It is a nice clean and modern looking. the artist are nice and helpful. my problem with this place is any place who is turning out apprentices in 12 weeks is not good. there is no way anyone can learn all they need to in order to be a competent tattoo artist. on top of that i dont know if these are the people they are employing or not. just seems like a gimmick to put more money in there pockets. i would go somewhere else thats actually owned by a tattooer.
Review Source:This is one of the cleanest tattoo shops I have ever been in. I mean, the place is pristine. You would think it was a hospital if it weren't for the modern partition and the grafitti art on the walls. Speaking of art on the walls, if you are looking for a place to browse generic clip flash art to determine which butterfly design will look the best over your ass, this is not your place!
When you walk into this place for the first time you are greeted and told to look through the artist portfolios to pick your favorite artist- if you don't have one already. I decided on Ward because he looked like he was a perfectionist about his art, which is exactly what I wanted. My appointment was scheduled for 2 weeks out and it ended up being a great tattoo experience. Ward was personable and did an awesome job on the two tattoos he completed that night. The price was perfectly reasonable and again, the service was great.
As long as I am in town, I will be going back to Ward and Pens & Needles!
Was in the Springs and was looking for a shop to get some new ink. Â Checking Yelp this was the best reviewed shop in town, but only had for reviews at the time (I'm number 5!). Â There was a lot more Google reviews which gave me some more reassurance. Â What took it home was a review written by the owner who gave his guarantee that they would do their best and strive for 100% satisfaction. Â If they have someone who is unhappy about their artwork to get back in touch so they can do their best to correct it, as well as learn from their mistakes. Â From his words you could tell they care about their perception and their work.
Once I got to the shop I liked the set up. Â It is clean with a trendy feel to the main room. Â It was an open area with a wall separating the waiting room. Â On the sides are booths for the artist to work. Â I went through a couple artist portfolios and decided on Shanna. Â She was legit, she took the time to go over in detail with me on what I wanted, which was good because my self drawing was poor at best. Â Shanna was talkative and inquisitive about what I wanted and gave me that good gut feeling. Â Once she got the needles and equipment out, she flipped into serious mode as she documented the needles and put together the stick, which was definitely reassuring. Â Could tell she cared about making sure her and I were protected and we did this as safely as possible.
While she was inking we had a decent conversation and she was light with her touch. Â She made sure I was comfortable and asked me multiple times if I needed a break.
The tattoo hurt, but that is part of the game...it was the rib cage so what you going to do.
It is 7 days later and all I have a little bit of peeling everything else is good. Â Color, lines, everything. Â I am 100% satisfied.
My hot boyfriend of doom wanted a new tattoo added to his frame, so I did a little research and took him to Pens & Needles in Colorado Springs. Â What a fantastic shop! Â He was tattooed by Christian, who is quite talented in the fine line dept. Â Fine line work is not an easy thing to master. Â
The shop is new, very clean, well lit... not your typical tattoo shop with frightening couch out in the waiting area and books of crappy flash to look over. Â The tattoo artists are not new, though and are a friendly, knowledgeable, talented bunch. Â
Right now they're offering an amazing deal on large pieces--- want a back piece? Â A leg piece or sleeve? Â Through April they're offering the work at about 1/3 of what it would traditionally cost. Â Seriously! Â I was amazed at the deal and if I didn't already have a ginormous back piece I'd be running there to get in on the deal. Â
Now I'm a tattoo snob. Â Before I committed to the aforementioned ginormous back piece, I did A LOT of research. Â I unfortunately have been subjected to bad work in the past and have learned my lesson. Â Pens & Needles is top notch. Â They also have great hours (Open Mon,Sun 12pm-8pm; Tue-Thu 10am-10pm; Fri-Sat 10am-11pm) and accept credit cards. Â
Check out Pens & Needles--- tell em Kelley Kakes sent you... tell em the teacher in the suit and tie with "SHHH" down his finger sent you as well.
