It's kismet I found Big Greg and was able to be tattooed by him. Over the last year I'd been browsing artists online in San Jose, SF and Santa Cruz but nothing stood out matching what I had pictured in my head.  Randomly I saw a post on Instagram which led me to Capital Ink where I looked at the portfolios.

I was a bit nervous that Big Greg told me he'd draw on me first with a Sharpie. I wouldn't be approving of the tattoo before making a 2.5 hour trek to Sac. People thought I was nuts (I am). My daughters and I turned it into a girls weekend. Greg has movies playing too. We watched Knocked up and Forgetting Sara Marshall. Focusing on something funny really helps the pain. BUT, he also uses a newer tattoo gun which I think hurts a bit less. It's more sterile too!

So professional, so nice, so artistic! I'm in love with my new tattoo and can't wait to get another. My clients want to touch the damn thing because it's so colorful!

Went to get nipples pierced by Irish. I was at first kind of drawn back when I walked in because no one was at front desk and everyone kind of just looked at me. Then I found someone and asked where Irish was. I caught him just before he was leaving, I didn't have appointment. He was gentle and accommodating. Eased me through the pain. Great guy!

I really made a yelp account just to review this place. One Monday afternoon I just decided to go into Capital Ink to see what everyone was talking about because I've been thinking about getting a tattoo. The shop is in old sac, down a flight of stairs which is totally creepy, but the actual shop itself was very warm and inviting. Btw their lounge is freaking comfy! I could stay forever in their lounge.

I was greeted by Benji and he was such a sweet heart. I originally just wanted to talk to him about tattoos and how much it would cost for a certain piece done (my dumb self wanted to get a big wolf tatted on my back for my first tattoo lol.) Benji let me walk around the shop just to get a feel of the place. Well, next think you know I was laying down ready for Benji to ink me up for the very first time. I didn't get the wolf though haha, I just had something simple done for me. It's right above my heart and I can't stop looking at it, love it so much!

It took Benji like three minutes to do my tattoo, quick and painless for me. I can say that Capital Ink has got my heart. :) Benji made my first tattoo experience a wonderful one. I even gave him a hug because I was so pleased with my tattoo. At first, I was a bit nervous, but he calmed me down and made me feel like I was at home in the shop. I will definitely be coming back for more tattoos.

P.S. I got a ticket because my meter expired. So, if you're going there to get a tattoo skip parking at the meters and just go to the garage lol.

My wife and I went over to see the guys at Capital Ink because we wanted to get wedding band tattoos. We had a couple ideas of what we wanted and we got to talking with Ronnie and he gave us his opinion on how our tattoos would look a few years down the road. We wanted small lettering and he said that there is a really good chance that down the road it would just look like blobs. So after some thought we decided to come up with some different ideas and come back. My wife also wanted to get some ink on her foot so Ronnie was able to produce exactly what she wanted. I have a tattoo on the back of my calf that is about 4 years old and I pretty much hate it. I have wanted to get it worked on but have been very hesitant to spend more money on something I was potentially just going to hate more. But Ronnie was super cool and professional and helped me come up with a plan to make it look like I had originally imagined. This is the place to go if you are looking to get some ink.

Greg is and awesome artist. He does new school and old school. Whatever you throw at him he does well.  He takes his time and does it right. The people who think this is expensive, it should be. It's a permanent mark on your body. If you don't wanna pay a little extra money that's your choice but remember you get what you pay for. So you might be able to go somewhere else for cheaper but your work probably won't look as good.

Way over priced in my opinion and stuffy due to it being under ground. Didnt get my tattoo from here!

What can I say about this place that hasn't already been said by other happy customers? Nice lounge, cool staff, stays open really late, Super professional. These guys are really good at what they do and it shows in their work!

I recently went in after finally deciding what I wanted, and Oak greeted me at the door. I showed him my design (which was a Chinese calligraphy but drawn in a cursive style with fine brush strokes), thinking it might cause him problems because normally Chinese calligraphy are not written this way for tattoos, and not to mention that Oak was a white guy doing the work. But he assured me that he can do it and produce the fine brush strokes on the tat as well!

He then scheduled me for the same day appointment at 11pm after my night class to have it done for me. I dropped a $20 deposit which towards the tattoo and came back afterwards.

Long story short, Oak came through big time and I'm really happy he worked on my tat. It came out exactly as my design, and after Oak was done, he told me how to care for it so it healed up nicely without any discoloration.

Interesting side note: Oak was given his name because he was originally from Oakland! So being from Oakland myself, we really got to chop it up about growing up in The Town while I was getting tatted. That definitely earned Oak some extra cool points.

This was my first tattoo experience and it was absolutely perfect!

    1) Make sure you are going to 1021 2nd street!! there is a tattoo parlor a few doors down (1015 2nd street) and those guys were legit assholes. I went in there and they gave me attitude and on top of that, i asked if they were capital ink and the tattooist straight up cut me off and said "have a good day" in a really rude tone. Capital ink is in a basement floor, look out for that!

    2) My tattoo artist was Benji and that guy is a serious angel. I was worried that I didn't put in enough quarters in the meter, so he just gave me $1 worth of quarters. I also went alone, so he talked me through everything, made sure my (simple as fuck) tattoo was absolutely perfect. He would put in his own input and would make suggestions and stuff, which I really appreciated.

    3) Once we got to the room, he made sure I was comfortable, chose a music station that I liked and got to it. He then cleaned everything and told me step by step what he was doing. He was really reassuring and talked to me about random stuff the whole time so that I was distracted. This guy was completely awesome and made the time fly by so fast!

Seriously you guys, if you are getting a tattoo, GET IT HERE! I will probably get a second tattoo at some point and I would definitely only do it here!

I waited a long time to get my first tattoo...always a skeptic and apprehensive about trusting someone to do something permanent to my body. Big Greg sat down with me for about 10m while we looked over concepts and I explained the meaning/significance I wanted from the design. His demeanor and professionalism put me at ease immediately and a week later I came in to get it done.

One of the most impressive displays of motor control I have ever seen or experienced to date. Greg free handed the design on my arm using the natural lines of my body as a guide and I am so very happy I trusted him to create something truly unique and customized to me. After about three hours of tattooing I can say I am already in love with this piece of art and I can't wait to get it finished.

The whole vibe in Capital Ink is really relaxed and friendly and the artists I met seem to genuinely love what they do and won't hesitate to appreciate each others work. Perhaps what is most impressive is just how very clean and sanitary the work stations are - you would think you are at the doctor.

If you are like me and have a hard time trusting people and are waiting for the right professional artist to take your concept and bring their own creativity and experience to the table to create something amazing, this is the place you are looking for.

Blown away and very grateful. Worth every cent for the level of care and attention to detail Big Greg put into this. THANK YOU!

I usually get ink once a year or so these days as I am trying to strategically design and place artwork in a way which will look flattering versus the willy nilly ways of my youth... LOL.

One fine day this past December I had finally decided on a piece for my forearm which was a portrait and had a vague idea of some roses for my wrist but not exactly how I wanted them to lay. Additionally I wanted to get some piercings finally done that I had thought about for the last 10 years or so. I have been to many shops around California, Nevada, Idaho and Utah and have had some awesome work as well as crappy work done, so I have set my standards high when it comes to getting inked. Even though I know folks who run local shops, I do not go to their establishments to get a deal but rather ask friends and read reviews to find the place which does the best work. With a few exceptions my friends and others told me Capital Ink was the place to go.

Upon arriving there I showed the portrait I was wanting done and was told Beau was not in the shop that day, but Benji would handle the roses. After talking to him for a bit a design was decided upon and he went to draw it up.
In the mean time Irish and I went to handle the piercings, a nose and navel one. He was gentle and told me the nose one was going to hurt and the navel was a piece of cake... I think he lied.. LOL. It was the other way around. I did not feel the nose getting done but my navel hurt like a bitch!!

When the piercings were done, Benji and I went to his little office and proceeded to ply my wrist with some ink to create some very amazing old school roses around it. He was very professional and the work was outstanding. I can not wait to have some more discretionary funds laying about to continue my sleeves.

This is probably the BEST place in Sac if you're looking into getting some ink. (Can't comment on piercings since I haven't received that service). Too bad 6 Stars isn't an option!

I had looked into a couple other tattoo shops but would leave feeling like the artist wasn't really listening to what I wanted. Not to mention, they were totally trying to rip me off. When I met with Beau, he knew exactly what I wanted and ASKED me if he could make suggestions (didn't just chime in with what HE thought would look good). I appreciated his honesty and I felt very comfortable after looking at his portfolio and talking with him in person.

The whole atmosphere of the shop is great and everyone was friendly and welcoming. Beau was very professional and asked me several times if everything was 100% up to my standards. I've gotten other tats in the past, but this one was especially important to me because one, it's on my wrist and I see it everyday.  And Two, it's sentimental because I got this tat for my daughter.

It's gorgeous! I couldn't be happier with my tattoo and I get compliments on it almost daily! Beau did AMAZING work. I'll for sure be back for my next and I recommend these guys to anyone I know who's looking to get some ink. Don't get me wrong, Beau isn't the only one. All the guys are extremely talented! Don't settle for anything less than the best when it comes to something permanent on your body. Check them out!

Just like everyone else has just said, I definitely recommend Capital Ink.

    BOOM.

They were just that good.  Period.

I came here to check this place out on Dec. 7th.  I walked in and was instantly greeted by Benji.  We got to talking after introducing ourselves and I showed him what I wanted, where I wanted, and he told me he could definitely do it.  He gave me a ballpark figure, which honestly seemed reasonable.  Since all I had was an idea and a picture of what I wanted it to look like, he said he could draw something up for me based off of my idea and the picture.  My picture was of a tattoo of an eagle that this professional skateboarder Jamie Thomas had posted on instagram and I wanted something like it (no, I didn't get exactly what he had) and Benj knew who Jamie Thomas was and the companies he rode for, so instantly right there, I knew this was the spot to go.  Since I didn't have the cash on me, I had to come in the next day to drop off my deposit to Benj.  Came in on the 10th and I was wearing this Thrasher hoodie and the big boss there, I believe they call him Irish, was stoked on the Thrasher hoodie and gave me props for it.  I knew right then and there that this place knows skateboarding and since I skate, getting my tattoo here just made sense.  Anyways, I gave Benj the cash and we set up an appointment for that Saturday.

Benj was really professional during the whole process.  He texted me a few days after that Monday to show me a picture of what he had drawn up and what he planned to do.  I was STOKED.  I couldn't wait till Saturday.  When Saturday came, I noticed how clean the placed looked behind the front counter.  Benj's station was clean and all his machines and materials were properly organized.  During the whole 4hr session, Benj showed both his professional self and his true self.  With his professional side, he clearly explained the tattooing process, the healing process, and answered all the questions I had.  He took his time while tattooing and whenever he had to use his hands to touch other things, like the ink bottles, changing of needles, adjusting the light, whatever, he would always change his rubber gloves, that's something I thought was only done in hospitals when I interned at one.  He took every precaution necessary.  His true self was that he made the session fun.  He rocked out to the songs that he had playing and the stuff we chatted about were really not for virgin ears.  Hahaha.  When he finished, the piece looked better than I imagined and he ended up charging me less than what he originally quoted me for!  I still gave him a REALLY good tip for the awesome work done.  I couldn't stop staring at it and still can't to this day.  I've been stopped by people who took notice to it so they could tell me they really like it.

I can't speak for the other artists, but I did see two pieces that were done by two other artists and they were also really good.  So, whoever you get hooked up with here I'm sure won't disappoint.  Speaking of the other artists, it really seemed like a close knit group of people that worked here, which made the atmosphere really fun for the customers.  The artists would joke around with each other and they would pop their heads into each other's stations checking out the pieces they're currently working on and shoot jokes at each other.

Aside from the shop itself, parking can be sketchy if you're adamant about trying to park out front on the meters.  I would suggest the parking garage right behind the shop, right underneath the freeway.  I was able to find a spot right behind the shop and for the entire 4hr session, i only ended up paying $4 for parking!  Much better than worrying about the meter running out and having to take breaks from your session to run out and refill your meter.

All in all, Captial Ink is the prime place to go for your tattoo and if you, try and get hooked up with Benj, but if not, the other artists surely won't disappoint.

(my tattoo is the forewarm with the eagle in the pictures)

What a WONDERFUL place!  I will come back here for all my future piercings and possibly tattoos too!  On Sept 16th my friends and I were walking around in Old Sac and I thought it was the perfect time to finally get my dermals!  We walked in and immediately I loved the feel of this place.  Everyone was very warm and super nice! They only do divers not anchors.  I had no idea what was the difference and they explained it in detail.  They only believe in divers and now I am a fan too!  I also have two anchors in my lower back dimples.  I believe the piercer's name is Irish.  I was so nervous!  I laid down and he was super fast!  It didn't hurt at all just a pinch.  He did the most PERFECT placement!  I now have two divers on my collar bone just below my neck.  I LOVE MY BABIES!!!!!!   Safe, clean, warm, PERFECTION!  I WILL DEF BE BACK AGAIN!

I would HIGHLY recommend this tattoo shop to anyone out there debating on where to get theirs done.

It is at a convenient and easy to find location in Old Sacramento. Yes, you go down some flights of stairs underground to get to the shop itself (which is creepy to some people). I myself find it to be pretty neat. I think it's been purposefully built this way in case of crybabies. Afterall, nobody can hear you scream if you're way underground. Puahahahaha!

    Kidding. Calm down.
Rest assure, the bar next door to them is opened late, and there's always a crowd in there so it's not like you'd be completely alone even if you are going by yourself.

I came here 2 months ago on my older brother's birthday to get a gamer tattoo as a way to represent our wonderful childhood together. A couple of friends came along with me. We were greeted warmly by Oak. I had a print out of what I wanted and showed it to him. He went to the back for about a minute, came back and showed me a new print out of the picture I had. He explained to me that if he were going to do the tattoo, it'll have to be blown up a bit bigger. Or else, I should come back the next day for Beau who is apparently better with fine lines and such. I highly appreciated the honesty.

This isn't the kind of shop that is only concerned with taking your money and is willing to toss you to whoever. Each artists here has their own style. And depending on what you are getting, they will recommend you a certain artist. Oak is especially great with old school tattoos.

I didn't want to put it off. I want to make sure that it gets done on my brother's birthday. And since Oak immediately came off as a sweet and respectful person from the get go, I already knew I'd feel comfortable with him being my artist. I asked him for the price of it. And when he answered me, "$140", my Asian side totally kicked in. I started debating if I should go somewhere else that would do it for less. Oak was considerate and left me with my girls for a few minutes to talk it over with them and get some advice. Everyone agreed that it was expensive for a fairly small piece. But then I thought back to the numerous yelp reviews of Capital Ink and was instantly drawn back to this place (thanks guys!).

So, I gave Oak the word. At this point, I was of course, still a bit uneasy. He took the time to explain to me the reason why the price may seem a bit steep. I was getting an 8 bit (video game) tattoo. So even though it may look small and simple, it isn't because each pixels must be colored in correctly. If this didn't make any sense to me at this point, it sure as hell did 20 minutes later when we got started.

I love the set up of this place. My friends and I walked into the *waiting area* with comfy couches, a big television, and even a pool table towards the back. We sat there and chit chat as I sign some of the paper work and waited for Oak.

Finally, we were able to get started on my tattoo! I went with the size he suggested so that it'd be more doable for him. I was originally trying to get it on my inner arm, but way high up so that a shirt sleeve would cover it completely. I explained this to him and let him do the placement. It was definitely not way high up like I've had in mind. BUT IT WAS PERFECTION. He somehow got it just right on the very first try. And he put it at an exact location where it's surprisingly well-hidden.The pattern stamped on my arm looks insane. Now I see why it's more difficult to do than it had looked. There were nothing but boxes covering the inside of the outline of my picture. And he had to fill in each of the box correctly to create the pixelated illusion. It was crazy awesome!!!!

The tattoo took about 1.5 hour for completion with two breaks in between. He made it clear that if I needed a break, just go ahead and say so.
MY TATTOO CAME OUT WAYYYYYY BEAUTIFUL! (picture uploaded)
I was so glad he actually made it bigger than what I initially wanted.
Overall, I had a great experience here. It was all very comfortable. It also helped that the place (and my artist) is okay with me having my girls there in the room with me. Now I'm not suggesting for everyone to bring a crowd here and be of any disturbance, but it's so nice to be able to have your friends or family with you during the process (especially during long ones).

GREAT QUALITY INK. PROFESSIONAL and TALENTED ARTISTS. KICKASS SHOP. Again, I'd highly recommend this place to anyone interested in getting tattooed.

I just went here last week and received a great tattoo from Devon. He was a very nice guy and made me feel very comfortable. My sister in law also got one of her tattoos fix by him and it looked amazing. My tattoo turned out fabulous. He sketched it up for me the night after he did hers and the finished product was great. I would definetly recommend going here and I will definetly be back.

Solid shop, would definitely recommend.  I love that they are so available for walk ins (even though I'm not a walk in kind of guy... I'm a massive planner, plus most of my pieces are large these days).  I was able to take my two Aunts here for two smaller tattoos by two artists, JB and Benj (I think).

JB was pretty quiet, with a very calm nature about him.  He did a script tattoo on my Aunt's wrist.  Did it fast, did it cheap and it looked great.

Benj was a more boisterous fellow with a more colorful vocabulary, which I'm down with.  I felt the price for the piece he was doing was a bit steep, and my cousin (who has a LOT of work done in the last 4 years) agreed.  But it wasn't highway robbery or anything.  He did a great job and does very solid traditional style work.

They have a rad area to wait in, or you can be in the room with you friend as they are getting tattooed.  Neither artist minded that at all and I thought that was cool.  Also, their individual rooms are HUGE.

And there is a coin operated pool table wtf?!!?  Tight.

I think this would be a really good shop for whatever you're looking for... from a large custom piece to your first tattoo with your bff or mom or whatever.  They'll take good care of you here

just moved to sac and wanted to get a tattoo from this city, so i googled the shops in my area, and capital ink had the best reviews. like, ALL the reviews were glowing. so i read on and beau's name kept coming up. i decided to go for it. i chose my design and my husband took me down there to check out the place and schedule a sitting with beau. i told him i picked him because of all the great reviews i read about him. he was flattered and said he wouldn't disappoint me. i believed him. i went in the other day and sat for 5 hours. i didn't take a peek until it was done. when i did, it was stunning. beau is pure talent and genius. and a really nice guy on top of that. and after tomorrow, a newlywed! congratulations beau and jen. what a gorgeous couple you are! i will definitely be going back to him for all the other tattoos i have planned. i can't recommend him enough.

After checking out other shops around , my friend and I chose Capital Ink as the spot to each get our first tat.

We met with Benji, who was super chill and set our minds to ease as far as first time jitters go. He reasonably priced our pieces and was able to immediately tat my friend.
Didn't take long for him to finish my friends tat (her baby's newborn footprint and name on the top of her foot) and it came out fantastic!

I decided to wait on mine but we came
In the next day and he was quick to help.
Benji had me email him the picture I wanted, which was great. I didn't have to go through the trouble of figuring out how/ where to print a pic from my iPhone.

I gave him freedom to creatively edit the sketch I sent him- which was of an alligator. (see pictures) He drew it up for me and damn, He did freaking fantastic. Tatted me up, Colored it  nicely and it came out lookin pretty badass. I love it.
Definitely plan on coming here again.

You cant even see where my old tattoo was:)  The details he added are amazing and the colors are vibrant and perfect.  He from the begining was awesome.. took his time listening to what I wanted as the butterfly was so important to me with the meaning  behind it.  He added his own flair to it and it rocked.. My niece got a tattoo at the same time from JB. SHE LOVES HERS TOO!! This place is simply blessed to have to rad guys like this working here.  Will for sure be back and will send lots of clients your way!! Thanks again Binj and JB:)

If I have to recommend a tattoo shop for my friends I'd definitely recommend Capital Ink.

My friend got a tat here and I loved how everyone was so nice helping her out and creating such a beautiful piece of work on her back. Her tattoo was amazing and it definitely helped me to decide if I wanted to get a tat here or not.

Anyways, I was weighing my options here and over at another place, so when I went to the other place, they definitely were not helpful at all. They didn't make me feel very comfortable at all, they didn't take the time of the day to even ask me any other questions. I came over to Cap Ink and right away I knew I would be going here. I had  Beau as my artist and he actually talked to me about my tattoo and how big or small I should be getting it, where I should be placing it, so forth.

I got a tattoo tribute of my mom's signature on my ribs by Beau, I'm so freaking glad that I chose to come here. I love my tattoo, even though it's small, but it's beautiful because it looks just like my mom's actual signature. Beau was being really great about it, letting me have my freak-out moments and so forth. He did an amazing job and made me feel really comfortable, which I think is one of the most important things when deciding to get a tattoo. If/when I decide to get another tattoo, I'm definitely come back to Beau.. HIGHLY.. SUPER HIGHLY RECOMMEND. He does really well with portraits too if you look at his portfolio. The other artists are great too! Johnny did my friend's brother's tattoo and his was just as amazing as my friends. This place is just really great in general. They're super clean, certified, and thorough.

I already recommended this place to my friend who's planning to get a tattoo soon (:

Good lord, I'm soooo glad I came here for my last tattoo!

I came to Sac to visit family for Thanksgiving, and for the holidays (Black Friday, more specifically), I took my cousin to get tattoos. We both wanted some custom work and could not find ANYWHERE that was open, or would take us on a walk-in basis.

We called Capital Ink, and they told us to come on down, and I'm so glad we did!

I can't for the life of me remember the names of the gentlemen who did our work (I have the memory span of a lightening bolt), but they did a FANTASTIC job.

I got a portrait of Marilyn Monroe with a quote underneath. It only took about 3 hours, and I was only charged $250. I can't even count how many compliments I receive, daily, for how beautiful my piece of art is, I've added a photo to show it off. =]

The guys running the shop were very professional, although the location of the shop seemed, at first, a little sketchy.

I've decided every year, when I go to Sac for the holidays, I'm coming back to see the guys at Capital Ink to add on to my Marilyn tattoo and make it a sleeve.

    Thanks guys!

Went there to get my nipples pierced. Irish was gentle and comforting. Done quick and virtually painless!! After care was explained thoroughly and I felt I was in good hands (pardon the pun) And they look GREAT! If I decide to get more holes put in me, he'll be the one to do it!

I've only had one piercing done here, but the owner/head piercer, Irish, knows what he's doing. He did a re-pierce on an old piercing that had migrated, and was very quick, clean, and professional.
I also had a problem with a labret stud that was bugging my lip, and he correctly identified the problem and helped me choose a new piece of jewelry that was much more comfortable.

The shop can be a little hectic, as there is a strong familial vibe between the artists and their regulars, but if you're looking for a fun place to get some work done and maybe make some fantastic friends while you're at it, i would strongly recommend them.

All the guys at Capital Ink were really great. Right when I came in, I felt welcome. Everyone was very open to talk and it was easy to find someone who was interested in helping me out.

I went with my brother to get matching tattoos of our family crest and we had brought our own custom design. Johnny helped us figure out the best way to make the design work in ink and respected our idea. The crest ended up being a little bigger than planned due to concerns of how it would look in the long run. At first we were a bit apprehensive, but the results blew all of the doubts away. They really know what they're doing and you can tell by how they plan and execute the designs that they really value and appreciate art.

Beau was my artist and he was amazing! He was professional in making sure I was comfortable and he was really a great guy to talk to. He was happy to answer all of my questions and really took the time to make sure I was getting the tattoo I was dreaming of. The moment I saw my finished tattoo, I forgot all about the pain, because it was worth it. I'm definitely telling all my friends who are interested in getting inked to talk to Beau.

Overall it was a very rewarding trip and I'm grateful that the staff at Capital Ink gave me a tattoo to be proud of.

So the news and review ad caught my eye!

I have lots of friends who have been here before but it was my first time in the shop. I had explained to the owner Irish what I wanted beforehand and boom my appointment was set for Wednesday with JB.

This shop is huge, you don't really know what to expect when you walk down the stairs. I mean it is Old Sac. The staff is very friendly and the shop is very clean. I love that their are private rooms.

My tattoo was with JB was awesome. He was so detailed with the color work and very fast. My tattoo is beautiful. Who would've thought I'd call the crypt keeper beautiful? Ha.

I am very pleased with everything and will be back soon! Ride your bike it's an awesome trip and parking is cheap. :)

I got my "ink cherry" popped tonight by non other than Oak.

For almost two years I have wanted a tattoo. I called around to a ton of places, met up with a few artists, but everyone I spoke with were jerks. About a year ago I found Oak's facebook through a friend of mine. He and I started chatting and I told him I was interested in getting ink. I explained my previous experiences and why I have yet to seal the deal. I told him that everyone wanted to charge me $100 for a small dog print tattoo and I thought that was a little on the high side. Considering the size.

After talking about the cost (it was $60, and I tipped him after) I told him I would wait to make sure I was 100% sure on getting the tat.

Finally, tonight I decided what the hell and I went for it. I called him up, reminded him of who I was, and wanted to see if he had any appointments. He was extremely flexible, said I could come in right now, or if I wanted to wait and schedule it for another time he was willing. He also mentioned that if I got nervous on my way there and wanted to reschedule he was totally cool with that. I was impressed. I have talked to a lot of dicks who do tattoos, and they would NEVER say that. Glad he was understanding that its a BIG step for a first timer. Hell, your suck with it. No returns or exchanges. You better make sure your in it for life.

I showed up about an hour or so after talking to him. He was very warm. I sat down on the couch while he drew up what I wanted. I got nervous and started walking around the "family room." I peaked in his room and started talking to him. He put me at ease.

He had me stand while he placed the stencil. He took a picture with his digital camera so I could see better (I couldnt see well becuz it was behind my ear). I then looked in the mirror to make sure I liked it. Laid down, and he did his magic. I was expecting the worst pain of my life and I ended up laughing at myself later. It felt like a little scratch, I wonder why so many people bitch about the pain. Im sure its worse some places more than others.

Afterwords I looked at his work and LOVED IT! I gave him a hug and tried to choke back the tears (it was a remembrance tattoo). I chilled on the couch so I could "bleed out" a lil. Then he bandaged me up and sent me on my way. I was in and out quick. Though, given the small piece I wouldn't expect different.

I love my tat. Great guy and great artist. He took the time to understand me, what I wanted, and why I wanted it. He actually cared. Ill be going back to him for my second. Or third. Or fourth. And I will be making plans to have a drink with him. When you meet him, youll understand why. He is an awesome guy.

I went here with my sister and a friend.  They were both getting tattoos, I was not partaking in the FUN.  *No I did not say "pain", I said fun.

Beau was the artist.  When we went into the shop the week prior, my friend Crystal told him what she was looking for--a portrait of her mother.  I try to be an artist, I love art and I consider anyone who can paint/draw a portrait of a person based on a picture REALLY flipping talented.  Beau tattooed the picture of her mother flawlessly.  It could not have looked better.

My sis got a side piece of three flowers started.  She got the outline and the bottom flower done.  So far it looks awesome.

Beau looks young, but I don't think that means really anything.  Obviously he knows what he is doing.  The next tattoo I get could definitely be from him.  The shop also has a huge TV and couches where you can chill and wait for... whatever.

All of the other employees I met were awesome too.  Cool little joint in stuffy/touristy old sac.

Went in last night, got a beautiful tattoo. The artist name was Oak I beileve and he did a fantastic job. I only waited a short time while he created a piece. It came out perfect and it was exactly what I wanted.

I got a very traditional looking owl with a ruby as a tribute piece and I couldn't be more happy with the art and the service of the staff. It was very laided back but at the same time everyone seemed really professional.

I would recommend Oak to anyone looking for a traditional piece. He was quick and made the whole process pretty painless.

    Thanks.

So I am not really sure how to review a tattoo place. It's not like they have a menu and I can taste a little of everything. I don't know if I should give 5 stars because I am talking about an experience with one person, not the shop as a whole.

    Anywho..

So I have a friend that is covered in tattoos. I was telling him I wanted a new tattoo and he gave me the number of his friend that did some of his.

I called and spoke with Nick. Told him what I wanted, and since I saw his work in my friend I felt fairly certain that I could trust him to come up with something I liked.

Almost a month later I went to Capital Ink to see what he designed. I wanted a Claddagh, and what he came up with was perfect. It was an old school design with just red and black. Not too flashy, and definitely not trashy. I have an image to protect, ya know.

He asked whether or not I wanted to add or delete anything. I thought it was perfect the way it was. I told him where I wanted it, and he pretty much said hell no. Something about pain and whatnot. It's not like I have a lot of experience with tattoos, this was just my second.. but from a lot of stories I hear... there are certain tattoo artists that will just let you put whatever wherever. I felt like this guy was actually looking out for me. Not to mention he was very nice.

I chose the back of my arm. It took several hours. The pain made me want to cry. He let me take a break, which was nice. Otherwise I think I would have died.

Fast forward almost a year later and I still get compliments on it at least once a week. I even have people stop me and ask to check it out. Recovery took a little over a week, and was completely painless.

If I ever get another tattoo, this guy is doing it whether he likes it or not. I don't even know if he still has a space here, and if he doesn't I will hunt him down.

I've never gotten a tattoo, but I have been to Capital Ink a couple times with friends who were. The tattoo artists that worked with the people I knew were very nice and talented, however I've seen some of the other tattoo artists and they scare me a bit. This place is relatively tame when it comes to tattoo parlors. I spent most of my time here in the lobby (which has a bunch of artist portfolios and flash art) and what I guess I could call the sitting area. It consists of a comfy couch and some chairs, and there is a big TV that usually plays Discovery Channel or something like that. I felt very comfortable here compared to other places, and I will probably end up coming here for my first tattoo.

Came here yesterday with my friend to get my rook piercing, and she got her industrial. Thursdays are 2 for 1 piercings! Awesome deal...it was $60 for both piercings. I don't know his name, but the piercer guy was pretty nice. My friend had gone in before and her experience wasn't as nice...he was rude or something, but he wasn't rude this time! Maybe because we were actually getting pierced? He was helpful and very friendly. I would definitely come back here for more piercings, especially with this deal they have going on.

Terry Guajardo...awsome artist!!!! I have shopped around allot with my 3 tattoos but most places were filled with big headed, snotty, tattoo artist who act like there shit don't stink!  Everytime I visit Capital Ink, I'm greeted by the most friendly artist who always make me feel welcome and are more than happy to answer any questions I may have.

Terry Guajardo has done my two latest pieces which I loved so much that I refered my boyfriend, my dad, clients of mine and many other friends to him. When it comes to getting a tattoo  its important to have a connection with your tattoo artist or you leave feeling like you get the full expierience. Who wants to leave a tattoo shop after getting a tattoo by a guy that didnt even talk to you...okward!! With Terry, you always feel comftorable and leave feeling like you made a cool friend whos artwork will be on your body to show forever! Gosh!!! Now I'm itch'n for a new tattoo!!!!! See yha soon Terry!!!

For the most part, this place is awesome.  People are really nice, the work is high quality.  There's this one guy though, and holy crap.  It's so obvious that he just either doesn't like people or he doesn't like his job.  He really does seem nice enough, he just hasn't figured out how to tell people they're wrong or making a mistake without also telling them they are the biggest moron he's ever met.  When I was first shopping for tattoos, he completely shut down my idea, gave me no alternatives, told me I was a fool, and walked away.  Someone else had to come in and save what could have been his sale and the only reason my friend and I didn't walk out immediately was because she had gotten her snakebites there and knew most of the others that worked there.

He's not the entire business though.  I've gotten a labret there, I plan to go there for my tattoo, and the people are generally amazing.  The tattoo artists really want to work with you in making something amazing, even the piercing apprentice whose only been there about a year (and did my labret) really knows what she's doing.  So, if you can take sifting through a bad mood or two to find an amazing artist, do so.
