Part of a positive experience is the way an establishment treats its customers. Â The staff at Asylum are professional and friendly, & definitely do not make you feel like a walking dollar sign (believe me, I've had that). Â My friend & I walked in one night but the only tattoo artist there was doing a large piece, so we couldn't be serviced. Â The piercer at the front desk encouraged us to get comfortable anyway & look around, then gave us all the information we needed to come back the next day. Â We decided on the artist Mike Ryan, based on his awesome detailing. Â Mike Ryan was very professional, efficient, and just an all around cool person. Â Both us are thrilled with the tattoos (a quote & zodiac sign) and will be back.
Review Source:I've gotten 2 of my 5 tats from here and have had great experiences. The artists are extremely down to Earth, personable and funny as hell.
The place is small, prices are reasonable and it's clean. It reminds me of a typical barber shop where everyone is cracking jokes and talking lots of ISH.
They have 2 artists which know what they are doing. No amateurs here. Eddie was a professional and I will recommend them to anyone.
I have three separate experiences at Asylum Studios - two piercings and one tattoo. Â Every experience was as great as I could have hoped for. Â Both piercers and the tattoo artist were awesome. Â They were all big, tough looking guys, but each had a very calming and professional demeanor. Â It's good to have a place like this, which always lives up the the great reputation that certainly precedes it.
As far as the prices go, they are cheaper than some places where I've seen less value. Â You shouldn't really look for the cheapest place you can find, as quality work costs money, but Asylum is far from expensive, and the quality is great.
Overall, I would recommend Asylum to anybody in the Bronx looking for tattoos or piercings. Â It's super clean, super friendly, and they do the job super well.
I've had two tattoos done here and I am a very happy customer! Everyone is friendly and the shop is clean, which are really the two most important things next to talent. I had each tattoo done by someone different and both came out exactly as I had wanted it. Definitely ask for Brooklyn because he'll have you laughing the whole time.
