Review Source:I found Doris through a Groupon almost a year ago and have never gone to anyone else after my experience with her. People think it's easy to cut Men's hair but to Doris, all hair takes equal time and effort.
She gives you high fashion hair at incredibly reasonable prices. I honestly think she could charge double and get away with it -- she's that good!
It is helpful to her if you bring a picture of a hairstyle you want and show her a 360. She takes a moment to process it and replicates it exactly. You can always feel safe explaining to her your desires and concerns.
My hair is especially think and puffy. Most hairdressers don't seem to know how to manage it. Doris knows every hair type under the sun and will give you the look that you want. Shoot her a text and test out a haircut. You won't be sorry.

Went to Doris for a much overdo haircut and had one of the best experiences. Â Doris listened to my limited description of what I wanted (I had a general idea but didn't have a specific picture in mind) Â I left with one of the best cuts I've had and happy to say still loving my cut after a week of having to style my hair myself. Doris also provided tips for how to maintain the salon look after I got home. Â I highly recommend Doris - she is professional, very skilled, and is no nonsense - no trying to sell you products etc. Â Can't wait to go back!

Doris is amaaazing. She's super professional and friendly--she has it all. Â Before meeting Doris, I have always been soft-spoken when it came to getting my hair done. It's really hard to be this way with Doris because she is just THAT great. You can really tell that she's passionate about what she does, and she also makes you feel extremely comfortable, never awkward. I've had really mediocre customer service with past hairdressers, but Doris definitely takes the cake with this one. I went to her after having a year of bad hair days with managing my baby fine and damaged hair.  She gave me a great haircut after talking through what i am looking for and she gave me advise on how to care for my hair type. Review Source:I purchased a deal from Groupon, and must have called her 25 times, including leaving 2 voicemails, and even sent her a text message. She never answered or responded so I could make an appointment.
Eventually I just drove to the salon and found her there, trying to get a hair appointment. She was very rude and told me she doesn't have to answer her phone if she doesn't feel like it, or take new clients if she doesn't want to. Â I explained I purchased a Groupon, and she essentially refused to honor it.
I had to call groupon to get my money refunded. Not sure what on Earth happened, she seemed to have good reviews, but I was shocked at how unprofessional my experience was.
There are too many good hairstylists to deal with someone who blows you off, and is completely rude and unprofessional! Â I never write bad reviews but I didn't want someone else to purchase a (suspiciously cheap) deal and get blown off!
This is my first Yelp review because Doris is that amazing, I NEED to let people know! I went in for highlights and a cut and while I was really happy with the results, I had no idea the amout of complements I would recieve over the next two weeks. The color of the highlights and layer length I left up to Doris and those are things people constantly tell me they love. If you want an AMAZING color or cut, do yourself a favor - Run to Doris!
Review Source:Doris is so sweet! She rents a station at XS Salon and Spa in Sherman Oaks. I found her through groupon and I have been going to her since! I love her because you get what you ask for. She was right on the dot when I showed her a picture of a style I wanted. She also was spot on when coloring my hair. I'm not used to paying salon prices for hair cuts and color, I used to go to Supercuts, but I don't mind splurging when I know I will get the results I want. The last visit I had I was suprised my color was $65! I don't know if that's standard rate but I was shocked at the price. I need to ask for prices next time I go just to make sure I have the funds for it or hopefully Doris is so kind she can work something out with me.
Review Source:I stumbled upon Doris via Groupon. Â It had been 7 months since my last haircut, and my hair was in need of a haircut. Â Ever since I moved to LA two years I had been looking for a stylist that I could trust and come back to. Â And I think I've finally found her!
Doris is amazing. Â She sat me down and discussed with me what I wanted out of my haircut. Â She talked to me, but not in a fake or forced way. Â When she cut my bangs she was sure to cut at a "safe" length and asked if I wanted to cut them shorter. Â When she was done I was absolutely in love with my new haircut. Â (My previous hair cut sucked, as my person who previously cut my hair left a HUGE gap in one of the "layers" she cut.)
You can tell Doris just loves her job and genuinely cares about her clients and this love is a clear reflection of her work. Â Her prices are reasonable, especially for LA.
There is parking in the back of the salon.
This review has been long overdue maybe about 4 months now and I gotta say that doris did an absolute great job. She was very attentive and really easy to talk to about different styles and gives tips on do's. I went out on a limb and bought a groupon to give her a chance and am very happy I did :) aside from everything else that she does. She also does eyebrow waxing and permanent makeup which I'm quite curious about.. So we'll see.
Review Source:I feel really lucky to have found Doris. My husband found her about 6 months ago through a Groupon and she gave him the best hair cut of his life. He has longer, thicker hair and she cut layers into it and gave his hair a lot of body and shine. He took her in a photo of Jake Gyllenhaal from the Prince of Persia and she duplicated it perfectly.
I have short hair and I wanted to dye it jet black. She is a great colorists and her hair cut was flawless. If you show her a photo she will make it happen. I have seen Doris twice now and I have never been happier with my hair. Doris really listens to what you want and is open to new ideas. I had a new idea of what I wanted this second time and she saw the photo and duplicated it. I have never met someone who could really duplicate photos like she can. Her skill level is top notch.
She isn't afraid to try new things, which is great for someone like me who always wants to try new things with my hair.
Doris has a very warm personality and is fun to talk to. Her prices are very reasonable too.
The salon is very nice too. Lots of open space and natural light and very clean. Street parking has not been a problem for me.
I definitely recommend Doris. She can handle any hair cut and color.
Doris is absolutely awesome! I came to see her on a fluke when I bought her Groupon. I did the research and saw other reviews she had on Yelp were pretty much all great and they were right. She took her time figuring out exactly why I had left my previous hair dresser, figuring out the style that would look best on me, and then getting my hair to lay completely straight with her amazing flat iron, which I later purchased on amazon. She is definitely a gem! My hair looked healthy and fabulous, exactly what I needed :)

Finally, I have found someone who observes the photos you bring her and truly LISTENS! She tries her darnedest to give you what you want. Alongside her 30 years of expertise, she knows all the trends. She knows her shiznit! She is an absolute bombshell and she is so sweet ta' boot! Her prices are very reasonable and negotiable. She obviously wants to stay busy and keep her clients happy.
My girlfriend has been cutting and coloring my hair for 20 years... Since I've moved, I haven't found anyone to take her place until now! Doris is so easy to talk to. You feel like you've visiting a girlfriend.
Personally, I don't need an upscale experience when I get my hair done. "No, I'm not going to some Hollywood Club after this...blah, blah, blah" (I've gotten fab hairstyles out of my ex-girl's basement with my head sunk in her kitchen sink). I don't want to (and can't afford to!) pay $75++ for a cut (no blow dry?) simply because, the 'Hairdresser" is an 'ARTIST' that has an 'Assistant' that holds the Bleach Bowl and offers me champagne and herbal tea. I just want an affordable, good hair dresser/stylist (whatever) who takes pride and humility in their work. Someone who has the chops (no pun intended) to execute or speak up if its not obtainable. Doris completely transformed me, gave me exactly what I wanted, reassured me and answered all of my questions when I thought things were starting to go Left.
Also, it's quite OK that the salon she rents her station from (forgot the name of it), isn't surrounded with high end furniture and a polished receptionist or a well dressed shampoo girl. The walls of this Sherman Oaks Salon are an ugly Hospital Blue color and the Stations are a bit 80's looking. Yet, everything is clean and in excellent condition. I would dock a star if I were reviewing the Salon because, parking is a small pain, but this isn't a salon review.

This review is long overdue! I just realized this morning that I am in need of a hair cut. Then, of course, I thought of Doris and how fantastic she was when I first visited her 3 months ago! It was just before the holidays, and I was nervous about trying out a new salon. But I was leaving for vacation the next day, so I was desperate. Doris was able to squeeze me in! I was more than satisfied; Doris is just lovely! She communicated very well with me regarding the cuts (I have long hair and didn't want to go too short!) and suggestions (bangs, styling, etc.). She was wonderful! I look forward to seeing her again very soon!

I went to Doris with lap top in hand full of photos as i wasn't sure how I wanted my hair cut and styled. She helped me find what would look best with my face. Â She cut it exactly like the photo! Amazing job. She took the time to get to know me, what I wanted and told me she wanted me to be happy.
I had a bit of difficultly doing the same style once I got home and called her asking for help. Â She had me come back in and true to her word showed me how to do what she did and said if I need to come back she wanted me to be happy.
No she didn't charge me for the blow dry to get the look I had from the first time she cut my hair.

I found Doris on YELP...she was able to get me in same day and I received a wonderful service from her. Â She is very affordable, and gave me a wash, trim, dry, and full head curl for a very reasonable price. I was very happy with her services and was so glad I shopped around before finding a stylist. I will definitely be referring her to friends, and revisiting her myself.
