If I could give this place zero stars, I probably would. Upon walking in with my boyfriend, the assistant at the desk just gave us this vacant look as if he didn't know what he was doing there, and he didn't know what we were doing there. In fact, the only person who greeted us was CHARLES who was already with a client and was already doing some amazing work. It was a saturday afternoon and there was only one other customer. My boyfriend and I did a walk in with the tattoo image on the ready and just needed some touch ups before stenciling and then inking. When SAM came in to assist us, he just looked like he had some place he'd rather be. When I told him that the design I came up with should be touched up to avoid the words from bleeding into each other in the future, he just waved me off dismissively.
Before stenciling, I asked SAM as to how he charges as an artist and when he nonchalantly replied that it was by size, I already had an estimate of the price. Some artist charge by hour, some by image, and some by size. The most EXPENSIVE that an artist charges by hour is usually $80/hr. By size, my boyfriend's tattoo would be ranging from about below his collar bone on his left peck to his mid peck, at most, it would've been about $150 or maybe $200 including tip (it was a quote tattoo.)
After my boyfriend was all inked up and SAM told him to go take a look at it, not only did we find missing lines in the text, but also places in the text that wasn't filled in. OH and by the way, he was using just a plain DRY PAPER TOWEL to wipe the ink off while tattooing my boyfriend. SERIOUSLY BRO YOU'RE FUNNY. You're suppose to use a tattoo-rag that is STERILIZED aren't you?! I don't know, maybe look over to CHARLES who is actually being professional about his work? So I asked him to fix some parts of the tattoo and actually PUT IN the missing line-work and curvatures and guess what, he hurriedly, half-@$$ed-ly filled it in and was ready to charge us. He charged us $300 for less than 1hr of work. Not to mention it was so half-assed that it could be deemed incomplete. DO NOT COME HERE FOR SAM. If anything, schedule or do a walk in with CHARLES. He's got some amazing work and actually appears to be serious about his profession.
If you are a fan of Asian style tattoos, this place is awesome. More specifically, Charles Ong, who started my Tiger sleeve is the best! This place is sandwiched in between a few shops, but it easy to find.
Came here last week and met up with Charles for the first time. He's very easy to talk to, down to earth and has none of that ego or condescending tone you might see elsewhere. I told him what I wanted, he showed me a sketch and he began. I was in the chair for about 4 hours and although it was painful, Charles has a light hand and finished quit a bit in that time frame. It turned out great and it was beyond my expectations. It's still a work in progress, but can't wait to finish it up. I have already received compliments on it, peeling skin and all! :)
The shop itself is small, but has enough space to fit in more than enough people. It's nice, clean and just the way I like it. Apparently, they also do piercings. So if you need some quality work done at affordable prices, this is the place to go. Will definitely be coming back to Charles and Showdown for all my future tattoos.
I've been brought to this place and have only been coming here to get work done and get ideas. George Trujillo is a talented artist and is very detailed in his work and is the reason I always go to him. The new place is awesome and is very welcoming. I recommend anyone who's looking to get some ink or a piercing to check it out.
Review Source:Awesome work done here! I have got 3 tattoos from Sam, each one is amazing. I recommend this shop to everyone who asks me about my tattoos. I keep returning for more. Amazing portraits done here.. I have 2 done so far and more to come. For all you cheap people remember this, cheap tattoos aren't good, and good tattoos aren't cheap. Can't wait to go back in.
Review Source:My favorite tattoo artist is Jorge Trujillo. Everyday I have people grabbing my arm and taking pictures of the portraits he's done on me of Marilyn & Lucille Ball. I am beyond satisfied with his work and he never takes a long time with my portraits. He is very light handed and detailed with his work. I can't wait to get more done by the best ink man out there.
Review Source:Jorge is one of the best artist in this area. He has done one full sleeve and working on the other. Not pricey at all for the quality of work you get.... Words to live by, "good work isn't cheap, cheap work isn't good"..... Just saying he is a great artist at a reasonable price....I won't go anywhere else for work....
Review Source:I use to think this place was good, but after my  third piercing,  I thought otherwise.
My first piercing I got here was my industrial. I had it done by the owner of the shop and I loved it. He was super nice!
BUT THEN... after my second and third piercing... I had different people. I had my lip piercings done here. The first time, they did it very crooked, so it wouldn't heal properly, because it would somehow always get stuck in my skin. I then had to get it re-pierced and the second time they made it too far down. It wasn't even near my lips. It was so ugly that I took it out! Such a waste of my time and money! ($120 including tips!)
Then I decided to give them another chance with my ears (helix), I mean it's just ears, what could go wrong right? I had a noob guy that acted like he knew what he was doing, telling me that he's been doing it for years... BULL SHIT! He freaking pierced my helix sideways... who does that?! Then I had it redone again and it was going downwards just like how my lip piercing was the first time.
They still charge you to get your piercings re-pierced, such a rip off! Too bad I was in high school and didn't know yelp existed back then when I got all these piercings done. I would have went to another place instead.
I also took one of my friends here to get her belly pierced and the lady that pierced it pierced it crooked. I felt so bad for my friend.
I think this place changed owners. The old owner was way better.
THIS PLACE SUCKS!! Wasted over $200 getting piercings here!!
Go to Future Tattoos and Piercings and look for Chris. He does an excellent job and he actually does know what he's doing. He's super nice too!!
(BTW. this review is only for piercings.)
BACKKKK in the day with the previous owner (when it was merely a piercing place), i thought this place was AWESOME! i got a bunch of my piercings there. it's been many many years since i had been there last but i went back recently with a friend that wanted to get a piercing...the atmosphere has changed now. the tv was so freaking loud that i could barely even hear myself think! AWFUL CUSTOMER SERVICE! the dude behind the counter barely even acknowledged our existence.
after waiting just about forever to get helped...my friend went in to get pierced. the chick that pierced her was really cool (and the only reason why i'm giving them two stars instead of one). she was super friendly and funny and talked my friend through the entire process. Â
since i was there, i thought i'd ask about retouching my tat. i asked that same dude that was behind the counter and he "jokingly" suggested that i cover my tat (as in, get something else over it) instead of retouching it. ummmm, RUDE!!!! anyways, he really irritated me. and i'll for SURE never be going back there again. they also have a minimum $80 for tattoos, which i think is a lil too much. so if you're looking for a place to get a tiny tattoo, this place isn't for you!
It may be a bit odd to write a review of a tattoo/piercing parlor. Most of the time, people hop on Yelp for assistance with making more short-term decisions, like finding out where to eat dinner, or whether a bar has good parking. Sometimes, though, someone is looking to get a permanent tattoo, or perhaps a piercing, and they want to use a clean, reputable, competently-staffed, excellent shop. SHOWDOWN IS THAT SHOP.
I have spent over twelve hours "in the chair" at Showdown (and at a tattoo expo being tattooed by Jorge from Showdown), and I cannot recommend this place highly enough. I have requested colorful, complicated tattoos, and Jorge delivers every time. In fact, the last time I was inked by Jorge (a mere 2.5 hour session), my wife was blown away by the finished product, and said, I quote, "Oh my God. Oh my God. Oh my God. Benjamin! That's beautiful!" I know what she said because I liked it so much I wrote it down.
The artists are professional and talented, and do a wide variety of styles. In fact, the shop sometimes runs monthly specials based on the type of tattoo (check them out on Facebook for more details). In my opinion, you cannot go wrong with Showdown.
Read these reviews and went to Showdown, do happy I did! Since I'm a lady I was really interested in finding a shop that was way friendly.
Got my ink with STEVE, I came in with one idea and he was way honest and gave his professional opinion. So i ended up getting all the ideas i was committed to in 2 separate tattoos instead of 1. He was so right and both of them look amazing. Got my foot done which was painful, BUT, he has a real light hand and he works fast so I'm sure it hurt a lot less then it could have.
More then anything i loved the chill atmosphere and would come back to Steve for sure. Â From the work I watched being done on my breather breaks, everyone there does incredible work. :)
came here for my tattoo from jorge a while back ((WICKED ARTEEST)) very DETAILED & thats what i LOVE about all the artists here, my sister christine works here too, i recently went over there agin to get pierced on my bottom belly button, my sister chritine works there, she did it for me & of course an awesome job, she is also very detailed with her work. TRUE what they say about the good vibe here, always feel at home coming to this spot..

Awesome artists, close to home, and reasonable prices, what more can you ask for? Showdown Tattoo is an awesome little gem in the Walnut area - totally hole in the wall. Once inside, feel at home, watch a movie as the guys prep the work to ink or pierce you.
I came in yesterday to get a tattoo concept put on my right forearm. Vinnie was cool enough to help me out, retouching my initial concept, stencil, and all the way to final finish project. They won't put it on you unless it's awesome to them. I'm impressed by his work on my tatt, I won't hesitate to recommend this place to other locals.
Let me break it down for you...
The Shop-
Okay, so we all know I like tattoos. Well if you didn't, now you do. I have been to many tattoo shops and have been tattooed and pierced at many of them. Honestly, most tattoo shops are so cold and unwelcoming. I love coming to showdown because it feels like a family works here. You can instantly feel the good vibes here. No one is here to act to cool school or put up some front that there harder than you. I mean if you're going to get tattoo for hours upon hours why not feel comfortable.
The artists-
All of the artists do phenomenal work. They won't put it on you unless they really feel it looks amazing. I've had work done by almost of the shop and I am super stoked with all my tattoos and piercings. My last piece was a portrait of Patsy Cline that Jorge did on my back. I get compliments on it non-stop.
Thank you Showdown for all your amazing work!!
What a hidden gem! I came here once a long time ago with a friend. Just in and out for a piercing she got. I never knew I would be back. I've been looking for a good artist. Â I had an idea for my next tattoo. Had a bunch of images ready. I wanted it custom.
I saw Manuel Trujillo's work on their myspace page. He does great work! I went down to Showdown Tattoo about 2 weeks ago. I Â met with him and gave him my ideas. He had a sketch drawn up within a few days. It came out great! I was very excited!
Went in yesterday for a 4-5 hr session. The tattoo came out great. The service was great! The shop is in a place you never thought there would be a tattoo shop. They have a waiting area with a TV. Bunch of movies laying around. I'll be back in about a month for some touch ups and to give Manuel my next ideas.
