I was nervous about getting my first tattoo because, as everyone knows, they are PERMANENT. (ah scary.) BUT I would recommend Tattoo Alchemy to anyone and everyone with zero reservation.
About a week before, I researched Tattoo Alchemy and another place in West Hollywood. They both seemed legit so I decided on Tattoo Alchemy mostly because it was closer. The location is extremely clean and very beautiful with art and some nice plants in the open waiting area. I sat down with Steve Rowes and told him what I wanted. When I went back to get inked I felt nervous and the other artists joked around with me to ease the mood.
It did not hurt too much, did not take too long, and above all, is an incredibly beautiful tattoo. I am very proud of it and get more compliments on it than I can keep track of, by people who are not even into tattoos. It is black ink, and has very fine and perfect lines. My aunt actually asked me if it was a decal because she didn't realize the lines could be so smooth and perfect. The shading is perfect. I LOVE my tattoo and in a couple months will probably go back for another.
Steve Rowes is a great artists, super chill, and very open. I wanted a tattoo that was graceful, nature inspired, and in the style of realism. He exceeded expectations. I am SO happy with my tattoo, I will definitely go to Steve for my next.
I just got my first tattoo done by Richie yesterday, and I couldn't be happier! From the first e-mail he sent me, I could tell I was in good hands. Â I did a lot of research on vegan tattoo ink, and finally settled on Tattoo Alchemy after three years of debating. Â The moment you walk into the shop, someone asks if you want anything to drink, offers a seat, and makes you feel welcomed. Â The shop is clean and beautiful. Â Richie was delightful to work with. I was pretty nervous, especially because it is on one of the more painful areas for tattoos. Before starting, he took plenty of time to make sure the design he'd created a few days earlier was placed just right and was exactly what I wanted. During the tattoo, he was patient and calming, and kept up conversation the whole way, easing a lot of nerves. He gave me some time to breath and part way through put some cold compresses on. Â His aftercare explanations were thorough and I felt extremely taken care of. The design is crisp, detailed, and unique, even better than imagined. I really can't say enough wonderful things about Richie and everyone else there--highly recommended!
Review Source:I got a full sleeve done by Steve Rowes over at Tattoo Alchemy. He was an awesome, super chill dude who absolutely kills in black and grey work. The shop is extremely clean, and this is the only tattoo shop that has offered me water when I walk in the door. Steve is a great artist and worked with me to get exactly what I wanted. I'm so hyped on my new sleeve, and any other work I get done will be through Tattoo Alchemy.
Review Source:Got a koi fish done by Jason during the 2nd week of March.  Good clean lines that are  solid.  He got them done pretty fast.  He managed to finish the whole outline in 1 hour and 16 minutes (koi with waves and a lotus flower covers my whole inner left arm) and add shading during the remainder of the session. Â
Unfortunately, my next session to add in the coloring won't be until July. Â But I'm willing to wait.
If you're in Southern California & are looking for a quality tattoo by talented professionals, stop searching & get yourself to Tattoo Alchemy in Montclair, CA. (If you're not in SoCal, but still want great ink by good people, get here, then go there.)
I spent a *lot* of time researching shops & artists, looking for the perfect combination of artistic talent & customer service mindset. & I can honestly say that no one came close to Tattoo Alchemy. Thus, I had high expectations when I finally made an appointment & headed to the shop. To say that experience exceeded those expectations would be an understatement.
The shop itself is eminently inviting - excellent layout/design, some great art on the walls, friendly vibe from the moment you open the door. I brought an odd, self-created design & a lot of questions with me. Peachy answered everything, turned my concept into a fantastic design, & did an absolutely amazing job transferring that design from paper to skin.
I left the shop with a tattoo that I couldn't be happier with, an appreciation for the talent & professionalism of the Tattoo Alchemy crew, & absolutely no doubt in my mind that I'll be back.
I'll start by saying that I was a fan of JCD's work before I ever stepped foot into Tattoo Alchemy. When I finally decided to pull the trigger and schedule an appointment Jason was very helpful...squeezing me in to fit my needs. Being an out of towner I would want to sit longer than most to offset the costs of flying in.
When I arrived Jason and the rest of the crew - Peachy, David, Richie, and Dave S made me feel right at home. The place looks great...it's clean and has a positive vibe going...lot's of art on the wall.
I was given as many breaks as i needed, and was given great instructions for keeping the work clean and healthy.
When I had follow-up questions on after care...I had a reply immediately
If i lived closer I'd be in once a month
These guys rock
Tattoo Alchemy is a Class Joint. Period. Top to bottom, they are well-thought out, undeniably neat and appealing, surgically clean and inspiration is all around you. If one didn't know the nature of the business and walked in, one might think this a was a high-end art gallery or classy spa. The signage is understated and elegant, but conveys a bit of mystery with the scarab beetle on many surfaces. But what of their product? People come here to get body art professionally applied...
Well, it's the best. I just got my second tattoo from Jason Dunn, a nicely designed and executed koi fish (cleverly cut into a sushi-roll). All I did was tell Jason my idea and when I came in 6 weeks later with my supporting references, he had already prepared a design that was better than my inspiration. I'm glad for that, because although I liked the original idea, I didn't want a clone or a copy. An artist needs to be given freedom to express his/her craft. As a LMT, I sometimes get asked to "use more pressure" or "you gan go faster etc.". I try not to get bugged because I have a good reputation and I have a plan, it involves intuition and following my own well-thought out catalogue of theories and methods;and plugging them in as indicated by palpation and experience. Jason is the same way, as was Peachy on previous occasion. I now have two inner arm tattoos from great artists in the same studio, different themes and styles, but both beautiful and well-apreciated. (In fact I get to enjoy them as I deep-tissue clients with my elbows!)
Be prepared to spend some $, folks for good work. A jail-house tat' for free cannot compare to a well-executed piece of art on your arm from a caring craftsman. Both will follow you to your final days, why not make them the best? I will more than likely have the staff fill out my existing art into 2 half-sleeves, and we'll call it a day...Namaste!
(P.S. For the ink "veteranos" out there: my heal time this time around was surprisingly short, even though Jason bombed my arm w/ a lot of black,(3.5 hours of needle time) I was almost done scabbing at 7 days, w/ no pits or bad spots.I'm not a mountain man, but I was able to sit for the entire session fairly relaxed. Again, you're paying for experience and cleanliness...)
Tattoo Alchemy is definitely an amazing place. All of the tattoo artists really create a welcoming atmosphere from the moment you arrive, which is definitely different from a lot of other shops we visited in our research phase. All of the artists have awesome portfolios, so it is really just a matter of seeing who you click with and what style of tattoo you desire.
My husband got his first tattoo done by Jason in April and it is an amazing piece. Everyone who has seen it always gives him a ton of complements. It was during this visit that I decided to move forward with getting my own first tattoo done after years of going back and forth (I guess I just needed to actually see the process to pull the trigger).
I talked to both Peachy and Richie about my idea (flowers on my right foot). However, Richie and I clicked and he really helped me to settle on a style (traditional). He really gave me a lot of information about traditional style tattoos and what he thought would look good. It definitely got me psyched so we maintained correspondence and set up an appointment. The design he came up with is really clean and downright pretty so I was definitely looking forward to getting it done.
Since this was my first tattoo, I was kind of nervous. Richie really took the time to make sure that I was comfortable during the entire process. Despite it being in one of the more painful areas one can get a tat, it was not nearly as painful as I thought it would be. The aftercare instructions were simple and he makes himself available if you have any questions or concerns.
It's been three weeks and the tattoo is healing up beautifully. I will need some touch-ups here and there (completely normal as everyone heals differently), but it is nice to know that Richie and the rest of the artists at Tattoo Alchemy guarantee their work for life.
My husband and I are really looking forward to getting additional work done (hopefully not too far in the future) and when we do, it will definitely be done here :)
Peachy tattooed a heart locket and key for my wife and I on our 10th anniversary. Â We are very happy with the quality of her work. Â She was very friendly, and she made my wife feel very comfortable. Â The shop is very nice and clean. Â It feels more like a high end salon than a typical tattoo parlor. Â We would recommend Peachy and Tattoo Alchemy. Â We will be going back.
Review Source:Jason David Peachy are amazing people, artist, and truly know what they are doing. I came in to the shop just to check it out. The vibe was a familiar one, but I couldn't understand the feeling until I txted my bro at the shop. Turns out my older bro has been getting all his work done by Jason and I didn't know.
David Palacios was the artist who came up with my vision within 3 days and tatted me with funny memorable moments with my Cousin Leen. I love his work and I love their passion. Definitely come here if you want the best of experienced, safe, and knowledgable tattoo artist.
I will definitely get next piece done here..MOS DEF !!!
Went in this past Saturday and David did amazing work with the design I brought in. Â Making my kanji have a brush stroke finish brought some amazing realism to it. Â The staff is very polite. Â The shop has a very relaxed feel to it which I think would make it less intimidating for anyone that would be getting their first tattoo done. Â I will definitely be going back again very soon.
One important thing to remember when considering a tattoo is that you get what you pay for. Â The piece I got was very important to me and getting it done here was definitely worth it.
Tattoo Alchemy came highly recommended by a good friend who just had a piece done here (and  it's totally awesome).  Talked to David and he knew just what I wanted and rocked it out in no time at all.  I went for a small piece on the foot (my first tat), and it looks amazing!  The place is very chill, love the vibe, the people are awesome, made me feel right at home.  But the most noticeable thing there was the cleanliness.  LOVED that.  Way to go.  They seriously take this into high consideration.  Great day, great experience. I will be back!!  Thanks!! I Love my Ink!
Review Source:Where do I even start? Â This place is as good as it gets. Â From the moment you walk into the beautifully decorated studio (decorated with his own original artwork- which by the way will stop you dead in your tracks!! that's how amazingly beautiful the art work is!) you are greeted with warm smiles and a cheerful hello. Â Jason Dunn is by far the best of the best! not only is he professional but he is someone that you can really talk to on a personal level, HE IS NOT your typical arrogant fly-by-night, jailhouse tattoo shop guy. Â Jason and his team do a very good job at making you feel welcomed and relaxed. Â Never do you feel rushed or like you are a bother to them. Â They make every customer feel at home, offering drinks and snacks to make your experience as comforting as possible. Â Since I work in health care, I notice a lot about people and their cleanliness. Â The cleanliness and sterility of Tattoo Alchemy can honestly rival that of a top notch hospital!!! Everything in the studio is pristine! If you want an exceptional quality tattoo, an artist that will take his time to work with you to ensure you are getting EXACTLY WHAT YOU WANT, someone who is genuinely kind, CLEAN and TRUSTING, please do youself and your skin a favor and GO TO JASON DUNN'S TATTOO ALCHEMY! Â Jason has a great team alongside him. Â They too are very personable and helpful. Â I can't wait to go back to Tattoo Alchemy to see my favorite artist and sweet Miss Peachy!
Review Source:I was looking to get a cervical ribbon with my sisters name on it & looked elsewhere, they said the name wouldn't b good in the ribbon, but then a good friend recommended Peachy @ Tattoo Alchemy, she drew it out for me I fell in Love & I'm happy with it. She is awesome & really sweet. I got 2 tattoos done with her the same day & my sister got one done the same day too. The place is beautiful & everyone is really really nice. Thanx Peachy can't wait for the next one =)
Review Source:I had an amazing experience at Tattoo Alchemy and would recommend the shop to anyone. Â I wanted a custom piece of art, and I was a little nervous about what I wanted and how people at a tattoo shop would receive it. Â I went to the shop to consult with an artist, and to see if someone could create the tattoo that I had in mind. Â I was so luck to find David. David listened to all of my ideas, took pictures of items that I had brought in, and even did research to be sure that what he drew up was accurate. Â In a couple of days David sent me his sketch, and I was instantly in love with it!
Tattoo day arrived, and everyone at the shop was extremely friendly and attentive to my needs. Â Everything was immaculate, good music, the environment and service made sitting through a 5 hour tattoo bearable. Â
While I was being worked on I was amazed at how friendly and kind the other artists were. Â Jason D. even stopped what he was working on to quickly do a project for a walk in customer. Â
When my tattoo was completed I was so in love with it. Â I cannot wait to show it off and recommend Tattoo Alchemy to everyone I know. Â
They even took really nice photos of the tattoo, which they said they would share, and I cannot wait to see.
Thank you David, and the other members at the shop for a wonderful experience.
where to start.
well, i started looking for someone to do my Japanese sleeve, came across jason n i knew i wanted my sleeve done by him. so in june 2011 i scheduled an appointment and went to see him. everything went smooth, he asked for a $500 deposit witch i figured would make him more pumped to get my work done (i knew the deposit was only 150). two months later i start my sessions, i thought i would have gotten alot of work for my money but over that two months he told me he drew what we were getting into the night before. i didnt think much of it, the session lasted about 5.5 hours n we got about a half sleeve outlined, i was happy with the work, when it came to paying time jason didnt have a receipt of my deposit and tried to tell me i only put down $450, but at least i had my receipt..
so, after the first session, the next session when good, i felt like he was doing the work in his portfolio. i was happy paid him his 150 n hour n that was that, but sometime around the 3rd session i felt he was getting sloppy, would always have other artists in the shop with him always talking, seemed more like a kick back where hes getting paid 150 n hour. the 4th session made me really pissed off, i went in for another 4 hour session (every session was about 4 hours) this was session 4 (my last session) again he had another new artist in the room with him. i had about 80% of my upper left arm done, and this last session was easily suppose to be finished (prob honestly would have taken n hour) during session 4 he did absolutely nothing, he went and fucked shit up so he could go redo it for more money, i have showed other artists, n they are amazed that its the same artist doing work, he charged me 600 for a session that was worthless, every color he laid down has to be gone over and darken, n fixed, but there is more, 3 of the 4 session i got dug the fuck out, witch means he tattoos color into you over and over tell you're skin is gone, these were not small areas, if i could show you you would never let this cat tattoo you. i called jason about this, i was cool n calm was like yo bro the work you have gone this last session was definitely not ur best work. idk if you were having a bad day or not but can you fix this it just cost me 600 bucks, he just proceeded to yell, and curse on the phone about how hes been doing this for 18 years he can never mess up and if im not happy the only thing he will do is give me a free hour for the 4 that i paid nothing for..
also, my appointments have been 2 months apart every session. was it worth waiting to pay good money to have jason talk with his homie, n barley do any work? nahh. jason also says he contacts his clients, never contacted me once.
this whole tattoo experience that he says he makes so great really is a shitty one. btw this is all recent. my last appointment was suppose to be nov 24th thanksgiving....give me a break...wait two months just to get booked on thanksgiving? lol more n more of a joke this guy.
my pictures says it all...both 4 hour sessions, both $600. im sure you can tell which one was worth it. 80% color done on the upper piece 4 hours. 4 more hours couldn't even finish last 20%, n the back ground color is darker green on the back of my arm like it should be, n the top/front from session 4 is light needs to be way darker to match. clouds, hands, n feathers have no dimension, face not finished. -- with Jason Clay Dunn.
I was planning on writing up a review when my piece is done but eh.... The heck with it. I'll just write two, or three, or four.... etc.
I found Tattoo Alchemy through Yelp and thank gawd I did. I've been looking to get a piece done for quite some time now and just couldn't find a studio that "clicked" with me. Living here in SoCal, the options are endless when it comes to tattoo studios. I've been to many studios and spoke to many artists and for some reason I just didn't "feel" it with them. I even had a customer of mine that's very well known in the industry and his waiting list was redunkulous and so I chose not to go with him. And plus, being arrogant about it doesn't help. I'm an easy going type of guy but don't rub me off the wrong way cause I'll turn the other way quick. So I yelped around one afternoon and TA came up and so I read up on their reviews. The pictures that showed how clean the shop was made a huge impression on me. After viewing their site I knew this studio was going to  be the one to devirginize my skin. So after work one day I went in and had the pleasure of meeting Jason and we talked about what I wanted done and without hesitation he said "got it" game on. Deposit dropped and appt made.
So far the first session complete (4 hrs) and I love it. The experience itself was amazing. I felt like I was among friends instead of being just a client. Peachy and Richie made me feel right at home offering me refreshments and above all just made sure everything's just fine. The studio was spotless. I felt I was in an art studio... which in actuality I was. If you're a Tat newbie like I was and you're looking for a place, just swing by and talk to the staff. I guarantee they'll leave an impression on you and you'll be thinking about Tattoo Alchemy everytime it's time for a new piece.
Love this place!! This is the best tattoo shop I have ever been to as many others have also stated.
First off the shop is chill and relaxing. The design/set up of the place doesn't give off the typical tattoo shop vibe. The shop is super clean and located in a quite area. The staff is great and friendly. Â The entire staff is beyond talented. You can easily check out they're work on they're website and facebook page.
Peachy has done two tattoos on myself and we are currently working on a third piece for my arm. Peachy has done work on my boyfriend and a few of my friends. When ppl see my tattoos they always are amazed which is why they too decided to go to Tattoo Alchemy.
The prices are reasonable. They will usually try to give you a price for a piece unless you have multiple sessions which you will then go to hourly (which is normal for tattoos that require multiple sessions).
For those of you looking for a bargain just remember good tattoos aren't cheap! You get what you pay for. Tattoo Alchemy is worth every penny!!!
I canNOT believe the lack of reviews for this place! It was seriously the best tattoo experience I've had so far, the first thing upon coming home was to submit a review! Right upon walking in I LOVED the ambiance. It was the nicest, most upscale tattoo parlor I've ever seen. I was immediately offered water and they had touch screens on the counter with each artist's portfolio as well as potential designs. It felt so comfortable being in there, unlike other tattoo parlors I've walked into with skulls and scary stuff lying around. I decided to get a simple cross on my left hand and Peachy was the girl to do it. I was really really picky as to where I wanted it on my hand and she had all the patience in the world to deal with me and the 4-5 times that I had her move it around. I finally found the right spot and while she was working on me, we chatted and had a couple of laughs. Very, very friendly young woman AND she is super talented. I saw some of her flower tattoos in her portfolio and they were AMAZING-love her! The prices for tattooing are reasonable also. As they stated on their website, not too expensive and not too cheap (the website's super organized and they flat out state things such as that you need a minimum of $80 for tats. I love that they don't surprise you in the end with the price). All in all, you seriously get what you pay for here, if not more! Unless I find another place that is cheaper but just as good quality (if not better, both of which I probably won't) I'm sticking to here-and Peachy for future tats :)
Review Source:It had been awhile since my last tattoo and I had come across a great opportunity to get my next one at Tattoo Alchemy. Â Met with artist that would do my tattoo Richie Merritt, very nice and professional. Made appointment for the next week. Richie was very informative and dedicated to detail, which made me as a customer feel very at ease. He did an amazing traditional gypsy tattoo on me. Even my wife who is not a fan at all of tattoos, said it was a beautiful piece. Â The shop has a very friendly atmosphere, no attitudes like other places. Just down to earth, talented artists. I would highly recommend if you are thinking of getting a tattoo go see Richie Merritt. great tattooist, very dedicated to his art.
Review Source:This place is the Truth! This is the I.E. version of LA ink & NY ink. (without the drama) One of the best in the biz, these guys have treated me like a family member. I laughed, joked, had a great time. Not only did i get a quality tattoo full of the creativity from a rare breed, i was properly educated on how to heal my tattoo in order to preserve color and cancel any risk of infection. These guys take every precaution imagined in order to create and maintain a clean uncontaminated tattooing experience. They are VERY SERIOUS about this! Ive visited plenty of shops and hands down this is a place for serious people who are into tattoo ART not just a tattoo...
Review Source:Ok. If you are looking for a place to get a rockin' tattoo .... look no further. In fact, stop reading and run down to Tattoo Alchemy. You won't regret it.
This was my first tattoo. I have been shopping around for awhile, and I hadn't found a tattoo shop I was comfortable with until I stepped in to Tattoo Alchemy. Â This shop is unlike any tattoo parlor you've ever seen. Â It is classy, elegant, very very comfortable & relaxing atmosphere.... it is totally the perfect tattoo experience. Â The staff was so friendly and accommodating, all the clients that came in there were really nice and cool to chat with. Â They really have created a very nice and comfy environment there.
(Now, if you are looking for the "seedy tattoo parlor on the corner" type of experience, this is not the place for you ... but if you're just looking for a good experience and AWESOME tattoos .... run on down there!)
I had previously checked out all their portfolios online, and I was very impressed with all of them, so I really didn't have a preference as to who I wanted for a tattoo artist. Â As we walked in, Peachy was the one who greeted us and so that is who fate chose for me :)
I had spent a long time deciding on a design, and all I really had was printouts of the different pieces that I wanted incorporated and merged into a tattoo. I briefly explained what my thoughts were and I pretty much let her run with it. I figured that she does this for a living, she is the artist and she will have much better ideas as to how to put these elements together into a complete tattoo.
I had plenty of time, because getting this tattoo wold be my reward for losing 50 lbs, and at the time I still had a month or two to go, so I wasn't in a hurry.
When it was time to go down and see Peachy's sketch & vision, I was a little nervous. I'm thinking "what if I don't like it" and "how do I let her know if it's not what I had in mind". Â Turns out, I had no need for concern. Â Peachy's sketch was WAAAAAAAY better than anything I had ever pictured in my mind. I was pretty amazed and very impressed, and I made my tattoo appointment that day.
I wasn't nervous really when I went for my appointment. Â I was just excited about getting a tattoo, and I figured if it hurt, oh well, I didn't mind going through it to get what I wanted. Â It actually didn't hurt at all. Â I was very comfrotable and relaxed, I probably could have taken a nap while the needle was going :)
The tattoo took around 5 hours to complete. I'm soooo stoked about it, it turned out so beautiful, I can't stop looking in the mirror. Â Everyone I've shown it to so far have been blown away, and friends of mine who until now haven't thought about getting a tattoo are now considering it ;-) Â I tell them to go visit Peachy!! :)
Thank you Tattoo Alchemy & Peachy in particular, for the great tattoo experience. Â As my tat is healing, I'm currently trying to figure out what my next one is going to be ;-))
And to the reader who is still reading this review .... Â stop reading reviews and go visit Peachy. Â I have nothing but good to say about this tattoo place, and especially if you are thinking of your first tattoo, this is the perfect place for your first experience. Â Go check them out.
Thanks Peachy!!! You're a rock star!
My experience at Tattoo Alchemy was awesome . I went to several shops before deciding on an "artist". The design off the place is spot on. It has private spaces so you can feel comfortable, a calm zen decor , touch screen computers to view tattoo collections, it is all top of the line and vey clean. " Peachy" was my artist and she blew me away with her work. I am so impressed with my tattoo, the colors are impeccable . She took her time and is very personable , most of all she listens to what it is you want. Thank so much.

My husband and I found Jason Dunn on the internet a couple months back and though his videos and artwork were just incredible. Â My husband had been looking into getting a japanese themed tattoo done for a while but couldn't decide on who he was going to have do it. Â It is an amazing peice he put together but he needed the right artist to capture the art. Â We called Jason and in the same day scheduled our consulation, he requested that we send him some pics of the arm he wanted it on and pictures of what he was thinking of doing. Â On the consult day Jason called promptly and they had their meeting, going over all the details, etc. Â Tattoo day arrived and Peter (my husband) and I were definetly taken back on how AMAZING his shop was how professional and quick Jason was to greet us and get us started. Â Jason gave us a rundown on how he thought the tattoo should go and if you've seen Jasons work you will do what he says! Â Peter's first session done and I have to say with only 1 session down his tattoo looks INCREDIBLE! Â We were both blown away by his work. Â We had a great time while we were there, they were all very accomidating for the whole 4 hrs making sure we were both comforatable and taken care of! Â I cannot wait to see Peter's finished product and look forward to getting my own work done by Jason. Â If you are smart you will stop looking for a tattoo artist and go to Alchemy. Â Thank you to everyone there for taking such great care of us!
Best,
Jess and Pete
