My 3 month search for an artist and shop was finally ended when I came across Corey's portfolio and the Reclamare Gallery. Corey did a ~10 hour back piece for me that came out so phenomenally, I couldn't be happier. Corey is a true artist and the atmosphere in his shop is a reflection of his talent, success and great demeanor. Â When Corey set a date, whether it be for a consult, sketch review, session or whatever, he came through every time. You really can't get an idea of how good the talent is or how nice the vibe in his shop is without going and once you do go, you won't want to go anywhere else.
Review Source:A great place for tattoo virgins like myself or hardcore balls to the wall tatties!
Currently I'm having a full sleeve being done by Corey.
Not only a talented artist (just look at some of his work) but a nice guy. He explains everything to you in detail, asks what "you" are looking to have done.
I'll posts some pics so you can see the work being done and more comments as more gets done.
Corey did my cover-up of a bad tattoo from Mexico. This is no ordinary shop. It's a place where art is created. It's open, friendly and features wonderful art pieces.
I had an idea, Corey sketched it up, there was feedback and he delivered a beautiful tattoo. I cannot see the old one, it's amazing. The process was collaborative and professional. The gallery is very clean. Reclamare really pays attention to your safety and well-being before the tattoo begins.
Corey and Jessica are artists first, your skin is the media. I would recommend you go Reclamare for your next tattoo work of art.
Corey and Jessica are both amazing artists and super friendly. Reclamare is a gallery and tattoo studio they are true artists. This place is clean and filled with artwork. It differs greatly from the traditional tattoo vibe there are no neon signs and its not open late. Corey is my artist we are working on my second tattoo I am extremely pleased. Make sure to get your appointment beforehand they get booked up.
Review Source:Reclamare definitely gets my highest recommendation for a tattoo shop. Â Jessica did my upper arm and shoulder and she is a true artist and professional. Â Although my school and work schedule is always changing and beyond hectic, Jessica was flexible and always found a way to do a session when I was free. Â She kept me involved in the process from the beginning, making sure I liked the initial designs, asking for my input on color choices and shading, and always asking how I liked the way the piece was coming together. Â The end result was an amazing tattoo, exactly what I wanted but somehow even more and better than I had hoped. Â Even my wife, who is not a big tattoo fan, loves it and thinks it's beautiful.
The shop itself is clean, well kept, spacious and easy to find. Â I've not worked with the other resident artist, Corey, but I've looked at his tattoo books and his artwork and it is just as incredible as Jessica. Â
If you're looking for a unique, creative, and expertly crafted tattoo by an incredibly talented artist, do yourself a solid and go check out Reclamare and meet Jessica and Corey. Â They are some of the best in Sacramento right now.
It seems that everywhere you look these days, a new tattoo shop has popped up in a strip mall or empty shop front across town. Â A lot of times you can walk in and walk out, making up your mind before even taking a look at the artist's books.
Reclamare is -not- one of these shops.
Run by tattoo artist and Sacramento native Corey Bernhardt, Reclamare has a new sort of feel, quite different than any of the other shops I've gone to for tattoo work. Â The open floor and rotating artwork collection gives you something to look at while exploring the books of Corey and Jessica Ann White, the two artists in residence. Â The pieces on the wall are done by both tattoo artists and are for sale.
Really, though, why settle for a piece of art for your wall? Â This is a tattoo studio, after all.
(Full disclosure: I went to high school with Corey.)
I looked through Jessica's book and was amazed at the quality of work; my appointment, however, was with Corey. I had spoken with him the week before regarding what I wanted - a memorial for a friend who died a few years back. Â I gave Corey the basic idea and set an appointment. Â When I went in, Corey had prepared some sketches as a basis for the piece, in several sizes. Â He took the time to explain the pros and cons of each size in regards to the placement I wanted. Â Once the decision had been made, we got to work!
Corey's work station was immaculate, which is always a relief when settling in for a tattoo. Â We chatted as he pulled out sterile package after sterile package, and he very meticulously set up his work space. Â When the actual tattooing process began, I was ready for the sting (this was not my first tattoo), but was pleasantly surprised at how gentle a hand Corey had, especially for the location. The entire process was quick, but never felt rushed, and I was finished in a bit over an hour. Â My tattoo is a beautiful tribute to my friend - absolutely exactly what I wanted.
I have plans to get another piece done by Corey in the future, and possibly one by Jessica after seeing her work. Â Either way, if you are looking for a tattoo studio run by people who truly love not only their jobs but also the artwork they produce - and they produce quality artwork - Reclamare is the place you want to be.
I drive from halfway across the state to have Jess tattoo me! Not only is she a fantastic artist- she is meticulous in her work. Every line is precise and perfect. I have been going to Jess since she was brand spankin new to tattooing- I was her 4th person ever- and she was amazing then, and even better now!
I will always go to Jess.
After many visits to shops all over Sac trying to find the right artist and environment, I was introduced to Corey while he was working at another shop. Â I am not good at expressing myself verbally when it comes to ideas in my head.. But he listened to my ramblings and looked at some examples I had. Â Corey came up with a incredible Buddha design. I found him to be professional, artistic and a just a good person. I was excited when he opened his own shop and knew from our many conversations while getting my work completed, he would only hire the best of the best for his studio. Â You will not feel uncomfortable around him or his shop like you might at other studios. I am looking forward to having another tat by Corey and hope to get a tattoo by Jessica (all I read are good things about this artist) or another artist in his shop as well. Â Corey, thank you and good luck with your new place!
Review Source:Reclamare - a new business for great tattoo artists from other shops. Â The work they do is breath taking. Tattoos and art work alike.
Jessica did my Volkswagen tattoo on my right shoulder - could not be happier. Â She took my idea and made it happen. Â I wanted the emblem to be a bit darker - BAM - she made it happen.
My friend has turtles down her thigh from Jessica - she always gets compliments!
I LOVE JESSICA!
If you have a yen for a new tatt - give her a call, you will not be disappointed!
Jessica is an absolutely AMAZING artist! Her talent is unbelievable and 2nd to NONE. I went to her my first time for a difficult cover up of a large, dark piece. She not only covered my 1st piece so that is undetectable but graced my back with the most unbelievably gorgeous mermaid (Courtney Brimms inspired) that I've ever seen. I am so proud to show it off and get compliments on it, literally, EVERY time it is visible. I  am constantly asked for Jessica's contact information as few believe that such a beautiful piece of art is actually possible using skin as a canvas. My husband had been seeing the same tattoo artist for several of his pieces but once he saw Jessica's work on me,  he was an instant convert and won't see anyone but Jessica, now. He's even had her cover a few of his previous tattoos with her own amazing style and artistry. Neither of us will ever be tattooed by anyone else again. Jessica specializes in custom work. We loved  the idea that we could collaborate with Jessica. Using  some of our ideas, she is able to use her amazing talent to create pieces that far exceed anything we could ever come up with on our own. Each piece of her work is one of a kind and unique. Not some generic copy that you (and dozens of others) choose out of a binder of clip art or something. She is very professional but also very personable. A true perfectionist, she clearly takes great pride in every piece no matter how great or small.
Review Source:I love Jessica Ann White!!!!  She is creative, imaginative, and cares that you get exactly what will work for you! She always keeps a clean space and is detail oriented.  She is always welcoming and makes you feel at ease.  I have recommended her to every person I know.  I even took my mom and mother in law to her because I knew she could give them the best.  I am a repeat customer and will continue to be  as long as we have the space!
Review Source:I've gotten three tattoos by Jessica, and I plan on being a devoted client of hers for a loooong time. After scouring the internet for talented local tattoo artists, her work was the best by far.
She is great at putting her clients at ease, and I've also noticed that she cleans her workspace and equipment extremely well (which is something very important that some other tattoo artists overlook). Also, her prices are very fair.
I've recommended her to every one of my friends who has even considered getting a tattoo, and none of them have been disappointed!
When you first walk into Reclamare it's unlike most shop's I've been in, there is a ton of open space with wonderful art over the walls it's feel much more like an art gallery than your run of the mill shop. Everyone (Jessica and Cory) are very clean, friendly and professional with amazing talent. I first when to Jessica about planing my sleeve and after we talked and plan it out she has been nothing but excited and ready to jump on board. My first session when so smooth and was a lot of fun, her work is so delicate and beautiful I am more than pleased. I have an other appointment this week and I can't wait to go back!
Review Source:A coworker recommended Reclamare and as soon as I met Jess and saw her work I knew I wanted to have her ink me. She was easy to work with, totally receptive to all my ideas and overall just provided a really awesome experience. Â The shop is really unique & Â has a great vibe. Â I'm obsessed with my tattoo... the small lettering was executed flawlessly. Â I will 100% be returning to see Jess for my next tattoo (which I already want, less than a week after getting the last one)
Review Source:I'm in the process of getting a back piece by her. Â I discovered her after a lot of research and after browsing through her work on facebook I was convinced that her style of incredible line art, flawless blending and flowing colors would absolutely fit the art I wanted. Â And I was not disappointed. Â Her work is amazing. Â You MUST see it to believe it.
Review Source:Reclamare is now my go-to tattoo shop in Sacramento. Jessica is incredibly talented, personable and professional. Her work is a perfect balance of delicate and bold, and she's a very talented artist outside of tattooing as well.
The shop is new and as a result is still a work in progress, but the space is clean and modern while still feeling welcoming. Â
While I have not had the opportunity to have any work done by Corey, I can say he is very friendly and his work that I have seen is amazing. I hope to have some work done by him in the near future.
This is by no means one of those traditional american tattoo shops that are so common here in sacramento, and it's refreshing. A tattoo shop focused on the artistry of tattooing is just what I was looking for and if it's what you're looking for as well, you've found it.
I first met Jessica Ann White (hereafter referred to as JAW) when she was working at Side Show. Some of my friends got tattooed by her and they were very happy with her vibe and the pieces she did. I was intrigued by her art, her ethereal and almost anime-like female forms. So when I wanted a large side piece of Ghost in the Shell's Motoko Kusanagi, JAW was the girl for the job.
JAW's new shop Reclamare is recently opened and is still a bit sparse, but has potential as a nice slice of awesome. There's vaulted ceilings and plenty of space for pretty art, gallery shows, Second Saturday events, and of course the happy buzz of multiple tattoo needles. The space she used was a section of wood flooring, illuminated with umbrella lights. I felt like I was on a set and my tat was the star ;)
When it comes to the actual tattooing, JAW has a light touch and speed that doesn't sacrifice quality. She handled my design's intriciate linework quite well, even the tiny details. It's almost a week after my first session and my large side tattoo is healing nicely. I can't wait for my second session, when the Major gets colored in. Stay tuned, Yelpers!
