    Permanent makeup
    Cool or Weird?

This review is based solely upon a consult/interview with Doug, the sole proprietor and artist at Lasting Impressions.

For my Xmas present to myself, I decided I wanted "lash enhancement" permanent makeup. I also decided to give the same to a friend of mine because we both have all the "stuff" we need.

We went to see Doug for a consultation and both felt he was one of the most affable, pleasant people you could hope to meet. His shop is nice, and is located in an older building.

However, perhaps because he is in the process of moving his business from Vassar St. to MayAnne, he never showed us his equipment, and did not have pencils available to "draw on" what he would tattoo on our eyes although I had asked him in advance to do this for us. Also, it took several days to reach him on the phone for our appointment.

He showed us a portfolio of his work, but was quick to point out in several circumstances, "I don't do the work that way anymore." Now he brushstrokes in the eyebrows. That's cool, but why not take those pics out of the book then?

I did enjoy talking to him, and he partially answered my questions, but I felt a little too much schmoozing and not quite enough practical demonstration was offered.

Doug has very good references from my Aestethician, who has had both liner and her brows done, and from my laser lady who has had the same. Both of their work looks natural, which is what I want, but I've decided to look a bit further before making a final decision.

If I do in fact use Doug, and like the results, he may end up with a different star-rating. Like I said, he comes across as a normal guy and appears to value his raport with customers. I'm just not your average customer. This would be my first and only tattoo (and costs $150 per lid) and I want it to be perfect!

Brows are $300-$350. Ouch! Believe it or not, his are the going rates around here.
