Luis does it again! It was time for my newest piece of work, so I brought him the art book from The Dark Crystal. For where I wanted it, (on the inside of my left bicep,) the artwork needed to be modified. Luis did an AMAZING job of modifying the artwork and placing it to really suit my musculature. I cannot recommend this shop enough!

Â Laura has a unique aesthetic and brings beauty to my ideas. Â The shop is different in that they do not have flash art on the wall. Â They prefer to work with the client's existing ideas to create something unique that expresses both the client intent and the artist's experience and perspective. Â The shop is clean, organized, well lit, and the staff could not be friendlier or more understanding. Â The artists seem to all respect and support each other, often dropping in to each other's stations and observing/complementing. Â Laura, in particular, is very cool, patient and willing to work with clients on their ideas.

Since I found Lovecraft, Â I will never go anywhere else again for a tattoo. Â Friends who have gone there are also thrilled with their tattoos and are also planning to go back for more ink.
Getting tattooed at Loveraft is a comfortable experience. Unlike other shops I have been to, each  artist has their own unique and personalized space to work in.  The shop (in its newer location) is very clean, bright, and quite cozy.
Though not an essential component of getting a great tattoo, the fact that all the artists are as nice as they are talented certainly adds to the enjoyment. Â I personally go to Laura but would not hesitate in getting a tattoo from any one else there. Â

My Niece recommended Rick to me for my design. As a first timer I was a little scared but he made me feel really comfortable and he turned my artwork into a something that I completely adore. Can't wait for the next one. I will be back. The shop is really clean and the rooms are private. I didn't want to be out on an open floor and the shop is perfect for that. Outstanding work!
Review Source:I chose Lovecraft because the style of tattoo I was looking for was very specific and when I looked through Laura's portfolio, I could tell she would understand what I was looking for, and I was right. It was a half sleeve, so pretty serious, and Laura was incredible... she really understood the style I wanted and went through several re-draws of the design to make sure it was perfect. During the tattoo, I actually had a great time - how often do you hear that? Everyone in the studio was awesome, they even offered to pick up soup for my boyfriend and I when they went out for lunch! Laura was great, fun to chat with and did a fantastic job!
Review Source:I've gotten plenty of shady tattoos at shady place, I learnt my lesson and got on here. Â I went with Laura since when I went in for a consultation she offered me a piece of homemade sweet potato pie! Â Once that one me over, she won me over in general. Â Since then she's done some seriously ballin' projects on me and I couldn't be happier. Â Rick, Luis, Christian & Rick all seem very berry nice, and I'd jump at the chance to get work done by them, but I'm tied up with Laura for a while. Â I've never had any issues with heals or infections, every needle comes outta a new package right in front of you, etc. etc. Â The shop is in general clean, organized, comfortable and fun- they have a killer fish tank with some insane imported sea creatures to look at, art of everyday fish and an endless supply of boys life & highlights magazines! Â Seriously, the place & artist are schaweeet!

I love this shop!! The coolest staff I've ever encountered. I've been to both their old and new location and the new location is by far better than the last... even though the last location they had was pretty great, too.
Luis is my artist but I've had many friends see Laura, Christian, and Rick and ALL of their tattoos are thoughtful, carefully executed, and gorgeous pieces of artwork.
Personality goes a long way with me and each of the artists have been nothing but friendly and generous with me (Laura offered me some homemade cookies once).
This shop definitely has it together, they love their jobs, they love their customers and it shows. I'll NEVER go to another shop again. Love them. Highly recommend them.
My boyfriend went to Lou with a concept (he wanted a pirate map on his arm) and Lou created a work of art that stayed true to the original concept while surpassing anything my boyfriend could have imagined. People are always complimenting him on the precision and beauty of his sleeve.
Even now that we live in California we still prefer Lovecraft to any other tattoo place that we've found. The cost of a cross-country trip is well worth it for the high quality work that comes from the artists here.
I was 15 when I got my first tattoo*. I went to a sketchfest place because neither of us knew any better and, thankfully, didn't suffer any sort of negative consequences**.
Fast forward five-ish years. It was time for some new ink, but I had no clue where to go. Thankfully, a few of my coworkers at the time had gotten work done by Laura and Christian, and suggested that I should, too.
Laura is AMAZING. She's super friendly, patient, and welcoming. I couldn't have asked for a better experience.
I haven't been to the new location, like many other reviewers have stated, but cleanliness, sterility, and comfort are never ever ever concerns that you need to have when you're talking about these guys.
I plan on getting another tattoo come Fall, and I will be leaving New York City and going back to Lovecraft. If you think the idea of LEAVING pretty much the tattoo capital of the world to get inked in some random little city in Connecticut is batshit crazy, you need to meet and get inked by Laura.

Like Paul, I haven't been to Lovecraft since they moved to Hamden.
Their old shop was clean & comfortable which I'm sure hasn't changed with the location.
As for myself I've only been tattooed by Cass/Laura. Â We met, I told her what I wanted. Â A few days before my appointment she e-mailed me two drawings for me to choose from.
Laura is so laid back and nice. Â Her chair is comfortable. Â Her work is amazing. Â I get compliments every where I go. Â My favorite was at a wedding, someone actually come up to me and recognized my tattoo from Laura's portfolio. Â I spent about six hours getting tattooed by this woman and will be going back to her in the future.
I don't want to take away from the other artists at the shop. Â My boyfriend is friendly with & has been tattooed by Christian who is also amazing.
Check out their portfolios and find the artist that best suits your style. Â I don't think you'll be disappointed by anyone at Lovecraft.
How is it possible that no one's written about Lovecraft yet!? Â I have been fans of Christian, Cass and Luis since '99. Â Having formed their own shop five years ago, they are regularly putting out intricate beautiful work. Â Some that I'm very proud to feature!
The shop's moved away from Amity and as of yet, I haven't visited the new digs. Â Happily, they are becoming steadily known for being the best tattoo artists in a town known for tattoo artists.
