"Friendly" is the LAST WORD that I would use to describe Apache Jill, this coming from a person who treated her with the up most respect every time I came to her shop. To make a long story short, I had called in recently to reschedule an appointment I had with Jill due to a personal reason, I had left word to have her call me back to verify our next appointment date. An hour or so later she called me back, sounding like the devil herself. She actually had the audacity to call me enraged about the fact that I wanted to reschedule, and at the same time belittled me as if she were any better than me. The point is Jill customers come first, and this should be logic to you as a business person, they are giving you their money, their time, their SKIN, so when customers feel the need to reschedule, put on your happy face and actually feel honored that someone would actually want sit next to you and stare at that face of yours for hours on end while you tattoo them. As far as I know you lost a profit of more than 1400+ just because it was an inconvenience to you. And by the way..when can I come by and get my $100 deposit that you so graciously decided to steal from me? Your a class act Jill.
Review Source:Jil is by far the best tattoo artist I have had the pleasure of working with. Currently she is working on a full back piece for me with a lot of detail. She is fun to be around and every session we have an awesome time talking about life in general. I came in one day with an idea and she is turning it into a beautiful reality for me. If you want any awesome, very artistic tattoo, Jil is the only person to go to. She is an amazing artist. I can't wait for my next session!
Review Source:I came to Pirates in 2009 after meeting Jil through my work. I had her fix and finish a koi on my arm because it wasnt going the way I wanted w/another guy. I wanted a 1/2 sleeve and chest piece representing my family and korean heritage which is what Jil is working on now and I couldnt be happier I've posted some pics of her work please see for yourself or just look at all her awards. She is well versed in not only the history of the tattoos  but the meaning behind them. She is a german biker lady that knew the meaning and history of my korean based tattoo. She will not put crap on you just for the $ nor will her artist because like she said " they dont ask who did your tattoo, they ask where did you get it done."  She demands that type of quality to come out her shop and thats what comes out it from all of them. To me Jil has 37 years of experience which is 3 x more than some who have shops now. They will be honest with you and sometimes honesty stings but that goes away a tattoo doesnt. If you want a reality TV shop then go to LA or Miami if you want honesty, experience, a little bit of craziness and quality Pirates is the shop in Reno.
Review Source:In 2006 I had my very first tattoo done at Pirate Tattoo. I had visited other tattoo establishments but found Pirate Tattoo to be very clean, upbeat, and airy. There were about three artists there at the time I visited the establishment. I asked if any of them specialized in Celtic art patterns. They referred me to Christina. I made a appointment with her, and on a Sunday 6.5 hours later and $350.00 less in my pocket, I walked out with a beautiful Celtic cross on my arm. Three days later my beautiful tattoo turned into a very thick scab. To make a long story short. Christina overworked my tattoo, turning the skin into hamburger. Also when talking to the owner, I found that Christina was not even a regular artist that worked at that establishment and had recently quit or was laid off or whatever. The owner stated that the problem with my tattoo was that I was allergic to the ink, and after the tattoo healed he would redo it. He seemed not to be concerned and he was with another tattoo artist at the time who confirmed every single thing the owner would say. Guess he would be the perfect yes man. Kiss Kiss. Before stating my situation with the owner, I had already studied up and talked to many other tattoo artist and a couple of doctors who were familiar with tattoos and skin reactions with the process of tattooing. Everyone stated that the artist overworked the tattoo. I found the owner of Pirate Tattoo, and those that worked there to be less than honest and somewhat unethical. I have since gotten many tattoos from other more respectable establishments. All I can say is buyer beware. I have heard that the owner had sold his business and a new owner now runs the shop. Even though there might be a new owner, and good artists there and a new more respectable way to do business. I will never return to that establishment. Pirate Tattoo, you guys put me through a year of hell, and cost me another $300.00 to have repaired what should never of happened in the first place, but you did teach me to not trust so much!
Review Source:Pirate tattoo is easily the best tattoo shop in town. The tattoo artists are friendly, professional, and clean, and they only do the best of the best tattoos. Each artist has their own style and they will give you their honest opinions about your tattoo selections, and help you find the right design that works for you. They won't just do any flash-crap tattoo because they want the money... they stand behind their work and want it to be perfect.
I travel to Reno every few months from 600 miles away just to get tattooed by Josh. He is the master of bright color and new school art. Josh is excellent at his job because he always understands what I am looking for and he does extensive research when designing a new tattoo. He takes his career very seriously, and is a perfectionist when it comes to his art.
