I love Mom's House of Pain, this place is amazing. I have 9 tattoos all done by Peggy. She does amazing work, always very helpful and truthful, she will tell me if something will work better  then what my idea is. She also listen's to everything I want in a tattoo and creates a master piece! I got my nose pierced by Lola and she does a great job! Very knowledgeable about piercings! Also Katie the other tattoo artist who works there is amazing. Her work is flawless and she takes her time with detail and I know from sitting there while I'm getting tattooed that her clients love her! This is the only shop I will go to, very clean and great service!
Review Source:I chose two stars as in "Meh. I've experienced better" for a few reasons.
Pros:
They are a very clean shop
Very talented artists
Cons (as my personal experience) :
I felt like they didn't really care about my happiness in my tattoo. I went in to tell them what I wanted, and it had some lettering in it so I told them to make it as big as however big the lettering needs to be since aged skin will eventually blur it.
The writing that was designed for me and tattooed into my skin was way too small and spaced way too close and awkward. With this being done, I am unfortunately really unhappy with my tattoo and I will only be unhappier as my skin blurs the ink. I went into another tattoo shop for their advice and the artist at the other place said he wouldn't have even let me put my tattoo where it is and how it's designed. Now I have to pay more money to get it fixed somewhere else.
My advice for the shop: Please be more considerate of peoples' tattoo designs and placement. Many of us getting tattoos are inexperienced and I am always very thankful to artists who direct me a different direction if a tattoo design/placement would not be a good idea. This can avoid future unhappy customers. Yes, I should have been more picky so I do take some fault in my situation.
My advice for the customers: Know what you want after you have done your research. Be picky about your design since it is going to be in your skin permanently.
I did not name any names because I know my situation does not reflect the overall work and ethic of a particular artists, but I would like the shop and customers to be more careful.
Found Mom's with the good reviews on Yelp. We called in to make an appointment for my first --serious-- piercing. (nervous). We set up an appointment with Lola who was very kind and caring and helpful. When we sat down she explained that she does counseling on (first?) piercings to make sure all is good. While that may lose some customers who change their minds, she says 'that's the point". Â We went in for my procedure and she immediately put me at ease and carefully went over placement and procedure again - Taking great care and concern for my emotional and physical comfort.
When all is said and done, we can't say enough good things about Mom's and Lola. She is truly world class. Whether you've done this a lot or a newbie like me -you will find her  careful, squeaky clean, precise and professional.  We highly recommend her.
BTW ~ The procedure wasn't bad - I was ready to go again when she was done. And it looks beautiful!
This one is for you Lola!
My experience.....
Every few years I go through a stent of time where I crave changes. Some being hair, new tattoo, new nails... Just change. So for a while now I have really been wanting some new piercings. I got a wild hair and decided to stop by Mom's House of Pain on my way home from work. I drive by every day and never have the nerve to stop. For some reason on this day I did.
I walked in and it was clean, everything was very neatly placed. I was immediately greeted by Lola, one of the friendliest genuine people EVER! I told her what I was wanting. She invited me back to the piercing room and I took a seat. We discussed what I had originally came in to get (Cute ear piercing) and as it turns out I do not have the proper anatomy (your thinking bummer right?) No it was actually a blessing. I am what some of you may call preppy or the cleaner type, just your average plain Jane working in a corporate office. I asked her what I could get that is still appropriate for work but had a little bad ass edge to it. She put several marks on my ears and tried to put an emphasis on my stronger ear features. I ended up getting three studs in my Conch! Which I LOVE!!!
Lola is not just a piercer she is an artist. We ended up doing something I had never seen before which was exactly what I wanted. Lola you are fantastic and I will definitely  be back!

I love Mom's! I've gotten 4 of my 5 tattoos here. While I have only gotten work done from Katie at the shop, her work is amazing. The girl behind the counter, Lola, is awesome and  lots of fun to talk to. She can answer any of your questions and is really helpful. Really clean place with a very friendly, easy going atmosphere.
Review Source:I got my first tattoo from Peggy, at a place under a different name (though I think it may have been the same location?) It was the best experience. She was very kind, professional and made me incredibly comfortable. My tattoo is beautiful and I get comments on it all the time. I have had too many people to count ask me where I got it done. I plan on going back to Peggy for my next tattoo, and I am beyond excited.
Review Source:Went in on a whim and met Lola, who was super nice and helpful. Â Peggy Rose did my tattoo and did a perfect job... though I only got a simple tat, she was very sweet and professional regarding placement, size, cleanliness, comfort, etc. I look forward to getting more work done by her. Â Don't judge a book by it's cover... this 'little' place along Bothell Everett Hwy is great!
Review Source:I have had amazing work done by the artist Katie at Mom's and I get lots of compliments on my tattoos. I plan on getting more ink done by her. Â All of my work is custom and she is great about iterating on the artwork until it is perfect. Â The environment of the shop is low-key and I find it very relaxing while getting work done.
