One of the friendliest shops in town! I had attempted to go to 3 other shops with no luck. (I booked an appt with one and they never held it, I was asked for a tip at another and one shop had artists refusing to work on my piece.) All I wanted was a 50 cent- sized, no color paw print.
I was brought to Studio 21 for a reason! Not only was everything clean and organized- I have a mild case of OCD- the staff was very friendly. Nick was the perfect artist too! In additional to being super friendly, talented and creative; he is a dog lover too!
Thanks again for a great experience!! I will be back for sure!!
After reading all these great reviews I was sure this was the place for my next tattoo. I was heading to Vegas in a week so I emailed this past Friday to make an appointment. I got a reply two days later (last night), but it was polite and apologized for the delay. The day I wanted was full but they had two available times the following day. I replied to the email just a couple hours after I received it to say I would take the earlier of the times, and that I'd call them today to get my deposit set up.
I called this afternoon, and I guess they aren't too good at checking their emails because they informed me they gave away the time they offered me. The woman on the phone said "I literally just booked it like 10 minutes ago". Why offer me a time if you were just going to give it away? She then told me they gave the appointment to "a regular". That really made me feel important to them (NOT!). So with no other time available during my visit and no attempt to reconcile the situation to keep me interested in becoming a client, I told her I guess I'd have to go somewhere else. She said sorry, and that was it.
My last tattoo experience was at a shop I trusted, but the customer service, and the artist's demeanor and lack of skill set the bar pretty low to give me a good experience for my next. Sad to say Studio 21 didn't do much better....and I never even got to have work done. The customer service was a massive disappointment.
Mr. Charles Spencer, you have done it once again !!
Every time I visit Studio 21 to add to my collection of ink, I think that there is NO WAY you can top my previous piece, and every time, you prove me wrong !!
Well sir, you have accomplished that once again this afternoon !!
You have created another masterpiece on my old, decrepit, wrinkly body !!
Yes !! Once again, I am not afraid to look in the mirror since I get to gaze at another wonderful Studio 21 creation !!
A million thanks to you sir !!
You always seem to make an otherwise dreary day, an absolutely great one !!
On a side note....It's NOT solely the tattoos that gives you the 5 star rating,,,,
It's the atmosphere of your shop, the friendliness of your staff, the feeling that you love what you're doing and the PRIDE that shows in your eyes when you look at the finished piece !!
NOW, with that said, it's been 5 hours since I left and I have to start planning my next visit !!!!
I hate to say it, particularly about a permanent piece of art on my body, but:
Meh. Â I've had better. Â 2 stars.
Don't get me wrong. Â My tattoo from Studio 21 (my second) is not a disaster. Â The place is nice, clean, friendly, responsive to email and phone calls, and my artist, Nick, had a great personality and is apparently, in general, a great artist. Â
That said, I got a simple, all black geometric design about 1.5" tall and 3.5" wide. Â About 10 days after the fact, the color packing looks good. Â And about half of the design is as perfect as can be expected. Â But about half of the lines that should be parallel are not, about half of the corners are blurred, and about half of elements that were supposed to be symmetrical are not. Â I pointed out one area in particular before I left, but Nick assured me it just looked wonky due to swelling. Â Unfortunately, not so. Â Not that these defects can be fixed by touch up, but still. Â I realize human skin isn't perfect, but the fact that generally the same corner of the shapes (top left) and not the other corners were imperfect, indicates to me that the medium was not the issue. Â
To make clear I am not ranting in the dark, I also have a more intricate geometric design (my first tattoo), done by an artist close to home, that is damned near perfect. Â It took almost twice as long (nearly two hours) as this tattoo, and frankly I'd have rather sat for another hour and paid twice as much for another damn near perfect tattoo. Â
But for the issues I've described, the price of $150 was reasonable.
Seems like others have had better results with Studio 21. Â Oh well.
I'm always apprehensive about, well... everything!
A tattoo though, I think tops my list of things that I most fear, not because of the pain, but the permanency and finding a good artist is a dime a dozen.
I found out about this place from a friend of mine, and I now don't think I will go anywhere else.
First of all I don't make it a habit to call tattoo spots cute, but! the layout of the store is awesome! on to the important stuff, the staff is superb, very polite and informative, and my artist Jason Paxman knows exactly what he is doing!
I don't think I need to go anywhere else!
Went in for my first tattoo. The receptionist Penny was well trained & knowledgeable about the services. She directed me to artist Jason who consulted with me free of charge. He took my sketch & in about 15 minutes made a stencil for me to review. I liked it & with no appointment they had me on the table. In 30 minutes I had my first tat. Pain was minimal maybe 6 on a 10 scale. I also paid less than I was quoted. I will be back with my girlfriend if she is up to it!
Review Source:Had such a good experience at this place! They were pacient with me...the nervous nancy who never got a tattoo before. They were affordable, especially compared to the places I looked into on the strip that quoted me $400 for a tiny script tattoo...um no. Very clean, very helpful staff.
Review Source:A few years ago I went the cliche, "I'm in Vegas, let's go crazy and get my first tattoo here!" route. (Seriously, tattoo shops in Vegas must make so much money off us tourists.) I went to a bunch of different places on the Strip who quoted me a price that was way out of my starving college student budget. Then I found an ad for Studio 21 and decided I'd make this place my one last shot.
They managed to fit me in due to a cancellation. (thanks, whoever you were!) I'd been planning on the design (Celtic style cross with shamrock) for quite awhile, but forgot to bring the picture with me on my trip... what I wound up handing the artist as my source material was a rushed drawing of the design done by my friend on the only paper we had- the back of a Walgreens receipt. Still, the artist managed to make it into something I was so impressed with. He even gave some suggestions on how to improve the design; those wound up being my favorite parts about the whole piece.
It might be kind of weird to be writing this when my tattoos a few years old, but I think it's worth noting that my tattoo still looks fantastic after all this time. Also, it only set me back $100 (without tip) compared to the $400 most places on the Strip wanted. Totally worth it to venture off the beaten path and get away from the tourist traps of the Strip.
Just had my first Tattoo with two Chinese characters on my arm done by Phil. Poor Phil, had to endure us teaching him how to write Chinese and we are glad he was very patient.
I was quoted less to have it done at Skin Design, but in the end, it was the cleanliness and brightness of the place that attracted me to have it done here. Plus, the staff is very nice here.
You can agonize over decisions or you can just do them when the time feels right, and I picked door number two.
This place is clean, and whether or not it is "expensive" is not for me to say. Do I want to cheap out on a permanent decision? I've certainly spent more on less.
Phil was my artist, and he was quiet, fairly quick for the 30 minutes of endorphins that ensued when the needle started buzzing, and he was meticulous in getting the lettering and spelling done correctly.
For the end, they had Vita Coco for sale, which was a nice, classy touch and bought me back to earth.
Venture off the strip and be rewarded.
Got my tattoo done by Swarm when I was visiting a couple weeks ago. He pulled it off perfectly. Piano keys on my shoulder- absolutely perfect. I would come back to him for sure, if I ever decide to get another tattoo. Only complaint is that I was overcharged by the receptionist and after two phone calls, it still isn't handled. Other than that, very happy:)
Review Source:Clean place, clean tattoos. I got my first tattoo here and I loved it. I had Phil and he was super chill. All of the artists here have great portfolios though. Yes, they are expensive but it's worth it. This is my usual tattoo spot from now on.
Second time, I got Charlie. He's the best! Such a nice and interesting person. His passion for tattooing resonates in his artwork. He really took his time to give me a quality tattoo. Either that, or he was purposely torturing me. If I ever want a classic American tattoo, I will definitely request him.
Like others, I decided to get my first tattoo in Vegas. Â My Husband and I were in Vegas over Valentine's day and after plotting my tattoo for about a year, I decided Valentine's Day (our 10th Anniversary) was the perfect day to get my 1st Tat. Â So, we called in the morning and were able to get an appointment the same day (thanks to some pleading from my Husband, since it was only going to be a small tat).
Yes, I know I could have probably gotten my tat, and infinity symbol with the work love intertwined in it, cheaper back home, but for me I wanted to get my first tattoo somewhere meaningful that I would enjoy looking back on. Â So, we arrived around 3pm and I worked with Swarm to get my perfect tat drawn up. Â After a revision we got it and started the process.
Though it was slightly painful, since it was on the back of my neck, Swarm made me feel comfortable - talking me through the whole thing. Â Coincidentally, Swarm is really info sports, so my Husband and him seemed to hit it off based on their mutual interest. Â After a short 10 minutes my tat was done, and I couldn't be more happy with the result.
I would highly recommend this shop to anyone looking for a tat in Vegas. Â I felt Swarm gave me a reasonable price, the shop was clean and very professional, and clearly they do great work. Â What else could you want??? Â Needless to say, if I, or anyone else I know is in Vegas and wants to get a tattoo, I know where we will be going!
For my boyfriend's dad's birthday we went to Vegas! Â And the whole family decided to get Tattoos - since I was the only one who had tattoos, I was responsible for finding a good shop - for reviews and convenience to where we were staying, I chose Studio 21.
Courtney helped me make the reservations, she was super nice and informative. Â My only gripe was I think the pricing structure was misleading, but that could just be what she's been told to say.
Once we got there everyone was introduced to their "artist" and away everyone went to get tattooed.  Nick, was hands down the best all around one there!!!!!!!  He was SUPER informative, patient and all around very good at doing fine lines, quickly and clearly.  Two of us went to Nick and they both love their tattoos and raved about Nick.  The other two guys (brothers), not so much.  The drawings were both simple - one was a standard deck of cards off their drawing list!!!  While I appreciate that fact that drawings get more difficult the smaller they are - you gotta tell the client that!!! Anyway, both tattoos by the brothers are flawed  - the deck of cards was about the size of a golfball (I was quoted $80 on the phone) cost $200 - REALLY??????  And my boyfriends which was fairly simple lines, was uneven - dramatically and cost $250!!!!!
My Girl, Ellie at FTW Tattoo in Oakland ROCKS, and would have charged WAY less for a WAY better tattoo.
Get yours fine lines down a bit better guys and you could ear another star!
Pros - Clean Tattoo shop, Friendly front of house gal, Nick the artist is the Bomb!!! (Nick, you may want to head up to the Bay Area with your personality and skills, you'd kill it!)
Cons - Way too expensive for what you get........even for Vegas!
I had a wonderful experience at Studio 21. This was my second tattoo and all I have to say about my experience is positive. First of all, the staff is very friendly and helpful. The enviornment is clean and the atmosphere is so unique for each artist's area. Jason is a true artist who made the experience memorable with not only his artistic views brought to my piece but his humor. I will definitely go back here for my next one. :]
Review Source:I got my first tattoo here because I read some great reviews on here and also some of my friends recommended it. I called them and got an appointment in just the next day. My artist was Swarm. I wasn't too nervous but he definitely made me not nervous at all. He was very friendly and I made him sketch my piece over and over again... I felt so bad but hey a tattoo is forever so I have to make sure I love it. He didn't seem to have a problem with doing it over several times. Since it was my first tattoo, he thoroughly explained all of the steps to me, that was definitely appreciated. My tattoo took about 3 hours and during the whole time he talked to me and made me feel at ease. He seemed to really care about my piece, he even asked several of the other artists to check it and see if the lettering was ok and if it was centered. It was a good feeling to know that he actually cared. All of the other staff was really nice as well. The shop is really clean and it feels very professional. I really wanted to go back here to get my next tattoo but the only negative thing about Studio 21 is the prices are a bit high. I wish it wasn't so pricey because I would definitely go back to Swarm.
All in all, worth checking out and talk to the artists maybe you can get a reasonable deal.
Decided to get some ink done at this location after reading some very good reviews about them on Yelp and since my artist moved out of town. The shop itself is clean and the staff is helpful. After reviewing each artist and their portforlieos it was clear that not a single artist had the same style- each was very different and unique, which meant, customers had a specific artist they could turn to depending on the style of work they wanted to have done.
I spoke with Phil about the type of work I wanted to have done, he provided input and even suggested I use another artist that might do a better job, but after working out the details, I felt he could do the job just right..
I was satisfied with the work but I think it was an easy piece to do. Phil was ok, really quiet most of the time, which made the two hour session a little boring. I liked my my old tattoo guy better though..
I would recommend this place to anyone but be aware that the prices are a bit high.. I'm sure if the quality is worth it though...
My wife decided to get her first tattoo today while visiting Vegas. Â After doing some research, we decided to give Studio 21 a shot. Â
We got there right as they opened and were greeted with a very cool, laid back environment. Â They have a lot of sample artwork to check out and the artist she had, Josh, had a portfolio to check through as well.
Since this was her first tattoo, she was extremely nervous. Â Josh was great explaining everything to her before, during and after the work was done. Â
The rest of the staff was very cool as well. Â
My wife loves her new tattoo and can't stop staring at it.
One of our friends we were staying with had one of her older tattoos touched up and added to by Mike today as well. Â She loved the result.
Here I am, a middle-aged housewife from out of town looking to do something a little wild in Vegas. Â My husband and I had recently celebrated our thirty year wedding anniversary and I decided to make-good on the a threat I'd been entertaining for at least ten years to get a commemorative tattoo. Â The kanji of his Japanese family name. Â It was a simple little thing, but the artistic staff at Studio 21 took it very seriously. Â And they treated me very professionally. Â Certainly I could have been treated like a small trivial job, but Charlie, the owner worked patiently with my brother-in-law to get the design just right and then he inked me. Â
Yes, I'm the only one in my family with a tattoo. Â Yes, I am the first one of my friends to get a tattoo. Â But I certainly don't regret it. Â The staff at Studio 21 Tattoo Gallery made this a very positive experience for me. Â Will I get another tattoo? Â Nope. Â Would I recommend them to others? Â Absolutely!
Real quick update:
I flew to Japan in end of March of 2010. 13 hour flight. With a pretty fresh tattoo (the peacock on my center back.)
After getting all settled in over in the Land of the Rising Sun, I realized that I'd totally rubbed off certain pieces of it. Little tiny pieces but still, it looked imperfect.
Once I got back , I contacted Studio 21 and they let me know that my touch up would be free (which is the way it should be.) I called same day and they booked me with Captain Dave :)
I'm sad to say that I heard Captain Dave is no longer employed there! :(
Loved this place! Was in Vegas on a trip with my family, my dad and I wanted to get tattoos together. The staff is super friendly and the place smells a little like a clinic (which means clean, good smell for a tattoo shop). The sent up of the whole shop is really cool too.
We didn't have an appointment and they were able to fit is in within the hour. Holly was our artist and she rocked! I was getting one on my ribs and boy did it hurt! But she was soo gentle and patient. Thanks Holly!
We love our tattoos and our whole experience here was professional, fun and chill. They really made us feel comfortable.
The artist I looked at online and decided to do my tattoo burned his hands right before my visit so I went with Mike another artist instead. I had waited 20 years to get my scorpion tattoo since I only have one other tattoo I wanted to make sure it was what I wanted. He drew up a sketch and I didn't like it so I asked him to make some changes, he did but still the claws were bigger than what I wanted to I showed him a picture from the internet as an example of what type of scorpion I wanted. He then redrew the sketch and came up with something I liked. Once we go to the chair I noticed I didn't like the placement of the legs on one side. I explained to him that I wanted both sides to look the same but he said he drew it just like the picture. I told him it was just an example that I wanted a scorpion similar but he said once we shaded it the legs would look different. He was nice but he didn't listen to what I was saying. I should have just lost my $50 deposit and left until I found someone who would draw the scorpion the way I wanted. But I felt like I liked the design a lot I just wanted him to change the legs and trusted that maybe it would look different once he was done. Now I hate the tattoo. The legs on one side look really weird and there is one leg that looks like it comes out of the scorpions butt. I pointed this out before he started tattoing and he said he'd move the legs up and make them look better but they don't. He said it was a perspective issue because I was looking down at it. I paid $200 plus $20 tip and now have to have laser tattoo removal and try to find someone to redo the legs on one side. Other than that I am happy with the tattoo. I just wish I was more forceful or didn't get it done now. Who knows how much it will cost to have the legs removed.
Review Source:Great shop!! Â Family owned and operated, very clean and friendly!! Â Open to your ideas not just there's!!! Â Swarm is a great artist that listened to me and made my tattoo real and exactly what I wanted and ultimately what I Â was looking for! Â He personally was very patient and tolerant and has an amazing portfolio!! Â No pressure sales and lots of portfolios to look in for ideas and reference!!
Review Source:After reading an article in the paper about Studio 21 I checked out their website. All the artists had impressive portfolios so I checked Yelp, and sure enough, nothing but good things were posted. I went down and said I wanted an artist to draw something for me so Jason came out. I told him what I was looking to get but had trouble with the actual vision of it. Jason said he'd draw something up and we set an appointment. When I got there for my appointment  he showed me his design and it was exactly what I was looking for! He was very nice and  made me feel comfortable. The shop was very clean (even the bathroom) and everyone was very friendly.  I am extremely happy with my tattoo and when I'm ready for my next one, I won't go anywhere else. If your looking to get a tattoo, whether your 1st or 101st, this is the place to go!
Review Source:Being that I was getting my first tattoo I wanted to make sure I found a shop that was able to bring my vision into fruition. Â I went to several shops and none seemed nearly as jazzed Phil at Studio 21 to do what I had wanted.
Dude was an Ace and was patient enough with me to get the drawing just right before we committed to the actual ink. Â I'm seriously happy with the results and thanks Phil and Studio 21.
The owner has informed me Captain Dave no longer works at this establishment. He has e-mailed me twice to apologize and offer any touch up or fixing that I need next time I'm in town.
The five stars is for the owner's care and appreciation of the shop's client (me). I can see now why they're rated so highly. I will visit him next time I'm in town. Thanks.
Phil is an excellent listener, and was happy to modify my design until I was 100% pleased with it. He is very knowledgeable about tattoos, and happy to share his wisdom with me.
During the tattooing, he was calming and easy going. Â I felt very comfortable and respected during the entire process.
Business owners take note, this is how you do it!
As I wrote in my earlier review, the work at this custom shop is among the best in the valley. Â My earlier review of 3 stars was simply based on one artist's prices at the shop, and not the shop as a whole or the work they create. Â I received a message from Charlie, the owner today which made me feel really great about Studio 21, and confident in giving them the 5 stars they deserve.
Charlie took the time to apologize for what turned out to be one artist's pricing and policies, not those of the shop. Â The artist I first spoke with quoted me at a price that was not authorized by the shop. Â I imagine if I went through with getting my sleeve done there, Charlie would have caught the mistake, and given me the fair rate other artists at Studio 21 would offer. Â
Whether you're thinking about getting your first tattoo, or looking to add to your  already inked canvas, check out Studio 21 for incredible work, a clean and welcoming shop, and unrivaled customer service.
Mike Biggs did my tattoo, which is a half sleeve piece. It is probably going to be about 10 hours of work to complete it. Studio 21 is very professional and comfortable atmosphere for a tattoo. There was an elderly couple there getting their first tattoo when I was there, which was kind of cute. Â Go through the artist porfolios and pick someone who you think will best represent what you want done.
Review Source:Excellent experience overall.
The atmostphere is pleasant. The artists were are all very friendly and accomodating and I have to say it was a much more pleasant experience than I was expecting.
I did my research and was so happy with my results. I'm already planning my next trip there, once I figure out what I want.
They are a little on the expensive side, but I figure you get what you pay for.
Went here yesterday for a touch-up on my wrist tattoo that Jason did back in May. And did he ever touch it up! In fact, he pretty much redid the ENTIRE tattoo, and took my ideas very seriously and discussed with me what I wanted for round 2. It took us a bit just to get the exact right shade of yellow I wanted for the cupcake spider's frosting. Just like the first time, everything was very clean and he was very personable and we had a nice chat during the entire session.
Jason does great work and also takes great pride in his job and welcomes constructive criticism. He wants to make his customers happy but also wants them to leave with a beautiful piece they can treasure for the rest of their lives. He is an artist first and foremost and if that is what you're looking for (it should be what you're looking for since this is on you for life!) then come see him for sure. I don't think I've ever met another tattoo artist who seems genuinely dedicated and thankful that he gets to do what he loves every day.
The only criticism I have for the shop is with a comment the receptionist made to me. Jason was running about a half hour behind, and she told my boyfriend and I that we could either chill in the shop or "go and get a drink and come back." Even though this was a touch-up appointment, you should never tell your tattoo customers to go get a drink beforehand! Alcohol thins the blood and if it is your first time coming to the shop you're more likely to make a bad decision - that's why most artists, if they see that their clients are under the influence of anything will refuse to tattoo. She probably didn't mean anything by it but next time specifically say "non-alcoholic"! ;)
Overall this shop is amazing and I'm sure when I want more work done I will come back. And definitely hit up Jason for your work, he really is fantastic with his work and his customers.
Studio 21 should be your first, last and only choice for tattoos. They've done 4 of my 5, and I wish it was 5 of 5. The place is clean and professional, with the right amount of eclectic, artistic coziness.
The family that owns it is charming and dedicated to finding the best artists. My artist is Austin who is professional, friendly, wicked talented and accommodating, since I can be fidgety and am always cold. He does lovely faces (two of my pieces have faces), along with subtle light/shadows and obsessive detailing, which is why I will never leave him.
They also organize art shows and food truck battles for charitable causes. Ink + burgers + rum = HIGH FIVE.
I read the reviews on yelp and looked at their website then quickly decided this is where I would get my tattoo. I made the appointment a while back for my visit to LV. I brought in my own design and the artist made it slightly different in a good way - was super quick, but still did a great job. Really fun interior and very friendly place. I would def. go back.
Review Source:I was nervous about getting my 2nd tattoo because I wanted to go some place good and some place clean. I got a few word of mouth recommendations, but ultimately did my own research online. That is how I found Studio 21.
I walked in on a Saturday afternoon expecting I would need to make an appt and come back. They ended up being able to take me right then. I had an idea in mind, and tha artist, "J" made it come to life. His work was top notch and I would highly recommend seeing him for your ink!
The receptionist was pleasant, the place was clean and definately a step up from the places I had to choose from 15 years ago for my 1st one. The decor was cool....but most importantly "J', my artist, was warm and friendly. He made me feel relaxed and his work was stellar!
Highly recommend checking this place out for your tattoo and piercing needs!
My friends and I were in Vegas for vacation from Chicago, and two of us wanted to get tattoos. My friend did her online research and chose Studio 21, so we booked appointments with Courtney. She gave us all the information we needed and was very pleasant.
We arrived about 20 minutes early, filled out our paperwork, talked to Jasen, our artist, and got our tattoos done. We were in and out quickly. No waiting. There were other customers there, too. Jasen was great. He's friendly and funny. He also let our two friends join us in his space. Originally he told me it would be $150 for my tattoo, but then knocked it down to $100 because it only took a few minutes to complete. That's always a nice surprise.
We were definitely happy with our experience. Last time I got a Vegas tattoo, I went to Diversity as a walk-in. My friend and I were not happy with their tattoos. Studio 21 is clean, well-decorated, and professional. I highly recommend them, even though you have to take a cab there because it's a ways off The Strip.
I have been planning to have another tattoo done months and months away so when I knew we were coming to vegas for a quick break, I did my research and decided to have it done at this studio.First impression of this place that it was hip and really clean. The decors and bright paint created an ambiance appropriate for the kind of service they provide.
My tattoo was $ 180 excluding tip.
Everyone knows what they are doing and are very experienced in their chosen artistic field.
I am very happy with the outcome of my ink .Would recommend to people who are interested in having their first tattoo done or would like to add more tattoos.
Keep up the good job! WOuld recommend this to all my friends!!!!
Got my first and only tattoo here.. Decided to get stars on the back of my neck. We didn't have an appointment on a Saturday. We walk-in and two people were available to take us.
Set-up: Very clean and nice tattoo studio
Artist: Charlie - the owner -- He was very nice, detailed and did very nice stars.
I love how this studio is family run. I would've gave 5stars.. if it was a bit cheaper. I paid 340 and that's not even including tip. My friends told me that I could've got it somewhere else cheaper..
But owells.. it is a done deal and I'm satisfied! Great job to this place. If you're in town.. definitely go here!
I chose this studio for my first tattoo on a recent trip to Vegas. Â Dave did an awesome tattoo of my wife's name on my ring finger because I don't like to wear a ring. Â This place is great and so are the people. Â Probably one of the cleanest places I was in during my trip. Â Everything is top notch. Â Only one word of advice, there is a minimum charge, so make sure you get a bigger tat, or do a couple small ones! Â Anyway, Studio 21 is great, Â just a little over my budget.
Review Source:Studio 21 Tattoo Gallery is exactly what you should be looking for when you want to get ink work done. Â Clean, professional, honest ARTISTS work here. Â They take the time to go over your design ideas and give their own honest opinions as to how they think the design would best suit you as far as colouring, size, etc. so that you get the best tattoo for best longevity. Â
I found Studio 21 online and read a couple Yelp reviews--thanks, guys!--and contacted them via email to see if my friend and I could get appointments in that same day. Â I was contacted back within 30 minutes of the shop's opening and was able to make an appointment for both my friend and myself. Â Walk-ins are also welcome, but I would suggest making an appointment. Â There is an $80 minimum on all tattoos, which is standard at most shops. Â My piece is about 4"x3" and was very reasonably priced.
I was tattooed by Captain Dave, who had a no-nonsense approach to his work. Â As he began working on my piece, he got more friendly and put me at ease. Â I could not be more pleased with my piece, which is very detailed--a black and grey shade elephant on my shoulder. Â Dave surprised me by being expedient while maintaining highly intricate design details like the wrinkles and hairs--even on the elephant's trunk and tail.
Very, very impressed with the cleanliness, professionalism and quality of the ink work at Studio 21 Tattoo. Â If you're from Vegas or just visiting, I highly recommend this place for your tattoo needs!
My wife and I stopped in for four tattoos after calling around noon. I found the place on Yelp - so thanks everyone!
This place is top notch. We've been tattooed all over the east coast, and this was absolutely a fantastic place.
Cannot recommend enough. We had two pieces done each, by two separate artists and they're both 10/10 for quality.
Don't hesitate. Clean, professional, fun, off the strip, good prices, and they will work with you until you're happy with your art.
Being that this was my first tattoo, it was important to me to find a place that was clean, reputable and affordable. So I turned to YELP, and this place came up, so I also checked out their website. This place was all that it said it was and more. The staff all seemed to be really helpful and friendly. I LOVE that is a family owned, and they actually work in the shop. I'm pretty sure it was the mom who helped me one night, the daughter was there the next night, then the mom again, and her husband I saw walking around...impressive.
I went in on a Tuesday night to just get a quote, and then was given the option to make an appointment or just walk in the next day. The price was VERY affordable. I have been quoted more for I wanted. And I was really impressed with the way the shop looked, exactly as their pictures posted on their website...CLEAN!!!
I returned Wednesday, and had my consult with Ray. He was able to draw up the stencil of what I wanted and give me my tattoo in all of about an hour. Again, this being my FIRST tattoo, I was already anxious and terrified not know what to expect (pain wise). Luckily, I had my husband there to hold my hand (or more like me squeeze his). Ray was alittle quiet but very good at letting me know that I was doing good. I would rather him concentrate on giving me a good tattoo then striking up a conversation. In the end, I was very satisfied with the end result. I initially went in for a small tattoo but on the advise of Ray, who I trusted to make the right decision to give me what I wanted, suggested to go alittle bigger so that over time my tat wouldn't be affected by distortion or in other words aging. And I'm happy to say that for the price I paid, it was definitely worth it.
I have raved to my family and friends about this place. And I have suggested that if they go to Vegas to go there. I think I may have some takers for you Studio 21!!! : ) Thanks Ray for a job well done! And to the owners, for taking pride in what you do. Your shop and staff truly shows how much you love what you all do.
I cant begin to tell you how happy I am to have found a place that lived up to all its hype. Thanks YELP! : )
Should I dare think about getting another tattoo, I will definitely return to Studio 21.
I got my tattoo here about 1.5 years ago. Â Jason did my tat, and he was amazing. Â I had called and discussed with the receptionist what I wanted for my tatt, and when I showed up, Jason showed me what he designed. Â The tatt came out better than I expected and also was much more elaborate and detailed than I expected. Â I was very happy with the service and the tatt. Â If I get another tatt, I'll fly to Vegas and have Jason work on me again.
Review Source:**I loved the shop - just had a not so great session with my artist**
So after reading all the reviews I was sold on this place to get my "Vegas tattoo" - I went in and they had space available that night... I went through a few ideas and decided on a cute heart with a music note inside - The artist was nice and professional - the studio was beautiful and clean... I was just a tad bit disappointed with the finished look of the tattoo after healing. I didn't feel that the heart was filled in enough and my only option to get a touch up would be to go back to Vegas (yes I know.. part of the decision to get a tattoo out of my local area). I just felt that it could have been better. The outlining was beautiful; It just bothered me that I expressed my concern about having my skin show through and he said it wouldn't... but it did. Live and Learn....
Before we left Vegas, my step mom and I were set on getting tattoos. So, I searched on yelp for a good place for a tattoo on yelp, and Studio 21 came up.
This place did not disappoint. I called in on the last day I had in Vegas to see if the shop could schedule both my step mom and me in that same day, and luckily they had an artist(Phil) Â free all day. Â
As I sat down to get my first tattoo, I asked Phil to help me deal with the pain, and he calmly talked me through it, and within 25 min, I was done.
This shop is clean, tedious, and friendly.
I got my first tat at this place and plan to go back the next time I'm in Vegas. The shop is extremely clean compared to all of the shops I visited (even the big celebrity ones in the casinos and on the strip), and they offer "privacy"! Most of the trendy places on the strip have you out there on display to tourists while getting your ink, so it's nice to be able to go in a clean backroom and get tatted in peace!
Jason did my tat at Studio 21, and he was both a cool person and talented artist. I came in gave him my idea and he went right to work. Drew up a great looking scorpion from scratch and didn't flinch when I asked for a few large changes to the design. In the end I was very pleased with the end result, and get many compliments on the end result (even got them while it was scabbing during the healing process).
The price was reasonable and still cheaper than most places on the strip. In the end you get what you pay for and I had no problem paying a fair price for quality work (especially work that will be there for a lifetime).
If your in Vegas and need some ink, check this place out and ask for Jason!

I am getting a very small dragon covered up with a much larger three-dimensional dragon over my shoulder. Â I had a consultation and then came in for the first part yesterday. Â The shop is impeccable and has a great vibe. Â Everyone was friendly, welcoming and professional. Â
Ray is my artist and he is just terrific; very professional and creative, and he made me feel very comfortable throughout the process. Â He spent a lot of time with me making sure the right design was in the right place. Â The extra time is totally worth it. Â I go back in three weeks for the color.
I would recommend this place, and Ray in particular, to anyone who is considering getting some work done in Vegas.
I took my buddy here to get his first and my third tattoo. The place is way cool and the staff know whats going on. They do not do underage just be forewarned. Also this is more of a local place but tourist are more then welcome and treated very well if your will to make the 5 minute drive from the strip. Very clean and they sell drinks and stuff. Â Would definitely return if I needed more work done.
Review Source:My experience with Studio 21 was phenomenal from the first phone call I made to schedule my appointment to leaving the studio with my new (and first) tattoo!
Phil Luck was my artist, and I must say that I am the one who is lucky to have gotten him! He took my vague idea and crafted it into a reality that is better than anything I could have imagined! He was patient, outgoing and serious about his craft. He took time to answer my questions, took my suggestions in stride, and made me feel super comfortable!
The rest of the staff was awesome as well! Owners Charlie and Becki stopped by and asked about my tattoo! I felt like part of the family!
I will be returning to Studio 21 for my next tattoo!
I've never gotten a tattoo--and likely never will--but I got to visit this place last year to interview the family that owns it and, I must say, they were all cool and super talented. They are so passionate about what they do and dedicated to making sure customers get exactly what they want that I left there full of respect for the business. Plus, they are very focused on cleanliness and hygiene. So if you're thinking of getting a tattoo to permanently commemorate your Vegas trip, get it done here.
Review Source:Was searching for a yelper-approved Vegas tattoo shop for my 4th tattoo while on a mini vacation last week. Â Studio 21 stood out and it didn't disappoint. Â My girlfriend and I both visited, seeing tattooists "J." and "Jessi" (respectively). Â As we waited for them to draw up our tattoo ideas, we remarked on how artistically beautiful and comfortable the shop was, right down to it's decoration, color scheme and unique layout. Â The staff was friendly and warm, and it was a pleasure chatting with our tattoo artists. Â Jessi was even patient enough to make suggestions to the design of my tattoo when I indicated I had a budget to try to stay within, and she seemed to recognize I wasn't just trying to jam her for a discount. (BAD IDEA when seeking permanent body art!!) Â Thanks, Studio 21 family for a nice experience and a fantastic tattoo!! Â The girlfriend loves hers, too.
Review Source:By Far...The most organized, well designed and professional tattoo studio in the country! Â The Spencer family has made it their life's passion to create a clean, well run comfortable environment to get a world-class tattoo done by the cities most elite tattoo artists.
They have exceeded community expectations and continue to better themselves every day with dedicated hard work and research to stay avant garde and delivering a memorable experience to you- the customer. Â Your Studio 21 experience goes way beyond the ink-work that is immortalized on your body- It is the positivity and friendship that penetrates your soul while in the company of such an attention to detail workshop such as this.
I have 6 works of art skillfully placed by the studio 21 team. Â From these great experiences, I seek not just a tattoo anymore- but a journey with the Family as they continue to tattoo themselves and their guests into greatness.
I highly recommend this way above the average tattoo studio to all. Â This is a family dedicated to not only today... but to a better tomorrow. Â So, rest assured. Â Your tattoo experience is only getting better- whether your first... or your 21st
If I could give them ZERO, I would. This place is HORRIBLE.
I made an appointment over a week in advance since I was travelling to Vegas and wanted a cover up. I gave the $50 deposit (They require it so YOU show up, although once you do they screw up the appointment anyway so there is no record of you, even though I had an email and 2 phone calls confirming everything.)
The day of the appt, I cab it ($20) to the ghetto to get my tat. I walk in to see a complete dumbass behind the counter staring blankly at me that Im "not in the book," and they cant help me because they were booked up, and Jason, the tat artist I had an "appt" with had his 6pm appt in there already- a local guy who showed up an hour early. The bitchy blonde owner's daughter behind the counter got ALL flustered, said "this has never happened before, we keep our books good!" While I mentioned to her that maybe she could ask the 6pm guy to come back later since he lived there,. and I had to leave town the next day so I couldn't come back. She asked him and the tool said, "uh no, I have school and stuff, so I will just go somewhere else then." and proceeded to tell me that I didnt have an appointment, and the dizzy blonde kept saying "I dont know what to do, I dont know what to do" and scurried into the backroom. (To call daddy, I later found out.)
While I waited for her to come out and apologize and refund me, the front desk idiot that "boooked" my appointment on the phone was busy screwing up someone else's appointment. She was also in town for the weekend, and he was booking her for the FOLLOWING weekend when she was back home! At this point, its pretty obvious that if you lack any brain capacity at all, you work the front desk at Studio 21.
The blonde comes back out, opens the drawer, throws $50 at me (for the deposit) and shouts "here's your deposit back, I dont know what else you want from me." I was shocked at how rude and bitchy she was considering I was super nice about the mistake and wanted to make sure it didn't happen again to any other poor customer who went in there and wasted over an hour getting to the ghetto and then NOT getting their tat. I told her that I would appreciate the cab fare given to me since I was spending $40 to get there and back for an appointment that THEY screwed up. She went completely postal on me, told me "I can take the bus for all she cared," and called daddy to tell him that "Im making a scene in the lobby and that I don't want to deal with her." This was WAY over the top, since I was completely calm and nicely asked for my money- she obviously has some serious mental issues!
So, she throws the phone at me, and I say, Hi, Im not creating a scene here, I just want to make sure this doesnt happen to anyone else, and I'd appreciate you paying for my cab back to the hotel since I just wasted 40 bucks. He cut me off and said "well first of all, I want you OUT of my shop RIGHT THIS SECOND- I already dislike you because you're calling my daughter a liar". Then he told me to get the hell out or he'd come down and handle it. Whooo Im scared stupid man who obviously has ZERO customer service skills. The insecure-cant-handle-a-mishap-at-work-stressed-Âout-daughter then tells me her mommy is on the way, so I tell her I'll wait outside to chat with her.
Mommy then rolls up on her cell phone (chatting with hostile agressive dad Im sure) and stomps up to me. I said, Hi, I just had a mishap, and wanted to make sure it doenst happen again to someone else, and also would like to be reimbursed, etc." and the mom then went postal. "Well, shit happens, we keep good books, our books are really complicated, people make mistakes..blah blah.' DUH lady. I just saw another screw up happen while I was in there, and the guy needs some training, and an apology would be NICE! On top of that, your stupid daughter claims this is the first time its ever happened, which is OBVIOUSLY false since it happened to me and another gal within 3 minutes! Then she says she will NOT have me demanding taxi fare. I asked her why I should have to pay the $40 since THEY were the ones who screwed everything up. She said she ain't giving me the cab fare, ain't her problem. So, I asked her if it was worth $40 whole dollars to her to make a VERY unhappy customer, and not only lose my business, but have me tell everyone I know how much this place sucks, and she growls, "Are you threatening me???" Uh, no stupid lady. Im just letting you know that I plan on telling everyone your business is run by stupid A-Holes, and that they shouldn't come here. She stomps back into the rat hole, and at that point, I decided to get the heck out of there because I knew the scary daddy was on his way down and I didn't want to die in the ghetto.
I did watch from the cab, and the beeyatch did come out about 15 minutes later with NO money in her hand.
So, to sum it all up, this place is run by idiots, screws up appts, and then blames YOU! Go somewhere else!
Wowee this is an AWESOME tattoo shop. Â I was in Vegas for the weekend hanging out with some friends, and we decided to get tattoos so I went on yelp to search and came across Studio 21 and its great reviews. Â
The place is so neat looking, very clean and quite big with lots of different cool stations for each artist. Ray was our tattoo guy and he is AWESOME. Very very friendly, very professional and he did a perfect job on me and my friends' tats. Â Reasonablly priced too. Their minimum was $80 which is not bad. Â
I highly recommend this place if you're looking to get a tat in Vegas. GO TO RAY!! I love him.
i'm happy to say that i actually went here based on the copious positive reviews seen her on yelp! thanks yelpers!
it's been a long time since i got a tattoo, and when i did, it was a slightly seedy place somewhere on melrose. i was 18 and knew squat about tattoos.
when my sisters came to me awhile back with the proposition of getting tattoos at the same time, i jumped at it. months later, we went to studio 21.
honestly, if i hadn't heard the infectious buzz of the tattoo needle, i'd hardly have known it was even a tattoo shop. the decor was lush and tasteful, not trashy or overly vegasized. rooms were separate but still visible, providing ample privacy if needed. it was super clean, something that i think we're all looking for when we're willingly allowing a stranger to put ink into our arm. we had an appointment, but either way, all the staff, many of which were the family themselves, were super helpful, not intimidating and very knowledgeable.
ray was our guy, and he was sooooo patient. i really can't say enough about that. he waited while my sister spent half an hour mulling over tattoo placement, only to opt out on it all together. he was thorough, friendly, but not overly chatty, and professional.
if you're going to get a tattoo in vegas, spend the bucks to just go here. it's worth it. please.
AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This was my fouth tattoo and by far my best one yet.
The space is totally rad and artistic which made me feel like the people inside must totally know what they're doing. Â
If anyone needs a place that can deliver creativity, professionalism, and a custom tat, this is the one for you.
Thank you Studio 21 for a fantastic experience.
Top-notch quality and integrity and a great atmosphere-- a model for how tattoo shops should be!
I have had dealings with this shop and am hugely impressed. Professionally, they are straightforward, no tricks, open about everything, are friendly and welcoming, and take great pride in their work. (They consistently get rated/reviewed very highly, and it's easy to see why.)
In terms of artwork, their artists are PHENOMENAL. Check out their portfolios (online) and it's easy to see that this crew is at the top of their game.
What really put it over the top for me, though, was the impeccable integrity that one of their artists had with me. I had made an appointment to get a rather unusual concept designed and tatooed; it would require a significant amount of drawing on the artist's part. He and I worked at it for a few hours, but it wasn't gelling... his style of illustration and my concept weren't totally in sync. They were close, but not quite matched.
Knowing that a tattoo is forever (duh), this artist suggested that I try another artist at Studio 21 whose style was a bit more in line with my concept, and he even offered to transfer the deposit. This artist said that he would rather do that than tattoo something that neither he nor I were 100% satisfied with going into it.
It seems to be obviously the right thing to do, but many artists out there wouldn't do this. They'd do it anyway if you were "reasonably happy with it." To me, this was phenomenal integrity as a tattoo artist, so even though he turned down my offer to pay him for the time he had spent drawing, I tipped him extremely well.
Aside from that, though, this shop really is top-notch. It is the most inviting tattoo shop I've ever been in; and if I could only pick one shop to ever get any more tattoos at, I'd choose Studio 21 in a heartbeat.
And the gallery stuff on the wall is AWESOME!
