Bryn is amazing! I don't think I'll ever go to a different artist.
I came in with a pretty difficult request and Bryn just hit it out of the park! He spent nearly 4 hours working on it for me and I couldn't be happier with it. The place is also super clean and he was careful to change his gloves often. Â Thank you, Bryn!
I've been getting tattooed by Bryn Taylor for five years, following him to whatever shop he's working from- so this review is more of Bryn Taylor than Sugarfoot Tattoo (not that I don't think the shop is clean and cute and all....)
Bryn is an experienced tatttooer with great technical skill and "chairside manor". He has a steady, fast, and percise hand that delivers bold and lavish color to the thoughtful and creative tattoos he draws up. I've never felt uncomfortable (relative to the feeling of getting a tattoo) - he's not overly chattly but not "too cool" or aloof either- Just a super mellow dude who makes the pain bareable. He has worked with me to develop several custom/unqiue tattoos to get me both what I want and what will work (as a tattoo).
Stop being lame and reading this review and just go get a tattoo from him already.
This place has a real neighborhood feel and you won't get that awkward newbie treatment if you're just stopping by to ask questions or find out more about that tattoo idea you have been thinking about. Very nice laid-back place with pro staff. Natasha is great, and very detailed. I've gotten two tattoos done by her, and she did a great job. Also brought in my sister to build on an older work, and my sister was very happy with the results.
Review Source:Another five-star review for Natasha Pritchett! Â Got my newest tattoo, and Natasha spent plenty of time finding out what I wanted and re-drawing the piece until I thought it was perfect. Â Professional, clean, not intimidating. Great location near the train. If I want another, I will come back here without thinking twice.
Review Source:I have had two very important pieces done at Sugarfoot Tattoo by owner/tattoo artist extraordinaire, Natasha Pritchett. Â I've spent many hours under her meticulous and deft needle. Â Though, don't get me wrong, Natasha takes her time to understand what her customer's needs are and with making sure her work is nothing short of what her client will adore for the rest of their life. She is all that anyone could ask for in a tattoo artist: artistically gifted, conceptual, CLEAN (she follows health and safety guidelines while tattooing to perfectionist standards!), has an empathetic touch--- physically and on all levels, and is incredibly forthright and honest. Â Open communication is important when you're making such a commitment as getting a tattoo.
Important things to note: Sugarfoot has an open floor-plan, which I adore. Customers come in and are able to see firsthand what work is currently happening by both Natasha and Bryn (who I have not been tattooed by (yet), but have had dear friends who have been to him for years and swear by his talent-- I can speak for his artistic integrity and STELLAR personality and know that Natasha and he are really the dream team that soon will be on the tip of people's tongues).
I recommend Sugarfoot Tattoo (and Natasha and Bryn) to anyone looking to adorn their bodies with ink.
**Also something of note, they are SO CLOSE to the train station (3rd Avenue in San Mateo), so who needs to worry about feeding the meter or finding a spot to park when you can enjoy riding the rails of convenience (clipper cards rule). If you must find a spot to park your car, I recommend the Caltrain lot, since there's underground parking that's usually ample. Cheers to Sugarfoot Tattoo!
I first came to know Natasha over a year ago when she was working at Sacred Rose Tattoo on University in Berkeley. My wife and I wanted to get tattoos, but since they were each totally different, I at least wanted us to get them by the same person. Fortunately, we found Natasha and both really like her.
When it comes to a tattoo artist, I feel that there are three things that I'm looking for. The first is artistic ability. They should be able to make a beautiful image, and in my case, I was particularly looking for someone who could blend from one color into another and have it look really smooth. When I looked through Natasha's photo book of her past work, I was incredibly impressed by her style and talent. While she's capable of doing the "standard" and "typical" tattoo style, most of her work is much more advanced than that. Taste in art is subjective so you'll have to look at her work to decide for yourself if you like it. [Note: there are two black binders on the counter and one is hers and the other belongs to another tattoo artist who works at Sugarfoot, so be sure you're looking at the right one. Hopefully, these binders can get labeled on the front cover so it's easier to identify whose is whose.]
Second, they should be skilled at tattooing. Some people use too much pressure, causing more of an inflammation reaction and making your skin more likely to bleed, scab, or reject ink. Natasha's technique is excellent, and I can assure you that the three times I left her studio, my tattoo barely bled, my skin didn't scab at all, and within 2 days the healing process was so advanced I was proudly showing off my new tattoo to friends.
Finally, and this is totally subjective and personal, you should like/get along with your tattoo artist. Natasha has a great personality, she's easy to get along with, and I always enjoyed getting to spend a couple hours at a time with her while she was working on me/my wife.
Oh, and she has organic lollipops that you can suck on while getting your tattoo. The sugar really helps deal with the pain. Great idea, Natasha!
I have had two tattoos done by bryn now. Such a talented young man and makes the process enjoyable. Â I plan on having him tattoo whatever more pieces i decide to get now that i found where he ran off to. :) he really seems to take pride in every tattoo whether it is something he would necessarily choose to do. I have not been personally tattooed by natasha, but she is such a sweet young woman and after seeing her work and watching her tattoo she just screams professional. Having a comfortable enviroment and these two running it just means sugarfoot is going to give all the other places in the area a run for their money.
Review Source:Bryn is the best by far. I have four tattoos that he has done and ever since I found him I have not went to another person. His work is consistent and on point to where I have brought in a picture and he matched it. He is a very reasonable and sincere person I trust he will give you the best their is to offer.
Review Source:I completely trust Bryn Taylor with all of my tattoo needs. Started working with Bryn a few years ago when I saw some photos of his work. He is somehow able to magically balance his artistic imagination with a customer's vision. I've referred friends to Bryn who have also left more than happy with his work. I followed him here when he recently moved and I have to admit I absolutely adore the new space, it's clean, colorfully decorated and has a relaxing atmosphere. Most recently Bryn did some rad finger tattoos for me. In my opinion, Bryn does his best work if a customer gives him an idea and trusts him to run with it. He has a ton of experience and won't steer you in the wrong direction. If you're on the market for a tattoo, go say hello to Bryn, he's great for a first timer or someone who is getting a large piece done.
Review Source:Bryn Taylor has done the last 6 of my tattoos, and I followed him over to Sugarfoot when he made the switch. I wouldn't go to anyone else! I'm the customer who comes in saying, "Um, I kinda want something like this, but I'm not sure what color, and maybe here, but maybe not - what do you think?" Bryn's always able to pick through the madness and figure out exactly how to interpret what I want. The one piece that impressed me the most was a cover-up job he did for me - I had an old tattoo of a black cat on my ankle, and he was able to cover it with a vibrant green turtle. I have to show people before, during and after pictures because no one believes that there used to be a black cat under there! Bryn is an amazing and talented artist and well worth his reasonable rates.
Review Source:Bryn is the awesomest! He did my tattoo EXACTLY the way I drew it and filled it with such beautiful detail and color! If you're thinking about going to Bryn, don't think, just DO! He's great! Â Looking forward to adding another piece to my tattoo and know that he will do the greatest job! Thanks Bryn! :)
Review Source:When I was on the West Coast on biz, I made a special trip to San Mateo to get a tattoo from Bryn Taylor. Actually, I got two while I was there (it was a long trip)... Awesome, awesome work...black & grey flowers on my back and script on my wrist. I get constant compliments on his work. Just perfect. And also, its just nice to be with an artist who is so nice, professional yet laid back, and welcoming. Mos def. will go back!
Review Source:I went to Bryn for my first ever tattoo at the beginning of May. I looked at what felt like a million different artists because if this was going to be on my body for the rest of my life, I wanted it to look good (obviously). I kept coming back to Bryn's work so I sent him an email and set up a time to drop by the shop for a consultation. I was nervous all around but Bryn is really chill and easy going. My first tattoo came out really nice. Even though it was very simple, I loved it. So I went back yesterday for my second one. I had an idea of what I wanted and explained it to Bryn a few weeks before my appointment. When I went in yesterday the sketch he came up with was awesome, nicer than I expected. I wanted a quote done and asked Bryn to kind of "frame" it but even I wasn't sure what that meant LOL Bryn obviously did and again I love it. Bryn is very talented and I wouldn't think of going anywhere else to get tattooed. You can see more of his work on his personal website: http://www.taylormadetat…
Review Source:I had been wanting a chest piece for a very long time of an Eagle fighting a snake.
I was checking out the wall of flash art work at Sugar foot Tattoo and saw the exact piece that I wanted, the shops owner that is also an artist at the shop assured me that she could do the piece that I wanted"cooked to order" so to speak, after we made a few adjustments to fit my chest specificially as well as a few other changes per my request we made an appointment.
She agreed to do the entire outline in one session by my request and stuck to her agreement (some shops will try to get you to come in over and over as it suites them where ever they can fit you in) after a very long session the entire outline was done to perfection, with very little after pain, no scabbing and very little flaking.
A month later when I was healed the shading was completed, I am very happy thus far with the work that has been done here and I'm quite anxious to get some work in the future by her other artist Bryn, I have checked out his portfolio and have witnessed him in action and needless to say I am pretty impressed with his work too and can't wait to get a tattoo by him as well.
The shop stuart Casey is very helpful and polite as well.
The art work on the wall is very nicely framed and the shop is very clean.
I have showed my chest piece to tattoo artists from Los Angeles to New Jersey and everyone has commented on how clean the line work is on it, some fellow artist claiming it's the "cleanest they have ever seen".
I highly reccomend this shop.
If you are in the market for a tattoo and you are anywhere in the bay area or any other area for that matter, do yourself a service and patronize Sugarfoot tattoo.
I went to see Bryn for a tattoo with no black outlining. That could be quite tricky since black gives depth and definition to the tattoo.
Bryn is a top tattoo artist, he gave the definition and depth, by applying 3D coloring to my tattoo and gradually blending colors from dark to light.
Outcome: I LOVE my tattoo, exactly what I wanted, everyone loves it. Elegant, colorful, perfectly proportioante.
If you go back into my YELP reviews, you will see tons of rave ones for the amazing artist that is Bryn Taylor. This guy is so talented that wherever he goes shop-wise I follow him . Bryn is not just some skatebro who loves creating wicked tats(ALTHOUGH HE DOES CREATE WICKED TATS,BRO)but he is a real deal painter /artist , and I think that totally translates to his tattoo work . He is brilliant with color work and shading , all my pieces stand out even after years of having them on my body . Bryn is totally approachable with all and any ideas you approach him with, and then carries them out with epic radness even when you may or may not be asking to get the winged scarab found on Journey's "Greatest Hits" cover. Point is he's a consummate professional , who is really nice and awesome to talk to , who will bring your tattoo to life. I don't know what else I can do to make you get an appointment with this guy , but when you do and you are loving it make sure to hit me up on here and say," you never did lie !".BRYN TAYLOR FOR PRESIDENT!
Review Source:Went to see Tattoo Master Bryn Taylor at Sugarfoot today. Cant tell you how ecstatic I am with my new Ink. Bryn is not only an amazingly talented artist but a great guy who really knows how to make you feel comfortable. Â Sugarfoot is the only choice to make when getting a new Tattoo!!!
Review Source:Natasha is the best!!! She did my first tattoo ever and was super sweet and nice and took her time and checked in with me a lot. I really appreciated that because tattoos and peircings are the sort of thing that people can be real elitist about, but Natasha clearly just loves her art and giving people great work. I can't recommend her highly enough.
Review Source:I finished a triathlon in September and wanted to get a tattoo to help me celebrate finishing my first one. Â I went to see Natasha. Â She was great! Â My design was simple but she moved it around until I made the decision about exactly where I wanted it. Â She's kind, patient and funny.
