As sanitary and professional as it gets. If you have complications they're helpful do the work and supply alternative jewelry to make sure your satisfied. Phone and in person service is amazing. Lee is very comforting and will really take care of the work they do... I highly recommend this place.
Review Source:I was making a visit to Phoenix tattoo next door when I realized that the small ball in my tragus piercing had fallen out. I decided to pop over to progress to see the jewelry, ask a few questions, and get a new ball for my ring.
Well I must say the man who helped me was super nice and answered all my questions! He explained in detail how they do the nape piercing and the risks. He also took me to the back and put a new ball in my ring for free. The place is really clean, and well kept. I could tell he took pride in his work.
I have not been back to get any piercings done due to money being short but when I'm ready I will go back to have my piercings done.
This review is for the jewelry only.
My sister and I stopped by Phoenix Tattoo hoping for some new belly rings, but they don't stock jewelry; instead, we were told they had great selection next door. So we popped over to Progress Body Piercing.
It's very open, looks clean, and has some interesting art on the wall. If it's body jewelry you're after and those, um, really huge things you can put in your earlobes is what you want, they have all sorts of sizes and colors -- more than you could possibly want. The belly ring selection is rather tiny and we were disappointed that we didn't have more to choose from. My sister did find something she wanted, and the guy was nice. Â Not sure I'd come back here...would probably look for an all-in-one of what I'm looking for when I get my belly piercing redone.
Look forward to visiting here for new jewelry every time I visit Raleigh. I have gotten pierced by Lee who is WONDERFUL. He really made me feel safe and comfortable during the process. It is a extremely professional environment with one of the BEST selections of jewelry in state. By no exaggeration there is so much here. The prices are fair as well. This is highly recommended for any of your piercing needs. Visit here!
Review Source:I got two helix (outer ear cartilage) piercings by Seth on April 1, 2010.
I wasn't too impressed with the lobby area; it wasn't shabby, but it wasn't shiny, either; they did have a large selection of jewelry, though. When I got there, Seth was organizing plugs in one of the cases. I was half expecting him to get up and greet me; while he didn't ignore me, he wasn't the most hospitable upon my entrance. I don't expect people to come over and harass me with excessive waitress voices, but he was a bit more distant than I expected.
I looked around the jewelry cases and mentioned that I was thinking of getting two helix piercings. We talked over options about jewelry sizes; I kept looking around at the jewelry, and, while I was doing so, another customer and her friend came in. Â I was really impressed with the way Seth handled this client. She came in wanting new jewelry for her nipple piercing. Seth spotted immediately upon seeing the piercing that it was pierced with jewelry that was of a much too small gauge. He was very clear and up-front about why her piercing wasn't healing very nicely and why she was having difficulty with it and gave her very clear suggestions as to how she should handle it. I don't remember the details because they weren't particular to me; I just recall that he was very informative, professional, and clear.
Once she left, I had made up my mind about getting the piercings, and I went over jewelry options with Seth. I looked at the rings in the case and picked out the size I wanted. Seth was very patient and didn't rush me at all, allowing me to make my own decision about what I wanted.
Seth then led me to the back room and said he was going to get the room prepped and all. Before he left to do that, I asked him to go over his sterilization procedures, and he had no problem answering immediately. Â I went to the bathroom while he was prepping, and the bathroom was absolutely spotless and smelled lovely, which made me feel more confident about the studio.
Once I was through with that, we went to one of the rooms. Before he pierced anything, I asked him about the helix I already had, which I had done two years ago at the mall with a piercing gun (bad idea, I know; this was back when I didn't know better). He looked at it and told me that, as I was being pierced, my skin shifted, which left the little bump on the exit. I had been concerned that that was some kind of blowout or scar or something, but he said it was just shifted skin. Â I did take out the jewelry in that piercing about a week later, though, and noticed that the bump was hard, leading me to suspect that it wasn't just shifted skin but actually cartilage that had been pushed outward from the blunt force of the piercing gun, so I'm not so sure now about his comments. Â Anyway, I asked him a couple of other questions, which he answered informatively, as well.
After that, we worked on the placement of the earrings. I was really appreciative of how patient Seth was; I'm an indecisive person and it will take me so long to decide on what I think looks good. He took the balls off of the CBRs and placed them on my ear to give me an idea of what it would look like--first in his idea of what was aesthetically pleasing. I looked in the mirror and made some adjustments to the positioning and space between them, but I was still kind of iffy because it didn't quite look right to me. We kept adjusting it and I was still a bit unsure, but I went through with it anyway.
Seth had me lie down on the bed/table and was very soothing in telling me to take deep breaths. He told me what to expect while he was going through the entire procedure and also chatted with me a bit while doing the piercing. I was surprised that I was able to hear the needle going through the cartilage (kind of like a crunching sound), because I don't remember that when I had my other helix done, but it wasn't an alarming sound. The first one was a bit painful going through, but, the second one... I'm sure the pain would've made more sensitive people cry. All in all, it was pretty quick, and it wasn't bad at all. I looked at the new rings in the mirror and was very pleased; the end result didn't look as awkward as I imagined. Â Now that they've healed more, though, I'm not very satisfied with the lower ring, which I can see is placed about a millimeter too close to the outer rim.
We then went over aftercare procedures; Seth was very clear and no-nonsense in telling me the ins and outs of how I should treat the piercing afterward. Â I pretty much follow the leave-it-the-hell-alone (LITHA) method, and my piercings haven't given me trouble since.
All in all, it came out to be about $67, and I left a pretty generous tip because I was appreciative of Seth's information, care, and patience. Â It was pretty funny to see how he suddenly became a lot nicer than he already was once he saw the big tip I left. Â I took a star off because of the details I noticed afterwards.
I went in for a simple nose piercing and was lucky enough to meet Seth and be pierced by him. I've been pierced before (nose, eyebrow, tongue..) in the early 2000's. Somehow my nose was the most painful. I told Seth about this and he assured me this time would be much different. He explained everything in meticously detail and had me lay down on the table. He had me breath very slowly, in & out and just as fast...we were DONE!!! This was the BEST piercing and least painful to say the least. He sat and talked with me and my husband for almost 20 mins about piercing, aftercare and other helpful tips. I suggest anyone thinking about being pierced to stop here first. The cost was also very reasonable....but I left a small tip for his wonderful customer service.
Review Source:Okay, so I got a nose piercing back in, like 1996. I've always worn a little tiny nose stud. Studs need to be replaced. I went to Warlock's, when I lived in Cary. Their tattoos seem to be pretty solid. However, the piercing side, or more to the point the piercing artist leaves a lot to be desired. We get it, you're REALLY COOL. You've been piercing since you were in a pack and play. You're covered with them. We support you. You look non-traditional and we expect that from you. But, yes, here's the but moment- But you don't have to embody that whole, I'm part of a counter-culture that you don't get to be a part of elitist piercing mentality. The woman there is a)rude in person b)rude over the phone. Whatever your culture, whatever you're into, its cool. Just remember that a customer is a customer whether you're selling home improvement materials or nose rings. That's where Pro-gress comes in. They're chill. They're nice. They're professional. They are happy for you to ask questions. They have a nice facility. They are courteous. I went in for a nose ring. They gave me a custom fit (Warlock's does this too). I bought two. Their stones are guaranteed not to pop out- an issue that a lot of nose studs seem to have. You want to get some holes pierced in you, go here. Seth is the bomb.
Review Source:I recently visited this little shop with a friend of mine who was getting her tongue pierced.
While I'm not much for piercings myself, I was very impressed with the layout of the store and the expertise with which the employees handled everything. Â
They were very informative, helpful and kind with helping to pick out jewelry, making sure she knew what to expect and providing proper aftercare instructions.
As far as I know, Pro*Gress is Raleigh's only specialized piercing store, and the care and pride they take in doing their jobs well is evident.
I would not hesitate to come here to get a piercing. The work they do speaks for itself.
