What, three stars for Iris? you are probably thinking - what does this girl know! But let me explain.
The first time I came, I adored this place. I received great customer service, the jewelry was amazing, they even sold local jewelry, it was clean, and relatively inexpensive - very comparable to most other piercing places in Utah.
So because of that experience, I came back. I needed to get a small hoop for my nose, but they didn't have it in stock. They were having a sale that weekend, so he gave me a card saying to come back in a couple of weeks and I could use the discount - which was very generous of them, since I didn't even know they were having a sale.
When I returned to get the ring about 4 weeks later, they told me they had to put it in and such, which was okay. I had a lot of issues with my first piercing. First, I am EXTREMELY sensitive - the metal used for the stud really irritated my nose, and I told them I needed a silver ring, not in color, but as in the metal. It was NOT silver. I knew almost right away because of the irritation I received. Second, the stud would get caught on a lot, since I am pretty active, and it is on my nose - kind of hard to really protect it. But they didn't say at the time of the piercing that this sort wasn't the best/smallest option when I explained my concerns.
Back to the point, I told them I had a lot of infections, used DoTerra oils to heal my nose three times, and I thought the ring would be better as it is silver - not metal like the stud - and because it was a small ring, would not get caught or be pulled out. Well needless to say, he could not get the ring in. When I tried to explain he pulled my nostril out when he pierced it, he would have to do the same to get it in, but he laughed at me! Like literally "haha" and said he would never have done that... Uhmmm why would I lie? Pretty sure I had to put the ring in when it got ripped out twice, so I know it needed to be done. I left with blood oozing out of my nose since he was pushing the ring in so hard his hands were shaking - and the ring was not in. He was trying to re pierce my nose with the ring.
I grabbed the ring out of his hands, paid the lady at the register who was just startled and asked why I was bleeding and the ring was not in, and left the store. I sat in my car and put the ring in my nostril within 2 minutes and left to heal my nose AGAIN.
I am a loyal Iris customer. They have a wide selection of unique and high quality body jewelry and a frequent buyer program, which is nice because every so often I'll get a random $10 discount.
Every time I have been pierced there or I have accompanied someone else being pierced, the end result is always fantastic. They are extremely knowledgeable and personable, and always make you feel comfortable.
Their facility is very clean and their displays are organized logically and aesthetically, and their selection of plugs is quite large. They even sell jewelry made by local SLC artists! I would recommend Iris over any other piercing shop in Salt Lake, 100%.
I'm new to SLC and super happy to find an professional piercing shop with a huge selection of quality jewelry, including gold. I got tiny 14 carat gold studs, which was exactly what I had been looking for. James pierced my second set of earlobe piercing. He was great at coaching me to breathe deeply while he pierced each ear. Very impressed, I'm tempted to get my septum re-pierced now!
Highly recommend!
I went there to get a labret because they were open a half hour later to Koi. When I went to Koi I got there too late and they wouldn't take me.
Dustin did the piercing and besides being easy on the eyes, he was very nice and friendly and even gave me a coupon for a discount when I wanted to come back and get another bar.
They were very clean inside and made sure that I knew it was my piece of jewelry that was sterilized by using the special bag and machine. Dustin wore gloves and made me lie down on the table. It came out perfect! Just where I wanted it below my lip.
The place was a little smaller than Koi and have less options. I did get a size bigger than wanted but it was no big deal. The girl up front was also very nice and friendly when I talked with her. I'd highly recommend. I think they are about equally priced as Koi.
This is a gorgeous piercing studio, and with prices like this it should be. Pricing here is a bit higher than I expected, but the cleanliness and professionalism of the staff raises this place up much higher than other shops I've been to. I'm gonna throw out the old standby "you get what you pay for" here.
Review Source:I went in today to get some new jewelry for my nostril and monore. I was greeted by th bubbliest and most friendly recipoionist I have ever encountered at any piercing studio. She was absolutely lovely, They didn't have the exact jewelry I was looking for but she made the jewelry work, thinking on her toes and getting creative with the jewelry. She definitely knew what she was doing and a lot about their products. The guy who put my jewelry in was just fabulous as well! He answered all my questions about my jewelry which I seemed to have a lot of. He was just so friendly and nice! Also check out the amazing display of plugs and gauges, it was beyond a wonderful experiences. I will be back for sure! Thanks Iris :)
Review Source:Iris is the best. Don't even try to tell me otherwise!
After making a complete fool of myself at Koi, I went on the hunt for a new place to get pierced. I had heard good things about Jesse at Iris, so I decided to check him out. I got my ears gauged at Koi by Patrick, and he was a complete douche! It probably didn't help that I was crying, but he still could have been nice. Jesse was the complete opposite of Patrick. Jesse was patient, and you could tell that he really knew what he was doing. He cleaned my septum twice before even considering putting a needle near it. He explained the process to me, and showed me his cool septum ring. When the time came, I was so nervous that he had me lay back. He put the needle in, and then the ring. It turned out perfectly, and I have no regrets. I won't go anywhere but Iris from now on. I am 100% thrilled with my septum ring, and have had it for 3 years now.
I heard Jesse moved to Denver. I will miss him dearly, but I'm sure the other piercers are just as professional.
Hi, my name is Vi and I used to be a jewelry junkie.
For awhile, I was going to Iris every couple of weeks. New jewelry, gauging my ears, piercings. My favorite thing about Iris is the customer service. I dropped one of my glass earrings and it shattered into a million pieces. I was sick with the thought of having to replace both pieces but the guys at Iris offered to order a single earring so that I didn't have to pay for a full set again. Everyone there is very friendly and I really like that they greet you when you walk in. I've been to other jewelry shops and I get the feeling that they're too cool for school. Or hell, maybe it's that I'm not cool enough to be browsing.
Iris has beautiful jewelry, especially if you're looking to gauge your ears. A bit pricey but it's about the same as everywhere else here in Utah. The place is very clean and everything is sterilized including any jewelry you might buy. If you're getting pierced or going up a size with your gauges, they talk you through it. They tell you what they're doing, when they're doing it, and they even tell you how to breathe so that the pain isn't awful.
All in all, I love Iris and the guys who run the business.
I was fortunate enough to meet Jesse a couple of weeks ago. Â He did three piercings for me and they were pretty much painless.
The shop is extremely clean and Jesse let's you see that all utensils and jewelry being sterilized. Â Jesse has an very welcoming personality, I guess I could say he has great bedside manner since getting piercings sometimes feels like going to the doctor. Â
I can go on and on about how wonderful Jesse is. Â Oops! Â I forgot to mention Jessica who is just as wonderful as Jesse. Â They make a great team and I wish them much success here in Denver. Â I will be moving back to Los Angeles the end of August, but I am very happy to have found Jesse prior to my move.
Jesse, best of luck to you in the Mile High City.
I could not change the Utah address. Â The Denver address is as follows:

If I EVER need a piercing or help with an existing piercing or simply need new jewelry, Iris is my only stop. The people who work there are friendly, down to earth and don't have that holier than thou attitude that you find at most piercing places in SLC. They offer amazing jewelry and I have never had a bad experience there when getting pierced. Four years since I had my nose done and it has always been great! Just purchased a new rose gold nose ring there and I love it.
They just expanded and put a store in Denver Colorado. Good for you Iris! Check them out. You'll be glad you did.
The guys at Iris Piercing are awesome. I love them all.
Although recently Jesse moved to Denver, CO to expand and open up shop, the experience has been and always will be great.
Dustin and Nick still remain at the shop in the notorious location of Sugarhouse, SLC, UT. :)
They care about their customers, making sure they get quality jewelry from quality craftsmen.
They believe in a safe and sterile environment, I know - I used to clean those rooms on the weekends.
They believe in a piercing technique that is safe, as painless as possible and they genuinely care about your comfort and well-being from the time you come in to when you leave with your fresh new piercing and / or awesome jewelry.
I highly recommend Iris Piercing.
