After being recommended by few friends I made an appointment with Jet. I brought in an illustration that a friend made for me. I knew Jet's style and allowed him to put his own spin on it. Not only do i LOVE this tattoo but I get constant compliments on it.
Jet and his staff are super friendly, they listen and I had a blast while I was there. Can't wait to get inked again!
I got my first tattoo 10 yrs ago from Love Hate. and although it was bad...i never said anything. i was too embarrassed to go back. but after so many people insulting the tattoo,(YES my fault!!) i finally got the nerve to go back. when i walked in, i was told the artist was booked for months, so i should go with another artist. before i was able to talk to anyone, they hurried to get a deposit...then handed me a paper to sign which stated i could not get a refund????? hello...i have not even talked to an artist..but they were hurrying me along and like an idiot..i signed it! as i was waiting to talk to SOMEONE??...the original artist walked in with his dinner, and the guy at the desk pulled him aside to tell him about me. i have a witness that said i was talked to with disrespect. when i told him i wanted a cover up...he offered no apology, no discount, took no responsibility..just TOLD me what to do. when i told i wanted it done a certain waay..his reply was NO..you have to do it this way..isn't it MY body?? so a month goes by, my appointment day! I took off of work, was happy to have it done..actually excited, despite the fact i was told to NEVER go back to the artist who messed up your tattoo, to do a cover up!! 2 hrs before my appointment, i got a phone call..which the girl said...Sorry, can't do your tattoo today. he is running over. I was soooooo angry. and she did not even say (we are so sorry). she just said we can do it another day. at that point i demanded a refund. so i drove there...and again with the rudeness....Don't you understand Love Hate..that people ARE excited about their tattoos...and you could be a little more SENSITIVE towards your clients. I will NEVER recommend this place ever!!! they are rude (although the man that gave me my refund was kind and sympathetic!!!).....and the have no sensitivity at all i will take my business elsewhere. thank u!
Review Source:While this city is home to a handful of talented tattoo artists, Love Hate is the creme de la creme of tattoo studios in Rochester. Clean, professional, and experienced is what you're paying for- and it ain't cheap (I believe the starting rate is $150 an hour). Although expensive, you're paying for extraordinary artists who have years of experience in creating and tattooing custom artwork. If you have a huge piece you'd like to get tattooed, this is one of the few places in the city you can trust to get the job done right the first time.
I'll admit my first experience with this shop was intimidating, but like other reviews have stated once the ice is broken, they're all very nice and social. I had scheduled an appointment with Ben Wright in the fall of 2006 to get a custom piece done on my feet. I came to Ben with an idea of what I was looking for and he took my ideas and inspirations and created a beautiful piece that I am proud to show off. Ben was kind, professional, and made sure to clearly explain to me everything he was doing before he did it. The tattoos came out beautiful, and out of all my tattoos, they are still the most complimented on to this day.
Love Hate isn't cheap, and in reality great tattoo work isn't. You can try and save by going somewhere inexpensive with inexperienced tattooers but in the end you'll end up paying when you do end up at their studio to have one of them fix your botched tattoo anyway.
I got my first tattoo at Love Hate, so I feel obligated to give it a good rating.
The guy who gave me my tattoo was very nice, considering I was a young girl getting my first tattoo. He gave me a lot of advice on it and charged me the shop minimum.
This shop was very intimidating to me at first, but if you open up to them, they'll open up to you! Everyone here is extremely tatted up, or pierced...which is a beautiful thing, but if you're a newbie, you might want to try a different shop. I kind of wish I had.
Convenient location to downtown. Clean and reputable shop. While I have heard a lot of people say that it is overrated and overpriced, all of the work by the artists here seems very good, and they all come across as skilled and professional. They take what they do seriously.
I recently got my seventh tattoo from Love Hate. It was the first one I have gotten there, and my experience with my artist Ben will make me go there from now on.
Ben was super friendly and we chatted the whole time during the tattoo. He made me feel really comfortable and kept checking to make sure I was feeling okay and seeing if I needed a break.
All of the artists here are really nice, and chatted with me while I was there, and they all seem very talented. It can seem a bit pricey compared to other shops, but I guarantee it will be worth it in the end, and you get your moneys worth.
It can be hard to get an appointment, but if you have a small tattoo you want done they try to get you in the day you walk in, and if they can't they will work to accommodate a time you can come.
I'm currently the owner of four tattoos from Love Hate.
By far, one of the best tattoo parlors I've ever been in -- on par with New York Adorned in Manhattan. Â I've had three different artists work on me over the years at Love Hate, and they've all been professional and excellent. Â Attentive to what I wanted done, never pushy, always willing to honor any requests I had (i.e. specific placement of a tattoo).
The rest of the staff are really cool and don't make it seem like they're doing YOU a favor by setting up an appointment for you. Â
I've known many people to get work done there over the years and nobody -- NOBODY -- has ever had a negative word to say about the place. Â That speaks volumes.
I got tattooed here and loved it. Â I came in with pretty basic plans that I had drawn up myself and got exactly what I wanted. Â Everyone was friendly. Â The artist had plenty of my favorite records on hand so I got my choice of tattoo tunes. Â And he even listened to my roommate rant about self-defense and mace while she kept me company. Â Great experience, I'd send anyone in Rochester here to get ink.
