I am SO stoked on this place. I had heard about it a couple times from friends who had work done so I definitely wanted to get a little ink while I was in town. I stopped in yesterday afternoon and spoke with Mike about a little tattoo idea I had in mind to fill in a gap on my sleeve. He drew something up for me but told me that he honestly thought that it would be too small for people to understood what it was. He helped me come up with a better, similar piece and redrew it.
He did the piece in a timely manner and had a light touch. The lines are super clean and the shading is perfect. He added extra detail that I wouldn't normally expect on such a little tattoo. We talked about other ideas for the rest of my arm and I can't wait to come back and get more work done by mike. He was professional, friendly and most importantly, didn't let me get a tattoo I wouldn't love so he could make some extra cash. Huge win in my book!
The shop is clean, plays good music and is filled with talent. I would recommend coming here if you're looking for good work and professional tattooists!
Great place. Â Great artists. Â I went in having a general idea of what I wanted and the staff at nightmare were patient enough with me to help me being my thoughts together through bouncing ideas back between each other and myself. Â The end result is my favourite of all my tattoos, best part is that it was done in a relaxed place from not just an awesome artist, but an awesome person.
Review Source:This is a long awaited review. I got my very first tattoo with Mike. He was really funny and comforting throughout the whole process even though I had 5 of my friends holding my hand and watching as he did my tattoo (yes, I'm one of those people). I couldn't have hoped for a better turnout.The only reason I docked a point was because I went back in hopes of getting another tattoo from him and I was not greeted very nicely. He did not seem like he wanted my business. It could have been that I caught him on a bad day. I moved back to San Francisco but if I was ever back in Reno for a while I would go back and give him another try.
Review Source:Mark is an amazing tattoo artist. I'm so stoked that he moved to Reno. I used to see him in Carson City. He is the only person that I will let tattoo me. He did a cover up for me on my upper back that turned out better than I could have hoped for. On top of that, he's very light handed and tattoos from him don't hurt at all (I've been to five different artists before I found him). He is phenomenal!

I bring all my friends who want tattoo's to him and my mom wouldn't let my brother get tattooed by anyone else, because she has seen his work and knows he is one of the best. I'm getting my third tattoo done this Sunday by Tony, and I will continue to see him for all of my future ones. I strongly suggest checking out Nightmare Studios, very professional and clean work!
Review Source:Nightmare Studios first opened their doors in 2006 at the corner of Plumas/California. After a brief run there, and an opportunity to expand their clientele, they relocated to 888 S. Virginia (on Nov. 1, 2006), at the corner of Virginia and Taylor.
Since they've moved, the building has been the conduit for a number of amazing artists, incredible pieces, and loyal customers. The reputation that Nightmare has built speaks for itself when you see the work that Mike, Brandon, Mark, Tony, and Gonz do for their customers.
Sure I'm a slight bit jaded when it comes to this place, as I've had a NUMBER of my pieces done here, but don't let that be the reason for you to see for yourself. Make an appointment soon, 324-0666, or if you're in the neighborhood, drop in and check out the portfolios.
