Buyer beware. Viet's a nice guy and his artwork was stellar, but be prepared to wait, and wait, and wait, and wait to get in for appointments.
It became a multi-month process to get a consultation, sketch and first appointment. And my inquiries about status of getting sketches and setting up appointment were met with all kinds of excuses -- which may be true or not.
The only complaint about his actual tattooing was that he is a little light-handed. Could've been much darker.
Final straw was when he cancelled on my coloring appointment with another excuse and never answered my text about rescheduling. I'll be going elsewhere to get it finished.
My tattoo guy has fallen below my standards and so I was back on the hunt for a new one.
I came across Viet at Blink Tattoos by Yelpers reviews.
I went in for a consultation and felt like he knew exactly what I was talking about and wanting, I felt good about talking with him about my ideas and that he was on the same page as me. So the appointment was set.
I went in for my appointment time and loved the fact that I could watch movies during my session because it seemed to help both of us through the 5.5 hours or work. He did really good at asking if I was ok and telling me how awesome I and my skin is doing. Â When it became apparent that my skin could not go any longer he told me that it was time to stop, I liked that fact that he paid attention to more than just what I was saying and noticed my skin too.
The environment was very comfortable and Viet is an amazing artist.
I will be going back.
Went to Viet for my first tattoo ever after reading some good reviews on Yelp. I can honestly say that they are all right on track...he's awesome. He did a great job of customizing a design for me even though I had him change it 3 or 4 times. He was also excellent about educating me about black & white vs color and how they would look detail wise and age. It was a great first experience and I'll be back for more. As my first I can't compare pricing but all my friends who have tattoos also say I got a great deal for some amazing work - so that's just icing on the cake!
Review Source:I went in today at 10 am to get my first tattoo with Viet (actually two!).
First, before I decided to get one I researched pretty much all legitimate tattoo shops in the DFW area, and even some in Houston. Viet was the ONLY place that had all 5 star reviews (not just on Yelp, but other sites, too). That gave me some comfort, but continued to search just in case. Then I got on to his facebook page and saw his work (which he has more pictures of than on the Blink studio website) and WOW. It was beautiful and it appeared he could do pretty much everything!
So I shot him an explained what I wanted, and about 2 weeks later got it done! And this was right after he got back from a long vacation, which was great he could fit me in so soon!
This is NOT the average tattoo place that I imagined. This is a fun, cool, urban style loft that feels VERY safe. You have parking located in an adjacent garage and you have to go through several digitally guarded doors to get to the studio. This is very important to me because not just anyone can walk in or come by. I felt safe and secure!
Viet was amazing. So nice and very easy to talk to and let him know my ideas. He's not judgmental but will also help if you have questions or concerns. He's a true artist, no doubt! He sketched my idea, let me pick a movie to watch on his HUGE tv, and my fiance entertained himself with the fun games Viet had lying around! Even the guests not getting tattooed can have fun!
There was NO pain with my tattoos. I got a duck and balloon on one ankle and birds on a branch on the other. Super easy and the time flew by! We had nice conversation the whole time and there was never any awkward silence, even when we weren't chatting it up!
The prices was incredible for his work. I was expecting WAY more, and plus he gave us a parking pass so our parking was free! My tattoos are great a few hours later and I have not been sore or raw in any way.
I couldn't recommend Viet and Blink more. This is THE place to go and THE artist to trust your tattoo to. He's so sweet and I knew I wasn't going to be disappointed with my new (and first) tattoos! I am going to try and post a picture of my tattoos so everyone can see how awesome he can do, even when the idea is a little absurd!

I cannot say enough positive things about Viet at Blink Tattoos. This is NOT your average tattoo shop. It is a beautiful loft location and and is by appointment only. Viet was patient with me as we drew up my design and his work was awesome. He obviously does  high quality work and has clients who are more of the working professional type, as opposed to random people who just walk in off the street.
His work is AMAZING. The price was extremely reasonable and I felt so comfortable the entire time. If you're looking for someone who will personalize the experience for you and make you feel like you're his only client in the world, then this is the place for you. He also walked me to my car afterward, since it was late in downtown Dallas. My husband was so appreciative! This will be the ONLY place I consider when I get my next tattoo!
Let me join all the other yelpers and give Blink 5-stars!  Viet is the man!  I have been looking for a while for some work to cover up a tat.  I went to Viet showed him the tat I wanted covered and they 'typical' tattoo experience ended there.  Viet did not hand me a portfolio of his work or show me random designs in a book... we actually sat down and talked about different ideas and concepts so he could get a feel for exactly what I wanted.  From there he told me he wanted to draw a few sketches (since all his work is original).  I came back at a later date after agreeing on a sketch to get the cover-up.  He drew out the sketch on my body (free-hand) no stencils and let me take another look before he got started.  During the 2-hour session he made sure I was comfortable encouraging me to take a break if needed (no man, let's just get this over with, lol).  I was actually pleasantly surprised at the great quality of work, the detail, and how quick he was - for a 9x5 piece I was thinking 4-5 hours.  I also was surprised at how reasonably priced he was.  If you are looking for some bad-ass (meaning good) designs an artist who is extremely professional  and personable, a comfortable studio environment Viet at Blink is hands-down the one you need to see.  Prior to this tat it had been almost 20 years since my last tattoo.  Since I have found my own 'personal' artist; I am already planning my next design... coming soon.
Review Source:Viet! He is awesome! My wife and I went in on a Monday morning. She was getting a cover up and I an original piece. We had in mind what we wanted but weren't definite of anything. Viet stepped right in and brought our concepts to life. My wife says that's her last tat but I know I will definitely be back to see him and SOON. I wont let anyone else but Viet do any work on me!

Review Source:Just got my first tattoo by Viet, and I'm in love with his work! I was extremely nervous, but he made me feel very at ease and comfortable, and his quality of work is outstanding.
His studio is very inviting and relaxing. It's a loft with a tv and couches, so it's got a homey and chill vibe.
His prices are extremely reasonable, which surprised me. I wasn't sure what to expect, and figured it would cost me a fortune given the detail of my piece, but I was pleasantly surprised by how much he charged.
I will definitely go back and get my next piece done by Viet, and will recommend him to anyone and everyone.

loved the modern decor and stylish vibe of the studio ( which is a loft style apt on the first floor of a gorgeous building downtown Dallas)
everything  was absolutely perfect from the moment I walked in the door.... to the second he was done with my tattoo....  He took his time and didn't rush through my consultation to make sure things were perfect before becoming permanent. Â
this was my 3rd tatt... so I do have some other not so hot places to compare it to....
I wouldn't hesitate to return or to recommend this studio to any of my friends...

This is the first time I have been so excited to write a review.
I literally just left from seeing Viet on getting a tattoo that I have been wanting for a while. My problem was that what I wanted was very detailed and the placement on where I wanted it was going to be tight if it could get placed there at all. I walked in expecting to not get exactly what I wanted.
Once I talked to him, he said it should not be a problem and he really liked the design and talked me through everything even though I have had several tattoos already. His place is very cool, and the setup in intimate, clean, professional, yet relaxed.
Once he started we talked back and forth and kept making sure I was comfortable. He had no ego, he was as far from rude as possible, and he is a genuinely great guy. Now all that is fine but if his work isn't up to snuff that really doesn't matter. HIS WORK IS INCREDIBLE. It was much better than I hoped for and I will go nowhere else for ink.
I met his girlfriend as well and she was also kind and joined in as we talked about different places with good food while Viet finished up my piece. This was the best tattoo experience I have ever had and its the way it should be, and I will refer anyone who asks to Blink.
Overall: Great work, Great atmosphere, Super great guy, and the pricing was a bargain for the quality.

For Christmas, my husband surprised me with a tattoo consultation with Viet. He has done some black ink pieces on my husband, and I loved how they turned out. My husband gets lots of compliments at the gym and he always refers them to Blink.
I've been wanting a back piece for awhile and had an idea of what I wanted. I just couldn't visualize how it would all flow together and how my current tattoo would be incorporated. Viet used his creative ingenuity and came up with an amazing piece where everything came together beautifully. Four sessions and 20+ hours later, my tattoo is nearly complete and I am absolutely in love with it.
Viet does a wonderful job making you feel comfortable. He has a great personality and it feels like you've known him for years. His shop is unlike any other tattoo shop I've been to. They don't do piercings here, no tattoos on the wall to select from. All of Viet's work is custom made. Think of his shop as more of a loft, decorated very modern with an urban flare. Very clean. The tattoo chairs are in the living area so you can watch movies. Â My husband went with me most of the time. I think he was really there to get some movie watching time in!
It's by appointment only so you don't have customers walking in and out of the shop while you're getting your ink done. Love the privacy.
If you are shopping around for a tattoo shop, stop looking and check this place out! I recommend him to everyone...I'm even taking my dad here to get his first tattoo done.
Viet was great and very patient with us. First timer here... he helped me pick out script and proper placement. Â I felt very comfortable, and being a nurse... was asking all the aseptic technique questions. Â VERY CLEAN, VERY PROFESSIONAL. Would recommend to anyone. Love my tat. :) Â
BTW, he said, my tattoo was the smallest he's ever done..lol, his portfolio is impressive.
If you go, he's in the urban building, you have to go in and call the suite. Little confusing at first.
Viet was an amazing guy. This was my first tattoo and i came all the way from Saudi for it and he was amazing and explained everything and the shop was clean and hygenic. I also loved the decor which reflected his personality and appealed to mine. The swimming pool view while i was being tattooed was wonderful.. It was a fun experience and he was very helpful and answered all my emails and questions. This was not just a tattoo shop but an artists studio and it was an honour to have my art done by him. Being an artist myself i appreciated how he approached the tattoo as a piece of art. If you want to get an excellent quality tattoo and make a friend for life, then this is place to go.

Â He is definitely passionate about what he does while focusing on the needs of his clients using his artistic imagination to realm in a maginificant artwork. Â My first session of my tattoo with Viet, he used a template and worked off of that and added on the details. Â I was so impressed with his work, the second time I came back, I told him what I wanted and knew he had the perfect imagination to free-hand a snake on my back, in memory of my boyfriend who passed away. Review Source:I found this place through my brother in law who's had work done here. I went in thinking it would be a typical tattoo parlor but boy was I wrong! This place is awesome. It was nicely decorated with a very unique sense of style. With the perfect selection of music blaring, I felt right at home.
Viet who owns the studio was a cool cat. He was very patient considering he was dealing with a very particular me. We sat down and he took his time drawing and fixing my piece multiple times until I was perfectly satisfied. I couldn't have been more pleased with his thorough work. Oh, and he wears these cute purple gloves! haha I will definitely be back to Viet for more tattoos.

The artist there are very Professional and will work with you to get the right piece of art you like to have on you... From the work Blink has done on me and from the portfolio I have seen there at BLINK every piece of Art Blink did is different so you will never be like anyone else...
