they made us wait outside, there's a good chance they're not timely.  Also, although it states walk-ins are welcome, you're probably not.

P.S.  Please be sure to read the comment from the business below.  It will help confirm the type of establishment it is.

Do you need a piercing and live in the 626 area? Well, look no further! If you want your earlobes, cartilage, tongue, lip, belly button, etc pierced, Julhead is the way to go! I've been to this establishment roughly 5 times on 5 different occasions, and I must say, this place is awesome.

The workers here are so knowledgeable, helpful, and kind. Getting pierced can be extremely nerve racking--especially for someone who's afraid of needles (me). However, the workers here really try to answer all your questions and make you feel comfortable.

Sure, you can get pierced at the local mall with a piercing gun and pay $10. I mean, that's exactly what I did before coming here to get my cartilage pierced. Unfortunately, that piercing NEVER healed and it was always getting infected even with proper cleaning. I also developed a small bump behind the piercing as well. In the end, I had to take it out. I later learned that cartilage piercings should never be done with a gun. That's why I went to Julhead to have my cartilage repierced.

It's been a year and 4 months since I've had my cartilage pierced. I was too cheap to buy the aftercare cleaning solution that the workers here recommended because I decided that making my own would've been far more economical. After 3 months of making my own sea salt solution, I got lazy and just left my cartilage alone. As expected, my cartilage didn't fully heal. Whenever I slept on it, it would become sore and tender. After I reached the one year anniversary of my piercing, I decided it was time to get it healed once and for all. I went to Julhead and bought the aftercare cleaning solution and now my cartilage is completely healed and bump-free. So to sum it up, just buy the solution--it's better than risking a longer healing period. The solution is a spray so you won't have to make it yourself (good for lazy people, like me ^_^).

I've only gotten my cartilage pierced here but if I wanted something else pierced, I would definitely come back here. Did I also mention that the people here are professional and the establishment is super clean? I really love walking into a piercing parlor without feeling like I'm about to enter a dungeon.

Note: if you check in with your phone on Yelp, you'll get a 10% discount :)

Great piercing place in Alhambra.  Made an appt to see Boge to re-pierce a couple of piercings that had closed up.  She was super -friendly, funny and easy going.  Although I have many piercings (11), I haven't gotten one in a few years, so it was still nice to get a refresher on the process and aftercare - Boge was very informative and thorough.  She also explained that since I might have scar tissue from the old piercings, the new ones might hurt a bit more this time around.  She was right about that - one of them hurt like a bitch as it was done, but the actual piercing process literally last a few seconds, and then it's over.  If you're scared of needles, Boge makes the process as quick and painless as possible, working efficiently and keeping you calm the entire time.

The price is also great.  $55 for the 2 piercings including stainless jewelry.  Can't beat those prices.

I've gotten piercings at a number of different places including the pioneers of piercing, The Gauntlet (which is sadly gone), so trust me when I say go to Jul Head.  You'll be glad you did.

I know Jul Head already has tons of great reviews, I really want to stress how strongly everyone at Jul Heads feels about the aftercare/healing of piercings. One of my friends wanted double cartilage piercings in one go, and Peter refused, saying it wouldn't be a good idea simply because one piercing might affect the other and delay the healing of both. Back in October, one of my friends got THREE anti helix piercings at once at a highly rated piercing shop down in SD, and even now, they're not properly healed.

And that's what makes Jul Head so great. They truly care about their customers, and aren't in it just for the money.

EVERYONE AT JUL HEAD, PLEASE JUST TAKE MY MONEY. I SUPPORT AND LOVE YOU ALL SO MUCH! I wish you all the success in the world with your business! If you guys ever leave me I will track you down and knock on your doors for piercings okay? I'm serious about you guys.

Enough stalker stuff. I'm just really really really serious about this place.

Anyway, I just moved to the bay area, but this is STILL my go-to piercing place. I REFUSE REFUSE REFUUUUUUSE to go anywhere else and make sure to visit whenever I'm back in SoCal. I went in around Thanksgiving because I wanted my nostril pierced, but I was sick and Boge was real honest about the whole idea like, "Seriously it's going to hurt like shit if you're recovering from a cold, blowing your nose and all, and you get your nose pierced". I told her I'd be back to visit for Christmas and she said to come in because she really wanted to pierce me, so I made sure to keep my immunity up for my Christmas visit (I'm not kidding guys, I was seriously doubling up on the emergen-c all week before I came back down).

I went in on the 23rd and by the heavens above Peter was there; I missed his gawjuss face! They were about to close and appointments were lined up, so I made an appointment for the 24th for my nose and nipples. I went in and Boge AND Peter were there :') Excitement ensued, and Boge got her wish of sticking needles in me. (Can I just say I haven't felt so comfortable having a practical stranger seeing my boobs as much as I did with Boge? hahah)

The whole process was great as usual. Everyone's so easy to talk to about anything and it makes the time go by (and keep your nerves calm). Boge and I talked about our mutual hate over Rihanna's "Diamonds", and one by one my nipples were pierced, followed by my nose. I love how strategic she was about the placement of all my piercings. I've seen TOO many nipple piercings that are just so off centered and wonky, but lemme tell you (because I don't think Yelp policies will allow me to show you?) my nips look fantastic! And so does my nose!

Another thing I REALLY love and appreciate is the stress on aftercare and recommending the necessary products. For instance, Boge straight out told me "Nipples are a really sensitive area, and if there's ANY piercing I recommend getting titanium rings with, it's nipple piercings", and I definitely did get titanium because if a professional is going to give me advice like that, why wouldn't I take it.

As far as aftercare, (flashback to a past piercing experience) I had an industrial done a few years ago at a different place and after I got it done the piercer was like "So you know what to do right? Cool. We have this stuff called h2ocean but you don't need it or anything, you can just use like, saline solution" so I took those words of 'wisdom', and wouldn't you know it my industrial started to get a keloid kind of thing. I was able to get rid of it after finding aftercare tips, but I decided I'd never go back to that place.

But! at Jul Head I can tell they're not just trying to throw all the products they can at you, or send you without the proper aftercare knowledge. I know their hearts are in this and they're really just trying to make sure your piercing turns out the best it can. When I had my septum done (BOOO I'm pouring a 40 on the ground to my septum piercing, I don't have it anymore :( ) it healed up so nicely with the aftercare instructions and products from Jul Head. With that said, I now swear by H2Ocean and Xpressions (which they have in store).

Guys, I can't stop talking about this place or the people who work there.

I LOVE ALL OF YOU, I swear you all feel like family. Your personalities are so real, warm, and welcoming, how could anyone Not love you all?

    Happy holidays :)

One day, on a whim, I decided I wanted another piercing. Because why not? When I strolled in on a Friday afternoon, the place was practically empty, minus the few high schoolers browsing the jewelry selections. I decide on a cartilage piece, picked out my jewelry, signed a form, and sat down for a split second before Peter emerged from behind the curtains to help me to the back room.

The whole procedure was quick and painless. Peter made for good conversation, handed me a mirror, asked me about placement of jewelry, talked me through the happenings, and my nerves were quite at ease for the duration of the prep and puncturing procedure. With an inhale and an exhale, and an inhale and an exhale, the needle went in and the jewelry followed, and that was that. After, Peter was very detailed, and sounded like he knew his stuff--even dabbling into the scientific--as he explained aftercare.

Overall, the experience was pleasant, professional, and rather inexpensive! The folks are friendly, and the shop layout/design is quaint. Keep your eyes peeled if you're looking for the place though; I nearly passed it while walking down the street in search of the shop.

When I first researched on the proper way to get a piercing and heard that needle is the best way to go... I kind of low-key freaked out! LOL I imagined shady parlors with scary people, but that is the complete opposite. (I feel so sheltered and dumb now, haha..)

I am so glad Yelp is here and I am VERY glad that so many Yelp-ers helped me out with picking a place to get poked at.

First of all, keep in mind that Jul Head is solely a PIERCING parlor--no tattoos or anything else. I'm not saying that just because a tattoo parlor does piercings, it makes them really bad or unsanitary or anything--they are awesome too! I just found it comforting in my mind that this place specializes in all sorts of piercings--it put me at ease (I'm extremely paranoid and a big worry wart).

I made an appointment at 1 pm on a Saturday for a helix (many know it as a cartilage) piercing and was met by Boge (or Andrea) at the front desk. She is SUPER funny and willing to answer any questions you may have! I was a little early for my appointment and there were still two people in the store just buying some earrings so she made sure that they were good to go before helping me. She told me she wanted to focus full attention on piercing me and that was another point in my book, haha!

I chose a titanium labret stud because my ears are super sensitive and bought the cleaning spray (I suggest you buy it... it's called h2ocean spray) and the total came to around $42. That's really inexpensive for high grade jewelry, the piercing fee, AND the solution. I can only imagine how much it would have been with stainless steel jewelry (a good option if your ears aren't crazy sensitive like mine).

They are very clean over there at Jul Head, and Boge sanitized my ear with two kinds of sanitizers--I don't remember their names. She was so considerate and made two marks on my ear; she told me which one she liked and I went with her suggestion just because she can see my ear fully and I can't haha! (Also... who wouldn't want to trust an expert?!) They are totally open to wherever you want the piercing, so don't be afraid to speak up.

I was pretty scared and although I think I have a pretty high pain tolerance, I had never gotten anything pierced through my cartilage before. Needless to say... it really wasn't all that bad! The pain happens for all of 3 seconds and it's gone. I will say that I heard my cartilage crunch though... but a needle is going through there so why wouldn't you hear it go through? I don't even remember the pain but I will say that it is sore and stings afterwards. BUY the H2Ocean spray there or get some on Amazon for a cheaper price before you go get pierced. That cleaner has saved my life some days because I honestly do not have enough time to mix a solution, soak my ear, and then clean up after myself. The spray is awesome and will make your healing process, provided you are consistent, a breeze.

I waited to write this review around a month after my piercing because I wanted to see how well my cartilage heals and I am happy to say that it is on its way to recovery. :) The first couple of days after I got it pierced it would bleed when accidentally knocked (normal) and it randomly bled and dripped one day. When I called Boge up at Jul Head panicking for advice, she gave me some and told me that I needed to go in soon if the bleeding kept on happening (praise the Lord it stopped).

All in all, if you have made it to the end of this long review then CHOOSE JUL HEAD! They are excellent in service, technique, and quality.

I went there this Veteran's weekend. I was upset that the places in San Diego were so expensive and it was far since I live on Campus (ucsd).  Then I stumbled upon Jul Head on yelp (since I went home for the long weekend). It had a lot of reviews and when I went there it was kind of weird. I was like it's next to the ice cream sign, (my friend drove me at night so it was hard to find) It was a small place, but spacious so I didn't feel like it was a sketchy ghetto place. IT WAS CLEAN and had displays of their jewelry. so I signed the paperwork, which is nice (knowing it's legit) and they made a copy of my i.d to make sure I was 18. (that's always comforting to know they follow the rules)

BELLY PIERCING: The actual procedure. I stood up, lifted my shirt for the marking, laid down. Breathed in and let out when my piercer Boge (sp?) told me to. IT WAS SUPER QUICK AND ALMOST PAINLESS. She was awesome, she talked me through it and made me feel more comfortable. I was seriously scared shitless (she told me that). So glad I had her talk me through it!

Also the service was amazing I got there at like 6:45pm and I was a walk-in. They didn't have anyone till 7pm so I just waited a little, and they got me in immediately b.c the next appointment was 7:30pm.
I was lucky and they were very polite and explained that appointments are a priority. (That's a comforting thought and nice to know for the next time)

TOTAL COST: 25$ (piercing and ring included) +2.19$(tax) = 27.19$
upgrade to diff kind of ring costs more.

I MEAN COME ON, it was cheap, quick, painless, and good service. ALSO THE SUPER PLUS WAS THAT IT IS ONLY 5-10 min away from my friend's house.
ALSO MAIN ST HAS A BUNCH OF FOOD PLACES AND FUN THINGS TO DO, so it's a nice place to be in, in general.

CURRENTLY taking care of it is hard, since it's 3 times a day of soaking.
1/4 tsp sea salt (not iodized?) with 8oz of distilled water.
You can get this at Walmart, Ralphs, drug stores, etc.
You can change the belly ring after two months and you clean it for 6 months (3 times a day)

If it's still red for a few days, it's normal since it's fresh and takes a long time to heal anyways. If there is a slight dark ring it could be the marker or dried blood from your fresh piercing.

I AM SO GLAD I FINALLY GOT IT, I was so scared and now it was like pfft I was such a dummy. I think I've heard the less fat you have in your belly area, it will be easier and lessen the pain? Idk don't take my word for it, I google a lot when I have questions

Clean, professional, super affordable, and definitely friendly service :) So far everyone I've talked to that works here are very helpful whenever you got some questions for them. I always recommend my friends to come here to get their piercings 'cause I've always had a great experience whenever I visit (getting something pierced, watching my friends get their piercings, or buying jewelry). The first piercing I got here was a tragus and everything went by smoothly! Ah, I wish I remembered the guy's name that pierced it for me 'cause he was pretty cool and did an awesome job. I am so happy every time I come here! Robert and Kathleen are so amazing and they have the best taste in music. I love walking in and hearing Florence + the Machine :) They helped me out so much and make everything less frightening. They also inform you as much as possible and they are so sweet and funny!

A couple months ago, I went in to get my industrial done. Everything was so relaxed, clean and professional. It went great and I was incredibly happy with it, but sadly after about a month I had to take it out because my hair kept getting caught on it :(

I came back to get it opened again yesterday but they told me I should probably wait a little so it can completely heal and I agreed and left with my helix pierced instead. I was really happy with my helix too! They were great in helping me decide what to get as an alternative and both times my piercings were done at super affordable prices.

I do want to get my rook really soon (I just don't know how long I should wait for my helix to heal?)  and possibly next summer I can get my industrial. NO DOUBT ABOUT IT, I'm coming here!!! :)

Okay, maybe it's just me, but sometimes I find myself bored with nothing to do and I do "weird" things like dye my hair. Or pierce my nose.

I was in such a mood back in April when I decided to stop by JuL head. After perusing Yelp for piercing shops more within my budget (most figure anywhere between 60-90+), I came across them and their 1 dollar sign. Yay! So I got my gals and we drove out the 15 miles to Alhambra from L.A.

Upon arrival, we found this fine establishment PACKED with kids getting piercings. We walked around while waiting our turn, and 20 minutes later we were signing consent forms.

When we went to the back, we were greeted by Peter who is LITERALLY THE NICEST PERSON IN THE WORLD. He made this experience so much easier for us. As much as I love doing new things, I have to admit that when it came down to it I was kinda pussying out at the prospect of having what looked like a 3 inch wide needle going through my nose! He let my girls go first. One got a rook piercing, the other an industrial piercing and it took less than 10 minutes.

When it was my turn, Peter sat me down and told me to breathe. He made small talk to calm my nerves and asked me about myself & vice versa while he prepared his equipment. A few minutes later he got his sterilized needle, positioned it, and put it through my nasal septum.

And it didn't hurt! Peter made it virtually painless.

There was a small hitch with my septum piercing. Since I have a slightly deviated piercing, it came out looking slightly crooked, or so Peter told me. He took the ring out, straightened it, and re-pierced a second hole. I appreciated the gesture because I surely would have noticed a crooked piercing and by him taking an extra minute to fix it he saved me a trip back to the shop.

About 45 minutes after my arrival I was the proud owner of a septum piercing. Since I opted for the SS ring, as they didn't have the titanium ring in the gauge I  wanted, the total cost of the piercing with jewelry and an after care spray: $45

45 dollars guys! Many other shops would have charged me upwards of 70 bucks. Believe me, I asked around. My piercing healed perfectly afterwards and it didn't get infected. The job Peter did was just as good as any of the other places I could have chosen, and he didn't charge me an arm and a leg. So worth the drive.

I strongly urge you to go to JuL head if you're in the market for a new piercing. I would definitely go back were I to choose to get another piercing in the future. Thanks Peter!

P.S. The needle wasn't really 3 inches, I was exaggerating.... Duh.

I guess I have more good things to say about this place!

After getting my cartilage pierced in January, I took it out a week or so ago and couldn't get an earring back into it.  I went in today and explained what had happened.  I didn't catch her name, but the lady in the front, brought me to the back right away and took a look at the piercing.  With the triple-sterilized equipment, she helped the earring find its way back through the hidden hole in my ear.

Not only did she do all of that for free, but she used a new earring as well!

I'm just so amazed at the generosity and great service that Jul head has!

This place is AMAZING. I just got my navel pierced today by Boge and she was very helpful! I cannot believe how great these prices were too.  Other places I saw cost 60 or 90+ but this place for a titanium ring navel piercing, it only cost 35!
I would definitely recommend this place to anyone who wants to have a good piercing at a very affordable price.

One of my ear lobes had closed up and I couldn't find the other end of the hole and I did not want to go with the "just ice it to numb it and repierce it yourself!" suggestion. I'm old enough to get things done right dammit. Apparently going to Claire's to have it pierced is not doing it right as everyone was telling me. Then again the last time I got a piercing was by a teenager on the side of the road in Taiwan. So...

Anyway, the girl on the street in TW was nice but so were the people here! I was really annoyed because I called the first time before I came in and they told me they may or may not be able to fit me in so I drove all the way to Alhambra and then they told me that the appointment walked in 5 min after I called so they couldn't fit me in anymore. Really? You couldn't have called me back to tell me that?

But it was cool since they more than made up for that minor inconvenience and gave stellar service. The piercing was done quickly and healed beautifully. When I lost the ball to the stud, they gave me a new ball and cleaned my ear and replaced it for me. This place is especially great if you've never been pierced or are jittery about needles since they seem to go out of their way to be friendly and make you feel comfortable and help you with aftercare.

I had such a positive experience here I'm seriously considering repiercing my belly button or piercing an eyebrow.

Boge is a great piercer and they have many selections to choose from. The employees give their opinion in how a piercing will look on you and they give good advice.

5 stars for an amazing first cartilage piercing experience.

My friend and I decided a few days ago to stop by and finally get our first cartilage piercings. All 8 of the piercings between us had been done at Claire's and inevitably gotten pretty gross infections, so I decided to do my research this time and pick a nice, welcoming and most importantly..sterile piercing parlor.

Street parking in 'downtown' Alhambra was fair: free 1 hour until 6PM, and after that unlimited. We quickly found parking 2 minutes from the store. We walked inside and were greeted by the receptionist (didn't get her name and couldn't find it in the reviews, sorry). She was very accommodating to us and helped us make appointments for the day of (next time will definitely call in ahead) and explained to us the standard piercing jewelry gauges and pricing for the jewelry in the shop. The shop decor was very nice and spacious, with a lot of jewelry in glass cabinets around the walls.

We popped into a cute dessert shop across the street until our appointment, and returned just in time for Boge to pierce our ears! It looks like from the reviews that Boge was an apprentice at the shop not so long ago, but she was definitely amazing and I never would have known. We went behind a red velvet curtain into the back of the shop which was definitely a lot more cramped than the front.

Store policy is 30 minutes / appointment, which seemed a little excessive to me at first but Boge was so thorough with our piercings that I was really grateful for the extra time. She prepared her sterile piercing tray beforehand, laid us down, and basically calmed us down by being hilarious. She didn't touch anything outside of the sterile materials with the gloves she had on (I'm pretty anal about that stuff) and pierced us in the perfect spots. I had my rook done and my friend had a helix. My rook barely hurt--just a lot of pressure (A LOT) and the expected pain, but not bad at all! She took her time cleaning up the blood on our ears and making sure we were okay before we sat up. I think we only spent about 30 minutes of our hour, and we ended up just chatting afterwards until her next customer. She instructed us on proper aftercare and what (not) to do so we were good to go!

Awesome care, and another thing that was awesome about the store was pricing! My friend's helix (done with surgical steel) was $20. My rook started at $40 but I opted to get it with implant grade titanium (+$10) because my ear is high maintenance like that. The jewelry we got ranged from 2 for $10 to 2 for $15--much better than I expected, so of course we stocked up.

My only regret is that we totally forgot to tip Boge--I felt so bad afterwards because I had an amazing time and she went out of her way to help us with our first cartilage piercings!! So naturally I decided to write a review, because Boge did such a great job and I'll definitely be back for her to help me switch out my jewelry/maybe more piercings?! Will definitely tip triple next time because it was such a great experience!

I'm a baby when it comes to needles and piercing, but Peter really calmed my nerves and made the process as easy and quick as possible. I had gotten a piercing when I was younger and I thought it closed up so I came in to get it repierced. Peter, instead of just going for the repiercing right away, tried for a while to be completely sure that my last piercing was closed up. He said he didn't want me to be wasting money if i didn't have to! What a honest guy :') The two piercings, earrings, and a bottle of spray only cost me under $30!

Though I had a flawless experience with Peter, I took a friend in here to get pierced as well and it didn't go as well. She was pierced by some girl (I don't remember her name) who actually pierced the wrong place! My friend asked for a piercing 3/4 of the way up her ear but ended up with piercing literally right in the middle. Make sure you reiterate a few times where you want your piercing done if you don't have Peter LOL

JuL head is hands down my new favorite place.

I got my tragus pieced here back in December. The girl at the front desk was super friendly and made me feel comfortable. After researching my tentative piercing, I was nervous of pain or 'popping' in my ear. However, my piercer, Peter, made my nerves go away in an instant! He is hilarious and great to talk to. He eased my pain, even though it hurt a bit, I didn't mind.

Six months later, I lose the ball to my jewel and felt like it was the perfect time to switch it anyways. They have an awesome deal on jewelry (2 for $10!!) Again, the front desk girl was really helpful and attentive. Peter was working again and even helped me put my piercing in.

Customer service here is incredible! I wish I knew about this place sooner. They have great deals and a wide selection on jewelry. Big plus, I got a free jewel on the house!! Thank you guys so much!

    I think I'm addicted. o.O;

I've always been a big baby when it comes to piercings so when I decided that I would be suck it up and FINALLY get my second lobe piercings I did my research. Good ol' Yelp directed me to this place and boy, am I thankful for the awesome yelpers that reviewed this place!

They made me feel SO COMFORTABLE during the entire process (even after accidentally seeing the needle and freaking out). Peter (gosh I hope I'm remembering correctly after surviving 8 finals) was amazing. Super knowledgeable and realistic about what will and won't work for you. We had a bunch of good laughs and some pretty amazing conversations during my appointment.

The two lobe piercings cost $35 and I got the large cleaning solution with 15% off thanks to my Yelp check-in. Definitely worth the price considering the AMAZING service.

Definitely coming back to get one of my old piercings (ripped a long time ago so it's uneven with the other side) fixed and potentially for a 3rd lobe piercing!

(sidenote: YAYY THIS IS MY 250TH REVIEW!)

I'd say the most redeeming thing about Jul Head is that they are cheap!!! and friendly!!  I must say, when I first walked in, I was kind of wary because the two at the front seemed so wrapped up in their conversation to really acknowledge me.  Once they saw me, though, I felt very welcome.

They have a large variety of jewelry, much more than the place I went to in Pasadena and at a much more affordable price.  They don't push you to buy anything, which is nice when you don't need it.

I got my cartilage pierced, and she was very professional about it, explained everything before and while she was doing it, gave me a mirror so I could watch, and explained the cleaning process, though really you don't need sea salt or special solution; a thorough 5-10 minutes in running water daily should be sufficient.  All in all a great experience, I'd definitely come back for whatever else I felt needed piercing in the future!

I've been here twice with two different groups of  friends. I love the woman in the front. She's hilarious and make  you feel comfortable. The last time I went was around 7:30 on a Monday night. They make all their customers feel welcomed and it's not awkward whatsoever. The guy in the front desk came over to my friends and asked if we needed any help. He gave great suggestions on which earrings would look best on my friend. Because he's dark skinned, he suggested the black earrings. What a great move because after he was pierced, they looked great. The service is amazing and I'm just in love with the staff.

P.S. : Heads up, if you go around the closing time and there is a line, suggest on rescheduling because they are starving. They work all day and don't have any time to eat and the only time they can is when the store is closed.

The pricing is quite reasonable. My friend got his ear's pierced with a gun for about $15 and with a needle, its around $35.

    Highly recommended.

I've been pierced a few times before, but I have to admit I was nervous about getting my nipple pierced. After reading a few reviews on yelp I decided this might be the place for  me. I showed up and the receptionist was super friendly and helpful. It was already a really great atmosphere and my nerves were finally beginning to chill out.

Peter was my piercer and right from the get go he tells me he's gay, so I wasn't too uncomfortable being half naked. (I have a friend who got the same piercing, but didn't have the luxury of getting it done by an uber friendly gay guy. Nightmare. Just sayin'.) Before any holes were poked, Peter gave me a quick rundown of the piercing process and answered any and all of my questions.

We chatted a while about life then BAM! I was pierced before I knew it! Peter was incredibly helpful and hilarious throughout the entire process. It was honestly the best piercing experience I've ever had and I'm definitely coming back here for my next one!

I'm very happy my friend had me to go to Jul head to get my piercing! It's been about a month since my cartilage piercing and no infection or problems! It was also really cheap, think only $20? For a cartilage piercing and they don't use a gun for it.

Peter and Robert are the store owners and are suuper friendly and nice. I feel like they can talk to anyone about pretty much everything. That being said pre piercing jitters definitely went away since they make you feel so comfortable. They're open to any questions and tell you if you have any problems go back to them and they'll take care of you.

My friend was pierced by Peter and I had Robert another day. We just walked in for both piercings, no appointment needed. Both were very professional when it came to talking about the piercing and after care, emphasizing how important it was to clean it. They were both very sterile in everything, wore gloves and mask and sterilized the ear.

They also give you the option of using an anesthetic on the piercing to reduce the pain, yes pleasee I'm such a baby. After your piercing you get to sign their wall too! Though there's not much space left so better hurry on in before it's completely full!

I was a nervous bundle as I walked into Jul Head. For some odd reason, I decided since I was in CA, I needed to get a piercing! WOOHOO! I mulled over it for 3 days and finally my friend picked me up and dragged me here and told me I was getting one. Oh dear goodness.

But the girl at the front was super knowledgeable and nice and did not push anything on me. She answered all my questions and reassured me that I could talk to the piercer as well if I had any more.

When I met my piercer, he asked which of us would be going first?
I asked him: well, I'm pretty nervous. Should I watch and will it make me feel better?
    Him: You're going first.

    Oh gawd.

Piercing process begins... and minutes later, I'm done! It was such an awesome/exhilarating experience that I almost asked for another one on the spot. Haha.

I ended up paying about $35 for my tragus and around 10$ for the medicated cleaner. Such good service that I kind of want to save all my piercing wants for anytime I'm in CA to go back to Jul Head!

    Service: 4.5
    Price: 4
    Cleanliness of bathroom: n/a

One of my best friends came to town. We, she and I, manage to do things I sometimes regret the next day. Getting this piercing was not one of those things. Neither was the at-home hair dye that I tried...... surprisingly. (I was sure I would either end up bald or with the oh-so-attractive-on-Asians blond hair.)

    Oh right, the piercing.

The employee behind the counter with colorful hair (sorry, I didn't catch your name) was so helpful in answering all my friend's questions. She had many since it was her first "irregular" piercing.

The piercer was friendly; though when he first came out, he was talking to a friend of his and wasn't as attentive. But he'll talk you throughout the process if you wish and make sure the piercing is exactly where you want it by marking the location with washable ink.

Clean parlor, sterilized tools, great explanations: everything went smoothly. Definitely recommend.

Hands down THE place I will go from now on for any future piercings!  Not that I've had a bad experience at other places, but Jul Head is definitely affordable and offers amazing friendly service.  I love the people here! :D

A few weeks ago, I tried out Jul Head based on all the great reviews this place had on Yelp.  I had been considering getting a second earlobe piercing and a cartilage piercing on my right ear for a while..  The two earlobe piercings were $35 (w/ the needle) and the cartilage was $20.  The earlobe piercings would be $15 if you use a gun, but I prefer the needle since it's less trauma to the ear (I figure three new piercings is trauma enough for them :P).

Boj is an awesome receptionist who made me feel at home and answered clearly any questions I had about the cartilage piercing, which I was a little nervous about.

I don't remember the name of who did my piercing, but during the whole process, we basically chatted and laughed about random topics which really helped to distract from the momentarily pain of a needle getting pulled through my ears.

For the cartilage, you can opt to use anesthesia.  They use the really good stuff so my cartilage piercing actually hurt less than the earlobe piercings!

Afterwards, Boj even sold me the large solution bottle for the price of the small one. Sweet! :)

I went into JulHead after a few months of having my tragus done.  I got my tragus pierced at Prix on Sunset, and ended up paying $80.  I didn't know general piercing prices so I just paid it, and hoped other piercing would be cheaper.  JULHEAD ONLY CHARGES $20 FOR A TRAGUS PIERCING.  Needless to ay, their prices are incredible.

I happened upon JulHead by searching for piercing parlors closer to Pasadena so I didn't have to drive to LA.  I called and was told that the owner, Peter, would be out of the shop at 4, and he was the only one that was able to do my rook.

I ended up at the shop at about 5:30.  He selflessly stayed and waited to pierce me.  My friend and I got clean, painless piercing (my rook, and her anti-tragus).  He explained every process, every antiseptic, and the reasoning behind everything he uses and does.  Every regulation was followed and detailed.

Now, some people may be turned off by the fact that he only pierces with basic surgical steel or titanium jewelry, and not the fancy jewelry they want.  Let me tell you, that my rook, pierced with titanium, healed about 10x faster than my tragus with the fancy jewelry.  Please do not be turned away by this fact, and just know that Peter is there to help you heal faster and maintain your piercings as long as you can.

Also, Peter and Robert, the piercers, are hysterical to converse with.

What sets them even more apart from other parlors: THEY CARE.  They will NOT pierce someone if they feel they may get infected (i.e. they will not pierce your rook and cartilage within two weeks of each other).  THey are incredible.

I'm so happy that I was recommended to this store by my coworkers! It is kind of easy to miss but it's on 1st and main right next to the coldstones and starbucks.

It's an independent business owned by two very radical, friendly, down-to-earth kind of guys--Robert and Peter! (: They're both really chill and you can tell by all the regular customers they get that drop by just to chit chat with them, check out sales and new merchandise - example? a few of my coworkers as well as myself! :D

    They have a wide selection of merchandise from tapers to plugs (of all sizes!), lip rings to belly rings, shoes to shirts. They also provide the service of piercing nearly everything; they just recently started doing implants too! They constantly get new products so be sure to check them out every so often! you'll soon become a regular yourself ! (;

I'd recommend anyone to Jul Head over Hot Topic or anywhere else any day.

ps. they take credit cards and they also have gift cards you can get for your buddies too!
