First thing I smell when I walk in is Cigarette smoke. WHO smokes inside a store in Dallas, illegal, and especially a TATTOO SHOP? The furher I went back the more I smelled Pot. Next I notice its NOT the cleanest shop I have ever been in & definitely NO hygienic or sterile practices in place that you would think a Tattoo/Piercing Shop would have to follow from The Texas Department of Health. This has GOT to be just a cover for selling dope.  Good place to go if your looking for hepatitis or to buy pot so I guess you win both ways if you live in a trailer park. The Health Department should definitely check this place out. I can't believe I experienced what I did after reading some good things about this place but after visiting I got my tattoo at Obscurities on Cedar Springs VERY Clean, VERY Nice, VERY Professional. Thanks Guys!!!

Gizmo's is okay - not great, but not the worst either.  The prices are good and "Lil John" is very nice, but the women who work there are not at all personable (and that makes the general atmosphere somewhat uncomfortable).

I went in with an idea, Lil John outlined it with a Sharpie, it looked good, but then he decided to change it as he was going along without telling me.  I had wanted something in black, and ended up with black and some shade of purple ... along with shading (which we did not discuss).

On that point, it is my own fault for not emphasizing how SET I was on the SPECIFIC design we agreed upon.

However, what is not my fault is the fact that the shop was dirty when I went in, and that Lil John was using a Sharpie to draw on broken skin.  A Sharpie which would then have my blood on it.  A Sharpie which probably had other people's blood on it if he drew on them during the session as well.

So while the pricing is good and Lil John is a nice guy, the atmosphere is not all that welcoming, you may end up with something you didn't agree to / discuss / want, and it is not an appealing thought when you consider that the Sharpie going over your own broken-from-tattooing skin has more than likely gone over other people's broken-from-tattooing skin as well.

Gizmo's is amazing! Not only does it have a very comfortable and accepting atmosphere, but also the tattoo prices are great, considering the work its artists produce is exceptional.

All of the artists at Gizmo's have portfolios on display at the front of the shop. Each artist's portfolio is so impressive and extensive that I honestly believe you couldn't go wrong in being tattooed by anyone at Gizmo's.

John, aka "Lil John," tattooed some script (two years ago) and a gorgeous peacock feather (a year ago) on my left foot. The feather is so vibrant and colorful.  Whenever I am wearing shoes that do not cover it, I get compliments on it wherever I go. John has even touched up my foot from time to time (because you lose so much skin on your feet, touch ups are usually necessary to maintain a perfect tattoo) because he acknowledges that doing touch ups not only preserves the beauty of a good tattoo, but also reinforces a great relationship with his clients. I could not be happier with the work John has tattooed on my foot.
