Our family came to Maui to Celebrate my wife's birthday and visit our brother and his family. He introduced us to Sam. Sam from Last Port is one of the good guys. He was funny, professional, and a fantastic artist. If you are on Maui you gotta come here. We both got great tattoos and had a great time.
Review Source:Let me first say, I'm not a tattoo expert, but I've gotten 3 big tattoos including here at Last Port. Â 1 back piece in Idaho, half a sleeve in Guam, and have a chest piece here. Â I initially was dead set on going to Atomic based off reviews and actually went there to talk to them. Â When I described what I wanted, I did not get the warm fuzzies that who was available to do it, was capable of delivering. What I was looking for was a Polynesian tattoo commemorating me and my family. All 3 are tribal by nature heavily Polynesian influenced mixed with ancient Filipino Babayin writing. Â
I happened across LPT reading reviews here and plus it was around the corner from where we were staying.  As soon as we walked in, we were greeted by Sam, the owner,  and the one who did  not only my chest piece, but a wedding ring for my wife and I.  His welcoming personality, interpretation, and understanding of what I wanted to do, instantly sold me.  On top of it, his appreciation for Filipino culture was evident when he would talk to his dog in Tagalog, albeit limited, he did it.  Definitely gave me the islander fuzzies!! Â
The tattoos turned out great and I am definitely coming back to see him again. Heads up, he accepts cash only but that's minor and not an issue  if you can't spare cash, then maybe you should be paying off your debt instead anyways!!
Sam, thanks again pare and hope to see you soon!!
Mahalo.
If your looking for that friendly island spirit at a "local" tattoo spot look no further! I was looking for a local spot to get my husbands initials tattooed on me while we were honeymooning. I first stopped by Sweet Trade because it had a ton of yelp reviews but it defiantly wasn't what I expected.. The guy was cold and pretty full of himself, he was going to charge me over $100 for two initials then started  to trash talk the "new shop that opened up down the street" he was saying it wasn't going to last long blah blah.. That made me want to check out the other shop even more! Thank god I did, Sam was super nice and inviting not to mention he has the sweetest dog ever!!! He really makes you feel at home and is extremely talented, you can tell he's not just trying to make a quick buck.. He really enjoys the art of it. I'm so happy with my newest tattoo! If your vacationing in the area and looking for some ink defiantly go to Sam, you'll have a awesome tattoo and create a great memory! Thank you Sam!!!
