I was only in Seattle for two months and had some ideas on the ink I wanted to get. I researched a few places online and made a few appointments. I actually only found Social Skins tattoo by chance on my way to another shop for an appointment.
I wanted black and grey and super super realistic.... and Bryan's portfolio at the shop showed some amazing examples of the black and grey realistic work he had done so I knew I was in the right place.
Ben his assistant with his outrageous moustache (which is rumoured to weld super powers) was very helpful and organised an appointment with Bryan. I had lots and lots of ideas and brought in heaps of images and we sat down and slowly went through all the ideas and decided on a game plan.
Long story short, I'm delighted. Over a few decent sessions I got an amazing piece done on my upper arm. Super super realistic just as I had wanted.
On a personal level Bryan is a very nice guy and as I was new in town gave me lots of great ideas on things to do and places to go.
I also had some touch up work on an old tattoo done by Ben his assistant which turned out great. Ben is also a great guy with a fashion sense as ludicrous as his moustache!!!
Shop was super clean.
All in all top guys, top shop and top tats....
(oh and Bryan's wife makes amazing guacamole)
I have to say that this is one of the best tattoo shops I've been to. Ben took my ideas, and transformed it into a beautiful piece art that I wear proudly. I haven't had work done by Bryan personally but just looking around his shop, you can tell he is extremely good at what he does! Both guys are always welcoming and very nice when you come in. It is very clean and has a relaxed vibe to it, which I love!!! I don't see myself going anywhere else.
Review Source:This place rocks! Â Bryan is one talented fellow and couldn't be nicer. Â He did a photorealistic tat of my childhood motorcycle-- IT COULD NOT LOOK BETTER.
I'm already getting tons of comments on how great it looks. Â If you need a tatoo, I would absolutely consult with Social Skins! Â Bryan will hopefully be doing all of my tatoos from now on.
My partner and I went up to Washington to get married and to remember that day we wanted to get a tattoo. We happen to stumble upon this tattoo shop and went in to talk with Brian about prices and times. Not only was the price amazingly better then the other tattoo shops around the area, but the service that we got was beyond exceptional! I am extremely happy with the work that Brian did for us. I would recommend his shop to anyone looking to get tattoos! Thank you Brian!!
Review Source:I will be going back to Brian at Social Skins tattoo, without a doubt.
I had a several sessions with Brian, we were working on a quarter sleeve on my arm. I showed up at his shop with an abstract idea that I wanted translated into art. He did an awesome job working with me, translating my ideas, and incorporating his own ideas.
I went to Brian because after looking at his portfolios I was 100% confident in his artistic ability. I wound up getting portraits in my tattoo which I originally had not been sure about. It was his portraits that really moved me, and I will recommend him to my friends or anyone else who is interested in getting portraits.
Brian and I did have slight issues around communication regarding cost of services, so I would recommend coming up with an agreement ahead of time and just making sure both parties are clear on that. I do think that what I paid for the tattoo was fair and was definitely worth it. At the time, his prices were less expensive than most Seattle tattoo artists.
I also felt that Brian took great care of his shop, I felt safe in terms of sterilization and cleanliness. Brian was also great to talk with and the whole experience was good.
When my beloved dog passed away, I knew I wanted to have his portrait done. I was very apprehensive about who would do such a special, emotional, and necessary piece. My husband introduced me to Bryan and I was intrigued by his work and decided to take the plunge. We sent Bryan pictures of my boy and I was totally nervous about how he would interpret the complexities of my Jack and how he would capture his essence without ever meeting my beautiful dog. When I received the draft via email, I broke down into tears. With a few strokes of his pencil Jack's spirit and smiled jumped out at me. The first session was very detailed and exhausting. He had such a great demeanor, was amazing to talk with, and most importantly, he understood my passion, my pain, my love, my heart, and my grief. He channeled all of that into the most beautiful piece I've ever seen. He took care of me and made me feel at ease, despite this very emotional tribute. Once the piece was finished, I walked away proud and in tears. My boy, Jack Angelo, is now with me (even his ashes are in the ink) every day and I couldn't feel more at peace than ever. I haven't known peace since his passing until Bryan finished his work. Thank you, Bryan. You brought my little boy back.
Review Source:Bryan Griffith is truly one of the premiere tattoo artists in Washington state. His shop is warm, clean, and inviting. Whether your looking to get your first tattoo or finish covering your whole body Bryan is the first person I would suggest you go see. A true custom shop, there is no flash, which means your tattoo will be so much more personal and one of a kind.
Review Source:Bryan is an exceptionally talented and highly skilled artist, maintaining both a pleasant demeanor and a disciplined, professional attitude. Â I have been tattooed exclusively by him for over 7 years working on sleeves of Tibetan artwork on both of my arms. Â Bryan gives every tattoo his own personal details while staying true to the original reference material and respect for your ideas. Â
Social Skins shop is exceedingly clean and well organized. The interior is as custom as the tattoo you will get, with mural walls created by Bryan as well. Â The tattoo stations are sterile and physically separated from entry seating but provide a space for friends to visit while you are being worked on. There are several chairs, tables and support hardware options if you need to hold an angle while being tattooed, so that you can maximize your comfort. Â
I may be biased because I now consider Bryan to be a friend, but I think that's just more testament to what a great experience I've had. Â For your custom tattoo you could not do better than to visit Bryan at Social Skins.
The shop looks amazing. Great design, clean, amazingly friendly staff. Great artists that take their time and work with you creating one of a kind art for you to keep. I met the owner Brian who was very helpful and friendly. My appointment was with Trevor. I will be back very soon. Pleased with the results, the price, and the artists. This shop may be new to the hill, but I am certain it will fast become a neighborhood favorite. Can't say enough great things about this place.
Review Source:Trevor Shaw is an amazing artist! I have a couple tattoos , and plan to get more work done in the future! He does really good line work, and is extremely articulate. He also gives good advice on cover ups, and will draw you up a beautiful tattoo if you let him. The shop is sophisticated, classy and over all an awesome group of people who work there and truly care about their work, as well as the client. It is also a lot cleaner than most tattoo shops in Seattle.
Review Source:I highly reccomend Trevor Shaw. He did my entire back piece. I have a traditional style Japanese back piece from my shoulder blades down to the bottom of both but checks. Â I have worked with Trevor for years and nothing beats his level of pure talent. I live in Chicago and i only get my artwork done by him. I wait months for when he comes to visit just so i can have him tattoo me. Before Trevor my work was lacking, now iv had him fix up and cover up bad tattoos by other artists. My cover ups are even amazing.
Review Source:im writing more of a review about there new artist trevor shaw hes new in town but the work he does is amazing and he puts his time and best effort into everything he works on treats all his clients great and ensures that everything he does is nothing but quality the japanese art he does is awesome and his traditional only keeps getting better dont feel shy bout asking for work from this guy even with a busy schedule he'll find a way to make time for everyone and his prices are not only good but worth it
Review Source:These guys are terrific. After a beyond disappointing experience with another tattoo place (all the personality of a three week old dead dog) I walked into Social Skins and loved it the minute I got there. Â We'll get to the level of talent in a moment, but...
Great customer service. Friendly, easy going, listen to you, answer your questions, work with you... can't say enough. the other place? like I said, dead dog.
I worked with Bryan Griffith and feel a little ashamed that I had wanted something so simple (just a couple words arranged nicely) but you could tell that he loves what he does and puts just as much care into simple little things like I wanted as he does on the bigger, more artistic projects.
Trevor was there and joined in with taking a picture of the work so i could send it on.
Great guys. Nice establishment. Squeaky clean.
highly highly highly recommend them. And if you go in and check them out, look through their books. Â WOW!!!!
Bryan Griffith, who used to work at Apocalypse Tattoo, has opened his own shop and it is amazing! The interior is fantastic and clean. I love how the set up is so open, but boundaries are clearly defined to prevent contamination and/or the encroachment of strangers with a distorted sense of personal space. And, as usual, Bryan is the most talented tattoo artist ever. He does such a phenomenal job of discussing your tattoo ideas with you, creating the perfect image, and transferring that on to your skin for you to have for ever and ever.
