I went in here to get a tattoo of a mythological dragon/serpent around my tattoo over a year ago. The experience was average. The artist who did was nice and got the job done. Nothing really memorable.
However, it's been a little over a year and the ink has already faded to a greyish green. It's not bad enough to the point where I have to get it redone but I think it might get to that point in another year or two (which really pisses me off considering it was an expensive one). Also, some of the details have become murky (the slit eye is now filled up). I have not gained or lost any weight nor have I gotten any injury in that area that would alter the image. I have other tattoos that are older with smaller holes and details that are still amazing today. There is no reason I could come up with for this tattoo to behave the way it did except the lack of expertise of the artist and the poor quality of the ink.
Wouldn't recommend this place. The tattoo will be fine when you first get it but it won't remain fine for a long time.
I got my first tattoo here for my birthday gift. The tattoo i wanted was of a car part and I wanted it to have a technical drawing look. The shop referred Bryan to me and I was very pleased with the result. Turns out he worked in the auto industry as a designer which was absolutely perfect since the idea for the tattoo was originally designed in unigraphics. He was really cool and the everything turned out better then I expected.
Review Source:I went in a week prior to get a consultation. Came back with a friend to get inked. My artist was Johnny Wheastraw. Absolutely loved him. Â I handpicked him myself based on his artwork. My appointment was at 3 I ended up getting out at around 5ish. Â I got a pretty decent sized/detailed tattoo on my foot. I am so happy with it.
I didn't come across anyone rude and everyone was so down to earth and chill. Â I highly recommend this place if you're looking for some ink.
I was once an employee here before moving to California & I was very impressed how this shop operates! Very Comfortable environment for artists & clients. The current tattoo artists are very talented & offer a wide range of diversity. The 2 counter guys were very helpful & friendly.
Check out the newest Artist Mandy, her work is AMAZING!

Lucky Monkey is an awesome shop, and really under rated in my opinion. I had an awesome experience. I had an old tat on my shoulder that I've been trying to get covered up with something that actually has meaning to me, for years. I've seen 4 different tattoo artists, 2 of them in Ann Arbor at different shops, and no one wanted to do it. I saw Brian Massey at Lucky Monkey and right on the spot he said he could do it. It looks amazing. Cover ups are not easy, from what I had been told by every other shop in the area. You can't even tell I ever had something else there. Now I have this amazing tat, and will def be going back there for more in the next few months. The place was clean, the guys were nice, the prices were great. It healed super fast too, and wasn't even that scabby - which obviously means the guy did a really great job.
Review Source:My boyfriend and I got tattooed last summer by Jesse and we are very disappointed. He provided poor customer service to begin with, and we should have left at that point. Our tatts have not healed well; my boyfriend's tatt is already faded and difficult to see the design. We both have tatts from other artists, so we are familiar with the process. Now I'm having trouble finding a good artist who is willing to touch up someone else's work. My advice: if you get negative vibes from an artist, find someone else!
Review Source:Recently-married friends of mine were looking to get a tattoo somewhere in Ann Arbor. Â I have always gone to Infinite Art Tattoo in Toledo so I didn't have much along the lines of recommendation but told them to go here. Â
They had made an appointment for 5 o clock. Â We walked in at about 5 minutes early and there were no customers inside. Â After a couple minutes an employee comes from the back. Â The shop was pretty clean and I was impressed actually at first. Â That's the only positive I can see here.
The artist who has going to do the tattoo said he hadn't eaten lunch and was going to get a pizza nearby. Â My first thought was, "really?" Â My friends were very understanding and patient, I was not. Â The artists here were so completely unprofessional. Â They went and got their pizza, brought it back and began eating it in the shop. Â After making my friends wait for 1/2 hour+, he gave them their tattoos in the front area of the shop, not even in a private room (granted they were wrist tattoos, but still).
The employees seemed to find the whole thing really funny and said they were giving my friends a deal. Â After this experience I will NEVER go here again, not even to support others. Â Go somewhere else where the shop is run by professionals who have more than an ounce of respect for their customers.
My friend and I just got tattoos done at Lucky Monkey a week ago. Â Of course we picked the week that MI got dumped on with snow but I digress. Â She got a back design that Chad, the artist, drew on himself. Â I got a rib piece that was awesome done by Corey Cuc. Â They both did an awesome job and I know that I am loving my new tattoo. Â The shop is very clean and both artists stations were kept clean as well. Â While they were drawing up our tattoos they were checking to make sure it was actually what we wanted. Â Like I said I am really impressed with my tattoo and I know my friend loves hers as well. Â I would highly recommend Lucky Monkey to anyone looking to get a tattoo in the Ann Arbor area.
Review Source:Well, I only have one tattoo on my body and this was the place it was done. At first I wasn't happy with their service. I designed my own tattoo and went up there to see if they could ink it. The guy said he could and gave me a day to come back. Well, when I went back...they were closed or something stupid. Either way, I was upset because I finally got my nerves up to get it done, and I couldn't. :-( I talked to them the next day, and they apologized for whatever inconvenience, and actually charged me less for the tattoo. The final product I was happy with. I also agree that they are very clean and sticklers for doing things the right way. You gotta appreciate that!
Review Source:pros:
-they're sticklers for the rules, which is good if you don't want to get a disease
-they're clean
-no flash... all of the tattoos are custom drawn
-more advanced in terms of equipment... they have all the new, cool stuff.
cons:
-they're sticklers for the rules, which is bad if your under 18 and want anything done, whether or not you have a consenting parent/guardian.
-pretty bad customer service.
i got a nose piercing there... i'm not very happy with the placement, she got gauze stuck and it hurt really badly to get it out, and i have no idea how to change it. Â they were also pretty rude and snotty. i'd recommend going elsewhere for your body art enhancement needs.
Honestly, I'm so glad that there are some decent reviews here because I had the worst experience at this place. Â I came in on a random Saturday afternoon and there was only one guy working (I wish I could remember his name). Â He was a pretty big jerk as far as customer service went, and didn't really care about me or the tattoo I wanted. Â I'm not sure why I stuck around, because he clearly thought my tattoo idea was stupid (and you could tell he felt that way from his facial expression and comments). Â
He drew up a quick sketch, and because of the simplicity of what I wanted, it seemed alright. Â He said that he could do the colors I wanted, but midway through the tattooing, he told me that it would be impossible with my skin tone (what?? Â isn't this something we should have discussed before the needle was fired up?). Â He also happened to get some ink on his pants during my actual tattoo, which he seemed much more concerned about than the permanent inking that was currently occurring! Â I was mortified, but it was half way done at this point.
All in all, I like the tattoo I got (it is really simple) but in no way did the tattoo artist make me feel comfortable and good about what I was doing. Â I would never suggest this place to anyone.
Two of my friends just got nose piercings from here. Actually we didn't know anyone who got anything pierced from here but we had passed by it a few times. So my friends decided to stop in.
What sold them was how very clean this place was. A women named Sarah pierced my friends and it was impressive how she changed her disposable gloves frequently. Definitely made you feel safe. The staff was experienced and patient.
This was over a week ago and neither of my friends have had any complications. Just exactly what they wanted cute little nose rings.
I got my nose pierced here a year ago. Â
* The place is clean, almost clinical back where the piercing is done.
* The staff is knowledgeable, and highly professional. Â I really liked the woman who did my piercing; she seems to know what she's talking about, not only in terms of the trade itself but also the various health consequences of body modification. Â I think this is of paramount importance for people who seek any form of body modification. Â As a health professional student, my experience is that there aren't many health professionals who understand it very well. Â It's important to have someone who can tell you how to take care of yourself to avoid infection and other side-effects.
Anyway, I liked it here, and would recommend it.
