The love for this place grows a little more ever since I went for the first time when it was under different ownership. Love, please do not mistake for like.
I would love to know why anyone would shit-talk this place because the people are awesome here. Totally professional and friendly. The first time I went I had my entire back done by a guy who is no longer there, but for a year I strayed around to different places until a friend recommended me to Brett, who is now my go-to tattoo guy. He's amazing with shading and great with proportions. It's a trek from where I live but I'll travel far and wide to come back! :)
I stopped into Stained in Pain to get my third tattoo after a 17 year hiatus. Â I brought in artwork ahead of time and Friski drew up the perfect reflection of my inspiration piece. Â
My tattoo took a couple of hours, but Friski did an excellent job of making sure I was as comfortable as possible. Â My finished tattoo turned out better than I could have imagined. Â The lines are perfectly straight and there are so many details that give the piece depth. Â A couple days later, it is healing beautifully and I can really start to see all of the stunning nuances of the tattoo. Â Friski is a true talent. Â I wouldn't hesitate to get another tattoo from him. Â I'll be back soon.
I came here for my second tattoo after I saw my sons tattoo. It turned out that my sons friend Kevin is a tattoo artist.
The place is pretty cool inside. It is an old Chicago style building and they set it up like you would expect a tattoo shop to be set up. I was able to email Kevin a drawing of what I wanted. What he drew up was a little of from what I wanted so he was able to take a couple of minutes to modify the drawing to what I wanted. He started and before you knew it he was done. He even invited me back if I wanted or needed touch ups.
I'll be back
AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Especially Eric Murillo. I walked in here on Monday during the day and didn't see one customer. After speaking with Eric, he assured me that he could have what I wanted drawn up and ready for a 7pm appointment on the following Thursday. When I arrived, Eric was standing out front and informed me that he was going to email me later about another artist who was "Better with black and shading". Upon being introduced to this new artist, he didn't know a thing about an appointment or what I wanted for a tattoo..
What gets me the most is that I gave him the picture to draw and told him about another artist at another shop who did the exact same thing to me!
If anyone knows where Steins from Jade Dragon or Matt from Family Tatto have gone, please inform me! Both of these guys have done work on me and are fantastic!!!!!
I HATE BEING LIED TO! Thats exactly what these guys did to me and I hope people see this post and steer clear of this place!
By far one of the fastest up and coming spots for tattoos..... It seems like all the great artists I have heard of are flocking to this shop. I personally have been tattooed by "pinga" and "cadilliac bob" on multiple occasions and have always been thrilled with their work and plan to check out other artists I have heard of doing great work from friends. I have even had shotty work from early in my year fixed at this shop. It has a super comfortable vibe and is EXTREMELY CLEAN which is EXTREMELY IMPORTANT to little ol me. Their prices are some of the most reasonable in Chicago for the quality of work you recieve. Don't waste your time or money anywhere else..... lets remember people this is on your body forever. Take it from me, I have many a tattoo from the old "lame "dragon that bit the big one and I hate not to mention one or two from the gag factory back in the day before I was legal to get a tattoo. This is a good old fashion family style shop with a modern twist, theres  lots to look at like a little art muesum. Check it out!!
