Let me just tell you ALLEK is the one to go to. Â His lines are hella straight and he has a very light hand. Â I've gotten a few tattoos from him before and getting some more as I speak. I've gotten several compliments on the tattoos he has done. Â I usually don't go to the same person again after I get one tattoo because I'm very spontaneous, now i just want him to tattoo me :)
Review Source:Found out about A-Town thru a good friend of mine that got a Polynesian half sleeve from Seymour Kaniho. When we went to the shop right away everyone greeted us and was so accommodating and friendly. I got a Polynesian half sleeve from Seymour that was just AWESOME and well worth the 7hr session. Seymour is an awesome Braddah and the rest of the artist really make you feel at home and like hanging out with good friends, everyone always joking and laughing. After getting a tat Braddah Seymour bought us a few rounds next door and even played some rounds of pool then went back to the shop and had a late night BBQ at the back parking lot of the shop when the shop closed. It was an awesome island style BBQ, man! I can just chill here all day even without getting a tat, that's how chill and cool all of them were at the shop...and about my tat? All I can say is, I would never go to anyone else, Seymour Kaniho is DA MAN!!! And all I hear from people that see my tat is....DAAAAYYYYMMM!!! THATS SICK BRAH!!!!....nuff said!!! A-TOWN is the place to go peeps!!!
Review Source:First tattoo I ever wanted was a whole leg piece from my knee to my ankle . I was nervous , because I didn't know how to look for a artist . Once I came across Big LÃo , I knew he was my guy. Very welcoming and patient walked me through the whole process . Now I have this amazing Polynesian leg piece , and get compliments on it everyday. Nervous scared or just a first timer , LÃo is the guy to go to for Polynesian work ! Thanks bro!
Review Source:Terrible! This place talks n rushes you to things. Beebo is terrible w his freehand, no complete pre design to see the final outlook and placement but just a small hand held mirror to see bits and pieces instead of my complete behind! Â Came home crying w the ugliest huge thing supposedly be the elegant dreamcatcher and small artistic feathers that turned out to be a plain round thing w bulky ribbons and giant plain feathers hanging on and around my butt crack!!!! Â So corny and huge for my petite frame! Â Dan trying to fix it but it's already a big ugly thing. Â It has been consuming me since w regrets. Â I have been doing lots of crying and scheduled a consult for the removal since day one. Â Wish I never even heard of A-Town nor go there. Â Humongous regret that's been dragging me down. Â (Only have to give it a one star for Dan)
Review Source:LOVE this place!!!! Went for the first time today and got 3 tatts done by Beebo. They came out better than I had even envisioned them to. Great atmosphere and all the employees were so fun and cool. I highly recommend this shop. Very satisfied with not only the work but the way I was treated. As for another review I read talking about stickers on the wall in one of the rooms that were offensive, I don't know about you but when I go to a tatt shop I expect it to be fun and "out there". I don't expect to see bunny and puppy dog decorations on the wall. Common sense people! Great place and you all should really check it out ;-)
Review Source:Love this place ! The artists here are funny, friendly, and they always make you feel comfortable. Don't let the outside sign fool you.. even though it says "Tattoo" it's really A-town lol. My first experience was on 8/14/12, I went in the afternoon for a walk in and was immediately greeted by the staff. At first I was kinda nervous since I realized I was the only girl in the shop. I looked around and all the artists were very busy tattooing many customers. I brought in a picture of a roman numeral design and Danh was my artist. He was chill, laid back, and answered all of my questions. Since it was a small tattoo, it didn't take long but he did a great job ! The ink came out clean. A month later, I went back for a tattoo cover up. I had a lotus flower with some script underneath it. Long story short, but I basically hated it for so long since a previous ghetto cholo tattoo shop f'*** up  the color ink on the flower. I went in for another walk in at A-town on 9/12/12  and this time Hene was my artist. I explained to him how I wanted the script to be cover up with waves, and for the lotus to be recolored with a touch up on it. He drew on my skin first and basically free handed the whole thing ! It came out so nice. The waves covered the whole script and I love how he put so much effort and detail to it. Hene kept cracking jokes through out the whole tattooing process, making me feel relaxed and comfortable ! I'll be back for sure for more tattoos, I will only go to this shop from now on :)
Review Source:My wife and I lost our son last year and both wanted tattoos to remember him forever. Si'i was able to take the time out of his busy schedule to make two one of a kind designs that we will cherish forever. Si'i also had previously completed the tattoo in remembrance of my father which was free handed and flows perfectly with the muscles in my arm and my son's tattoo. Â Si'i and his other artists have been gifted by God to bring to life these wonderful works of art. Money and time waiting should not have a factor in getting the best work of art that will be on your body for the rest of your life. I live on the East coast now but am willing to travel to this shop just to get more work done.

Review Source:I've been wanting to finish my half-sleeve and couldn't have chosen a better place to get inked! Born and raised a Hawai'i boy and now living in California, I wanted an artist with island roots and experience doing tribal pieces. I went to A-Town Tattoo on a saturday with a few ideas in mind hoping to just go through a consultation, but Hene said he was available to tattoo that day and started to get to work.
Hene did an amazing job!! He was able to work around my existing honu tattoo while incorporating a couple filipino/polynesian patterns from 2 of my brothers sleeves. His freehand work is crazy good and I'm very pleased with how my piece came out!
I wasn't expecting to drop as many $$$ as I had at the end of my 3 sessions, but truth is, you really get what you pay for.
Overall, my experience there was great and I'm glad I chose A-Town Tattoo. There is definitely a 'family' feel to the shop and all the artists are super chill. They work while jamming to island music and make you feel comfortable while you're getting tattooed.
Lots of thanks to Hene and the crew down at A-Town Tattoo!
Hene's freehand is out of this world, if you're looking for quality, cleanliness and just a plain chill crowd/place to get inked up at, this is your spot!! Out of all my tats, I am SO proud to have their artwork displayed on my arm and give my thanks to A-Town for making it happen! Can't wait to come back and get more! (Hene also makes amazing meat-pies w/gravy.. pompompom!)
Review Source:Strictly a piercing review.
Actually a third resort. A friend wanted an industrial bar, and we had two other shops in mind. The first one didn't have piercers on Monday (go figure, shoulda called first), and the piercer from the other place was on vacation. Her work and school schedule is so packed that it was a miracle she even had Monday evening off, so she didn't want to wait.
Seeing the nice reviews, we called ahead to make sure there was a piercer in. Upon someone answering the phone and her asking that question, the guy on the other side said, "Hang on, let me see if there's someone here that can do that." That worried me, slightly, since he was gone for about two minutes and came back saying that we could come in.
I watched him take the new jewelry out of the package, but I wasn't paying attention at the point where he got the needle. Not sure if he walked into the other room and got it, but he was showing an apprentice how to do everything, so the process took wayyy longer than normal.
He had the gloves on the entire time, but kept touching things over the 20 minute ordeal, so what is the point?
After it was all over, she went to pay with her debit card and neither the piercer nor the apprentice knew how to use it. The guy tattooing a customer had to stop what he was doing and run the card.
She also tipped him before we left, and the guy actually just said, "Shit. Thanks."
Yeah, classy...
The piercing itself looks good, and my friend is reacting just fine to it. Her ear wasn't even red after an hour or two. I do have to say, when he was telling her about the aftercare, I'm kinda glad he was an advocate of warm water and soap for a cleansing/cleaning product instead of pushing a purchase of sea-salt solution or something.
I think it'll be fine, and they need more practice, but I wouldn't come here. Not as clean as I'd like it to be. I also noticed an inspection thing on the glass display case walking in. It was about not using new needles all the time and that the action had been "corrected." Slightly unsettling to a person like me.
Nothing but quality work comes out of this place! Â I went in on a Thursday night, the place was packed. I spoke with Dan, gave him a few ideas as to what I wanted and about twenty minutes later he showed me a pretty awesome sketch. Next thing I know I'm laying down on the table getting my tattoo.
Dan was one of the most laid back and chill tattoo artists I've ever encountered.  He was cool to talk to and answered all my questions. He's also a phenomenal artist. I'd have to say he's done the best work I have, and I have around twenty tattoos. Plus, you know it's going to look good when everyone walks by and talks about how good it looks.
This place is very clean and sanitized. The guys here are very professional yet funny. They joked around and made me feel comfortable right from the start. If you're looking for an affordable yet satisfying piece, definitely go to A-Town. Also, if you're looking to fix a previous piece, they'll work with you to find a satisfying solution. I was unsatisfied with my previous tattoo and the guy ended up free-handing over my previous tattoo, transforming it into something I really ended up loving! Long story short, I love this place. They're clean, friendly, and talented. I'd definitely recommend this place to anyone who's in the area and looking to get a tattoo!!
Review Source:ASK FOR ALLEK
I was FINALLY able to clear my schedule just enough to get started on my long awaited tattoo. It's been many years since I've have the pleasure to feel that oh-so-heavenly pain of getting ink'd up. I made an appointment with an awesome artist named Allek and ventured down Brookhurst to get this bad boy started. Not fully settled on what I wanted on my arm, it took us some quality time and plenty of doodling until my artist illustrated my scattered ideas into that perfect tribal inspired piece that I finally agreed on. SUCCESS!
The shop is your typical clean tattoo parlor with talented artists busy sketching and taking care of clients. They even have a nice little waiting area for all your waiting needs. LOL! On this particular day, the place was packed to the brim with people wanting a "consultation" and others waiting to get started. Every artist was seriously putting in work! That sweet buzz of painful harmony was ringing throughout the whole time I was there. Now, that's what I call a legit tattoo shop!
I followed Allek from another tattoo shop in Stanton. I'm glad he found a kick ass place like this to call his new home. He's super laid back and easy to talk to. Allek has a lot of talent when it comes to creating any kind of art. I trusted him 110% to craft a good looking piece that fit my body type. I highly recommend asking for him and seeing if he's the right man for you and all your tattoo needs.
Amazing work!! I can't wait to get my arm finished and start on the rest of my body.
Everyone in the shop is real personable, friendly and down to earth. Â No picking designs from a wall here, each piece is an original. Â Outstanding work from Si'i but don't take my word for it, stop by and say hello and check out their portfolio. Â I've had 3 sessions done here so far and the work is just plain sick! Â Friends, family and co-workers see the work done on me and they want to go here as well. Â That says a lot about the art the comes out from this shop. Â Excellent!
Review Source:I got my first tattoo done here last December (2010) I was in LA with some friends for a few days and I had been planning on getting one done. The only problem was, I wanted a traditional tattoo done and I didn't want to get it done by just anyone. So after yelping this place, I thought I'd give it a try. I walked in and I felt like I was surrounded by family, everyone was very kind, they gave me an estimate as to how much my tattoo would cost and I was able to set up an appointment for the next day.
When I got to the shop the next day for my appointment, no one was there and I ended up having to wait outside for an hour or two in the rain (hence, only 4 stars), but when Flo came she let my friends and I in and made us feel at home.
I had my tattoo done by Hene and at first, I was a little nervous. The concept I wanted seemed to be a little difficult at first; I wanted the design on my tattoo to match a portion of my dad's tribal band but all I had for Hene was a somewhat blurry picture of my dad's tattoo on my phone. After a few sketches, I was finally satisfied with what he wanted to do. The whole process took about 4 hours which wasn't too bad, and the tattoo turned out even better than I had expected. Hene even added a few designs of his own into the tattoo while still making sure that it resembled my dads.
Overall, I am extremely satisfied with my tattoo and I'm already planning on going back for my second!
I want to thank Lio and A-town for the warm welcome! Loved my Polynesian/inca god tattoo! I got mad props from many people friends and family. Lio is the man, he get down and takes his time, very creative and dedicated to his work! I highly recommend you to get tatted by Lio. I plan to get more work done soon along with some friends. Nothing but love n peace A town! Thanks again Lio! Keep doing the Damn thing bro! No pain no gain!
Review Source:THIS IS STRICTLY A PIERCING REVIEW:
I can tell this place doesn't do very many piercings, so I should have known better and gone to a professional piercing parlor that really knows their stuff.
First, I went in to get my noise re-pierced after leaving the jewelery out for a day or two. It's been about two months and the guy doing the piercing made me jittery by telling me that it was going to hurt a lot since it's going through scar tissue. This I know, but thanks for telling me and scaring me before the procedure.
Also, they're not very clean when it comes to what piercing parlors are usually associated with--no clutter, very clean, and VERY sanitized. I brought in a piece of my own jewelery and the piercer just sprayed some alcohol on it before the procedure.. Also, I saw plenty of ants running around the counter where all the tools were being placed..
and re-piercings do hurt. I teared up quite a bit when he pushed the needle through my nose.
After the procedure, the piercer didn't even give me any aftercare instructions (I know this isn't the first time i've gotten something pierced, but you should still make this a procedure to always tell customers after-care instructions)
The bill was only $30, and i left a good tip, which In hindsight wasn't that great of an idea.
2 stars for the guy being chill and for it being so cheap, but i'm sure as hell going to be taking care of this piercing in fear that it may get infected.
So as promised, i got my 1st session done by danh for the koi outline with some shading on the water. Next session will probably be color. But, danh suggested that doing black all the way would look nice.
Anyway, im happy that i listened to danh's suggestions. Im more than happy and satisfied eventhough it's only the outline.
The work is clean. The lines are perfect (japanese style). Danh's work ethic is great. He made sure that i was comfortable physically and mentally.
Ill upload photos of the koi outline and you should judge for yourself.
Again, a-town tattoo is highly recommended. A+++
One big happy family..Si'i is awesome. Dan is so adorable and helpful. Hene is so sweet and Ben is well Ben :) All are very helpful and make you feel like one of the family. Si'i did a beautiful cover up for me on my shoulder. He is a perfectionist and free hands almost everything. I am very, very happy well worth my hard earned money! Oh and Ben.. Happy Birthday- F you!
Review Source:I'm glad I chose this establishment for my first tattoo. The artist and owner Siu was pretty awesome I gotta admit. He was able to incorporate two different things I wanted on a pretty cool computer using this program he has so he could show me how it would look. It was a little over my head how he did it, but it was exactly how I wanted it. Furthermore, the end result was exactly how it was supposed to come out, and I am forever relieved for that! I'm very happy with the way it turned out. The whole thing took about six hours and included a lot of detail and even some color. He's got some sick shading skills as well. Only gripe, this place is expensive. I paid the hourly rate (obviously they let me know about this) which was around $130/hour I think. Can't really remember, but the whole thing with a tip was like $850. OK, well here's the thing I didn't realize. I should have asked, but my ignorance cost me. Some tattoo shops will stop the clock during breaks. This one does not. We took a few. Mostly to smoke, but also to eat lunch. They charged me for all that time, so I estimate those breaks cost me around $100. Kinda crappy, but next time I won't be so naive. Despite this, I would recommend this place to anyone. I would even go back as well, but I don't live in California and was only visiting.
Review Source:The only reason I did not give this place 5 stars is because I actually have not gotten a tattoo here, but recently did a photography project that required me to take pictures inside tattoo shops. It is not such a fun thing to ask tattoo artists if you can photograph their work for free and their clients. I walked into A-Town tattoos and spoke with Rob, who invited me in to take pictures of him tattooing a girls back (which reminds me I owe him copies). he was friendly and made me feel comfortable. I have tattoos and he asked if I would get one and I hadn't planned on it that day so I told him soon ..
the tattoo shop was clean and set up real nice with a coffee table filled with books of the artists work and ideas for incoming customers. The staff was ALL very friendly and made me feel comfortable. Slick Rick was tattooing there, whom I had heard about from a friend, and he was nice too. A lot of the places I stopped by were not interested in helping me and were very rude. I do not appreciate that since it gives tattoo shops a bad rap and I plan on working in one someday .. It is refreshing to see friendly approachable staff at a tattoo shop.
I would definitely get work done here, the artists work was great and there were numerous awards hung on the wall for titles that the artists there hold for great work.
