**This review is for Dion, who apparently has the MAGIC TOUCH**
Came in here about a year ago to get my nose re-pierced. Twice before, I've gotten it pierced, and twice before had to take the jewelry out and let it close because of constant infections and keloid scarring. I didn't have the highest of hopes that this piercing would be any different but I had the scar on my nose anyway and wanted to try hiding it with a little stud again. Dion did the piercing and was very professional and polite, bearing with me when my nose decided to pour blood all over the place in a most embarrassing display of ick. It's been a year and aside from a brief initial infection caused by my taking the piercing screw out too soon and probably not disinfecting the replacement bone well before putting it in, I have had NO issues in an area that has been notorious for issues. That's the magic touch #1.
A couple of weeks ago, I made an impromptu appointment with Dion to have some coloring-in done on a large tattoo that I started two years ago but still isn't finished. Four hours passed like it was nothing. I even had him touch up some older tattoos that were starting to lose their luster. Dion uses a rotary machine, so it was a really quiet four hours (aside from conversation) that seemed to just fly by. He corrected some color issues in the original work that had been bothering me, too. The amazing thing here, though, was the healing. I have a lot of experience with tattoos and this was the best heal time EVER. No scabbing, no problems whatsoever. I *always* scab (I think it is because I am prone to keloid scarring). Not this time. That's the magic touch #2.
Oh yes, I would be remiss without mentioning that he is VERY easy on the eyes. My, is this man handsome. I have a personal preference of NOT being worked on by the type of guy I would cringe at if my daughter brought home. I also prefer being worked on by someone that is older than some of my tattoos - some of which are definitely older than the majority of people who will read this review, no doubt.
And speaking of my daughter, the highest compliment I could pay someone in this business is having the utmost confidence in trusting them to work on my offspring. Yes, Girlspawn has an appointment with Dion, who is currently working on designing her next piece. I'm sure it will be awesome.
Random observation: while I was here for the tattoo, I can't count how many calls and walk-ins were related to fixing things done by other places.
This place has ruined my back and my ankle. Total hack jobs and on top of it I found out I was over charged. Do your self a favor and stay away from no talent dirty shops like this. Maximum tattoo in Deerfield has fixed and saved all my tattoos! Thanks to them I have beautiful tattoos! Â I would give this shop zero stars if I could!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Review Source:Dion is by far the best piercer! He was very knowledgeable and made me feel as comfortable as I could be. He answered all the questions I had about my piercing. Then he explained in detail about the aftercare and what to expect. The piercing room and equipment were very clean. Great experience, I will never go anywhere else or to anyone else, Dion 's the best!!
Review Source:My first tattoo at Liberty was in 2010. It was my first tattoo ever, but the artist was very nice, explained everything very thoroughly and gave an excellent price. I was a walk-in that day, with only a pen-drawn sketch on the back of an envelope of what I wanted. Needless to say he was very gracious and sketched it out for me right away and I was tattooed and done within an hour. It was on my left hip and a great "first tattoo". I had a very good experience.
I had my second tattoo done here as well in February 2012 by Seth. He did a great job customizing my tattoo, which transformed from my own shitty drawing on a piece of paper to the gorgeous full back piece of my dreams. It's going to be part of my grand plan for myself, which I will certainly be coming to Liberty Tattoo for, in particular Seth, who really impressed me with his ability to capture exactly what I was looking for. Eventually I will have a full back, shoulder on both sides, my hips and both sides of my torso (possibly... I hear that's painful, then again I did pretty well with getting my hip and spine tattooed). I can't think of anyplace better to get my work done.
Miscellaneous: I had my eyebrow pierced at the Antioch location in 2011, they did a fantastic job, I had since had to remove my facial piercing because of my job, and I miss it dearly.
I had wanted to get a  Monroe piercing at the Libertyville location, as one pissy chick reviewer on here likely had tried to do, and upon not being able to get what she wanted, threw a toddler tantrum. The place the piercing would sit, on my face, would cause the piercing to protrude instead of having it nestle nicely and flatly against my skin. The ridge of the skull bone right over my canine tooth would be pushing it up.
I am a nurse and have an understanding of human anatomy, I understood what their reasoning was. They didn't want to rip me off by taking my money and doing the piercing, only to have it look stupid later. I personally greatly appreciated their honesty as I didn't want to go through the expense and the long healing process only to see my piercing jutting out and looking bogus. Not all studios care, in fact many don't care and will pierce whatever you want since if it looks bad or won't lay the way it should on your face, that's your problem, the moment you walk out of the place the piercing is out of their hands. A classy place would rather lose an easy 100-120 dollars, and apparently lose one endlessly menstruating customer - good riddance, less of a wait for delighted customers such as myself.
*this post is regarding getting piercings done at Liberty Tattoo*
i've realized that in order to get a job as a body piercer here, one must go through a series of steps: the first one is to kind of know how to do piercings, the second one is to shove a five-foot scolding pole encrusted with glass up your ass, and the third is to act like a complete jerk to people who have gotten piercings elsewhere and need help/consultations.
I have been visiting this shop for 2 years to either get piercings or ask questions about complications with piercings, and i pretty much wasted my time every time.  the piercers are unknowledgable and very unwilling to help out with minor piercing discrepancies. i have also been rejected after wanting to get certain facial piercings  done because they are unable to cater to different facial dimensions without freaking the fuck out and ranting about liability. i would then go to other parlors and ask the piercers if there was anything wrong with my frankenstein features, and they would say not at all......i'm not coming back here again. hopefully the tattoo artists are nicer and more helpful than the whining pricks holding needles in their quivering hands.
On the whole, a pretty awesome place to get ink done.
So before I go on with my fabulous review here, keep in mind it was not me personally that got the work done. But I was here with my boyfriend back in February and I was pretty impressed with their service. The boy literally came in with a picture on his phone and said "This is what I want" - Dave was happy to look the image up on Google, print it out, resize and sketch it. He was also aware of how placement and anatomy can affect a tattoo's appearance (he wanted it on his upper arm, which can make long tattoos look uncentered due to musculature). Overall, Dave was knowledgeable and made sure to communicate to us everything we needed to know and make sure the boy was cool with it all.
As far as the actual tattooing went, Dave was friendly and talkative, and they don't mind if you bring a friend to watch you (though you might not have anywhere to sit if it's busier). Try to aim for a Tuesday afternoon, as they were pretty dead when we went. Tip your tattoo artist! They're chilling there with you for like three hours while you get this thing done, and they do an amazing job here. The shop was super-clean, too.
Overall, I can't wait to come back for my own ink - they have some really amazing photobooks filled with their work, and it looks like they do color really well.
I'll be sure to update after my visit! :]
And remember to bring your ID with you, even if you're just looking - you need it to get into the shop (or, if you're under 18, bring a parent).
I originally went in to Liberty Tattoo on a referral. Â When the guy at the desk heard what I wanted (traditional horseshoe and roses) he said Dave had to do it. Â I liked that they matched up the work to who would be best suited artistically for me. Â I have developed an awesome relationship with Dave and we are working on a full sleeve now. Â I have also referred many clients, who have all been just as happy as me. Â He is very light handed and does amazing work in color. Â You will not be disappointed here.
Review Source:At 25 I got my 4th pre-drawn tattoo here. It is on the back of my neck, which turns out to be a pretty damn sensitive place, especially when your tattoo is gung-ho on the outlining. However, Dave has a delicate hand and is, as always, hilarious.
Good tattoo place - they have excellent tattooists who are happy to work with your needs. Very clean place. Not much privacy when your parts are being worked on, but not much different than other places I've been. Plus they offer free touchups on their work within a certain time frame. Some places won't do that, or won't mention such an option.
The wait time can get pretty long on the weekends and after work, so you may want to call ahead and see if they'll place your name on a list. Be sure to bring a photo ID with you, duh.
A little pricier than others but cheaper than the city. Will get my next tat here as well.
