I just went to get my second tattoo done here a few days ago--what a positive experience! Tattoo is clean, elegant writing, took less than an hour from sketch to completed tattoo; it's now healing great. The shop had a really modern feel to it, Joel was very respectful and calming, 'n the whole thing was a totally positive experience.
Oh, and the best part--that tattoo would have cost twice as much money at Zebra.
Seriously. If you're looking for the best tattoo place in the area, hands down, this is it.
I'm already planning my next tattoo. I will absolutely be returning here to get it.
I would give this place WAY more than 5 stars if I could! Â Lourdes did all 3 of my tattoos and I'm telling everyone to go in there! Â She is very detailed, takes her time, you feel comfortable having her work on you and the shop is super clean. Â What more do you need? Â Old Faithful rocks!!!
Review Source:My friend and I woke up one day and decided, we should get another tattoo. We yelped nearby shops in the concord area and Old Faithful popped up. We got there before the owners (women and man) arrived. They both greeted us and directed us to the room on the right when we first walk in. Both of us decided to get quotes as tattoos. I wasn't sure what kind of font or the placement of the tattoo should be. The lady let me skim through the Internet to find the font I desired. The artist gave me this vibe where I was taking too long and I felt really rushed. It wasn't like she had customers waiting either. When I figured out which font and placement, she put it not to my liking. I requested to have the sketch replaced on my body. she let out a sigh* (like she was annoyed or having a bad day). I got up and told her, "I don't feel comfortable getting something permanent on my body if the artist is being rude, unprofessional, and impatient."
I'm so thankful I left and didn't spend my money at this place. The man that was next door to her room was really nice though. I most likely will not come back to this place nor recommend it to anyone.
I cannot say enough. Joel exceeded my expectations by a long shot. I came in with very old tattoos and was hoping they could tie them together and create a half sleeve. Not only did he use the old ink for his backdrop, he created a masterpiece. Super comfortable place with the best prices in town. I vow from this day forward, no one will lay ink on my body except Old Faithful. Highly recommended. Don't be an idiot. It's your body. If you want it done right, this is the only place.
Review Source:Today I wanted a finger tattoo and I know all the down sides of havings one (faded easily, blown out, etc etc) I went to about 4 other shops and either the artist wasn't comfortable doing it or didn't want to do it. I found Joel via Yelp and when I called him he sounded very confident, So I visited his shop and darn this guy is very professional. Was very straight forward with me. This shop is very clean and has an unique taste. I will be going back for more future ink!
Review Source:I went to have Joel do a Sailor Jerry's clipper ship on my shin and he did an amazing job! The line work is superb, the colors are vibrant and clean! The shop itself is tucked away in Walnut Creek which I love, being from the area. Very clean shop.

Decided to get tattooed by Lourdes after seeing her work here and also having a great experience pre-booking - I sent a few local shops an email with my ideas and some inspiration asking for quotes, and she is the only one who responded quickly and was actually excited to work on a design for me.
She was able to book me in about two weeks time and she had my new addition to an old tattoo sketched and drawn out. I was able to review it with no rush at the shop, and ask her to take out a few parts I thought were too large. It was no big deal, she sat down to draw the final stencil free-hand, right there! A true artist, and I am in love with the results.
Great shop, great people, GREAT experience. Highly recommended, I'll be back!
Got tattooed here by Joel and am very satisfied with the work. Was nervous to go to a new guy (my guy was all booked up for a couple months) but Joel fit me in quicker than I expected. I got a big leg piece and was expecting it to take a ton of time but he was so quick and it turned out awesome (the picture of the lady with the peacock fan on the thigh is mine)! The little details like the fishnet glove and the headdress were done perfectly. He's very nice and it's hard for me to talk to strangers initially but there was no forced conversation and he was very personable :) Â I briefly met his wife and she seemed very nice, too. Would recommend Old Faithful for a great experience.

We had wonderful experience at Old Faithful. Lourdes did my husbands tattoo as well as mine. We made an appointment a few weeks out and Lourdes had no problem emailing back in forth to help us create the perfect tattoos dedicated to our children :) When we got there she was super laid back which was especially nice for my husband, as it was his first tattoo leaving him quite nervous. We will definitely send anyone we know who wants a tattoo to Old Faithful!!

Was contemplating getting a tattoo removed, but due to cost, realized I should probably just try and fix it.
Joel did an amazing job making an old crappy tattoo (done by an inexperienced artist a few years back)look awesome! I didn't think it would be possible...but he proved me wrong!
He was super friendly and kept the conversation going the entire time (which really helped take my mind of of the pain.)
Him and his wife have a great establishment!

Joel and Lourdes are the real deal! Â Joel is the most responsive artist I've worked with. Â He told me that he would put together a sketch within 72 hours. Â Not only did he have it to me early, but a lot of thought and creativity went into it. Â A very talented artist that over delivers. Â He did a great job on the black and grey shading as well. Â I've sent two of my friends to him and they both had a great experience.
Came here with my wife to get her some touch-ups and new work. Lourdes was super awesome. She made my wife feel really comfortable and they worked out the design very quickly.
This place is clean and all-pro. Â Very rockabilly themed, but they're not limited to that genre.
The outcome was excellent.
I am planning to come back next week to get some work done.

Their business is hidden among a bunch of salons, massage  therapy, etc. Kind of a weird spot for a tattoo shop. Inside is nice and cozy . Walls are covered in traditional tattoo art. Joel and Lourdes each have their own work space. Its very sanitary and clean.
I showed Lourdes what I wanted and she put her twist on it and made it look 10 times better. The tattoo came out awesome. I am definitely coming  back for more tattoos.

My sister and I went to Joel and Lourdes for our first tattoos. They were fantastic! Not only were the tats really great, they both did a lot to make us feel comfortable about being there and very encouraging abotu the designs we had chosen - no judgement about "small" tattoos or simple designs. The shop was clean and professional. We both plan to return there for work in the near future.

 I just got tattooed at Joel and Lourdes' new shop over the weekend, I love the place, the shop has a unique feel, no cool guy vibe at all, and it's super clean.
I also had the pleasure of meeting Joel's wife Lourdes, the chemistry between the two really adds to the comfortable atmosphere.
Joel Dodds has been tattooing for years and you can tell  - he recently opened a shop in Walnut Creek (moving from Lodi)
I went in to get my sugar skull and he was awesome - i was initially going to get it on my side but decided on my arm instead - which is saying a lot about his skill level - i would never get a tattoo on my arm (where its so visible) unless i had 100% faith in how it would turn out. Â Lourdes was there when i went in and she was very friendly as well
Its very clean and they instantly put you at ease *(a lot of tattoo shops make you feel like you aren't cool enough to be there - this isn't that type of place)
I'm going back in a few weeks to get my guns - and i wouldn't hesitate recommending them to anyone - regardless if its your first tattoo or your 50th tattoo :) Go here
