I got my first tattoo with my sister from Lisa Orth and she books like 5 months out in advance. I had to reschedule once, but I finally got it done in May. We talked to her about designs via email (I would've like to have done it in person) and she isn't very responsive. But don't let that deter you!! (I was a bit put off about it, especially since I hadn't gotten a tattoo before). We ended up finalizing the design day of, which once again, is not my way of doing things. BUT Lisa's "bedside manner" is awesome! She puts you at ease, walks you through all the steps, and is 100% genuine. We were with her for over 3 hours, and I never felt uneasy or apprehensive. Plus our tattoo is awesome :) Definitely would recommend her for a newbie. The 5 month wait is worth it!
Review Source:Just got a piece from Lisa...what can I say. This is my first tattoo, so I was a tad nervous about the whole experience. I never felt judged or wrong for any of my ideas, and walking into the shop and talking with Lisa I felt immediately at ease. She was super easy to communicate with throughout the process and she took my simple outline and made it into something beyond my imagination. The energy in the shop is very welcoming, not at all like I expected. If I decide to get more tattoos I will definitely do everything in my power to make it back to Seattle to get them from Lisa.
Review Source:I walked in very excited about getting a tattoo or getting my ideas heard since they have amaizing reviews however when I walked in I spoke with LISA about what I wanted done and she interrupted me and said she's booked till September so I had to talk to TARA who heard my talk without looking up at me. After that mess, Lisa told me that I can schedule an appointment with Tara for Thursday. Instantly she requested $50 cash or credit! No one paid close attention to me so why on earth would I leave a deposit!
First you meet the customer, talk about ideas then and only then do you request a deposit and appointment!
POOR SERVICE.

I got my first tattoo from Lisa today and I have decided that she is my person. Â There are so many things wonderful about her so I'll try to list all of it: super easy going, I had NO nervousness, my tattoo was exactly what I wanted even when I didn't know what i wanted going into it, she was patient with me while we were corresponding about the artwork, her shop is clean and cozy, she prepared me before we started and walked me through what to expect and told me pain coping tips, she made me feel super comfortable and she's just lovely all around.
I also, like many of these other people researched and slowly looked for a tattoo artist. Â She was booked out, so I basically waited to get a tattoo for 3-4 months (mostly because I had to reschedule once) and it was worth it and gave me time to think about it. Â Love her and my tattoo. Â She's one of my new favorite people.
After years of dreaming of a tattoo and countless hours of researching, I made the plunge to get some body art. And boy am I glad Lisa's name kept coming up, over and over and over and over again.
There's nothing to be said about her that hasn't been said already: amazing, extremely talented, hilarious, gracious, welcoming, LEGENDARY... Did I mention she is extremely talented?? We worked on a custom piece and she took all the thoughts that were flying through my head, nailed them on paper and made them a thousand times better. She is a true artist and freaking magical. Make your appointment now and trust in her. You will be beyond happy!
100% A++++ for Lisa!
I have had some lovely tattoo experiences in my time, but I think Lisa is the best! She did a wonderful job developing my amateurish sketch into a full-blown piece of art. She was really good at identifying the important elements and creating a cohesive piece that looked aMAZing on my arm, and she never made me feel rushed or pressured. She's the kind of awesome person you want to hang out with, even when you're not getting tattooed. I am SO STOKED about the way it came out, it just looks amazing. I cannot say enough great things about Alleged Tattoo.
Lisa gave me my first tattoo and I had a fantastic experience. Lisa is very approachable. Â I immediately felt at ease, which is important when you're about to have a permanent image drawn on your skin with needles.
I find it helpful to hear details about the logistics and how things work with these kinds of experiences, so here's how it played out for me:
I did research on tattoo artists and found Lisa, so I emailed her with some info about what I was looking for. Â Within a few days, she emailed me back with feedback about what would be realistic and possible. Â After a couple email exchanges, I decided to move forward so I paid a $50 deposit through her website and she reserved an appointment time for me (the deposit goes toward the final cost when you pay for the tattoo).
On my appointment day, we looked at pictures and she quickly edited some sketches until I was satisfied (my tattoo is small and straightforward--so this worked for me).
She took time making sure I was happy with placement and then we got started on the tattooing. Â Throughout the process she chatted with me and others in the room and often checked in to make sure I was doing okay. Â It took maybe 45 minutes. Â At the end she gave me thorough aftercare instructions.
After about a week she emailed me to see how healing was going. Â I told her my concerns and she gave me advice. Â It was great to have that follow up.
Today I had my free touch up. Â I was a little nervous, honestly, because I didn't want her to think I didn't try to properly care for my tattoo--and I had some trouble with healing so it lost some color. Â But she was nice as usual and re-added a bunch more color. Â And you know what I really appreciated? Â Even though it had been two months since I got the tattoo, she knew who I was and knew what concerns I had had during healing. Â She either has a great memory or took the time to look at our email exchanges before meeting with me again.
She books up with appointments, so be prepared to wait a few weeks or a month to see her. Â It's worth it though! Â I will be going back for my second tattoo.
Lisa is the bomb. Is anyone still saying "the bomb?" If not, please replace with whatever term conjures amazing awesomeness. Her work is fabulous and her energy is contagious. She instantly puts you at ease and is a total pro. Â Not having a boatload of tattoos, it has been intimidating finding an artist that I clique with. Â I wholeheartedly believe in Lisa's work ethic and moral compass...she is no tat shop douchebag. AND....she is a true artist. She rendered a cartoon for me that came out even better than I envisioned it. And her choice and input on colors made it even better!
I will most definitely return as I am so impressed with the two pieces she created for me. BEYOND pleased that I now feel I have a tattoo artist of my own....OK, we can share her....
I just got home from getting my tattoo from Lisa and boy was it a fantastic experience!
Lisa was absolutely amazing and so kind. Â She chatted with my friend and I throughout the entire process and was very concerned with my welfare and looked out for me the entire time. Â This was better than what I ever could have hoped for for a first tattoo experience. She was so efficient without sacrificing any of the quality of the tattoo and just an absolute pleasure to be around. I was so relaxed that I totally zoned out of the actual tattoo (and the pain) because I was having such a great time. She is also incredibly professional and has an art background, not just tattooing experience.
I would recommend her to anyone looking for a great artist who is ALSO a great person and who will put you totally at ease throughout your whole tattoo experience!
Thank you so much Lisa, and I will definitely be coming back to you for any future tattoos!
I have know lisa for close to 24 yrs now. I have had the pleasure of watching her take on her art projects in different ways. Music, graphic design,DJ ing, and now tattooing. Whatever lisa decides to do, see does well. she always has a smile and has been willing to help and collaborate with me when we have done art projects together. Â Owen/ parlor-F tattoo.
Review Source:Lisa was amazing to work with. Â I had been planning a trip to Seattle, and around the same time finally decided that I was ready to get the half sleeve of flowers that I had been thinking about for a few years. Â I was living in Michigan at the time, and was on the verge of moving out to the New England area...so basically I did lots of research and a silly amount of portfolio checking, all over the midwest and New England (including NYC)...and came across Lisa and her incredible portfolio and amazing reviews. Â
I was lucky enough to be able to get an appointment during the dates I was to be in Seattle! Â Lisa was great to work with in the planning stages, and I LOVE that I had the opportunity to see and work with the design a little bit before actually getting the tattoo done. Â I always have a hard time just showing up and jumping in to the tattoo without having a couple of days to think about it. Â I mean...it's permanent, right? Â Shouldn't I get to think it over a bit? Â Lisa's right on the mark with that - I don't understand why this isn't a more common practice. Â The tattoo that Lisa designed was amazing, and exactly what I was looking for and had tried to describe to her through an email with lots of descriptions and photos.
Anyway, the tattoo - I sat for 5 hours, and Lisa was awesome the whole way through, checking in to see if I was okay, needed a break, water....and even fed me chocolate. Â (Win.) Â She was fun to talk to, very down to earth. Â I enjoyed being at the studio with her and the apprentices that she works with. She took photos of it afterward and emailed them to me - also above and beyond. (If you look at the photos attached to this page, you can see where I uploaded a front/side/back-view composite of the photos she took of my tattoo.) Â
I get compliments on the tattoo literally nearly every day, and people always want to know where I got it done. Â Most are pretty disappointed when they find out that the artist is in Seattle...I almost feel a little guilty for being the cause of so many dashed hopes. Â ;) Â The tattoo fits my arm beautifully and it couldn't be more perfect for me. Â :)
Once I come around to thinking about my next tattoo, I bet I'll be trying to figure out a way to get back out to see Lisa in Seattle. Â Best tattooing experience ever, hands down.
If you're lucky enough to live in Washington and you're looking to get a tattoo, definitely check out her portfolio on her website and give her a call...you won't regret it!
Also...please remember: Â with tattoos, you get what you pay for. Â You're not doing yourself any favors by going cheap.
Lisa is a phenomenal woman with a kind heart and she took care of me through my first ever tattoo without blinking an eyelash at my awkwardness. Although my desired tattoo was just a simple sentence, she helped me with a long consultation that allowed us to look through different fonts. Then during the tattoo she saved me when I began to get lightheaded only 10 minutes into the work. She got me water, some food, and brought out a table for me to lay on where she performed the rest of the artwork flawlessly. I have already recommended her to many friends and will continue to do so for years to come.
Review Source:Lisa is so awesome!! I went to her with a difficult coverup that required a lot of creativity and careful planning, and I was also on a time constraint, and she made it all work; she was happy and excited to do it!
She is incredibly professional and pleasant to work with, she really listened to me and she made sure that we communicated throughout the entire process. She keeps her shop perfectly clean and organized and comfortable which I really appreciate.
Lisa is exactly what I would want in a tattoo artist, I would go back to her again and I would recommend her to all my friends!!
There isn't a better tattoo artist in town. I know people fall all over themselves exaggerating that kind of thing but Lisa is the greatest. She is totally down to earth, funny, sweet and and an incredible artist. I went in to get a bicycle tattoo and it went from being a little something on my leg to an awesome big something on my chest. It is a full blown work of art. It was painful but that's how this business works. In any case, you'd be foolish to go elsewhere.
Review Source:I know a lot of Lisa's business comes word of mouth, so hear these words from my mouth: GET TATTOOED BY LISA ORTH!
I've now had two tattoos done by Lisa (my first and second) and I couldn't possibly be happier with the experience. She really goes the extra mile to make sure you're happy with your tattoo, emailing you the design for feedback and then making changes until you are completely happy with your tattoo. Â Her custom pieces are excellent! I went in both times with kind of a vague idea of what I wanted and she managed to completely capture what I didn't even know I was looking for!
Lisa is very sweet and welcoming, and her laid-back, goofy manner will totally put you at ease. She'll also keep you completely informed throughout the process, which is especially helpful if you're new to getting tattooed. (this ink vs that ink, what different needle groupings mean and do, what will hurt more, what is realistic detail-wise for a particular tattoo, what the healing process will look like, etc.)
Lisa also has a very light touch with the needle, which is great since I'm a big ol' sissy.
I will most definitely continue to be a return customer.
Lisa's work is gorgeous, and she's a pleasure to work with. Â Third tattoo for me, first from her, and easily my best experience to date. Â She worked from a drawing I provided (not done by me) and she did a spectacular job of sizing, reworking, and refining the artwork so that it would fit perfectly and work well as a tattoo. Â She took great care to maintain the style and feel of the lines and shading, and I couldn't be happier! Â
Her facility is spotless, welcoming, and in a semi-forgotten side street that allows for great light (go during the day if you can!) and a steady flow of goings-on to watch out the window. Â But Lisa herself is enough to keep you happily occupied for a few hours. Â I was there for about 4 hours, 3 of which was inking, and if you're going to sit with someone you don't know for a good chunk of your day, Lisa's a good person to do it with. Â I've already given her name to a handful of people (anyone who will listen, actually) and I expect I'll be back!
My tattoo is more than I could have ever asked for! Lisa drew me a drawing of something that only I had envisioned and brought it to life and made it better than I ever expected! This was my first tattoo and Lisa and a gentle touch and is worth every minute of your time to get a tattoo from :-) I will ber going back for more!
Review Source:Lisa's awesome in all ways. I've had the idea of getting No Face from Spirited Away floating off of my arm in my head for the last three years and finally decided to get it done. Lisa went as far as to do extensive research on Noface and the different philosophical interpretations on him in order to get a good idea of things, which blew my mind. When something like that has been in your head for 3 years, you have high expectations especially when it's your first tattoo, and holy crap. Those expectations were exceeded in every way; I can't stop staring at it and enjoying it.
It was my first tattoo, so I asked a lot of questions and she had the nicest and most interesting answers. She makes her own guns, knows so much about tattoos technically-speaking and what happens to your skin, and it was just a really perfect experience.
I couldn't ask for more, and you'd be lucky to have her art your skin up. Awww yeah.
The short answer: Lisa Orth is the shit. Â
The long answer: Â She did my first tattoo EVER, but at no point during the process did I feel like the virgin-skinned n00b that I was. Â She is knowledgeable, experienced, and talented--her portfolio speaks for itself--but also down-to-earth and just plain fun.
Lisa was dedicated to getting my custom design just right, no matter how many "RE: Tattoo design" emails and PDFs it took. Â When it came time to get inked, she explained every step of the process and made sure I was comfortable throughout. Â Which, don't get me wrong, is hugely appreciated--but in all honesty, I was having so much fun just chatting and laughing that she could have accidentally stabbed me in the eyeball with her tattoo gun and I still would have had a blast. Â And she's probably good enough to do an eyeball tattoo anyway, so... yeah!
Her shop is awesome: comfortable; inviting; decorated with taxidermied animal heads and magical trinkets. Â Oh, and the music is really good. Â (It's the little things, you guys!) Â And anyway, how many female-owned tattoo shops do you see around town these days? Â Girl power, and stuff. Â Just sayin.
In conclusion: HIGHLY recommended. Â I will definitely be back at Alleged for more (eyeball?) ink in the near future.
Hands down, the very best. Not that I'm speaking from volumes of experience, since I got my first tattoo with Lisa here one week ago.
She was a joy to work with throughout the process, and was really accomodating as I changed my appointment to work with my out-of-state school's schedule.
My tattoo is gorgeous, and beautifully detailed. She helped me ponder size and placement, and was very patient as I switched the stencil from one arm to another and back again. She has great taste in music and works in an awesome space - honestly it felt like I was hanging out in the house of that really cool friend you want to try and emulate.
I am so grateful I went to her for my first tattoo, because it is beautiful, it honestly hurt less than when I got various bits of myself pierced, and now I can say I've passed a few hours talking with and learning from her!
So far I've been nothing but totally impressed with Lisa the artist and Lisa the person. This will be my fourth tattoo, but my first in 10 years, except my permanent makeup. I emailed her a similar tattoo and we made an appointment for an in person consultation. You can tell she stays busy and is damn good at what she does. We spoke about what I am looking for and what it represents to me. Otherwise I have given Lisa complete control over the colors and graphics. The way I see it she knows what colors she has and her limitations as an artist. I did pay a $50 deposit which I feel is more than fair as she will spend a great deal of time getting my proof just right prior than me coming back into her shop. The shop itself is very clean and cool. The only "issue" I may see is repeated business on my part, but is that REALLY a problem??
Review Source:Lisa is one of those Seattle legends thats had her hands into more than you'll ever know, but is also one of the least pretentious people you could ever meet. Once she sets her mind to something, not only does she get it done she gets it done well - and it all shows in her work. Â I have a small collection of tattoo's from different artists that I've done my homework on, also working at tattoo expos in the past has left me somewhat of a tattoo snob.
My first tattoo experience with Lisa was in her old place of employment and then a second in her new and improved tattoo studio. Both experiences left nothing to complain about. When it finally came time to get work done we went back and forth about a million times (aka each time I decided I wanted it "just a little different") until it was perfect. She worked at a great pace but made sure she was meticulous with the lines. The 2nd time I visited her was just a touch up appointment to fill in any black lost in healing. She keeps everything super clean and follows the health codes to a T. She is a talented artist, both with pen and gun, and has a great personality making it a super pleasant experience. I cant wait to save up and get my next one!
PS not a day goes by I dont get stopped and asked about my work everywhere I travel :)
Lisa came at the recommendation of a good friend with much ink. Â This was my first tattoo and for remembering my dog who recently passed. Â Lisa made the whole process so personalized. Â I am from out of town so I needed to get something in one session. Â I was so impressed with her artwork, smooth but gentle touch, Â and the unconventional feeling of her space, and her vibe was totally awesome. The tattoo looks so beautiful, and everyone compliments me on it. I just knew out of that big window seeing a dog being walked so similar to the mine, while I was getting inked, Â it totally clicked. Â Thanks Lisa, I am going to be back!!!!!!
Review Source:Recommended by the lovely David Belisle, Lisa did a tattoo for me 2 weeks ago, and it was beyond an amazing experience. Â I got a forearm tattoo that took 3 1/2 hours and she was amazing and easy to talk to. Â She had a gentle touch throughout the experience and I would have to say out of the 8 tattoos I have this was the best experience and this healed the fastest. Â Not one drop of black ink has faded and it looks amazing. Â I will be seeing Lisa for touch-ups future tattoo work and strongly recommend her to anybody! Â Love you Lisa! Â xoxo
Review Source:Lisa has done six tattoos for me now, I refuse to believe she is human but instead am convinced she's some sort of cosmic conglomeration of magical particles, the skin of dead rockstars, and Andy Warhol's retinas. She's most likely immune to bullets so don't try to stop her creative genius with any conventional means.
Tell her the idea of what you want but let her design it, you'll never be dissapointed.
This is slow in happening, so I do apologize. In the fall of 2010, when she was still at Artful Dodger, I got some ink done by Lisa. We met for a consult and I told her what I wanted. We discussed some ideas and a few days later, she emailed me an initial design. We talked a little more, tossed a few ideas around and came up with something that really captured what I wanted.
When I went in, I was a little nervous, as I was getting this design on my wrist and (from what I had heard/experienced with others) this was a pretty painful area to get inked. Either I'm hardcore or (more likely) Lisa has the gentlest touch with a tattoo gun. The phrase "licked by kittens" came up more than once, as she drew 8 bars of music (with notes) on the inside of my left wrist, and all I did was giggle through the process.
Lisa is an incredible artist, and one of the sweetest people I've ever met. We hung out for a few hours the evening she inked my wrist and it was like hanging out with a good friend. I can't recommend her and her work enough, not without grabbing you off the street and forcibly pushing you into her shop. Thank you, Lisa.
SO... I waited over 25 years to get a tattoo. I wanted something really specific and in a difficult spot to tattoo/get tattooed. Upon the recommendation of a friend I consulted Lisa. I told her about my dream tattoo and she had mock ups drawn the next day. A brilliantly drawn rooster that looked just as I had been imagining for so many years. It was if she'd extracted the picture from my brain! Soo much detail, vibrant colours( on dark skin mind you ;^)), a light touch, amazing at placement. Lisa gave me everything I had wanted plus a little more. Lisa is a very skilled artist and a complete badass at what she does( Does your tattoo artist build their own machines???). Â On top of that she is as sweet as pie and great company ( I mean the last thing I'd want would be to have to spend three hours with some drab and lackluster personality poking you with a needle). She made getting inked an experience for me. You can tell she is connected to her "Artform" and TRUST if you choose Lisa You will walk away with just that. A permanently portable work of art on your body. Thanks a lot Lisa. You Rock!!!!
** You can look at my ink in the pics... Its neck tattoo of the rooster
I dropped by Lisa's shop the other day for my very first tat and it was overall a very smooth and pleasant experience. Lisa was very kind and patient in explaining what the process would entail and what I could expect out of it. She went several times over the healing/maintenance aspects of my new ink and let me know that I could always call in if I had more questions. Overall it didn't take longer than 90 minutes for a fairly delicate job, and it was a great intro into the world of tattoos.
Lisa really cares that her clients are satisfied with the end result and will help you consider all of your options before they're etched forever on your skin! A big thumbs up, I would definitely work with Lisa again in the future, and so should you! Tip well your artist!!! ;)
