I have had all my tats done here and the work is awesome and I always recommend this shop for work.

Andrew and Jesus are awesome artists.

Literally called this place asking if there was a minimum price for a tattoo. They told me $50. The piece I want is the size of a dime (never have gotten a tattoo in my life, let alone even been to a tattoo parlor) and me and my friend decide it's too expensive and the tattoo size we want would be more around $20-$30 and so we decided to keep looking around.

Less than a minute later after talking to this woman, the tattoo parlor calls back, with some douchebag answering. I answer saying hello, he responds "So are you the girl who thinks her tattoo is worth twenty dollars?" Thinking hopefully this guy was about to have some sort of agreement or compromise, I wishfully responded, "yes".

He then has the audacity to say "Oh well then i hope you don't come back here to get it fixed because it's going to cost you a hell of a lot more than $20 to get your shitty tattoo fixed".

If that doesn't say enough about the artists of this place, I don't know what else is. The fact that this guy took the time to call me back just to be rude to me and unprofessional FOR NO REASON is ridiculous!!!!! I may be uninformed about the prices of tattoos, but that does not justify his intention of calling me back.

THEY ARE TERRIBLE AND RUDE. THIS DESERVES NO STARS maybe just a piece of shit.

after a long night of hookah I thought it would be a great idea for my friends and i to all go do something we had been talking about for 4 years getting a tattoo. since we were by west oaks mall we went to the said tattoo parlor in hopes of getting our first tattoos. We walked in around 12:30am and where greeted by the only staff member  at the time "Tiger John". we all had a idea of what we wanted but tiger john took the time to explain what would be the best options for us. I ended up getting a beautiful japanese character for lion, one friend also got japanese symbols and my other friend got a sick scorpion. the thing that amazed me about tiger, he explained the difference of when you use the actual symbol for something and when you type something into a translator and get a synthesis of sounds that formed what you spelled. also the shop closes at 2am but he stayed intill 4 getting all of our tattoos done to perfection !

i will definitely be going back soon for more ink !

    Dude.

Paul Weezy. I frickin love this guy.

Got myself into a lil' bit of a mishap with a CBR in my cartilage. I was able to pop the bead out just fine, but I just could NOT get the ring out. My ear even started bleeding a bit from all the stress! Poor thing. After a good few minutes of panicking, I called Paul up to see if he could help...and was comforted by a "come by and I'll take care of you." I came by a few hours later and Paul sat me down, completely un-phased by my swollen, red ear. I'll tell you, it was NOT a pretty sight. The extraction was a bit painful, but I'm just glad I was able to get it out...and I wouldn't have been able to do it without Paul!

    Other reasons why he rocks:
    * Took care of me even though I didn't get my cartilage pierced by him.
    * Kept everything clean and sanitary (gloves, new pliers, and all) even though it was a quick procedure.
    * Didn't cost me a thing.

Again, make sure you call ahead if you're planning to see Paul. He's not on site all the time.

There are some things in the consumer world that one doesn't go cheap on.  Those things can range from daycare to dental work, laptops to sex toys.  The list can go on and on; and they all depend on your personal experience and preferences.  In my opinion a tattoo is just as critical as a root canal or a finger massager.  One, a tattoo is permanent and meaningful; and two, it's either something that you're going to be proud of or too mortified to show the light of day.

Hence the reason why I searched high and low in Houston for the right parlor and artist for what I needed.  In time, my queries led me to Texas Tattoo Emporium.  One of the comments I heard about this place was a friendly and helpful atmosphere, especially for first-timers like me who are (were) epidermal virgins to the needle.

I wanted to get a tattoo to commemorate the memory of my late wife - so the whole motivation had a lot of meaning for me.  So it was important for me to find the right atmosphere and person to help me honor the memory of someone special.

Unfortunately, my first impression with the 1540 Westheimer location was anything but notable.    I met the artist and he seemed less than enthused to help me out.  I thought, "well, maybe I caught him during a nasty hangover, or his morphine hadn't kicked in just yet."  But I gave him a rough drawing of what I was looking for in spite of his chilly response, and asked if this is something he can help me with.  He made a copy of my rendition and said he'd call me back in a couple of days.  I hadn't heard from him since, in spite of my follow up calls.  The rest of the staff, when I asked for said artist, was about as friendly as a door slam to the face.  I suppose tattoo parlors on that side of town are less responsive to non-artists or something.  Pfft!  It wasn't as if I was asking for a tattoo of a dolphin or anything less complimenting.

I did, however, go to the sister location on 13664 Westheimer where I met Lupe.  Though he didn't know exactly the type of ankh I was looking for (which was a part of the design I had in mind), we did tour along the walls till we found a collection of images that he pieced together and designed an awesome likeness that superseded anything I thought of.

On the outside of Texas Tattoo Emporium on the west side of Houston, it announces a clean and friendly atmosphere.  Believe me, you, there is truth in advertisement at this place.  It's clean and orderly.  Lupe was very accommodating and patient with somebody like me who didn't know a thing or two about receiving a tattoo.  I will definitely come back to this place for another.  The tattoo is a very stirring image for me.  Yes, sir...I'll be back for some serious poking.  It's unfortunate though, that the west side parlor is linked with the east side.  Otherwise, I'd give the east side a one star, zero if I could.  The east side should be grateful for the west side's efforts for making the namesake look good on Yelp.
