I recently had a small, simple, but technically challenging tattoo done by Heidi. It is an extremely bad tattoo. The line work is very shaky, inconsistent and non-uniform. There is a major bump in an otherwise decent curve (its a band.) See photos.
When I realized the extent of how poorly executed the tattoo is, I went back to talk with her. She was defensive, and said she had warned me about this possibility. If she had initially told me that she was incapable of doing the tattoo I requested, I would agree with her assessment.
In any case, had she admitted that the tattoo was very flawed, and recommended another artist who is more able to execute a thin line band, I would really have appreciated it.
I've seen other tattoos that Heidi has done that are fine. But mine is a train wreck.
I walked in about a year ago for a small piece and I have been back several times since. This is a great shop! Heidi is awesome, and just did an amazing tattoo on my calf. She also tattooed my husband a few months back and it looks great. I have many tattoos and would highly recommend this shop- the artists are friendly and very talented, the shop is bright and comfortable and the prices are totally reasonable for the quality of work.
Review Source:The extremely talented Jason Calvert has now given me two of the MOST beautiful traditional profile tattoos EVER. The colors are rich and vibrant, shading perfect and the lines are clean and have held up better than any other tattoo I have received. Â I get compliments on a daily basis. The entire shop is fantastic and I have seen the most amazing tattoos come out of it (by Jason and others). Â Jason made me feel comfortable and at home every time and is super easy to be around and talk too, which is SO important when you are spending hours getting tattooed (only comfortable silences, no awkward) Â I will be traveling up from LA to get tattooed by him in the future, and I can not recommend this shop enough. Best in Seattle.
Review Source:So I've since left the Emerald City, but on a recent trip to visit some friends, I decided to get another tattoo here, by Jason. This one is my favorite thus far, and I've gotten many, many compliments on it. The shading is awesome, and it flows oh-so-beautifully.
This shop is full of talented artists, definitely stop by and check them out :)
About two months and a half ago, I purchased Zelda Skyward Sword. I've been waiting forever for that game, but I didn't have spare time to play it due to school and work! I've fought hard from opening the package and I couldn't stop thinking about saving my princess Zelda. Then one day, I decided to get a tattoo, something Zelda related and small. I brainstormed for a few hours, told my dad to write down my Hylian name, knocked out, woke up, equip myself with a mac and went to Ganondorf's castle. After I kicked his ass with an empty bottle a chest appeared. Da-da-da-da I acquired a iphone dungeon map. But before I go, I had to visit the great deku tree for guidance on my Hylian name. The deku tree told me the history of the Hylians and recommended me to keep it 8-bit, so I agreed. I whipped out my iphone dungeon map, which came with a compass(yelp) and stumbled upon lucky devil.
I entered the shop alone, like the brave hero that I am and met Eric Eye. Eric Eye was available at that time, so I took out my mac and show him what I wanted. He mixed my red and green potion in photoshop and created the ultimate blue potion. I put down $20 rupees to hold the design, signed my heart away and told him I'll be back with more rupees because I didn't know this place takes rupees only! So I sold some fishes to a begger(ATM machine) and returned. I had enough rupees and he sold me the ultimate blue potion, which reveals the Triforce on my arm.
After a few months of battle, my body was getting weary...but Eric Eye said I could come back for a touch up, which I did today and he prepared me a guardian potion that will forever give me the courage, power and wisdom. :D
Lucky Devil really deserves 5 stars after I got my first tattoo done which I absolutely love. Â When I walked in, I thought I would be uncomfortable because I was by myself and had no tattoo experience. Â But the front staff was really friendly. Â The tattoo artist I had was gentle and very patient with me, and making sure I could take a break if I felt too much pain, and since I did not go to other tattoo shops to compare prices, I thought mine was fair. Â Thank you Lucky Devil!!!!!
Review Source:My first encounter with Lucky Devil was for a portrait of my dog and I sought out Eric Eye to do this for me. He was absolutely fantastic and replicated the picture I gave him absolutely perfectly. He is the nicest guy and told me stories about his dogs and had a portrait of his dog displayed in his space, which was really cute. I have a few other friends that have been tattooed by him and everyone loves him as much as I do. I have also been tattooed by Jerad Shealey, who has since left the shop, and my experience with him was equally good. We had quite a bit of banter going back and forth and he kept me laughing the whole time. I always recommend this shop and all of the artists are extremely talented.
Review Source:Lynn has been my ONLY artist in Seattle. Â People stop me on the streets all over to ask me where I have gotten my work done. Â She did a fantastic job on all my pieces. Â Some of my artwork was original design by Lynn and some were pieces that I brought to her and asked her to fine tune before putting on my body. Â I am thrilled with all of them. Â When we wanted to do a piece with lots of color and worried about how my skin would absorb the color, Lynn ordered new ink to try. Â It worked like magic! She cares about her clients and the work she does. Â It shows in the ink.
Review Source:The artists are all very personable, knowledgeable, accommodating, talented, and overall great. Very good shop, better tattoos, but those speak for themselves. I got my second top-of-the foot tattoo here (hobbes the tiger) and even though it was bigger and took longer than Calvin, the overall experience was much more comfortable and enjoyable than the last that I'd had. My artist Chad talked me through basically everything I wanted to know and more.
Review Source:This review is for Ricky, who I've heard no longer works there (this was last year)...
Ricky was awesome! He was receptive, ridiculously fast, and did clean work for a great price. Normally I wouldn't say fast is necessarily a good thing, you don't want someone rushing through what will be permanently on your body. But fast is great if it comes out perfect! (Which it did) Sad to hear Ricky is no longer at Lucky Devil, but I would be happy to come back there in the future based on my positive first experience.... Or maybe I'll track him down... : )
I really love tattoos, and even find a certain amount of (admittedly sick :) satasfaction in getting them done. What I don't like is obnoxious macho settings and obnoxious macho people. This has harshed many a needle high my friends.
Then I found Lucky Devil and Chad.
Chad is super skilled, had tons of awesome input to give on my design and is super laid back and chill--the exact opposite of the testosterone nightmares who have driven me out of other shops. Call me crazy, but I like to like the guy who is going to be digging at my skin with a needle for hours on end, especially if he's going to do it on my sternum...
....oh god the sternum.
Oh yeah, my chest piece is BEAUTIFUL, and I had fun working out the design with him. He took a lot of time getting things just right and seemed to be passionate about tattooing--something I like in a guy who is gonna, you know, tattoo me.
The moral of the story?
Tattooing is painful, but interacting with your artist doesn't have to be. Go to Lucky Devil.
Eric Eye, check him out. Â He is a genius with a needle. Â He is open, friendly and informative. Â He throws out great ideas, has a knack for helping to pick bright, bold colors, or advising one to stick to black and grey. Â Either way, Eric Eye is fantastic at what he does. Â He did my side, as well as one of my arms, and have a chest piece in the works as well.
As long as I am in Seattle, and plan on getting tattooed, I won't go to anyone other than Eric Eye. Â Great price, great artist and all around a cool dude.
Chad! :-))) Â He popped my tat cherry and did me again a few times after, too. Â
He's gentle, kind, and patient, which is what every girl hopes from her "first." Â Plus, he looks like a young Eddie Vedder, but cuter.
In all seriousness, I found Lucky Devil here on Yelp, and am so glad I chose this shop. Â It's what you would expect from a tattoo shop: interesting things to look at, loud music (maybe a bit too loud; ok, a lot too loud). Â But what I didn't expect was how friendly people would be. Â
I've recommended Lucky Devil and Chad to two of my friends, and both had equally good experiences.
this review is years in the making.
Eric Eye is my first and only person I have ever gone to for my one and only tattoo. He stole my willingly given tattoo virginity, was super friendly, and my tattoo, like everyone else, has special meaning to me. Â He helped make it special, and that is what I love the most.
Eric I still pack your card in my wallet and I am still dreaming of my next tattoo... when I settle on what I want, I AM coming back. You made my first experience worth the years of fear of needles to get what I wanted done. You made me feel exceptionally comfortable, and you made my tattoo beautiful for me.
Thank you for helping me try to get over a long lasting fear, and providing me with a whole new outlet to express myself. Everyone who asks who has done my one and only tattoo, I send your way.
Now it is time for more.
Thank you, I really can not say that enough, thank you thank you thaaaank you!!!!
After checking out reviews on tons of tattoo parlors, I had narrowed it down to Hidden Hand and Lucky Devil. A friend informed me that he gets all of his tattoos done by Eric Eye at Lucky Devil - so it was settled.
The work I was having done was very simple, I wanted a personal design done on my left forearm, it didn't require much artistic input from Eric other than "Yes, it's definitely do-able at that size!"
I know these types of tattoos are generally boring for an artist, but I got absolutely no attitude from Eric. I made him move the stencil around a few times...and his comment was, "take as much time as you need, it will be on you forever."
I highly recommend him, and Lucky Devil as a whole.
I just realized that its been years and I've never written a review about this place. I wish I would of done some research before getting my first tattoo but I've heard some good things about Lucky Devil. I just didn't know there was two of them. This is the location where I got my tattoo 4 years ago by Lynn. I am defiantly scarred for life. Tattoo was pretty simple but she went too deep into my skin. She was also pretty bad at shading in colors so I basically had a black outline of the design and then colored in like a coloring book. Worst mistake that I have to live with for the rest of my life. It was so scarred that laser removal wasn't even possible so I had to tattoo a very very dark rose over it. So beware... I heard the other artist are good though so remember to check their portfolio of previous work done.
Review Source:I walked in here one day in March of '08 before I moved to California to get a piece I had done a couple years before that colored in. I don't remember who I had but they took me back right away after I told them an idea of what I wanted and he made it even better than I had expected. I'm also a little afraid of needles and was expecting a lot of pain like I had when I got the outline done at another shop, but it just was a light pressure and actually went numb after a few minutes and I wasn't nervous at all. We chatted a bit and it was a little cheaper than I had expected it to be, so I was very happy and tipped him nicely. Now, almost 3 years later I still have people asking me if it's a recent tattoo! I love that! I'm going to be getting another tattoo sometime this year and will definitely be coming back to Lucky Devil.
Review Source:My sister in law came here when the other shop was closed. Lynn was her artist. This design that my sister wanted was very unique and took a lot of attention to detail. Somewhere along the line she completely f---ked it . My sister in law had to walk out with a huge mistake that now needs to be fixed. Unless u have some easy tatt that anyone can do then fine go to them. But if u care to have a truly classic tatt with care do not use Lynn.
Review Source:Trying to choose the right tattoo parlor can be a daunting task. I was looking for a parlor and an artist that I felt comfortable with after my "artist" moved away. I visited over a dozen shops before I came across Lucky Devil Tattoo. I decided to check them out after seeing the beautiful work a co-worker had done there; a very detailed and very large owl from her waist to her rib cage. Since my next tattoo was also avian in nature, I took a look through some of the artists' online sample and found someone who was perfect for the style that I was looking for.
As I said before, the parlor is just as important as the artist himself. At least for me; the vibe and the feel of the place can reveal the demeanor of the employees, and who really wants to feel unsafe with someone holding a tattoo gun and ink? To my delight the artist I was hoping to speak to was working the reception desk. I showed him my sample drawing and explained what I wanted, told him that he was the artist I was looking for and he in turn scheduled me in for that Saturday. This was a Thursday and I was delighted that I didn't have to wait a week or more!
The day came, the work was done in the quoted time and it looked, and still does look, absolutely beautiful. I would share the name of the artist but I truly feel that any of the talented employees at Lucky Devil are worth your trust and time. At least take a look at their samples at the store and see who fits your style the best. I spoke with several of them while I was waiting for my appointment and they are all great guys who take their art seriously while having fun doing what they love to do.
I really loved this place. Â I used to live right by it so we thought we would check it out when a good friend was on a tattoo getting mission. Â It was a Friday night so we knew that the chances of getting a walk-in were pretty slim. Â We went to about 7 different places and all of them were such douche bags EXCEPT Lucky Devil. Â They were the only shop that didn't have a condescending staff. Â They were so friendly in fact that I decided to also schedule an appointment. Â The next day I met with Lynn and she was great! Â Super friendly and really worked with me to get my vision out. Â I now have my great country mouse and city mouse that I'd been wanting for so long.
Review Source:I've been going to Lucky Devil & getting tattooed by the amazing & super badical Eric Eye for about 4 years now & I can't imagine going anywhere else. Eric is the wind beneath my tattooed wings & one of the most radtastical dudes ever. His work is flawless & the epitome of perfection.
In fact, EVERYONE who works at Lucky Devil is awesome! They're seriously the raddest bunch of people & I feel extremely fortunate to not only get my tattoos there but to also consider them my friends.
I'm constantly stopped & complimented on my tattoos (which is AWESOME!) & I love being able to tell people to go to Lucky Devil because it's honestly the most awesometacular tattoo shop ever ever ever in the history of everything.
VIVA LUCKY DEVIL !!!!!
As others have said... getting someone to pay attention to you can be a bit daunting. You do tend to get ignored, which is pretty shitty.
HOWEVER; Derek is a fucking brilliant tattoo artist. As far as my thigh piece and the pieces he's done on my friends, you explain to him what you want, and somehow... magically... when you come back to see the drawing, he's done EXACTLY what you never knew you wanted. It's incredible. He can take what's in your head and turn it into something far more beautiful than you ever thought! I am so happy with the piece I got... and the price was not bad at all for what I got... though I think that may have had something to do with the fact that I fell asleep while getting tattooed as opposed to 2 other people in the shop wincing and grunting and making a scene...
I got a really awesome tattoo a few years ago at another establishment. Â Unfortunately, my artist moved away to Hawaii. Â Searching for a new artist is always a pain, but a friend of mine recommended Lucky Devil. Â I walked in and looked through all the books and decided Eric had the style I was looking for. Â He's since added onto my existing (and in-progress) half sleeve and it looks AMAZING! Â I've given him ideas for what I wanted and he made them even better.
Lucky Devil isn't a shop you can walk into on a Friday night with no appointment to get a tattoo you'll regret the next morning. Â The artists are booked and for good reason. Â Additionally, you won't find the snobbery you find at MANY (*Super cough Genius cough*) other tattoo places around Seattle. Â Everyone's really helpful and they don't make you feel like a moron for asking questions.
" I apologize for his behavior, it was something that was noticed and was dealt with. He no longer works for us. Â Hoping that you might reconsider your rating, as I feel everyone we have at the shop now is very friendly and helpful (as you can see by all of our other reviews). But in either case I definitely want to apologize for Joe's behavior. He ended up being very unfriendly."
Got this from a dude called Eric Eye. Â I figure he has a point either way; I wrote my original in 2007 and I'm not even local to Seattle anymore.. so I can't actually give them a fair shake and reevaluate. Â No point holding a grudge publicly against a dude I encountered years ago. Â So I leave it at "neutral" assuming this is all the case and ok to post. ;)
I am NOT the type of person you'd expect to get a tattoo, but recently I decided to take the plunge and start shopping around for a good parlor. Other Yelp folks spoke highly of Lucky Devil, so I decided to send them an email to see if they could fit me in anytime soon. I got a call back within a day or two from one of the artists (Chad, praised a lot already in reviews for this place), and after chatting for a minute or two about what I wanted, he set me up with an appointment for the next weekend.
I initially felt a little out of place walking through the door (got a couple funny looks from the heavily tattooed guys in the shop), but as soon as I met Chad, he put me right at ease. He was extremely friendly, encouraging, and professional during the entire process, and, knowing it was my first tattoo, took extra care to explain in detail every step of the process and exactly why each step was necessary. He had even set up a chair in advance for my moral support (i.e. best friend who already has a couple tattoos), and didn't object at all to her being there.
Overall, awesome experience. A little intimidating to walk into, especially if it's pretty obvious you're getting your first, but my piece is fantastic, and if I decide to get another, I'd definitely consider coming back to Lucky Devil.
My girlfriend found the shop via yelp, and we decided to get tattoos as a summer project. We had been to slave to the needle twice before and had left pretty underwhelmed so convincing me to try a new place wasn't very hard. From the moment we walked into Lucky Devil we were treated like people rather than the next pay check.
Jason Calvert was excited to hear what we wanted and took the time to draw designs that fit what we wanted and were reasonable to tattoo. He was even kind enough to take an extra day to re-draw a portion of my design because neither of us were completely satisfied.
A few reviewers have said that it is a bit pricey, but consider the fact that a tattoo is forever. A good tattoo isn't cheap and a cheap tattoo isn't good. My GF's tattoo took 6.5 hours and mine took 5 hours. We are more than satisfied with the work done by Jason and we will be going back for our next tattoo project.
I wouldn't go anywhere else. This shop rules, so much that I'm there just to hang out like a nerd constantly. Everyone is super friendly and super talented. I get tattooed by Jesse and I pretty much poop my pants in excitement everytime he shows me what he has drawn up for me. I just got a full sleeve outlined by him and I can't stop looking at it and showing it off. The linework is perfect, amazingly detailed, and he did it all in only 3 hours! He took my vague idea "you know, uh, the Dionne quints and some fuchsia flowers" and turned it into a true work of art. I have the smallest skinniest baby arms in the world and he somehow got everything to fit and not look cluttered or smushed together. I couldn't be happier. Jesse is the shit.

I went back to Derek Noble and Lucky Devil in May to get the opposite of Athena. Â This time I wanted Hello Kitty. Â Even though I'm sure some artists would have not taken a cartoon so seriously, Derek made it perfect (photo is in my profile pics). Â He also made a good judgement call about not filling her in with white (it yellows over time) and instead added a halo of color to create contrast. Â While I was there, I had two of the stars he did last year touched up for free as promised. Â There's a new guy in the shop too. Â Only reason I'm not giving 5 Stars is because I don't think everyone there is equally talented.
Review Source:BEST TATTOO EVER!!!!
Ok, so I have been pondering a tattoo for probably half of my 30 years on this planet. And I actually do have a small one on my ankle that I did myself back in my teens with india ink and a needle, but I digress. I just decided to do it, I had the design I wanted, and chose this place because of close proximity to home, and good yelping overall. I came in late on Sunday afternoon, and Lynn helped me, she made a copy of my drawing, and added some additional details for me. And seriously at this point, I was terrified, I really was sure Id scream and get up and run (like a certain root canal a few years ago). So she puts the design on, I lay down, and shes REALLY nice, and she says, "I'm just going to do a small line so you can get a feel for it" and I hear the buzz, and she says "how is it?" and I'm like 'are you SERIOUS?" Pain was basically non existent. The outline was a 1 or 2 and at times all I could feel was the buzzing, the shading was at worst "moderate discomfort". Also Lynn is super friendly, and we were able to talk a bit....plus my tattoo is EXACTLY what I wanted. I will definitely be back.
One of the things on my bucket list was to get a tattoo...so for my recent birthday, I decided to take the plunge and get what I have been wanting done for awhile. I was fortunate they were able to take a walk-in and I was immediately placed with an artist mentioned here many times...Chad...
Chad did an amazing job (even my tattoo loving friends were raving) and he paid so much attention to the details. He was incredibly friendly and professional. He made sure that I was comfortable with what I was getting done and took the extra time to make sure I was ok...I was incredibly jittery and I have an insane fear of needles (bad combo I know!) but he made me feel very relaxed about it all.
Great price and well worth the money...If I only had something else to compare it to, I'd give it 5 stars!
The best tattoo I have ever had done. A few  years ago I went in to have 3 simple X's, that got complicated. I wanted color and design in side the X's and the artist who I'm pretty sure was Chad, did an exceptional job. I've had other tats at places that were ok nothing exciting but this was worth the $75 I payed. I will be going there again in July for a wedding ring tat i promised my wife on our 10th wedding anniv!
Review Source:I walked into Lucky Devil late on a Saturday evening and asked if they could take a walk-in. Immediately, they found me an artist and began chatting with me about what I wanted. My tattoo wasn't super-detailed, just three words of text, but with some special shading requirements to make it more unique.
My artist, Chad, was the absolute best I have ever dealt with. He was friendly, professional, and showed genuine concern for his customer's wishes. He also ended up charging me much less than his quoted price when the tattoo got done quicker than he anticipated. He spent a good 10 minutes explaining after-care procedures and his good nature during the tattoo made it very easy to relax.
I really loved the shop, the vibe and I expect to go back for more work when I'm ready. I especially liked the fact that this shop did not do piercings. Clearly they were artists focused on tattoing and had a passion for it, not just a tattoo shop who wanted to follow the trend and make an extra buck by doing piercings as well.
Take a chance here, you might just be a Lucky Devil.
I got a tattoo touched up at Lucky Devil a few weeks ago by Chad. He was friendly & professional. The place has a lot of interesting artwork, which is a little on the gory side, but I guess that's the predominant style for tattoo artists. In spite of that, the place is immaculate. Chad took a lot of care to explain how to care for my tattoo afterward.
The work he did wasn't super-complex, but he did a bang-up job, and he was cool to work with. I've heard some places are pretentious, but Chad was very down-to-earth. He was also really nice about letting me decide how much touch-up work to do, and didn't push me to do anything extra even tho it would have meant more money for him. I don't know what the going rate for tattoos is, but Chad charged me the shop minimum, ($65) so that was cool, too.
I went in today and got a tattoo and luckily I went when they could take walk ins. I got in right away. Yay. I had a couple fonts with me but I looked through the book that they gave me and I found one that I liked more. I wanted to add a few stars around the writing and my friend sketched it out really quick and we showed it to Ricky who quickly made a sketch and he understood what we were saying. It came out really good. He worked quickly and it was over before I knew it! It came out clear and neat and just what I wanted. This was my first tattoo and I had a really good experience. I like the atmosphere, easy parking, and quick work. I think  will be back probably for another tattoo. Thanks Lucky Devil.
Review Source:i was there about an hour ago and got my first tattoo from jared.
the staff is really friendly. jared was really helpful and gave good, honest feedback and suggestions about what i wanted. i had a lot of questions about the process and jared gave honest answers for each. he made sure i was comfortable under the needle and kept checking up on me to make sure i was ok. afterwards, he gave me lots of advice on how to care for the area affected.
return rate is a good metric for judging services. i would go back to jared and lucky devil in a heartbeat.
I had a good first tattoo experience here. Not pretentious as people say a lot of tattoo shops are. It was clean and there were a lot of things to look at to distract myself.
I was able to walk in on a week day and Lynn had a canceled appointment and fit me in right then. I showed her a font that I liked and she put her own spin on it and free handed some text for my inner forearm. After resizing to make it just right we started right away. It was very quick and she had a good touch, not really painful at all. She had a good attitude and did a really nice job. Price was reasonable and I don't mind paying a little more if it means I get a nicer product, especially in the case of a tattoo.
I will probably head back to this shop for my next one.
This place is clean and the people are very nice and approachable.. Not like some other tattoo shops where the receptionist are bitchy.
If you want to get a badass piece of work done, come here. All the tattooist are great!
If this is your first tattoo, or your 10th, maybe even a cover up, GO TO RICKY!!
I'd come if you have an appointment already, smoother that way
prices are pretty expensive but a poster on their wall says it all.. "A cheap tattoo aint good, and a good tattoo aint cheap!"
Note: this shop no longer does piercings, and i also didnt have the honor of having Chuck, though she now has her own shop, Pierced Hearts Tattoo, on Roosevelt.
I went here to get my ears re-pierced. I had a bunch of scar tissue from earlier years, so I was concerned about whether or not I could have needle put through them. I had a gal, I believe her name was Erica (shes at Laughing Buddha now). While she was polite and professional, she had a bit of rock star attitude; hence the 3 star instead of 4. Very clean, decent pricing.
I am going to preface this by saying that I have never gotten a tattoo there, but many piercings over the years. My piercer was Chuck (who I believe is no longer there, hence the dropping of a star). She was always super compassionate and gentle, even with jabbing. Extremely clean, very professional, funny, knowledgeable, and genuinely concerned about what you have to say.
She has my undying loyalty for how classy she was giving me my apadravia back in the day. I think she did 10 for me over the years, and I've never regretted giving her my business.
Lucky Devil: the only people in Seattle I'd let near me with a needle.
Got my (limited) piercings done here, and not only do the staff know what they're doing, the way they interact with customers is everything you could hope for.
I'm particularly prone to having issues with scarring and bad healing, so it really impressed me how willing they were to talk me through aftercare, give a lot of suggestions, and welcome me to come back for help if I had problems.
Here's what really convinced me of their awesomeness, though:
I also took my aunt, who is in her late 50s, very nervous and very traditional, here to get her ears pierced. Subcultures and body mods freak her out. The staff at Lucky Devil made her so comfortable, and I think it was a really good experience for her. I would never have thought it possible, but they pulled it off.
I recently got my 2nd tattoo at Lucky Devil. Â The first was my "starter" one, this was to be a real one. Â I had a basic idea of what I wanted, a 1/4 sleeve Japanese Koi. Â I had done lots of research, looking at all of the local tattoo artist books. Â When I got to LD and saw Jesse's book, I knew he was the one. Â I can't say enough about how awesome his work is. Â He is a true artist who created a design for me that was amazing, even better than I had hoped. Â His attention to detail and color is amazing. Â His design work was awesome. Â After 8 hours and three sittings, I got a tattoo that was perfect. Â Sure I had to wait a few months to get my appointment, sure it cost a lot, sure it hurt...but the end result was totally worth it.
Review Source:I've had a lot of friends get work done here from different artists, and for my 5th piece I decided to come here since my other Artist had moved away.
The people that work here are nice, informative, and it was all around a great experiecnce.
Chad Ronilo is awesome, he squeezed me in, took his time making my piece perfect. So perfect that everyone still asks (7 months later) if it just got done. I have one more piece that I'm getting done and he'll definitely be the one I go to.
Thanks Lucky Devil & Chad!
guys there are total d bags. Â over priced and snobs. Â i hate tattoo snobs that have arms full of wall art tattoos. Â p.s. dont go before noon, even though they are open. Â they have to have their morning cigarette before they can even help you. Â btw, they can take their 120/hr and use it to wash themselves.
Review Source:my friend was getting her 3rd tat for her birthday. seeing as i have been thinking of getting one of my own, i decided to go along as her moral support/hand holding partner while getting a feel of what and how long the process could take.
my friend had wanted to go to slave to the needle, where she got the other two done, but it was full and we ended up at lucky devil instead.
the girl that d talked with had been really informative on the phone. we walked in, got immediately helped and lynn (i believe) really took the time and patience to resize the tatt many times until it was just right.
after taking time to prep she made really quick work. my friend got the tat on her inside ankle (ouch) but lynn was quick and-even with coloring and everything, she made it look so easy and fast-it was amazing.
the whole thing probably took 20 minutes at most, and the end product was exactly what my friend had wanted. probably even a little better.
lynn was also really great about explaining how to care for it-and very friendly. she told my friend to come back for a touch up on some spots due to the nature of the tatt in a couple of weeks if needed.
all in all very accessible and friendly.
the price was also very reasonable. parking was pretty easy to find-and i was impressed with the whole affair.
i know if i actually do end up getting a tattoo, lucky devil's lynn is who i would like to go to.
So to commemorate a big birthday this year, I decided to finally experience some artwork on my back skin. Â I first went to Slave to the Needle and they were quick to say that my design, my kamon or Japanese family crest, was not a good tattoo design. Â I got the feeling they didn't want to do the tattoo. Â
I gave up for a few days, figuring that maybe it just wasn't meant to be. Â Then on a whim I walked in to Lucky Devil just to get a second opinion. Â My first impression wasn't great. Â I stood in there for about five minutes before being acknowledged. Â But lucky for me, Ricky said he could definitely do the tattoo, no problem. Â I set up an appointment for a week later.
I went in on Friday and gritted my teeth and ended up walking out with the perfect design on my body. Â Just what I wanted. Â Ricky was kind and didn't make me feel bad for being such a whimp. Â Seriously, that sh*t hurts! Â He gave me some easy after-care tips and said I could come back if I needed a touch-up. Â
Then the icing on the cake was when Ricky charged me $20 less than he originally quoted because it didn't take as long as he'd originally thought. Â What a sweetie. Â Thanks Ricky, I love my new tattoo!
Though the way the business and it's employees treat their customers is very important, my primary concern was to get the best tattoo I could for the best price, period. That's what I got from Jesse.
My first and only tattoo was done by Jesse Roberts. When I find another design I love, I will definitely go back to him. Â
He was nice, helpful, and I felt confident from viewing his portfolio that he was the right person for the job (this is after searching through books and books of hardly mediocre work by some other local artists).
His appointment wait was about a month and a half at the time, but it was well worth the wait. Total time in shop was about 3 hours, 2 of which were under the needle. He was gentle and didn't mess it up at all. Plus is cost less than anticipated (more tips for him)! I have received so many compliments on his linework I can't keep track. I have also recommended him to countless others and some of my friends have gone to him, too. Thanks, Jesse!
Oh, one more thing! They have an impressive collection of vintage Halloween/devils/black cats decorating the shop. I played "I Spy" during my tattoo session to pass the time: "Hm, I spy...25 devils with curly moustaches and 10 black cats sitting under the moon".
Years ago, a delightful girl named Chuck pierced my belly button at Lucky Devil, and did my best friend's right after mine. Â She was awesome, I barely felt it, and thanks to her instructions on suctioning a warmed shot glass of salt water over it, it never even turned red. Â She also didn't laugh at us when we wanted to take pictures of this adventure, and gave us lollipops upon piercing completion.
Review Source:Great service and definitely recommended if you're getting inked for the first time. The entire venue gave off a very comforting feeling. So much so that I fell asleep on the table. Before I knew it, I was awake and done. Kind of bummed since I missed the whole thing.
Make sure you do your homework beforehand. That script that you saw on someone else may very well mean something completely different than what you may have planned for. I couldn't help but overhear the conversation within earshot. Remember that these artists only know so much - which is still quite a bit. The authenticity and accuracy of the samples you present are your own responsibility.
