Sorry this review is coming late. But I guess better late then never lol.
JT did my tattoo and it is by far my favorite piece of art. I decided to get something that would represent my marriage and dedicate it to my husband. I had somewhat of an idea of what I wanted and I am so happy that I got a consult withJT before going through with my idea. He was very nice, very honest and up front. He told me what I needed to know and not what I wanted to hear. He could've went with my idea and made some money and sent me on my way but instead he told me how what I wanted was a nice idea and that everyone and their mom has the same tat. After hearing that I immediately was turned off by my idea because I wanted something that was my own... something for me and my husband. Even though I wanted to get tatted that day he suggested that I put some deep thought into what really means a lot to me and my hubby and come back with some designs and ideas and go from there. I came back the following week with ideas and designs and let him use his creativity to do the rest. He took the designs I gave him and totally transformed my ideas into an amazingly beautiful piece of art! It was exactly what I wanted and then some.
Will definitely be going back to JT! It's also a plus that everyone there is super friendly and totally down to earth. Woohoo for INKIES!!
Want a tattoo? Gonzoe is your man!
I came here for the first time back in August of this year to get a quote done. With no appointment, I was consulted with, set to get tatted, and tatted within less than two hours. I was very satisfied with my tattoo.
Today I came back to get roots added to a tree that I had done at a different studio. The guy that previously did my tat rushed my tat, and so it started fading. Gonzoe had a thorough talk with me about my tattoo and asked which routes I would like to take before starting the needlework on me. Gonzoe did an amazing job at bringing my once faded tree, back to life. I'll be coming back to get my roots done at a later time because the trunk shading was too much to bare. You definitely get what you pay for!
The workers are friendly and treat you like family. There's no worries about sanitation because they Saran Wrap everything before you get tatted. Enjoy some classic jams in the background while you get tatted!
Walk-ins are first come, first served basis. Or just make an appointment ahead.
The only place for all your tattoo needs and getting pierced!!!!!!! The inside is so clean and crazy cool with all the artwork and beautiful the way they have there store laid out! Rob the owner is extremely nice and dose so much for the community! I took my daughter and my cousin and myself in too get pierced by Sin and he is so nice and makes you feel extremely safe and has breathing techniques that calm you and make it so you don't feel the pain and that was so great for my daughter because she was nervous but as soon as Sin started to talk she was calm and it was a peaceful experience for all of us! I want to thank all the staff for all your hard work and how beautiful and extremely cool your tats are you all are so talented and if you have seen the show LA ink well I think Inkies Tattoo Studio should be on TV as a show like LA ink because they are so good and the crew is just the best, it would be a great show!!
100% #1 place for all your tattooing and piercing needs!
Came into Inkies the other day to get some new dermals. The staff was very friendly and shop is super nice & clean! The piercer Sin is awesome! He really takes his time and is very professional. Even though I've had many piercings already I was a little nervous but sin helped me to relax. I will definitely return & recommend this place to everyone!
Review Source:This place's Yelp rating speaks for itself, and the fact that they have such great customer loyalty affirms their great work. Â I've had a hip tatt done here (by Coach, who has now left -- but the remaining artists are great too!) and a helix piercing by Sin. The place is clean, and the staff are friendly and EXCELLENT at what they do. Â Definitely worth the drive and the slightly higher cost than other tattoo places.
Review Source:I came in for a navel piercing with my friends, and Sin was so nice about everything and made sure I was comfortable before he did anything. He made small talk which put us all at ease, and yet was still so professional about it! Two of my friends didn't know if they wanted piercings or not, and Sin was nice enough to tell them that it would look great and persuaded them to, but at the same time said "No pressure" and "it's your choice". In the end, we all got pierced and had fun during it thanks to Sin! He did a great job. Everything was very clean and the staff is so friendly and welcoming; I definitely recommend coming here!
Review Source:Definitely high end legit tattoo joint. By far the best in the area. If you want custom work and talented artists with significant experience and are willing to pay this is the right place. Very fresh and clean atmosphere and artist take excellent precautions to keep artist area disinfected.
Gonzoe was my artist and he was honest and straightforward. The artwork exceeded my expectations! Very happy and will return.
$50 deposit plus an additional $100 for the remainder of the cost, and I got to leave with my brand new tattoo! They charge $150 per hour and Wyatt spent 1.5 hours sketching/consulting plus another hour putting in work on my body.. Trust me when I say that the price is worth it and tattoos are one thing that you don't want to price shop for.. Cheap tattoos are just that, CHEAP tattoos!
Wyatt used the "painless needles" as we had discussed and everything went really well! He even made sure to put "every day" as one word and the word "booty" instead of "beauty" :P All jokes aside, the whole process was very smooth and getting tatted on my ribs was only 20% of the pain that I thought it would be.. Wyatt's humor made the time go by fast and they play some catchy jams in the background to keep your mind occupied while they stab you hundreds of times with needles [: It was nice having a TV there to watch too because I needed something to focus on aside from the scratch of the pins jabbing me in between my ribs..
Before the day of my appointment Wyatt spent time sending me sketches through text to get the general idea of the script I was looking for and he kept everything 100% professional.. You can tell that he really cares about his artistry and wants to give you a piece that leaves you beaming with happiness.. The shop owner (Robert) plays an active part in his business and you can tell he takes pride in the work his guys do.. The shop manager (Lester) is also very courteous and easy to communicate with.. He has a sick tattoo of the golden gate bridge on his arm with some dermals at the top too (be sure to check it out!).. All in all I'm very pleased with the work Wyatt did as well as the awesome customer service provided by the whole staff.. Even if you aren't their client they all make sure to recognize your presence and let you know that they appreciate your business.. Or maybe they were just being nice because I brought cookies/muffins in for them :P Who knows! Jk..
Next time I get another tattoo (and yes, there WILL be a next time!) I'm definitely coming to Inkies!! I love this place and these guys.. My new permanent shop for body art [: Check out the pictures I posted on their business page, there's 2 for your viewing pleasure..
I got my AC/DC tattoo here(yes my First tattoo) and price is very reasonable. Artists inside are very helpful and friendly. Place inside is clean and with music. Ganzoe, the artist, is very cool and gave me suggestions about colors and tattoo style. Most importantly, these guys do not make tattoos until they are new designs.
Review Source:I came here in 2011 with a sketch and requested Oliver to do my tattoo. Oliver did an amazing job adding more details to the sketch I drew, however, after the completion of my tattoo I noticed a minor mistake. It's not very noticeable at a quick glance, but to someone who's very attentive to details, its bothers me.
The tattooing process with Oliver was very enjoyable. He talks to you and makes sure you're okay throughout the entire process. Definitely a talented individual.
Despite the mistake I would still recommend him and this place for tattoos.
I never thought I would get a tattoo but once I decided to I heard that Inkies in Fremont is the place to go. I was apprehensive, fearful of the pain however I met Jake and he took my concerns away. Not nearly as painful as I expected, it was fast, clean & I was confident that I had made the right decision. Thanks Jake for a good experience, I may be back for another one!
Review Source:Inkies is absolutely amazing. The first time I got a tattoo there, they treated me so well! They even gave me Oreo's while I was getting tattooed! Such friendly and family oriented people. They definitely make you feel super comfortable about your choice to get tattooed and make your experience comfortable. I have gone to Oliver for 3 small tattoo's there. He is such a genuine person and I definitely believe he will be a life long friend. I also feel like the owner, Robert, knows me personally, even if he really doesn't, I'm not sure. But he definitely makes me feel welcome as well. Sin did my tragus piercing and he is seriously the coolest guy ever. If you ever want a tattoo or piercing, you HAVE to go to Inkies, you definitely  wont regret it!!
Review Source:I went here to get my first tattoo on friday, and I was amazed at how kind and simple the process was. With every other tattoo place I have seen, it always looks dark or uninviting. Once you walk in, the first thing that you see is how bright and clean the place is. You are then welcomed and asked what you need, and are squared away with an artist to bring your design to life. I had the fortunate opportunity to have Jake as my artist, and he brought my text to life on my arm. No problems involved, very simple, and a wonderful and clean place.
The biggest gripe is that the prices are a bit high, but overall it is worth it.
I can't say enough wonderful things about Inkies, the staff, and especially my tattoo artist, Ivan. Â As many other reviewers have posted, the studio is clean, spacious, and inviting. Â There is always someone at the front desk to offer a warm welcome and attend to your needs. Â
Ivan may be one of the newer artists at Inkies, but he has been tattooing for over 15 years, and his expertise is undeniable. Â He spent a lot of time sketching out ideas for my piece, and he asked thoughtful, specific questions about what I wanted. Â He clearly understands how personal a tattoo is to each client, and he's able to balance the client's vision with his own artistic ideas. Â
I was nervous about getting my first tattoo, but from the moment I walked into the studio, the staff made me feel at ease. Â It didn't take long for Ivan to show me a sketch that was an exact match to what I was imagining, and once he got to work, we fell into an easy conversation. Â Along the way, he stopped several times to take a picture and show me the progress of the tattoo; I loved seeing the piece take form, and I appreciated being actively included in the process. Â
When I finally got to see his finished product, I was blown away. Â This tattoo is very personal and important to me, and Ivan brought to life the story and meaning that it holds for me. Â His talent is exquisite, and because of his friendly and genuine approach, I enjoyed every moment of the process.
First off I just want to say thank you guys for everything. Josh, Lester, Tony, and Oliver we're very professional and made me feel at home. With this being my first tattoo did not disappoint, I felt at ease with picking my Artist "josh". This place is very clean and spacious. Â I would highly recommend getting some work done thanks again guys,
Review Source:Just got my 4yr olds ears pierced by Sin Hua!
I found Inky's on yelp when looking for a place to get my 4 year old twins ears pierced. Â I called ahead to make an appointment and got to speak to the person that would be doing the piercing, Sin Hua. Â He was very thorough in making sure I wanted to get this done now and educating me on the limitations - for example, it is July - prime time for swimming and they would not be able to swim for a month after.
Once we got there, we signed release forms and $40 included the piercing and earrings. Sin Hua had an incredible gentle manner with my girls and made them feel at ease - as much as he could under the circumstances. Â He was a perfectionist and very precise in making sure the holes were centered and matched precisely - HE MEASURED THEM! Â Everything was done using disposable items or those that could be sterilized. Â The earrings were surgical steel and have flat backs so they don't hurt my girls when they sleep.
He instructed on after care which was contrary to everything I learned when I got mine done. Â No harsh chemicals - cleaning with saline and no need to turn the earrings which saved my girls unnecessary pain. Â We are two weeks after and all 4 ears are doing great with no inflammation or infection. Â I highly recommend Sin Hua at Inky's for ear piercings for toddlers.
In fairness, I wanted to add this update one day later. Â Got a call from the shop with an apology over the confusion and they asked me to come by and pick up the refund on the $100 gift certificate. Â Couldn't be happier that I got this call because it redeems my faith in these guys looking out for return business. Â Thanks for the call and the clarification guys!
I'd really love to give more stars, but just can't. Â And don't get me wrong, I've always thought of this shop as a great place, nice folks, very approachable. Â I won't pretend I'm a super star or a special client of theirs, but I like to think some of those guys in there recognize me when I walk in. Â That was always a plus of this shop, the hospitable fashion with which they do business. Â I have had work done both at the old and new locations. Â In fact, I think my wife and I have been enablers to one another the last few years and Inkies has been a great benefactor of our collective business. Â But today, that's where my problem began. Â
If you have or have had art put on your body, you probably also know the importance of a relationship with your artist. Â You learn their style, trust their vision and they also understand you and can translate your ideas into visual proof on your body. Â I've been in the process of having a piece compiled on my forearm by an artist who recently left Inkies. Â As an employee of Inkies, he's applied three (what I would consider) decent sized pieces on me and needless to say I love them and have raved and referred friends to him and the shop. Â My dilemma is that his most recent work is as yet uncompleted and I have an open credit of $100 (it was a gift certificate from my wife) sitting there waiting to be used at the shop. Â But now this artist has left their shop for another location. Â I thought that I would be able to go in and get it refunded so that I could use it to have this artist be able to finish this piece. Â I was denied, told that the certificate is nonrefundable and could only be used at the shop and will be waiting for me there for as long as I want it to sit there. Â
Now I know saying that my wife and I combined have spent over $1,500 in this shop may not impress many, but to her and I this is a large sum and what we felt was a great way to also support local business. Â But now, not being able to get that refund back and have the artist who started this project be able to finish it has left me soured on this shop. Â So much so, I'd rather lose that $100. Â Or maybe I do use it and get a piece that reads "This was nonrefundable" in a nice cursive script.
CASH ONLY, so make sure you have enough money before coming here. There is also an ATM available inside, and a Wells Fargo nearby as well. My cousin came in to pierce her rook/upper part of the ear ($50) over the weekend, and I went along with her. The staff was really nice and professional, and they seemed very knowledgeable. It wasn't very crowded around 4pm on a Sunday, and we were able to get in and out in less than 20 minutes. I think Elise was her piercer, and she was very thorough in explaining the process, and also the follow up care that was needed. If I ever decide to add more piercings or get a tattoo, I will definitely choose Inkies! I loved how clean and well lit it was inside, and they play some good old school music. There is a parking lot in the back of the store with plenty of free spots as well.
Review Source:I had two anchors put in here, and they were well done. Â The piercer was sure that they would be centered even with different movements of my body, and they ended up placed perfectly. Â They healed well, and lasted 2 years until I snagged one and then eventually just took them both out. Â I ran into the piercer at the Arts and Wine festival while I had one out, and he was very helpful about how to care for it, and offered to re-pierce for me. Â I have seen some great tattoo work from Inkies, and I would be comfortable getting a tattoo here if I got the urge. Â The atmosphere is great, and very clean. Â They seem well organized.
Review Source:Tattoo artist: Josh
I returned from taking a six month medical leave and started taking martial arts as a way to help me regain my strength. I wanted something to symbolize my newfound passion, along with a new beginning that my treatment has provided me. Josh did an outstanding job of suggesting the right colors and making sure that I got one of the best tattoos. The other students are gonna be jealous. Very relaxed atmosphere with good music and good vibes. This is the place to go if you want bomb work done and if you can, see this artist and check out his portfolio.
I just moved down to the South Bay a couple of months ago. I spent a lot of time online looking for a place to get some ink done and Inkies was definitely the one! Great customer service, nice clean set up, and have awesome artists. I love my Filipina pin up girl that Adrian did for me. Definitely going back for more.
Review Source:A very clean and friendly establishment. You will have many great artists to choose from. Hit my man Oliver for custom pieces, he is currently working on my full arm sleeve. He is cool as hell and very open to suggestions and extremely creative. No words can sum up my experience there, you will have to check it out yourself. You will not be disappointed!
Review Source:After reading rave reviews about this place, I came in on a Saturday to get my tragus pierced by Sin. This studio definitely deserves every 5 stars it gets--the place is spacious, clean, and as soon as you walk in, you're in love! The place has a homey feeling to it on its own and the staff there make it even better. Sin is honestly the best. He was very knowledgeable about the piercing, telling me what he was doing and why he was doing it every step of the way. His breathing technique helped me feel at ease and made the whole piercing process such a breeze. By the end of it I was so calm that I almost didn't want to leave! The piercing was a very reasonable price and I would have been willing to pay double just for the amazing service! In love with my new piercing.
Very cool guy and awesome place. If I ever decide to get anything else done in the future, I will definitely be back but in the mean time I will recommend all my friends and family here.
If you're looking for a great place with an amazing staff to get a tattoo or piercing, definitely check out Inkies!
I got my nostril pierced here on new year's eve. It was my first time at inkie's and i loooved the atmosphere. It was clear, bright, and everyone there was friendly. I had read before on yelp how everyone recommended Sin, but when I went only Kat was there.
She made me feel very calm and not nervous, which really helped me. Plus, she described step-by-step what she would do and WHY. Definitely coming back here if I decide to get more stuff done. Check out this place :D
I've been looking for a place and an artist to do my tattoo, but had no luck. A couple of my friends recommended Inkies. So, after lunch I looked them up and saw they were open 7 days a week. (score!)
I called them up and mentioned I would walk in. I met Matt, showed him a picture of my inspiration and he drew it up. I didn't know what I really wanted script or handwriting. I knew I didn't want anything too fancy. I wanted it simple and dainty. I also left the size up to him.
I'm really glad that I chose to come to Inkies. I do recommend coming here because everyone is pretty chill, friendly, and professional. I've been looking for a spot that is clean and professional.
I am exceptionally happy with my tattoo. The size, writing, and placement. Cheers to the first of many!
Tattoo artist: Henry Wyatt
I've had 2 sessions so far and since my next session is not for another month i thought I'd take the time to write my review now.
It has been almost 10 years since I got my last tattoo. i go through my moments on whether or not to get another piece and about 2 months ago had a sudden urge to get a piece that covers half my back.
I came to Inkies with my brother-in-law one evening so he could make an appointment to add on to his piece and I was immediately impressed with the place, the music, the vibe, the people. The staff are all very friendly and the place is very clean.
i started browsing through the different artists' work and they certainly have very talented artists and was very difficult to choose. One artist's work caught my eye based on what I wanted and he happened to be available that evening for a consult. I immediately made an appointment with Henry Wyatt. He made it really easy and I just sent him some of my ideas of what I was looking for through email and communicated with him through text until I saw him 2 weeks later.
Ink is permanent so trusting your artist is #1. I immediately felt very comfortable and trusted Wyatt 100% that he was going to give me a great piece of art on my back. I was completely zoned out on my first session and the entire afternoon just flew past me. If it wasn't for another appointment he had I would have stayed there until closing. I think the most difficult part after my 1st session was waiting 3 weeks for my next session. Wyatt was awesome, he even followed up with me to check how my back was healing. You can tell immediately that he takes pride in what he does.
After my second session, half my back turned into 3/4 of my back and I'm already thinking of another piece to just completely fill my back. Having the right artist and great experience will definitely keep the ink addiction going!
After I spoke with the manager regarding the unsatisfactory experience I had noted in my previous review, I am happy to give Inkies the five star rating they've always deserved. Inkies strives for the best in every aspect of  business. They are an excellent model of extraordinary service and quality art work.
Review Source:Inkies is amazing!!!
I got tattoo-deflowered here by Josh (Kahu) and currently getting my second tattoo here by Coach. I already have ideas for #3, #4 and #5 that I have decided which artist is going to do. Every artist here has a specialty and is amazing at what they do.
The owner, Rob, has really kept this running like a family. All the artists bond quite well with each other, and that happy environment helps when they do our tattoos. Cleanliness and safety is very well take care, and the artists explain the aftercare instructions quite well.
And their new Irvington studio is awesome. I won't be surprised if they shot 'Bay Area Ink' here at Inkies. I can bet money and recommend people here. Seen no tattoo shop better than this...
Got a Harry Potter piece done on my inner arm yesterday by Coach. The whole environment at Inkies is super chill and everyone is so friendly and nice. Seriously, I had a great time, and my new tattoo is super sick. I am so happy with it. Inkies is a place that most definitely lives up to your expectations and even goes beyond that.
GUYS, IF YOU'RE READING THIS, THANK YOU, I'LL BE COMING BACK!
Stopped in to grab a gift certificate for a Christmas gift. Haven't been in the new location since they moved. Place looks great. I have taken my daughter to get her belly button and ear pierced. Kat and Sin took great care of my daughter and explained in detail to her what she needed to do to take care of her piercings.
I can't wait to get some ink here.
I went here with my friend a couple weeks ago to accompany her while she got her first tattoo. I'm not sure who her artist was, but he was very friendly and funny and even lowered the price on her tattoo because it was her first one and she had just turned 18. The whole staff is very welcoming and engaging.
Then a week ago, I went to get my nostrils pierced. A wee bit pricey but totally worth it. The area was very sterile and so was all the equipment. The piercer was very sweet and very detail oriented which I appreciated. Always good to have someone be extensive about their work. The piercings hardly even hurt and she said it would take 2 months, but they practically feel better already! My friend had also said her tattoo didn't hurt and it was barely even sore afterwards.
Inkies is local and perfect. Coming back for anything tattoo or piercing related for the rest of my life.
I just got my nose pierced by Cat (hopefully I spelled that right). She was super friendly and professional. She described every step of the process, and even though I have had lots of piercings done before I really appreciated it. She made me feel at ease and comfortable the whole time. A friend came with me and Cat made her welcome as well. The staff member (Lester?) Who helped me at the front desk was also really nice. I highly recommend Cat and Inkies!
Review Source:I got my butterfly tattoo done by Adrian a week ago. Adrian is very knowledgeable and gave me his honest opinions of where and how big I should get my tattoo. He has a very light hand and I didn't feel any pain while getting my tatt done. My monarch butterfly came out beautiful and I will be coming back.
The owner, Robert, is a really nice and cool guy to talk to. His staff is friendly and the service is great. Â If you haven't done so already, it's definitely a place worth checking out!
This review is wayyyyy overdue yet wayyyy DESERVED!!!
Tattoo Artist: Tony Ancheta
My friend Ricky recommended this place to me about two years ago. His artist was Oliver but when I first came in there, let me tell you how friendly they are!!! respectfully friendly!! all the artists there, including their piercer, Sin are very warm and welcoming. I have many tattoos from different artists and most of the shops I visited around the bay and San Diego were rude and straight to the point, money hungry!
When I sat down to consult with Tony, I told him exactly what I wanted, what I didn't want and he also put in his thoughts. My first tattoo with him was Cherry Blossoms on my ribs. He gave me very accurate information on his client's reactions to rib tats, how it would look, what he recommended on size, and color schemes. I originally wanted no color but his input was worth it, I loved the drawing and almost 5 hours later, my tattoo was done!!! The detail, color, and size was jaw dropping. I cannot believe for more than 10 years, I have been getting work done elsewhere!!! A week after my Cherry Blossoms, my boyfriend got a huge tribal piece on his arm, he was also very happy with Tony's work.
I came back for him to "fix" Â my dragon on my back that I got 12 years ago. Because the tattoo was old, the ink was not going great if he was to add more detail to the dragon. Again, he recommended a cover up to go with my theme. I came home with a beautiful tribal piece and NO ONE not even my family can tell there was a dragon there! A week later, he re detailed my Phoenix on my hip (yes tattoos are addicting) and I was more than impressed, my Phoenix has beautiful flowing feathers now!!
Finally, after months of not seeing him, I have been wanting a huge tribal piece on the other side of my ribs. Again saw Tony, amazing job done!!! Still planning to add more detail.
The reason why I rated 5 stars too is how nice and helpful the owner, Rob is. One of my clients at work passed away by a hit and run. Because Inkies is so well known and growing with people all over the bay, Rob posted my clients poster at the shop and put it on his Facebook page.
I recommended my cousin who got a tribal piece on her hip, her friend got a tribal piece down her back, and my sister who has seen Tony 3 times for a huge piece down her back.
I LOVE INKIES!! and will only go here from now on.
I love this place. I have vowed to tell everyone I know about this place. I have 2 tattoos from two different artist Adrian and the Eaz. Both did amazing work for me and made me feel so comfortable and at ease. If you want awesome customized artwork from a friendly professional artist go to Inkies. You get what you pay for so why not go to the best in the bay...
Review Source:Today, my girlfriend and I went to Inkies to get my gf's nose re-pierced, because her job forced her to take it off. The piercing was done by Kat. She was awesome! My girlfriend is super happy about how it came out. We definitely recommend coming to Kat if you want a piercing done. Thanks Kat!
Review Source:Went here 2 weeks back for my first ever piercing on my left lobe. my friends and i were surprised when we got there-- totally not the shady tattoo place you would have imagined, tho i did have a hard time convincing my frds to travel all the way from Palo Alto to Fremont with me. The new location is clean, bright and salon-like (it was a real estate office), and the whole process was a breeze. I was a bit(?) anxious as that was my first time but the lady was professional and skilled enough that I wasn't feeling pain at all. After the matter they would teach you how to do the routine clean and give you an instruction (and some stickers :D) It was a pleasant visit and I would highly recommend this place to everyone.
Review Source:I got a dermal done by sin in July. (I know this review is SUUUUPER LATE. Sin, please forgive me.) The only other body part I have pierced is my ears and I fainted with that so you can guess how nervous I was to get it done.
Sin is THE best. He took me back and made me feel as comfortable as possible before doing anything. The dermal hurt less than my ear piercing ! It was completely flush to the skin and looked amaaazing. Oh! By the way, I got it under my eye. Anywho, I DID pass out anyways being that it was 1230 in the afternoon and didn't have anything to eat that day. Sin caught me, layed me down & i woke up immediately... embarrassed. Haha. He assured me that I wasn't the only one who's done it before & brought out a box of cookies for me to munch on to get some sugar in my system and get the blood going. I felt SO much better. Everything was clean, the staff is professional & friendly, and the quality of the dermal that I got there was amazing. I love love LOVE it & i'm even thinking about getting another one right next to it. If I do decide to get it, I'm definitely coming back to Sin.
Josh K. did my coverup back in August. I wanted my last name covered on my ankle, and wanted to cover it with my family name. Josh advised against this, and explained to me that it would be difficult to do it right. Because he's from Hawaii too, he recognized my family name as Hawaiian and suggested we go with a cover of a maile lei with hibiscus and plumeria. Sweet!
The day of, I hopped up on the table (having gone under the needle many times before) and was ready to roll. Of course, when you get tatts done with years in between you forget about the initial pain. After about five minutes, the pain went away and the rest of it just felt like little scrapes. I do have a high tolerance for pain, but Josh does not have a heavy hand. We talked fantasy football and Bob Marley, took two smoke breaks, and within a couple hours I was done.
I am so pleased with his work. I went in wanting one thing, but understood his reasons behind not wanting to do that type of cover. I left much happier and totally in love with the new ink.
Inkies is clean, and the crew is hella cool. Josh and I already discussed plans for my next tatt, so I will be back!
Five permanent stars!
"Breathe in...breathe out...deep breath in..." and done.
This place is a GEM, and I don't think I've ever used that word to describe a tattoo/piercing shop. It's been a while since I've had any work done; to be honest I was dressed a little soccer-mom style when the urge to get a cartilage piercing struck me on my way to Target. Â I was a little worried I would get a shady attitude like so many other tattoo shops, but Inkies is wonderful! Â The young lady at the front desk who got me signed in and ran my card was super sweet!
Sin is friendly, a skilled piercer, and just an all-around great guy. Â He explained every step, and went over the aftercare thoroughly. Â It's been 48 hours and my piercing doesn't even hurt any more!
I heard about Inkies through a friend and after checking out the yelp reviews I decided to give it a try. After looking through the artists portfolio, I decided to make an appointment with Henry W.
I dropped by one Saturday and Henry wasn't in yet but I was greeted by a sweet, knowledgable and professional girl, I believe her name was Cat. She advised me to go get a quick bite and recommended a few places in the area. Two hours later I went back meet Henry, he took a picture of the tattoo that I wanted to cover up and explained that the ideas I have would not work because my tattoo is big and dark. He then recommended other options and showed me a few example. I told him to go with whatever he thinks will look good since he's the expert. He said he will sketch out a design and have it ready by my next appt and we can change anything I didn't like. I then scheduled made an appt for a month late.
I came in after work in a suit thinking the tattoo would be done in a private room because my cover up was for my lower back and you can see my A$@. However I soon realize ALL the work is done out in the open. Henry had made the situation as comfortable for me as he possible could( me in a skirt straddling a chair with my a$& for the whole world to see). I thought I was going to be laying flat on a bed, so that was my fault. After 4 hours at Inkies including breaks here and there, I walked out happy with the results. Henry did such a great job that you can't even tell its a coverup. The next tattoo I get, I'll definitely go back to Inkies and see Henry again.
Damn! Who did your Tat?! Â Where did you get it?!
The Place is Inkies Tattoo Studio in Fremont and the Artist is Paulo!
My experience was the best! Â I did the research for a couple months looking for the right artist for me. Â I wanted a "memorial" of my Italian culture, family, and trade (Tuna Fishing). Â I came across Inkies on Yelp and eventually found my way to their website. Â I scanned through the artists' work and found it all to be amazing, but Paulo (Coach) stood out to me, as some of his pieces were close to what I was looking for. Â He has a very wide range of artistic capability and felt he would be the best person to do my tat. Â So, I called them up and was told to come in for a consultation. Â I met with Paulo and he gave his honest opinion and feedback on the idea and design. Â The one thing I did not want to do was rush this piece. Â So, Paulo and I exchanged emails with pictures and ideas over the next couple months. Â
The day of my scheduled session, I came in and Paulo had an amazing drawing waiting for me. Â We looked it over, made a few very small tweaks to some lettering and in the chair I went. Â I was there for hours and the whole time, Paulo and I were talking about life, family, childhood, interests etc. Â He's a great guy, easy to talk to, and takes into consideration your pain and comfort level etc. Â We took a few breaks, but we were able to get the whole tat done in one day. Â The Staff was assertive, humorous, and even offered to go out and pick up food for me. Â I mean common, what studio does this? Â Well, Inkies does. Â They care about their customers in a big way and it is very evident the moment you walk in. Â
The price was very reasonable and honestly if you're going in for a special tat, money should not be first thing on your mind. Â But, when the artwork and service is so good, you feel like you walked away with a deal. Â I walked out not only 150% satisfied with my Tat. Â It came out better than I envisioned in my head and I realized that Paulo is a true artist and is amazing at what he does. Â
I truly believe Inkies is changing the face of the Tattoo industry even if it is only in the Bay Area. Â All of the artists will walk you through your piece and you can expect an amazing outcome.
Inkies is the place to go for Tattoos and Piercings. Â If I could give 10 stars, I would. Â
If Whiz Khalifa aint going to give me a Tat, it will be Paulo at Inkies.

I have to do an updated review since my last one exactly a year ago!
Since then, I've gotten my lobes pierced a second time and a snug piercing by Sin. As always, he is the best! I trust no one else in terms of piercings and I take all my friends to get pierced by him.
A week ago I got my first tattoo by Jake Thompson. Jake was super chill about it and I'm definitely going to come back to him. I was surprised how nice and accommodating he was considering I was a little nervous about it all. I got "Straight Edge" tattooed on my feet and I wouldn't change a thing about it! Jake got it perfect and really took the time to place the stencils and go back and touch-up little spots here and there. I really could not ask for a better experience.
My sister and I got inked by Jake, which was his first day as an inkies employee. I have to say I was honored because he did an awesome job! I totally love our tattoo. He even added a small detail to make it even more special.
Inkies is very clean, the people are down to earth and surely can give a good laugh. I totally recommend this pmace for anyone tying to get great ink or piercing and know you are getting top knotch work!
Inkies is a clean and family like environment. Matt Zopfi my artist is way too talented, thanks for the solid work! Rob the manager is real down to earth and definitely care's about satisfaction. I've been back and forth for more work, and I honestly dont think I can change my place to get ink'd.
If you haven't been, definitely a place i wouldn't double think about going. They have many talented artist's for any type of style you're looking for. Shoutout to the INKIES team you guys deserve to be 5 stars!!
Super late, but eep! Better late than never...
This was my first tattoo and my brothers as well... Josh was amazing, took his time, made sure we were comfortable and did a wonderful, kick-ass job! I felt at ease and able to make changes here and there and not feel bad or as if I were "tainting" his artistry. Â Josh was patient and professional. Â The front desk actually has someone there to greet you and make sure that your questions are answered (I had been to MANY places during my research where, unbeknownst to me I turned invisible and my money/business rec's. held no value), and to top it off, while I was getting my tattoo they had motown bumpin throughout the place... It was hard to sit still haha! Â I have no problem saying that I will never go anywhere else! Â
So go go go! And love it!!
Thank you Josh and Inkies for giving my brother and I an amazing experience!
After the first experience, cartilage piercing. we wanted to come back for future piercings. Â We came in for my daughters belly piercing. i finally allowed her to get it done. Â we get there & Sin wasn't there :( but it's ok because the owner felt bad for Daeja & gave her a coupon & a tank top for free. Â that was so nice of him! anyways we returned the day Sin was in & again he was so good with my daughter. Â gave her breathing techniques, post instrructions, and talked her thru the entire piercing. Â
A few weeks later we returned but not for a complaint but to get my nose piercing. Â Again, Sin was AWESOME!!!! I got my nasal piercing and it was a great experience. Â I was so nervous & he was able to calm me down! The piercing didn't even hurt!
If you're thinking of getting a piercing...get it & ask for SIN! I've never gotten a tattoo here but everyone that i've seen that gets it done at inkies their ink looks really good. Â
Overall Inkies, is very welcoming & clean! best part is that it's close to home!
Wow, I seriously could not be happier with my experience at Inkies. Â I've been planning on getting this tattoo for a while now, and Matt designed an awesomer-lookin' compass rose than I ever could have planned out myself (you know you're not an artist when you 'plan' tattoos). Â It seriously turned out better than I even expected it to, and I've got some high expectations. Â I'm thrilled, can you tell?
Just to reiterate, Matt is an awesome artist, and we already chatted about what my next piece will look like (despite the fact that I initially had planned to have all of my pieces done by different artists, and have been thus far).
All of the guys there are super chill, and very nice. Â I was offered a pillow and a wrap to make myself more comfortable a couple of times (and I was only there for an hour).
The fact that they're also open until 10 is pretty awesome. Â My initial "F it, I'm going to go get this tattoo, it's time" thought was later than most parlors stay open, but I was able to cater to my impulse and waltz into set up an appointment.
P.S. Why, yes, foot tattoos do hurt like a b*tch. Â More so than the other two I've gotten on my chest and back of my neck.
Got a dermal anchor piercing by my eye here, and my mom got two on her chest. Sin is AWESOME. He's super nice, treated both of us well, and I felt totally comfortable around him. I always recommend this place when people ask me about my piercings.
I'd give this place 5 stars, but one of the artists "wrote down" my mom's number and said he'd get back to her on doing her tattoo but he never did. The person at the front desk already told us he was completely free, so for him to ignore her like that was very rude. I just wish I remembered his name right now. Also, on their fb page, a couple complained about the same artist for the same reason: he never called them back. Oh well, guess he doesn't want to make money.
I've been ink'd up by Tony TWICE and I just now decide to do a review..LONG OVER DUE.
Inkies isn't your typical tattoo studio where you walk in and feel uncomfortable. Came in a little under 2 years ago to set up a consultation with Tony and right when I walked in, I instantly felt at home. The staff is very welcoming and friendly. The studio is beyond sanitary & has a very "homely" feeling. Where else can you get ink'd & watch the 9er game? The staff is very knowledgeable about their craft and it shows in their work, especially with Filipino & Polynesian tribal.
The last tattoo I got was a tribal shark on my left rib cage for my Grandpa. While getting ink'd the staff was very accomodating, making sure that I was doing alright, if I needed water or a break. I appreciated that, because some places, the staff doesn't even bother. I also appreciate that the staff builds rapport with each and every client so that there isn't that awkward vibe goin' on.
Definitely will be going back here to get a couple more pieces.. =)...
Quality work, Professional Service, and positive vibes all around. Seriously, what MORE can you ask for???? You can't fake an atmosphere and service like that and I'm the type of person that always asks, "what's the catch?" and tries to read everyone. lol.
I emailed Inkies to set an appointment for a consultation. Lester responded and was very friendly. Quick response and the correspondence was so welcoming. I stopped by with my husband to meet with Sin, their resident piercer.
Sin- no words can describe. I wanted to have some "womanly" areas pierced and I had so many questions for him. He was patient, knowledgeable, and he went over everything meticulously. I was worried about pain along with how everything would look and thankfully Sin wasn't sleezy and he didn't make me feel awkward at all. I booked my appointment for a week later.
The Piercing Day- My husband and I walked in and Lester remembered us! How cool right? We waited for Sin to prepare the room. The procedure was sterile as hell. Everything was wrapped up and disinfected (as it should be). The room was comfortable and private. Sin walked me through how everything was going to be and taught me how to breathe so the pain wouldn't be as intense. The procedure? IT DIDN'T HURT AT ALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I've been through harder pinches than that (clamps, gropes... lol). for that alone I could give 20 million stars!!!!! Sin went over aftercare and surprisingly, i didn't swell or have any yuckies at all and recovery time is supposed to be 4-6 mos! AWESOME.
My husband appreciated Inkies so much that he even booked an appointment with Oliver for a full sleeve, deposit on that day and everything.
These guys are down to earth and truly care about their craft. I'm such a blunt, vulgar, bad mouthed girl and I felt SOOOOOO ashamed when I swore or when I was sarcastic (Oliver made a comment about my husband's arms being big and I said something like really?! my husband and i always joke around like that but I think Oliver thought I was a b*tch after that :(. I swear I'm not... I'm just spunky). Sin was good about answering my questions about sex and the piercings which i appreciated. I apologize for being so bad mouthed guys.... :T thanks for putting up with my swearing and nastiness! I promise to tone it down next time.
I'll be back to watch Oliver start on my husband's sleeve later this month!
So proud to rock my "I got poked by Sin" sticker!
The Inkies crew is awesome! Â I LOVE my Poly blue tooth that Tony A. freestyled behind my right ear. Â He incorporated MY ideas w/ HIS creative talents and created a masterpiece! Â Rob made us feel "at home" as we waited around for each other to finish. I like how it didn't feel like a dark and shady atmosphere. Â It was nice and bright w/ good tunes!
We liked them so much that we started referring them out and were able to get an appt again the following week! Â Great job guys! Â We'll be back for more!
I can't even begin to describe the level of awesomeness that is Inkie's. Â From the first point of contact to the last, I received nothing but excellent customer service, and I now have a fabulous tattoo as the end result. Â
I'm a little indecisive, and maybe not the best candidate in the world for a tattoo. Â I'm sure that must have gone through Rob (the owner's) head more than a time or two, as I changed my mind several (if not more) times throughout the sketching process. Â As frustrating as I imagine that to have been, Rob (and Paulo, my tattooist) were both extremely patient and discussed the changes I wanted to ensure that I got exactly what I wanted in my tattoo. Â
The day that I went in was on the quiet side- Paulo and everyone else there were totally cool, relaxed and friendly. Â The inside of the studio is very modern and upscale, which helped me to feel at ease. Â I've been inside of other tattoo studios that are not so much of either. Â Paulo showed me the final sketch, made sure I didn't want to make any other changes, and started to set up. Â I was explaining to him about how I can be indecisive, and he even said as he was prepping that I still had time to make more changes! Â Ha! Â
Paulo was super cool throughout the entire process, explained everything, and reassured me that YES IT WILL DEFINITELY HURT. Â He made good conversation as he worked, which helped to keep my mind off the pain. Â He was done within two hours, and I ended up with an amazing piece beyond all expectation. Â He was very thorough with aftercare instructions and answered all questions that I had. Â
I'm not planning on any more tattoos, but if I ever consider it, I will definitely be back. Â And will also not hesitate to recommend. Â A+++++
PART 1....
I discovered Inkies Tattoo last summer at the Fremont Art & Wine festival. My Bf & I walked past their booth, noticed the advertising and took a chance to go talk to the guys. I first noticed Sin & his dermal piercing. I immediate thought how effn awesome that was and how I wanted one...but me being me, I wanted to wait and see how BAD I REALLY wanted it.
Over the course of the next 5 or so months, Sin was AWESOME! I facebooked them once I got home & added Sin and the Inkies page itself. Â I know I must've drove Sin CRAZY with my Facebook messages asking TONS of questions over & over about the Dermal and what to expect. He answered me EVERY TIME, even if it was the SAME QUESTION and he was ALWAYS nice in his response.
Finally, 5 months later, myself and 2 friends went to go see Sin, for my birthday present to myself...my dermal. Â 1 friend went first, and Sin was SOO AWESOME...there's not enough stars. Â He walked and talked us through the whole process, helping us to breathe our way through it and it wasn't nearly as bad as each of us had thought. Â
When it came to my turn, Sin was incredibly professional, wiping down the table between each of us, changing all his equipment, answering ALL of our questions....and then some, as it's SUPPOSED to be done!
I was SO happy with SIN & his work with just 1 Dermal. He uses the skin punch like it's supposed to be done...he takes his time & best of off, he's PATIENT. Â I get compliments on my dermal since it's visible on my chest, and to everyone that asks, I refer to Inkies & Sin!
Part 2...
After referring everyone and then some to Inkies for INK....I actually FINALLY WENT MYSELF. I had a horrible FIX IT tattoo...one that I've lived with for the past 3 years...I finally called & made an appointment with OLIVER! Now, not only is Oliver pleasing to the eyes, he's an AMAZING artist too!!! He actually FIXED my HUGE eff up of a rib piece. It's 100 times better!!
Talking with Rob, the owner of Inkies on the phone was great too! He was very reassuring and very helpful in my choosing Oliver for my artist. He fit my style & what I had needed best. Â I won't be going ANYWHERE else!! And I always refer to Inkies!
I walked in to have my navel piercing repierced (don't get cheap Nina's or whatever clothing store for pendants... unreliable, but that's a different story).
Sin consoled me about my navel pierce, said I shouldn't get it done today since it's still healing. Too late to reinsert a new pendant, too early to repierce. Although a bit disappointed, I was very appreciative of his honesty and that he didn't just rush me for the money.
I DID get something done. Me and my boyfriend were talking about getting other piercings done on the way to Inkies, but I didn't expect to do so that day. I didn't want to drive from SSF to Inkies for nothing :)
I got my two anchor piercings on my lower back and my boyfriend got his lip done. Sin was most def easy to talk to yet very professional. He teaches you this breathing technique to ease the pain... and so you won't pass out or anything.
Let me just say, I LOVE IT.
A lot of people were talking me to not getting one because of the risks, but Sin is educated rather than hearing unfortunate stories or myths of anchor piercing.
Sin has this great theory about pain. Ask him about it.
The studio is dope and fresh.
I'm definitely going back here again.
AMAZING experience, from beginning to end!! Well, I'm still getting more ink (from Inkies, of course), so I guess I haven't reached the end yet.
After doing some research and being recommended by a friend, I came across Inkies. I looked on the website, liked their work, and decided to contact them. To my surprise, a personal cell number was provided, and it said you could text them 24/7. I texted the number and sent some reference pictures and picture of my current tattoo, and the owner, Rob, promptly responded. He was incredibly helpful and recommended Christo to me for the type of work I wanted.
So I went in and was lucky enough to talk to Christo (he's normally pretty busy). He was also incredibly helpful...we looked at reference pictures, he looked at my current tattoo, and he asked a lot of questions about what I wanted. What I liked the most about Christo is that he's really an artist...he had a lot of suggestions that I really liked for my tattoo that made it unique to me. The other shops I've been all took the picture I gave them and did exactly what had already been done.
When I went in to get my tattoo done, the shop was definitely alive...it was a fantastic environment to be in. Families were coming in together, the shop was flawlessly clean, and every single person who worked there greeted me and was incredibly friendly. Everyone one was talking to each other, sharing tattoos and piercings, and admiring the work of the artists.
Christo made me feel very comfortable, and he put A LOT of time into not only planning out my tattoo, but also into freestyle drawing it onto my skin. For the first sitting, we just did the flowers for my peach blossom and lightly outlined the branches. He spent four hours working on twelve flowers...the amount of care and detail he put into my tattoo is evident by how beautifully it turned out. His work is AMAZING and I am definitely going back for more. It makes me wish I had more places on my body to tattoo!
The other artists at Inkies all do fantastic work, too...I had the pleasure of seeing pretty much every artist working on a tattoo while I was there, and I can say without hesitation that I would feel comfortable with any of them giving me a tattoo. I've gotten bad tattoos (unfortunately) from other places, so I'm very careful now about who I let do my tattoos...but like I said, I would trust anyone at Inkies. However, Christo is definitely my artist of choice.
I wish I could give Inkies 6 stars to set them apart from all the other places that have received 5 stars...you may think you know a good tattoo shop, but you haven't seen what 5 stars really means until you come to Inkies.
I had to start off small to seee what the place was like before I decide to get a big piece. So, back in October or September I decided to add 2 small flowers to my ankle tattoo. Â We went in and it was a bit late, so I made an appointment for a week later. Â Overall I thought the place was EXCEPTIONALLY clean. Â So I was really excited for my appt.
So my bf and I showed up later, and the front desk guy (maybe he's not like the actual front desk guy but he handled all the logistical crap... anyway he was nice and had nice tattoos so I felt really comfortable in there) and the artist (i think his name was Josh) was super friendly but cool at the same time. Â He put me at ease, drew on my leg and got to work. Â The other guys there seemed really great at what they do also. Â There was another guy getting a huge piece on his arm and from what I saw, there was hella shading and detail and it looked really nice. Â There was also another girl getting a piece done on her back and she said her artist's hands were as smooth as butter... lol
So back to my own personal experience. Â Josh was really friendly and kept a real conversation and would always ask if i was doing ok. Â These guys hook you up forreal. Â I felt comfortable the whole time (which is a lot to say because in my opinion tattoos aren't the most easiest thing to sit through). Â I'm studying to be in the medical field and i was delighted to see that they were super duper clean, used extra heavy duty nitrile gloves to prevent any BBP exposure (blood borne pathogen) and even more delighted to see that all the instruments that he was taking out to use on me were coming out of an autoclave and freshly sterilized in their own packets!!! Yess love their cleanliness.... Â =)
My flowers turned out really really nice. I left super happy and satisfied... I've even gotten compliments on them from my mom who HATES even the idea of tattoos and even the older ladies at work who think that tattoos are bad news. Â
Yeah the place is pricey... (what LEGIT tattoo shop isn't?) but I'm definitely one of those you get what you pay for kinda gals. Â Theres a place down grimmer that does tattoos... but they also sell smoke shop items like bongs and what not... so where would you go in Fremont for a tattoo? Inkies. DUH. Â
Definitely coming back for a bigger piece on my calf. Â =)
If I could give Inkies six stars, I would! Â The shop is great, clean and well lit and all the people I came in contact with were very professional and very friendly.
I had breast cancer and had to have a double mastectomy. Â Let's leave it to say that they take everything - so I needed some tattoos to give the look of what I am missing. Â The plastic surgeon did a great job with everything else regarding the reconstruction, but I didn't trust them with the finishing decoration, if you will. Â So my husband and I went into Inkies and told them about my situation and they thought that Christo would be the best person to handle the job, since apparently he has done pigment matching work and worked on people with scars in the past. Â
Day of comes and when we showed up, Christo had done research online to get an idea of what he'd be facing in terms of the area and what the expectation was. Â They let him use the piercing room for the tattoos, to give more privacy. Â He did a fabulous job and I did not feel at all uncomfortable during the process. Â
I had to go out of my way to give a shout out and say that the whole experience was great and really made me feel whole again. Â This has finally let me put the cancer as far behind me as possible. Â
Thanks Christo & Â Inkies!!
I'm not the type to READ or WRITE reviews. Just tell me or I'll tell you if it's hit or miss.
But for INKIES, i'll go beyond my norm....
I have several tats - all branded by various artists; all of them I've been extremely satisfied with. But noone can get me even more addicted than I already am with the pain of having art on my body, than Oliver at Inkies. Â He's honest and trustworthy. Â I'm extremely comfortable under Oli's needle, almost too comfortable that I nap in his chair. Â He'll kill me for saying that.
Rob and the crew are all extremely professional individuals. Â You feel like a valued client as well as a friend.
This is in correspondence to Lydia L.'s post.
I've been to inkies for tattoos & piercings. Oliver is amazing, at the work he does. 5 stars for him. :]]
Now, on to whats really the main issue, I happened to have had a dermal anchor on my chest awhile back that I cause some sort of trauma to it and I was able to remove it myself. I waited 'til it healed and decided I wanted to get a new one, and I did. Sin went ahead and did the piercing. Fast forward months later, and I woke up Christmas day, with my dermal anchor literally hanging by a piece of my skin. I tried to remove it myself, with no luck. Then i remembered I had 'Inkies Tattoo Studio' Â as my friend on Facebook. I decided to message the owner, and ask for his advice on what to do. I was totally freaking out because it wouldn't budge and it was so annoying! Â He replied with "Cat text Sin and ask him the best thing to do. Here's his Cell number."
With a sigh of relief, I texted SIn, and he said to not touch it, keep it covered with a band aid and to come in on tuesday. I personally wasn't fond of the idea of having this piece of jewelry just hanging by a thread of skin, for the next few days, nonetheless with a neon green band aid over it!
At last Tuesday had arrived, I was off! My friend and I decided to go and get this thing removed! Â We arrive and I Â can honestly say, I waited for an hour maybe even longer. Each time Sin, had came out he said oh 15 minutes. Â I was getting really irritated because, for one why tell me that you're going to be 15 minutes when you're actually going to be longer than that? Â He then proceeded to say, you can come back tomorrow i wasn't even supposed to be here today. You could tell he was annoyed and upset about it. Â I replied with, okay I texted you over the weekend saying i needed this removed and you clearly told me to come in today I wont have time to come back tomorrow.
he rolled his eyes and replied "well I could remove it out here" (referring to the tattoo area) since an interview was going on. The issue I have with that is, I don't care how sanitary anyone say's the place is, it just isn't right. You wouldn't have your doctor operate on you in the lobby would you? Second, It didn't even take 10 minutes to remove my piercing, they swear like they weren't able to pause the filming that was going on, so that I could of just left and be on my way.
The whole thing was just really inconvenient and rude. Â Im really disappointed in the lack of customer service they had that day. Especially, since I have referred a ton of people to this place. I had too much of a high hope for Inkies, yet they clearly treated me just like any other shop would.
Top Notch Tattoo studio!
When you enter Inkies they make you feel right at home. NO ATTITUDES! I hate when you go into a shop and they barely even talk to you and act like the have better things to be doing. This has NEVER been the case at Inkies. They are always kind and helpful! This is how it is done!
I went in with a visual idea and a picture of what I kinda wanted and after talking with Christo for a bit he said he would draw something up and get back to me. I wasnt expecting him to get it right the first time because my descriptions were kinda vague. I had a picture but didnt want it "exactly" the same. I wanted a one of a kind Tattoo. This Guy came through with flying colors! I didnt make him change a thing. He hit it right on the money! I cant say enough about my experience with this shop!
If you want a GREAT tattoo in a well kept, clean shop by guys who are a pleasure to work with...This is your place!
I actually went here about a year ago. ( I didn't have a yelp account until now.) I think this place deserves great ratings for their great service.
- Very friendly and down to earth staff
- Sin did my piercing
*he opened all of the sterile equipment in front of me
*he was very thorough in examining the area to be pierced and careful to pierce the right place.
*he explained what he was doing why he was doing it and also informed me about the proper treatment for after care and what i should and should not do directly after.
*he didn't rush he took his time without taking too long and made sure i was relaxed before the initial piercing.
*he also informed me to come back after piercing was no longer swollen to have my ring changed out for a shorter bar and that he would put the new one in for me
- Friendly and calm environment.
- A little more pricey than some places, but you get what you pay for and this place is certainly quality service and care
Today I came in to get my cartilage pierced after reading the rave reviews about Inkies. As soon as I walked in I immediately got a good vibe. Sin was working at the register and was friendly and attentive to me and my friend as customers. He assured us of the risks and made us confident that our piercings would be done well and explained how to take care of them thoroughly.
He took us to a room in the back to get the piercing done and calmed me down with some breathing techniques before piercing my ear. It definitely did not hurt as much as I expected and he quickly cleaned it and showed me the proper way to maintain the cleanliness of my ear.
Highly recommend!!
I went to Inkies to get my first tattoo. My husband and daughter designed one for my Christmas present and I was very excited. I was a little nervous on getting it done and the artist put me at ease. We talked a little, but sometimes it felt awkward and forced. I am the type to make you talk when you are not talking. I don't care for awkward silences especially when you are that close to me.
The artist Oliver did a great job, but about a week later my ink started flaking off in chunks. Before I knew it my tattoo looked like it had baked in the sun and was very faint. I am a very fair skinned girl and the colors should be vibrant...new or not. I went in a month later to get it retouched and was basically told that they had never seen that before and it would be redone. Then the artist said that I had probably put too much ointment or the wrong kind on it and it pushed the ink out. (I used Aquaphor which it what they gave me). After I had it redone I used A&D and everything was fine.
I am not rating them really low because that would be unfair. The work is good and the guys are nice...I am just disappointed that on my first tattoo I had to get it redone instead of going in to add on to it.
I would love to add on to this tattoo, but am weary on going back to Inkies. When I asked the artist his thoughts on what I could do, he said simply "flowers are always good". He had no artistic input or ambition which kind of told me he was disinterested which I find strange considering the line of work.
The place looks super busy and they seem to rush you as if you were just a number...maybe something to work on?
I wish I could say I got pierced by Sin, but I'd be lying to you. Â I just bought jewelry, but even that experience was refreshing. Â After a wild night, I discovered that my jewelry was gone and I didn't want to drive all the way to Oakland for my regular piercing needs. Â I remember seeing Inkies' booth at the Art and Wine Festival, so I checked them out and I'm glad I did! Â Unlike other piercing shops, Sin actually put the jewelry in (free of charge) after doing the proper measurements and sterilizations and cleaned my other piercings.
Don't fret about the big window in the middle of the shop, because he has classy curtains for privacy, unlike plastic hospital curtains like other places.
REMINDER: cash only!
I was contently snoozing away on Sunday when Anna calls me and tries to convince me to get a random piercing. Tempting...
After thinking about it for a few minutes, I decide to go along, but to skip out on the piercing. I meet Sin, their resident piercer, and watch him and Anna go through the whole routine. Seeing the needles and the blood made me feel kind of queasy, so it took some A&W action down the road to settle me down.
Well, while I was drinking my root beer and gnawing on a drumstick, I decide to go back and get randomly pierced. I guess I should have paid more attention the first time around, but I'm a fast learner. I talk to Sin about my options, and everything seems to be working out the way I want it, so let's do it!
Sin is knowledgeable and meticulously clean in his work. The whole studio is clean and everything is wiped down before and after a client comes in. They don't even use Sharpies there because markers tend to be reused and touch different parts of people's bodies and that could get really gross...he uses a sterile toothpick and violet dye that is supposedly used in surgery to mark incisions.
During the piercing process, Sin discusses spiritual healing via piercings and how the way the needle pierces can affect your chi, as well as cleaning negative energy from you. Even if you haven't had that experience with your body modifications in the past, it's nice to have a change of pace. Sin's breathing techniques and his caring personality really makes you feel at ease and not rushed in and out like busy piercing parlors in Berkeley. He lets you take your time to recover and is very calming.
I had thought about getting my piercing for a while and had shopped around several studios, but didn't find somewhere that I was comfortable getting it done until now.
So all in all, I'm glad I brought my business here and it was a great experience and I would highly recommend anyone to get their piercings done here.
Me: Â Hey Grace Y., I think I want to get something pierced today, you want to come?
Grace Y: Â Hrm..alright!
The piercer, Sin, sure knows the way to my heart, first he said my belly was nice and flat and that made me blush. Â Then he said, Asian girls with freckles are hot.
Omg.
Then Grace Y. took off her shirt off and I got to see her boobies.
5 stars.
Sin is very detailed in his work and his piercing technique is something that I'm not used to, with this whole breathing togetherness, Grace mentioned that it was like we were having a baby together.
This place is awesome! Got my leg work done by Oliver, he does sick cartoon work. Karl is hands down one of the best portrait artists in the bay. Sin also pierced my nipples and he is very knowlegeable in aftercare etc. Lastly, Tony is a great all around artist with some sick tribal work.
Friendly staff, moderately priced, a very fun place to be around. Huge TV screen in the middle of the tattoo floor and they often play music to forget how painful getting a tattoo can be.
A+++ would definetally come here again...
Yes, yet another review update. And damnit, Sin, accept tips!
So, piercings are like crack, and I wanted to get my earlobes re-pierced, and get my nipples done, but I ended up getting my lobes done, my tongue done, and 3 special piercings "for her pleasure." :)
I was already familiar with Sin's breathing techniques, so I didn't have to go through that part. He did, however, make sure that I stayed in breath with him when the actual poking happened. It's weird, but holding your breath and exhaling along with him does actually make you think less about the pain. The lobes and tongue didn't hurt that much, but let me put this out for the whole internet to read... That first piercing down there hurt like a motherfucker!
Last night, I wasn't the only one to get pierced. I had brought along the girl I'm currently dating, Elaine (<a href="http://misselaineous.yelp.com/">http://misselaineous.yel…</a>), because she wanted some piercings done, and she would be able to help Sin out with my sensitive piercing. She got a second set of holes in her lobes, and got this sexy piercing through the lower lip, kind of like a labret, but through the red of the lip. It's hot, and we'll post a picture once her swelling goes down. All I know is that I keep staring at her lip, more so than I did before she got the piercing.
I don't really need to say this, as everyone's made it quite clear, but Inkie's is one of the cleanest, friendliest places to get pierced and/or inked up. The staff really takes the time to do a quality job, and they will recognize you if you're a repeat customer. It's kind of like Cheers, but with sharp ass needles. You can talk to them about anything, and in our case, pretty much everything was put out on the table, and Sin didn't flinch. We talked about everything, from Ben Wa balls to Elaine being a female top in Florida. :)
Thanks again, Sin, for everything. We'll be back, and we'll recommend you to others.
After doing a ton of research about Tattoos, I decided it was time. Â I went to the studio one day with the design idea I had for my tattoo. Â I was greeted by some friendly guys, and the immediately looked at my idea. I spoke with the artist and he told me that he could have it ready the next day. Â I put down my deposit, and he told me to make sure I ate a good meal before coming.
The next day I showed up, excited, and nervous. Â I brought up that I have a potential allergy to nickel, and he told me that the purple in my design might be a bad idea. Â We talked about my options, and decided that I would get a black and gray tattoo, and I could double check with my doctor about the allergy. Â If the doctor gives me the ok, I'll go back and have it colored.
I was super nervous, and when they stenciled me, I got light headed several times before they even started the actual tattoo. Â They were all very patient, and talked with me to ease my nerves.
The atmosphere here was super relaxed and friendly. Â I hope the doctor gives me the ok so I can go back and have the tattoo finished. Â If I ever decide to get another tattoo, I know where I'm going to get it.
