I went in 9/14/13 to get my nipples re pierced after an un experienced piercer, pierced me wrong. ... I saw Pat and let me tell you, he is amazing! Eased my mind, answered all my questions perfectly! You can tell he is passionate about what he does!  This piercing actually hurt LESS than the first time! I called Blue Star Tattoos to set up an appointment for 5 members of my family in memory of my father and we couldn't have been more pleased. They got all of us done in 2.5 hours and were helpful and very talented. All our tattoos came out perfect.  It was so nice to have them offer their expertise on what would look best. Dante and Darrin are amazing!!! I would definitely recommend this tattoo shop!

I have read all the reviews and heard great things about this place. Also I read up on Pat's profile and he is an amazing piercer! My sister and I were extremely pleased with his work. We both got studs on our noses! He calmed our nerves and made sure we were comfortable. Definitely coming back if we ever need another piercing!

    Q: Piercings?
    A: Pat

That is ALL you need to know if you're looking for a highly skilled piercer!

So I've been wanting to get my tragus pierced and for a while, I was on Yelp looking for the best of the best. Now, I have tattoos, I've gotten stitches, and I wax my special place every month but when it comes to piercings, I freak out about the pain! So on this Monday morning before I committed to having my tragus pierced, I decided to scar myself a little more by googling "how much does a tragus piercing hurt?" and man, did I find insane answers. Fast forward 2 hours.

I meet Pat and let him know upfront how freaked out I am about this piercing. At this point, I was being the biggest baby on earth. I tell him EVERYTHING I have read online just a few hours ago and how hard my heart was pounding. Pat reassured me throughout the entire 5 minutes I was on the table getting ready to be pricked. We discussed the truth about the "crunching" sound and the pain that people talked about on online forums. He tells me he's going to push down a bit to mark the spot of where he is going to pierce, and then he tells me I'm just going to feel him push a little harder. 30 seconds is all it took to pierce me :) I was still lying down screaming "shut up!" in utter excitement because I did NOT feel anything nor did I hear that "crunch/popping" sound! Getting my ear lobes pierced hurt more! I couldn't believe it.

What's even better is that Pat did not try to sell me on any after care, but instead just gave me simple instructions on how to care for it. I am so happy with my decision and I can not and will not recommend anyone else to go to for piercings besides Pat @ Blue Star. Needless to say, I will be back at the end of the year to get my other tragus pierced as well :)

Thank you, Pat! You definitely made my day!!!! :)

    This is for piercing!

I had the pleasure of getting pierced by Lisa. She was super nice and knew her stuff. She went over the different jewelry that I could use. The pricing was way more reasonable than I expected. They had many different types/colors of jewelry choices. I highly recommended going here for your piercing needs, I will be back!

I just moved into the area and needed to find a shop to help with all of my piercing related needs. I drove by this place a couple of times and decided to check it out. Wow, this place is AWESOME.
Association of Professional Piercers certified members, high-quality body jewelry from top manufacturers, cleanly, polite and knowledgeable staff, super helpful, great service. This place rocks for piercings.
Anyone who complains that this place is expensive, or that the jewelry is too expensive needs to listen up: Body piercing is not something that should be taken lightly. This is your body we're talking about--and you deserve the best. High-quality body jewelry, handmade out of the finest and safest materials, education, and cleanliness are top-priority at Blue Star.
I came in here looking for a new piece for my nostril piercing because everything seems to be too large or annoying. I received excellent and cleanly service, alongside a beautiful new 18g labret for my nostril piercing. The second time I came here, I ordered a new internally threaded top for my upper lip piercing. The ordering process was timely and pleasant. When I went to pick up my order, I was having some trouble with my stretched earlobes, so I came in seeking advice. The piercer there (they have a huge staff,) knew exactly what to do, and even showed me pairs of inexpensive glass plugs for my earlobes in colors that would match my new internally threaded end--I didn't even have to ask! QUALITY SERVICE.

I am extremely pleased with the knowledgeable staff, the cleanliness of the shop, and massive selection of jewelry. They do custom orders too! One of the best shops in the Bay Area, I highly recommend it.

I've been to blue star tattoo a few times now. One time me and my girlfriend went in for a walk in and she had her tattoo touched up by Alana, and sense she had the time I got my Oaklandish tree done by her as well. The before and after for my girlfriends tattoo was night and day, she made it look much much better. My Oaklandish tree I wanted kind of small, but Alana educated me about how at the size I wanted the lines would fade together and it wouldn't hold the test of time, so we both agreed on a size and went for it. Both of our tattoos look today over a year later.

I've also gotten a tattoo by Darrin which was just as good!

Overall it was a great expierence. They have a clean and welcoming shop and do great work.

So I've been getting pierced at Blue Star since I was 18 and I love it! They have a way of making you feel completely at home while you are getting pierced and they answer every question you might have. Yes and I mean EVERY question. I have been tattoo'd there as well. My first two experiences were nice but I felt like they weren't as friendly answering my questions when it came to tattoos. It seemed as though that they were being judgmental without really saying it. One of the tattoo artists actually laughed at one of my ideas that I had for a tattoo. Call me a baby but I NEVER went back for getting tattoos again. I just didn't feel as comfortable with getting tattoos there, but I would DEFINITELY reccommend Blue Star for piercings though! Plus, they have $13 piercings every Friday the 13th!

So I came here for my first tattoo, I don't remember who did it, I was too busy being nervous but he was super nice and I am very happy with my tattoo. Looks exactly how I want it. They're very honest with you when you ask questions. The guy that did mine talked and told stories to keep my mind off of the needle. I actually went here because my best friend loves tattoos and piercings. She's had three tattoos done here and three piercings and she's been very happy with them. Though I thought the price might have been a little high for my little tattoo, but since I don't know any better I can't complain. I am planning on coming back for my next tattoo. Their new location is really odd but definitely nicer. Their old place was well hidden and hard to find. The new one is kind of funny because it's a nice looking yellow house. From the outside, you'd never think it's a tattoo/piercing place. Anyway, back to my tattoo, besides it looking exactly how I want it, he listened very well and even help me make the "last minute" decisions I haven't made when I got there about the tattoo and location. Very understanding and friendly place.

I got my nipples pierced by PAT and it couldn't have been better. After filling out the usual paperwork I went I into the back room to get pierced. The door was shut behind me so I had some privacy and I got ready to be pierced. Pat was great about explaining what he was doing and of course being my nipples I was nervous as hell but Pat's whole energy made it a lot easier. He was quick about 30-45 seconds for each nipple if that. He didn't have a problem talking to me the whole time and after it was done charged me a very fair price. I'd have no issue sanding anyone I know to see Pat.

I have wanted a dermal anchor between my brows for a couple of years now. I have a low threshold for pain and i wasn't in the "right place" in my life to make the leap. A couple of months ago, I took the leap and had it don by Nathan. He was very clean quick and informative. I had a tattoo touches up as well by Derick while I was there and he did a great job. So I was in and out and everything turned out great. I would totally recommend blue star to a friend.

I didn't know where to go to get the VCH piercing that I wanted so I did a little bit of research.  Internet recommended that I find a "certified" piercer so I looked at where they were located and evidently, every piercer at Blue Star is certified.  There was no doubt that I would travel the distance from Daly City all the way to Concord to get my piercing.

Went into the shop a little intimidated, but I was anxious to get it over with.  Once it was my turn to go in, the piercer made me feel so comfortable and talked to me while he was preparing himself for the piercing process and before I knew it, it was over.

Great service, and great work.  I wouldn't mind traveling all the way to Concord to get another piercing.

Darrin is a pure professional! I had a tattoo cover up and it looks very beautiful. We had a misunderstanding about the quoted price and only brought the amount I thought I was gonna pay. The work ended up more expensive but I only had the smaller amount I thought I was gonna pay. Darrin only took the smaller amount I had. I'm very tankful!

This place is awesome! I went in with my girl to get her Belly pierced and Pat was AWESOME! We had looked around and had just come from Zebra in Walnut Creek (horrible place) read my review on them, Pat had us in and out in an hour and it looks amazing and there was no discomfort or anything. If you are looking to get pierced do yourself a favor, go to Pat at Blue Star, he does not use a piercing gun, he does it right!

I went in today and was pierced by Pat. It was a clean, well decorated shop. I was happy to have a large selection of dermal implants to choose from. I liked how Pat didn't make me feel stupid cos I started to feel whoosy afterwards and laid facedown on the table till I stopped spinning. I always do that after any kind of body mod. Anyhow, I highly recommend this place as my dermal looks perfect and I'm so happy. Great prices. Worth the drive to get someone who is nice and does quality work. It's my face, I need to make sure it's taken care of.

I would recommended Blue Star and Nicole to a friend and even had my mom looking at her portfolio last night.

*This is just from a piercing perspective.

So I'm originally from Southern Cali and I am really picky about my piercing place because OuterLimits really set the bar high, on sanitation and what not. When I talked to my piercer, he recommended that I go to Pat at BlueStar Tattoos & Piercing. I've been in here a couple of times at their old place and bought clear rods for my lip piercing, but never had anything done until they moved. Their new place, I feel, is at a better location & the store feels more personal.

Now, in terms of service, Pat & Tiana are great. They both made me feel comfortable even through my senseless ramblings. I highly recommend Blue Star for piercing.

What really put me over the edge is the fact that they put my "Lost Dog" paper on their front door. That just shows that they're so very kind and care about their clients & their happiness.

There is nothing bad to say about BlueStar, honestly. Just always bring your ID, and ALWAYS tip. They will never ask for it, but honestly, they totally deserve a 15-18% minimum! Always! There's no better place for your piercing.

I finally found my artist. I got my 4th tattoo here. Nicole took care of me. I love her artistic background, which is sooo sick! We talked "ART" first and then made sure she could fit my budget. Never really talked hourly which is rare.  No doubt the other artists were great too.  It was a great experience there.  This is not a place that JUST wants your money, Tattoos are for life and they get that there.

I needed a new nose ring because I donated mine to our bathroom sink.*

Blue Star was on my way from one meeting to another so I stopped in.  I found a parking spot in the small lot next to the building.  They are located above a bar, in between Walgreens and the movie theater.

The woman working there was nice and very helpful. She showed me a cool stud option, quickly brought out the perfect nose ring when I requested one and even offered to help me put in my new hardware.

They have a customer rewards program where you rack up points from your purchases to earn gift cards.

*Wouldn't you know that I ended up finding my thought-to-be-lost-forever nose ring on our bathroom floor.  It had hidden there for two days.  Oh well, at only $10, it is worth having a back up.

This rating is on two visits...my first visit was mainly to ask about the gift cards I received & didn't know how much was on it...come to find out it had $350 & the gentleman that helped me was very nice.  On my 2nd visit...the same gentleman was very quiet & to himself which made the tattoo session for my niece a little awkward.  The piercer was awesome! He was very friendly!  The area was clean & spacious.  I really loved how they had designs on poster displays.  They had dart board for the people waiting.  All & all the visits were great.  I would come back if need be, otherwise I'd stay in my area.

This review is for piercing only.

I've gotten 3 piercings here (nose, tragus, bellybutton) and they've all turned out great! Pat is a wonderful piercer and I am hesitant to go anywhere else because he does such a great job. This piercing place is one of the best I've encountered. All my piercings here have been painless and easy and have healed well. The jewelry they sell is top of the line, I don't buy my jewelry anywhere else as my skin is super sensitive. It isn't expensive considering what you are getting, a quality piercing with jewelry that won't infect your skin.
    LOVE Blue Star!

PAT is my absolute favorite piercer in the entire world lol. He's always really calm and patient with me and walks me through everything so that I'm not in the dark about it. He's gentle, friendly, and professional.

Ive gone back to him three times and seriously don't want anybody else piercing me. I don't know anything about any of the other piercers or tattoo artists but as far as my piercings go, he's always my guy.

Somebody was talking about prices going up but usually, for me, if the price matches the service then I'm all good. I would never pay less than $50 for a piercing. If it's that cheap there probably a reason lol.

I went in to get a dermal on my chest and all the guy could do was brag about how his friend was the one who invented them..... Honestly i don't care. So that was a bit annoying but i tuned him out. Then he made me take my bra off so it was centered with my body only to find out that once i put my bra back on it was not in line with my cleavage and squished between the girls. A couple months later it came out half way before work so i had to head to my local shop in Vallejo, DV8, to find out they put the wrong bar in. Luckily I know the piercer at DV8 and he was more than happy to fix my situation for me for free. Also the guy who's friend supposedly invented it (at Blue Star) made the process of the piercing way longer and more painful. I had to get it taken out and completely redone. Overall my experience was terrible.

Every time I have my lower back exposed and someone asks me, "So what instrument do you play?" I always get reminded of the day I got my tattoo.

And the place was here, Blue Star. I decided on getting a treble clef symbol (just a simple treble clef that I clipped out from one of my old music sheets) and a cross (an outline of a cross that I usually wear everyday.) Thank God my friend Anne went with me because I was terrified. The guy was super nice and warned me that because of the location of the tattoo, that it was going to be painful. I remember the first moment needle touched skin and spine, and yelped out (no pun intended) a big "YOWWWWZERRS!" Anne started to converse with me to get my mind off the pain. Again, Thank God she was there.

I got my tattoo years ago, and I still remember the day like it was yesterday. I was definitely treated well and their work is reasonably priced. I would definitely go back if another ink session was in my future.

Best of luck trying to find the place. If you're coming down Concord Ave from the freeway, look for a two story building on your right. Blue star is on the second floor. They have limited private parking as well.

My mom, my step dad and other friends and family have had their tattoos done here. 2 years ago I was kind of afraid to get my nose pierced but Darrin and the crew there made me feel safe and really everything was set up like a hospital. I am definitely going back, in fact, I am going in this Thursday to get the Monroe piercing. These guys are really honest, and to those people who get offended with artist that don't talk to them while they are working on your body, its because they are concentrating on making sure that your tattoo is what you wanted. You talking to them can distract them so do them a favor and shut up. These people are the only ones that I will trust with a tattoo and piercing. Going in on Thursday, and saving up to get my tattoo in July. Oh, and as far as pricing goes, you pay for the quality you get. Pay $20 for a tattoo your expecting to be a masterpiece, I don't think so. Like I said, quality and great customer service, Blue Star Tattoo is awesome

I got my ears pierced at Claires, so when I decided to get my nose pierced for my 20th birthday I was extremely scared! I went in and the guy was soo nice and made me feel so comfortable. Now, he did the piercing but he pretended he was still prepping me for it, and once he asked me if I was ready for it, I knew he had done it already. Although, his little trick didn't work, I'm still glad he did it because I think it still helped me. Weird, huh? A couple weeks ago, I got a thread of a towel stuck and knotted in there. We tried with tweezers to get it out but finally my boyfriend took me back here to get it out. I was afraid they would have to take it out and re-pierce it because it was knotted PRETTY bad in there. the guy was super friendly, and only chuckled a little bit when I told him what i did. But he was quick and got it out quickly and without hurting me. If I decide to get another one or maybe even a tattoo, this is where I'll go.

Until last Friday, I hadnt been to this shop in a long time.

I brought my daughter here when she was about 14 to get her belly button pierced - Darrin would not pierce her on the top - get this - not enough body fat to hold the piercing in.  He was worried it would work its way out and possibly leave a keloid.

He turned us away.  I totally respected him for doing that.

We returned at 15 to try again - still no luck.  But he did agree to pierce her on the bottom of her belly button.  She is going to be 20 this month and still loves her piercing.

Since then she has returned to get her nostril pierced and I got a beautiful dragonfly on the back of my neck - its one of the most painful tattoos I've ever gotten.  Surprised me since I'm getting my entire back done.

Anyhow, I stopped in Friday night for a new piece of jewelry for my nostril.  The piece I'd been wearing kept turning and the post which was too long kept hanging out of my nose.  Got tired of sticking my finger in my nose and readjusting it 100's of times throughout the day.  I got hooked up with a darling little sapphire stud and the coolest thing about it is there is no post in your nostril.  There is a little backing on the inside of the nose to hold the stud in place.  VERY cool.  Its so nice to not have to worry about whether or not the person I'm talking to thinks I have a booger hanging out of my nose.

I can only give you four stars because the parking at this location sucks and I HATE the skinny balcony I've got to walk along upstairs to get into your shop!

I went there about 3 to 4 years ago. I asked for a pink norcal star in the back of my neck...that shit was over priced and crap!!! he found the right size star off the internet and cut it out and placed it on my neck...So i usually talk with whomever is working on me..it's good to build relationships..this dude was wack!! He said this was his first tattoo and let me tell you when he was done i could tell..it was crooked, darker in certain places and he went in so deep it felt so incredibly painful...I can't even desecribe it!!!!

The tat scabbed over fucking black and =became incredibly infected..it puffed out. I kept trying to get someone on the phone to discuss this at blue..no one would even call me back. What kind of freaking horrible place are you running!!!!! reason I'm bitching so long after the fact is I had to pay to get that shit covered up so I wouldn't have some demented star on my body..

I'm looking for a new place to create my fifth piece...I saw that people are commented on this place and I had to speak my piece...Absolutely the worse place Ive been. If you have any sense you won't go there!!!

Damn do I appreciate Blue Stars honesty.

Last year, I decided on a whim to get my conch (inner ear) pierced; I had always wanted one but never really felt the urge to actually get up and do it. I walked in to Blue Star, and let the piercer know what I wanted to have done. She looked at me and said "Wow, it has actually been a really long time since I've had to do one of those. Let me see if Darrin is here because I'm not comfortable enough to do it!"

Whew, Thanks (: If this were any other piercing shop *cough cough Zebra*, the piercer would have went ahead and made the attempt anyway. Luckily, Darrin was there and he walked her through the procedure step by step. I also appreciated the fact that she was asking lots of questions along the way like "How do you know to place the jewelry there? How do you know to do this, how do you know to do that?" She was genuinely interested in learning, which is always a good sign (:

The placement of my Conch piercing is absolutely perfect for the jewelry that I selected. Since it was pink and sparkly, Darrin explained to the other piercer where jewelry like this should go so that others will actually be able to see it. Since the conch is in such an awkward place, it really does take a professional - with a steady hand - to get it right!

Blue Star also pierced my Nose; the quality and selection of jewelry that they carry is really extensive. They also do special orders if you put down a deposit. The one thing I wish they carried more of were 2mm nose screws ...but again, they'll order them upon request!

It's also nice knowing that this shop is part of the Association of Professional Piercers (APP). There arent many shops in the bay area that are APP certified and its comforting to know that Blue Star piercers have attended classes on safety and sanitation. I've had a few different piercers here but each have all been exceptionally nice and very knowledgeable!

I'm kinda running out of places to pierce so I may not be back too soon for a new hole; but the jewelry selection always keeps me coming back!

Got a nostril piercing from Darrin (my first non-ear piercing).  He was gentle & funny, keeping me as relaxed as possible.  Didn't hurt, but my eyes wouldn't stop crying!  He was so nice in holding a kleenex under my eye while taking a phone call (he was all alone that day).  Very clean, sterile (he's really into that).  There were lots of people waiting for tattoos and piercing.  His other artist had called in sick that day, so he was all over the place, yet held it together and took the time with me.  Has other merchandise like T-shirts, plugs, rings, etc.  I liked this place.

I also got my tongue repierced here for the 3rd time and it was safe, quick and friendly. The owner pays special attention to detail and cleanliness, so that is such a plus.
