Just had the BEST experience here! Amanda is a fantastic piercer! Went in today to get my nose re-pierced and boy did she do a great job! Not only is the price extremely reasonable ($30), but her bedside manner is wonderful! She really puts you at ease! My husband and I also really liked the spaciousness of the parlor and how clean and organized it was! We are definitely going to go back here for any of our piercing/tattooing needs!

The place was very affordable especially for three piercings, Amanda the piercer was very informative made us feel at ease etc. i had my nose pierced a month before and a bump had formed but wasn't a keloid and she helped me get rid of it free of charge. Review Source:First visit was great. I had lost the ball to my earring and went to buy a new one. i definitely was looking for something more and was asked for a diamond studded ball. Amanda is the piercer there and she was really kool and helpful, she said she could order me a swarovski crystal one or just a plain crystal ball and would get it to me the next day or so.
So I waited, and after about 72 hours passed I didn't get a call from her AND the ball that came with the earring i got for temporary - feel out! Â so I called her, AGAIN. Â She said she didn't have it, and was gonna go pick it up at a store and call me the next day. Â Next day comes and I don't hear from her at all. Four days pass, (and btw I'm wearing the hoop on my ear without the ball now for almost a week) I call her again telling her I'll come by to pick up the ball I ordered, she tells me that she is waiting it for it to be delivered and it should come in that day?! I'm thinking she already has it since she told me that a week ago....so I let it go and ask her to call me as soon as it delivers.
I haven't heard from her since. I took my business elswhere. OUTER LIMITS to be exact. They had a huge variety of earrings and crystal balls to go with! No ordering. No waiting.
One word.....AMANDA!!!! Â I have major issues w my ears.....keloids :0(. Im so glad i went to Skanvas!!!! Â She's freakin awesome.....never go to get your ears pierced with those nasty dirty guns at the mall!!!!! Â Â Amanda was so sweet and passionate about her job!!! I will go back and get my 2nd holes soon!!!!!
Review Source:I have been to numerous tattoo shops and this one by far is the cleanest, and NICEST shop I have been to. The friendly staff greets you the moment you walk in. Not everyone is used to walking in a tat spot so i know that awkward feeling from other places and I did not get that here. You can tell they take pride in the shop. The iPad tat albums that hold their sample work look professional(not the traditional grimy photo albums that are all worn out and faded), the decor is awesome and the big LCD screen keeps you entertained while getting inked but most of all, it smells CLEAN! After you see the place, you get scared to ask how much, but the prices are real reasonable! I have gotten inked here 4 times and can't see myself going anywhere else!

My friend and I spontaneously decided to get cartilage piercings and stumbled upon this place. Â First of all, I was very nervous about going into a Tattoo shop and having everyone look at me degradingly (I literally walked in wearing a white collared blouse okay). Â I thought "I won't fit in, they will think I'm a goodie-two-shoes, what should I do?" Â But my experience was COMPLETELY different than I had imagined it would be. Â First of all, Amanda Grant is probably one of the most genuine, down-to-earth, friendly, welcoming, non-judgmental woman I have ever encountered! Â She was very easy to talk to and her humble attitude totally calmed my nerves. Â I am definitely going back again (even though I live 45 minutes away, I wouldn't dream of going anywhere else). Â ALSO the store is very clean! Â No groddiness here, let me tell you. Â
side note: please give Amanda a generous tip if you get your piercings from her. Â I left the shop in such an elated mood that I completely forgot to tip her!!! I felt horrible, and will DEFINITELY give her a generous tip next time I visit the shop.

I wanted to get my helix pierced two days ago but since I am not from around here, I turned to Yelp for help in finding a place. On my way in, Amanda greeted me before I even hit the sidewalk asking what I wanted to get done today. We chatted outside for a bit and can I say she may be one of the friendliest people I know! She is very knowledgeable about what she does and although I was always told that a hoop would be best, She told me that a hoop is easier to do, the stud would have a much smaller chance for infection.
She has a good amount of jewelry to choose from. While filling out my paperwork, she went back and sanitized everything (including the piece of jewelry I picked out). Her piercing area in the back is clean and comfortable but once seeing the size of the needle she was going to use, I could feel my heart speeding up. That thing looked HUGE! Best part was that she said she would go up a size too because I have thicker cartilage which scared me even more. But no way was I going to admit that!
I gave her free reign on where to put the piercing so she marked where she thought it would heal the nicest, marked it and then handed me a mirror to see if I liked where it was. After approving, she went ahead and pierced me. Boy could I feel myself heating up but she kept talking to me the entire time. It honestly didn't hurt (I may just have a higher pain tolerance) and I did not hear any crunching (which is what I was expecting). She had it done so fast even my friend that was with me was shocked.
Amanda was definitely amazing. She even said if I find a piece of jewelry I liked and purchased to please bring it in so that she could sanitize it for me and then change it out. She doesn't charge to change out out the jewelry showing she genuinely cares about your well being.
I already want another piercing and I know for sure I will be coming back here! Her prices are AMAZING by the way. $30 for the piercing AND the jewelry.
Love this shop! Amanda is the best piercer, very friendly and eased my mind sooo much! I had gotten my 2 tragus pierced and it was very painful since I had a thicker tragus AND at the time I had a 1 or 2 week old snake bite on my right mid-cartilage area but she really did her best to help my pain :) She used a Marilyn sort of piercing for mine, with a cute little diamond-like jewel, it cost me $50 for both including the jewelry too but it's worth it! You can easily pay $40 PER ear but Amanda gave me a steal. She's super clean and uses a sterile needle vs. the Claire's ear gun.
Overall, I loved my experience and if I need another piercing  I'd come to her :)
P.S. I don't know his name, but there is this white, tall, short-haired man that works there, God he's so hot...
Got more piercings from Amanda, second time. She gave me ptfe piercings, under the collar bones.
First off, I came right at closing. I drove over an hour just to go back to her because that's how much I trust her. I called her asking if she could stay a bit late. She and the others were ready to go party and have fun, but she actually waited for my ass and didnt even trip 1% about it. Very cool of her - how many people are that understanding?
Anyways, she did the piercing. Kinda hurt a bit, but the pain is awesome. For some reason, I got a little faint/sick this time. Even though she was getting ready to go out and party, she didnt rush me out one bit - got me water, and made sure I took time before I stood up. I felt a little embarrassed but only because of my ego not Amanda or her cool husband (man those nip piercings are sick).
Don't know what else to say - this place is clean, the other artists are friendly, and Amanda is cool. I would drive 3 hrs to get a piercing here (never gotten a tattoo here, but their work looks good!).
Whoa!! Â Is all I can really think of right now. Â I got a tattoo from Dustin and I am just so freaking happy with it. Â I searched online for many tattoo shops, and not one can compare to this shop. Â
I don't know what else to say about Dustin besides the fact that his work, attitude, work ethics, everything was freaking great!!

The people here are just that genuinely nice and helpful. One thing I can't stand is being ignored or brushed over in a tattoo spot just because I'm not walking in covered in ink from head to toe, and I experienced the complete opposite here. Got a double nose piercing done by Amanda, who is super knowledgeable about what she does. She even gave me care tips for a piercing I had before that didn't turn out so great. She was extremely pleasant my whole time there, and gave my little sister a ton of stickers to take home. We walked out with hugs and all smiles.

We got recommended to this place by our good friend whose gotten all his tattoos here.
I did my consultation over email since I'm from the Bay and Dustin was nice and chill about it. I think I contacted him about a month in advance. When I came into the shop it was super clean and all the artists are very helpful and friendly. My piece cost me $200 (without tip) for a black and gray 5 by 5 on my ribs. I actually don't know if that's expensive or cheap since I have nothing to really compare this experience with, but I'm hella happy with my tattoo so I think it was definitely worth every penny. I got a pretty detailed cross with quite a bit of shading with a quote written around it.
Like I said, I was a first timer and all the artists were saying I was pretty ballsy for getting it on my ribs. I'm not even gonna front and pretend like it didn't hurt because some parts just made me blurt out every curse word combination I know (trust I know a lot of combinations haha). I got to hold my friend's hand but I'm pretty sure I almost broke it..haha. Sorry Joseph! Anyways, no matter how much pain you are in... DO NOT ASK FOR A BREAK! I asked for a 5 minute break and everything after those 5 minutes just hurt 10x more because your skin just starts to relax and everything. So no matter how much pain you are in- just suck it up and let your artist finish!
Anyways, this is pretty long but in conclusion- I DEFINITELY RECOMMEND SKANVAS TATTOO and I AM DEFINITELY COMING BACK HERE FOR MORE! :)
This review is going to Brady, who inked my first tattoo the day after I turned 18.
I went on Yelp, looking for some advise on a tattoo I had in mind, I visited a few and felt a little shunned when I told them I just wanted advise. I pulled up to Skanvas, and right at the front door met Brady. I showed him the picture of an idea I had, but of course I wanted it original, so wanted to ask questions of price, time etc. With a greeting attitude I felt comfortable of him and decided I would come back the next day to place a deposit down. I placed $60 down and he promised a sketch, even though I couldn't get it until the day of, what he had for me was better than I could imagine. The tattoo was a cross and music notes that was going to be on my upper right arm. The day of the appointment it was all ready to go. His machine did break while doing the outlines which freaked me out a bit, but honestly it was an incredible experience. My first tattoo hurt, but not that bad. He did an amazing job at his work, perfect amount of shading, straight and bold lines, and I find it amazing it was by hand haha. Anyway, he was great, as well as the whole staff, everyone seemed so nice and fun, if I ever need anything else I'm coming back for sure and recommending my friends about this place! Must go and check it out!! I am fully satisfied with my tattoo and also, price is VERY VERY nice, hope everyone finds this useful!
I went in on Wednesday, November 7 to get my eyebrow pierced. When I got there, I met Omar. He was an awesome dude and he was very helpful. They had barely opened and Omar was locating their piercer over the phone. Moments later, Amanda (Snow) came in and she was such a wonderful person! She helped me right away. After my jewelry was sterilized, Amanda was ready to work her magic. She was very professional, really smart, you could tell she had great experience, and she was very friendly! Amanda did an Amazing job! A few days later, I'm incredibly happy with how my piercing came out. I want to thank the Skanvas team. I've been to a few different shops in the past but this by far has been one of the best experiences ever. Very professional work, super clean spot, great prices and a very friendly staff. Definitely 5 stars! If I could, I would do more. Best place ever! I absolutely recommend this shop to everyone!

So I've been thinking about a tattoo for the longest time right, cause like I wanna be cool like everyone else. Â Sick and tired of the nerd status, why must you all be cool and not me? I Â Found Skanvas on Yelp and thank you yelpers!! Emailed Dustin before I went to decide what I wanted and all those details, made my appointment. Â So I go in with the simplest design ever, a Madonna portrait that took 6 hours straight. Â Most gorgeous tattoo ever, seriously, not even cause Madonna is so freaking hot but Dustin's detailing is unbelievable, just amazing.
So last week I go to the Madonna concert and while everyone was trying to get Guy Oseary's (Madonna's manager) attention with their little one word tattoos and dumb stories I pushed a couple people and go "Hey Guy look!" and just throw my arm in front of his face. Â He stopped all else and looks at my tattoo, then at my face, tattoo, face and goes "Is this real???!!! This is unbelievable!!!". Â So he turns my arm a million times and snaps a million pictures and says "This is amazing!! Look at the detail!! Wow just wow. Â I can't...It's like...You're crazy girl! But this... this is possibly one of the best works I have ever seen. Madonna is gonna go nuts" Â Now ladies and guys, this is a man who sees Madonna every single day of his life (lucky) and has seen a gazillion Madonna tattoos so he knows what he talks about. Â So by now probably Madonna has seen my tattoo and Dustin's amazing work. Â Also people kept on stopping me to take pictures of it. Â In short thanks to Skanvas I am basically a local celebrity. Â Well maybe not, but at least nerd no more! Â Yeah I'm so pushing it, now I'm a nerd with a tattoo. Â But an awesome tattoo done at Skanvas!

I did some Yelp research around my area and found Skanvas. I had been wanting my ink for 1-2 years and finally decided what I want to get as my first tattoo this week. Then the whole process was just bam-bam-bam, done. I brought my little Chinese kanji design to Skanvas Tattoo, met Johnny, and expressed that I want some background lines to go with it. The staff there were all very welcoming. Johnny was patient and did not push me into any styles. Although I don't know what I want, I know what I DON'T want. I found myself very into thin tribal marks, so we went from there and set the date.
On Saturday he showed me his tribal design. I LOVED it! To be honest I was a little nervous and worried to see what he had to offer before I arrived because there are just so many styles. Johnny works fast and checks on you here and there. Now, I have a feeling that I'm already going to expand that ink or getting another one.
I came into Skanvas last week after reading yelp reviews. I went in for my first tattoo and I am glad I did. I was visiting my fam in LA for a couple of days, so I knew I had to get it done before heading back to NYC. ( I like the LA style better!)
I called the same day to ask if there was anyone available, they mentioned Jonathan would be able to take me, and since I had yelped before hand, I was happy it was him because I really liked his work from what I saw online.
I went in a couple hours later, everyone was very friendly and welcoming. My friend and I chilled for a couple of minutes with 2 of the other artist while my artist got back from lunch (I didn't mind the wait because we didn't really have an appointment and I was not in a big hurry). They answered all my questions, laughed at our jokes, and did as much prep work as they could while we waited.
I LOVE my tattoo!! I got a hummingbird on my back - left side. Jonathan did a great job; added all the details I liked from the example I brought in, and made sure it was exactly were I wanted it when he did the stencil. I like his style of design so I was confident going in, but he did better than I expected and I like that he added his own style to the example...completely made it better! He was really nice, and funny as well...this helped my nerves. It was reasonably priced, I really thought I would pay more, and it didn't take long at all.
I am already looking at ideas for what I can put around it for the next time I come here!
Skanvas is awesome .. once you walk in you feel a great vibe . Johnny Sin was the one who did my tattoo I had three photos of what I wanted of each and wanted it combined into one I sent him an email of the three and I was very nervous to see the outcome . When I went for my appointment I was amazed of what he had made possible . It was exactly what I wanted and even better . He talked me through the whole way since it was my first tattoo letting me know where it would hurt most and if I needed a break . I would highly recommend this place . Not only are they friendly the place is spotless most places I've gone didn't look as good . As for the pricing, you get what you paid for and probably even more . I would come here again . After my old tattoo artist started giving me the run around I went looking for a new shop to get some ink that I have been wanting for over a year and a half. I looked on yelp and ran across Skanvas Tattoo and oh boy am I happy I did. I walked in on a Friday night and met Johnny Sin. Showed him my pictures and explained to him what I wanted. After receiving a great price for my ink I scheduled and appointment with him for the next day. When I walked in 5 mins before our appointment he was already ready for me. My sketch was perfect and he captured exactly what I wanted and more! My tattoo ended up talking two sittings and over 7 Â 1/2 hours of work. I absolutely love my ink. My care bears and my little pony leg gets all the attention everywhere I go. The colors are so bright that everyone thinks it's fake! Johnny Sin is such an incredible artist! My skin will never be tattooed by anyone other than him again!

Dustin and his artists are all very professional. They make sure that you are satisfied with your tattoo and they take their time when working on you. The shop is extremely sanitary (one of the first things I looked for) and they take all the measures to make sure there's no cross contamination.
I've had 2 tattoos done, one by Jon and the other by Dustin and they're both awesome artists with different styles. They are very easy going and understandable so don't be afraid to run your concerns by them (don't be intimidated by all the tattoos on them). They were able to answer every question and address every concern that I had so that I was comfortable while getting my tattoo done.
You definitely won't be disappointed by coming to Skanvas Tattoo. I am definitely coming to them anytime I want another tattoo and I recommend this shop to anyone looking to get a tattoo.

I called yesterday and was told by the manager Tim to type what I wanted in the font that I wanted email it to them and they would check it out. Tim was very helpful and professional throughout the experience. Anyhow, I called back today and was told to come in and went in for a consultation just after 4. Skanvas did not have the font I wanted installed on their computer so they went ahead and downloaded it and prepared what I wanted (a line from the Song of Solomon). Johnny was super awesome, very personable and professional throughout. The whole process took about 2 hours including consultation and the actual tattoo itself. I am very satisfied with the results and definitely plan on returning for my next tattoo.

At first the guy said it was going to take an hour and thirty mins, but only took about thirty mins. I was so happy. He gave me a little extra shadowing on my design and it really brought it out. Loved this place and would definitely recommend it to anyone, especially if your getting your first tattoo!

Review Source:A super clean and modern tattoo studio. I call it a studio because it feels more like a studio than a "shop". Not like your typical seedy, intimidating tattoo shops. Hi-tech with displayed iPads to browse through the artists' portfolio of work. Very professional and friendly. Dustin and Jonathan are extremely talented tattoo artists and I wouldn't trust any place else to ink me up! And contact Stephen for your piercings too! I highly recommend Skanvas Tattoo!

I heard of this place through word of mouth, and it is quickly becoming a hot spot in the close knit community of 562. The guys are easy going and accommodating to meet your needs for designing flawless tattoos, esp if its your first time ; P
