Okay, so I went here based on my co-worker's referral. Â Thank you, B Man! Ill try and keep this as brief as possible. My artist was Ezra and was he ever cool as $hit! I had an appointment I made on Wednesday. Even though I had an appt. I still had to wait @two hours before Ezra got to me. Thru out my wait, he continuously acknowledged me and was beyond apologetic. Listen, people: it's a tattoo parlor! You can't go into these places in a hurry. I don't want my artist rushing to ink me and I don't want to rush them on whoever is ahead of me. Â Once Ezra it to me, I was pleasantly surprised he took the time to sketch up several designs for my St. Michael! All were awesome, but the one we both agreed on exceeded any expectation I had imagined! So, once he actually got to working on me, Ezra was too cool and funny as F#|! We talked and talked about everything, to include people's $hitty attitudes! HA! It will get you nowhere quickly in this life! Â Anyhow, I will be returning here in about two weeks! Game on! Thanks, Ezra! Keep up the amazing work!
Review Source:Me and my best friend decided to go to get a spur of the moment tattoo for my birthday, after calling multiple places to see what was open (it was 8:30 pm by this time) Royal seemed to be the only open till midnight, which is awesome. not to mention the good reviews on yelp. we walked in a were immediately greeted by 5 very friendly men. Immediately knew exactly what we wanted, and were respectful of our low price range. Sketches turned out awesome, artists were brandon and waldo. yes, waldo, hes british and amazing. my tattoo was on my foot and i was very comfortable with him tattooing me, as well as my friend who got an anchor on her thigh. I had a plumeria on my foot. overall a very good crowd, reasonable pricing, and great looking tat's. Go to royal peacock! AND easy to look at men!
Review Source:I saw Ry a few weeks ago when my friend and I randomly decided on some ink therapy. Â It was my first time in the shop though I knew well of it. Â Ry was super and I love my balloon! Â In fact, all of the guys in the shop whether or not they spoke to me were generally pleasant.
People shouldn't be so negative- you get back the energy you give out. Â Tattoo shops are not Candy Land. Â If you want something sweet go to the liquor store next door.
Thanks Ry and Royal! Â I'll be back soon.
Their work is just ok. Sorry. But what really I found offensive was how some of the guys treated my girlfriend.  I was not there. I can understand the initial normal flirting.  Especially at a tattoo parlor  i get it  But once youer told the girl is not single you should let it go. Not badger them. They just wanted a tattoo but with your uncontrollable  unprofessional artists  I see no reason to ever recommend someone visit here.  Unless you're a woman and wanna flirt// put up with the propositions. Wak dude. The owner should be ashamed of how he allows his employees to act. This was about three weeks ago.
Review Source:I have gotten two tattoo's from here, Tim was my artist and I have had SO many compliments on mine. I got a pin up girl which are supposed to be hard to do and mine looks awesome.
My husband has a really big piece on his arm from Ezra and he also did a fantastic job, I'm always handing out their business cards
it's been almost a year since my first time to this parlor and my first review. I was back for the third time getting work done with Carlos Perez. this time was a bit different. I actually caught the 'asshole attitude' from two artists there. however as usual Ezra who I had been tattooed by before at a different shop and Carlos my current artist were welcoming, nice, funny and still had the same vibe of 'I love being a tattoo artist'. funny how these are hands down two of the most talented artists in the Sacramento area and yet no cocky attitude. wish I could say the same about a few of the other artists there. I did see one review on here about the shop being small. it is not. there is a downstairs area where other artists are working as well. All in all I'm super happy walked away with another amazing tattoo and didn't get my wallet raped like some other shops often try to do.
Review Source:This place is amazing!! I just got my first tattoo and it was a great experience because of the staff and amazing quality of work. It was very easy making an appointment and get set up. Â I spoke to three guys and they were all extremely helpful and knowledgeable artists. Â They were very honest when it came to my tattoo idea/placement, which is something I really appreciated. Â Bottom line is they want to do a tattoo that will look great for a lifetime. Â I got a script tattoo in my grandmother's handwriting and it is beautiful. Â Butch did an amazing job. I couldn't have asked for a better experience or tattoo. I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND Royal Peacock!!
Review Source:Could not have had a better experience. Â Went in without an appointment today and although the artists were busy, they didn't make me feel like a moron for coming by unannounced, and didn't keep me waiting long. Â Jesse Mitchell was very patient and respectful as he helped me figure out what I wanted (involving a cover up of a 4-letter mistake). He was fast, friendly and funny, and wow, his freehand art and lettering are absolutely impeccable. Â I am very pleased and will definitely go back. Â
Take cash, cuz like most parlors, Royal Peacock does not accept credit cards.
Disclaimer: I got my tattoo from the cock in December 2011. I've honestly been waiting to cool off.
I went in on my birthday. The artist I was working with was the RUDEST. I told him what I wanted. He sketched and brought it to me. I has already told him I wanted the name to blend in, this was literally the only thing he had to do on his own because my piece was based off a picture he was tracing. His response was "That's lame." Ok, buddy. That's why it's not going on your body. The artist did the initial outline and wiped everything away. I was appalled to see that these SKID MARKS were not wiping away! They weren't on the sketch and he hadn't asked about them. Literally lines that fade the further they get from the art. All about .25-.5 inch. I think he messed up on one part and to cover up the one mistake, he added these. Instead of asking, he just went with it. I was irate. Some of his excuses: "It blends into your stretch marks." (For the record, I've asked other tattoo artists and people in general what they think and the first response is "What stretch marks?" No, he didn't blend them in that well) "It makes it look more realistic." "The artist has to take liberties sometimes." Never an apology.
It's a cartoon! Are your pin ups supposed to be realistic? Round boobs aren't realistic, but I'll bet you wanted them to be circles anyway!
My advice is to stay away from this place. Of three employees, including the owner, 2 were rude. One artist came up and chatted and was nice, but owner and my artist were straight up pricks.
Thank you Royal Peacock!
Called first to see if they were super busy; they said they were busy but if I came right now they could work us in...
My husband and I went right over and was acknowledged right away by Mitch who was super cool and nice...decor is amazing and has a big layout so you don't feel crammed...
Our artist Chris was super chill and did a great job! I would def recommend them!
I first came here in January... Brought my mom to get a tattoo for her 50th birthday! The staff was great! Made us feel comfortable and we had a great time! My mom and both loved the experience walked away with amazing tattoos! Â I've been back twice since and can honestly say I don't plan on going anywhere else for my tattoos! I've gotten so many compliments on my arm that I figured I better get on here and give them the 5 stars they deserve! Love the work that Carlos did!!! And I can't wait to get back in the chair for some more!
Review Source:My experience here was definitely NOT fabulous.
I called prior to coming into the shop and asked if I should schedule an appointment as I wanted to talk to an artist about a specific design, I wanted. The man on the phone, Mitch, was mildly rude and stated "We are busy, but we take walk-ins and you can get it done today" -
So I drove from Natomas @ around 3pm, 4/12, to the shop. Upon walking in, I spoke with Carlos, for 20 minutes about my tattoo design and he said he had no problem doing it for me. Then, as he moved behind the counter, he passed me over to Tim, and said that it was his turn to tattoo. Um, HELLO? I just spent the last 20 minutes showing you pictures and explaining what I wanted and you pushed me off to someone else? Nice.
So upon talking to Tim - is awesome!! :) by the way. If my experience hadn't been so sour, I would rate this place 5 stars, :)) And in retrospect, I was sort of excited to have him as my artist!
Anyway, after the time I spent in there, I was informed by Mitch, the gentleman who originally told me I didn't need an appointment, that I would need an appointment, because my piece was too large.
I totally understand this reasoning - and am okay with that 100% - but WHY tell me over the phone, there was no appointment necessary, and I wasted my time driving out to have to come back again, when you already told me something entirely different?
The soonest appointment available was the following day @ 8pm. So I was down with it! and made a deposit - mostly because I wanted to see what the artist could come up with. I was under the impression that the artist would have the sketches ready for me for the appointment time, per agreement. For the record, I would have no problem making a deposit for a sketch - and thats what my intentions were 100% - as I want to see if this was something I wanted.
the next day rolls around, and I called prior to my appointment. My very first question was if any sketches had been drawn up. The answer per Mitch, was No. -
Then I explained I was feeling a little under the weather, and was wondering if it was possible to reschedule. His response was that I need to call 24 hours in advance to cancel (which was never stated anywhere, nor was i ever informed that, & I had Only made the appointment 24 hours prior because he told me I had too.) and that because it was so short in advance, that I would not receive my deposit back, and that I was losing them money, because that block of time was set for me. I did not "no call, no show", nor did i "cancel" - I simply wanted to reschedule.
Excuse me? - The artist hadnt even drawn any sketches, and he was doing a tattoo, when I called.
So I got in my car, and arrived to my appointment @ 8. There was at least 6-8 people in the lobby. Im losing you money?
No buddy, your terrible customer service is the only thing losing you money.
Get your cocky head out of your ass.
And I was so furious, I asked for my deposit back and I don't deserve to be demeaned and disrespected, when I had cash-in-hand to put over 400$ down.
And the cherry topper, was that Mitch had the audacity to tell me in front of all those customers that, he was "trying to reschedule" me, for a better time.
Best Lesson in Life: When your words don't make an impact, just show them what your feet can do. (Or wallet in this case.)
Please Note: The artist, Tim, was super nice, and I have nothing but good words on his behalf, and Thank you for taking the time with me, you were patient and awesome!. :)
The management on that business was seriously FAIL. I could get better service at a Mcdonalds. -.-
After searching for a decent place to get a chest piece completed, I discovered Royal Peacock. Â After two sessions with Jesse, I came out very satisfied with the results. Â I came in with an idea of what I wanted to get and Jesse was able to pull it together. Â I've had negative experiences in the past where artist in other parlors were dismissive and unwilling to support you in creating your ideas. This place was very supportive, experienced and provided an honest opinion if you ask. Â The tattoo was affordable for the amount of work I got done and results were "legit". Â The parlor was clean and I noticed all artist taking responsibility to keep it that way. Â Each artist had a portfolio on hand and I was encouraged to look through and choose the artist whom art I liked. I must admit all the artist were "dope" and had their own style but I liked the way Jesse created wings in particular, very detailed and clean! Â I recommend this place if your looking for solid tattoo artist, emphasis on "ARTIST".
Review Source:Rude rude rude. Â I was ignored for about 20 minutes when I arrived, and when I finally got to speak to someone, they were very condescending to me. Â I have a good amount of tattoos and I have been wanting to get my knuckles done for years. Â I was asked a barrage of questions including my age, job, future life plans, etc. Â After being spoken to like I was a 5 year year old, I was told I wasn't allowed to get knuckle tattoos because I don't have full sleeves. Â
Ridiculous.
I would never recommend anyone go to this place. Â Their art may have good reviews, but I'll never get the chance to see for myself.
RUDEST PLACE EVER!!!!!!!!!!! I went in this past Sunday with money in my pocket ready to get a half sleeve done. Tattoo artists not working ignored me along with the shop manager. I stood at the counter for at least 15 minutes waiting for someone to acknowledge my presence and no one ever did! Needless to say I will be going to RIVERCITY TATTOO in Old Sac, where the manager and artists were beyond friendly and the work was clean. So glad I did not waste my money at Royal Peacock. Don't go to this place unless you want to be ignored and overcharged!!!
Review Source:Lucas did my very first tattoo today and it is perfect! I would give five stars just for him; unfortunately, the guy taking the money (Mitch, I think?) was rude to me twice. So, five stars for Lucas, four for the business. Lucas took the drawing I brought, improved on it, and gave me perfection. If I get a second tattoo I'll be going to him.
Review Source:THIS PLACE IS HORRIBLE!! I came into this shop hearing amazing things about it, but boy was I WRONG! My boyfriend and I came in both with intent to get tattoos. We first had to wait even to get acknowledged we were there. Finally someone came to help us, it was one of the artists there and he helped my boyfriend with his idea and gave him the royal treatment. Me on the other hand, I was ignored. I wanted to get 2 tattoos one on my foot and one on my side. I had my ideas ready and drawn up but whenever I tried to talk no one gave me the time of day. As my boyfriend is getting his tattoo I was left standing on the opposite side of the counter, which was weird to me because most shops let you have someone by your side, ESPECIALLY when its your first tattoo, which his was. I then gave up trying to get anyone's attention, and started watching videos on my phone. I then was told by their, I'm assuming, apprentice to turn the volume down on my phone, EXTREMELY rudely. This didn't make any sense to me because the metal music they were playing was WAY louder than my phone. He later told me when I was talking to my boyfriend asking him how he was doing, to be quite even though we were the only people in the shop. On another day we had to come back for another session for his tattoo, I called ahead this time and made an appointment to get one of my 2 tattoos. When we arrived, his artist was still working on another client and we were forced to wait an hour till he was done. I was then informed that the artist I made an appointment with left. So again no tattoo for me. So I sat and waited yet again. FINALLY on my boyfriend's last session I got to get in to get my tattoo that I drew, which wasn't hard at all, it was just the word believe with balloons coming off the end. I had specific colors I wanted for the balloons and for some reason my artist argued with me and insisted on making one of them yellow. Thinking he had the eye for it I agreed to it. The EXTREMELY rude shop assistant then threw a clip board at me and told me to fill it out and told me to pay before I even got the tattoo?! I have gotten tattoos prior and that wasn't right, but I wasn't getting the tattoo unless I paid. So I did and the process began, didn't take too much time until it was done, then we left. As it healed I really HATED the yellow balloon and I still do. It looks dirty and nothing like I wanted.
All and all, their shop apprentice should be fired and they all need attitude adjustments
I won't be giving this place another chance
I really didn't read the reviews before I went. They were open till midnight and I wanted a cover up fast so i decided to give them a try.
I walked in and Jesse was there to great me. He was very nice and friendly. i showed him what i wanted to cover up and it was big. he gave a couple of advices and ideas. we chose to to cover it up with roses. 4 hours of sweat and pain and it came out perfect. i cant wait to get my next one for him.
LOVE LOVE LOVE LOOOOOVVVVVEEEEE THIS PLACE!!!!!!!!
I highly recommend this tattoo shop. I've gotten a good amount of tattoos all around the country and have had good/bad experiences. My experience here was great. I came in with a tattoo on my forearm that I wanted corrected and have more added around it. Ezra McCabe took my ideas and made them real and even better than I could have imagined. He was very thorough and knowledgable of what would work on my arm. His line work is out of this world. Such a steady hand. I love my new tattoos more every time I look at them. It's money well spent at this location. I will definitely be going back to see Ezra McCabe for the rest of my sleeve work.
Review Source:I had a great experience here. Its a tattoo shop. Its not a hangout or dirty hole in the wall. The guys were nice but respected personal space. These boys know their craft and have respect for it. If you are wanting to collect some good ink I recomend them. If you are looking for party atmospher, uncalled for socalizing and immaturity not the place for you. They are about the art not being your bestie.
Review Source:Got my very first tattoo yesterday from Jesse, it is beautiful!
I bitched a lot considering I got this tattoo on my side and it was my first one but Jesse was really funny about it.
I talked to Jesse a week before and he made me feel really comfortable considering how nervous I was, he suggested very helpful tips for improving the tattoo and showed me what it was going to look like so that I knew exactly what I was getting myself into.
He is an amazing artist and I am really grateful I came to this shop!
I've seen a lot of beautiful work downtown and whenever I ask where they got their tattoos its always Royal Peacock, you have yet another happy customer!
(Pepperoni and Mushroom on thursday!)
Excellent first tattoo experience! Everyone in the store is very nice, laid-back but professional. Price is very reasonable. Shop is clean and they use proper tattoo protocol.
My artist (Tim Reasons) took my idea picture and did his variation on it. I loved it! Exactly what I was looking for. Not gonna lie, the tattoo hurt like a mother but on my ankle  (right above the bone! ouch!) it was expected. But it was over in 30 minutes so bearable pain :) Tim didn't sacrifice quality for time either. My tattoo is SO detailed and has great coloring.
Definitely recommend.
I decided it was time for my first tattoo and my wife had a little bit of work done here, so we decided to get it done at Royal Peacock. Â Ezra took our idea and ran with it, far exceeding my expectations. Â The detail that Ezra put into my dryad tattoo made it come to life. Â I've always been the type of person who couldn't imagine anything I would want on my body for the rest of my life, but I'm proud to have Ezra's artwork with me forever.
Review Source:1 star for good ink. 1 star for offering me some donuts.
First off, I didn't like whoever I spoke to on the phone when I called for directions to their shop. His tone was condescending as he snorted, "It's not that hard to find directions downtown. It's COMMON SENSE." Okay...be that as it may. But I know damn well that I'm not the only person who has gotten lost downtown from all of the confusing one way streets and numerous stores everywhere.
Ruuuuuude...!
Any ways, my cousin and I tracked down this place a while later (no thanks to the people at Royal Peacock). This was also my first time ever to get a tattoo. Why this place? From all of these positive reviews for them on yelp, I would assume that they were doing something right, even if it's clearly not in the customer service area. Â
We stepped into the shop. My initial reaction was "wow, it's a tiny place." It's just one room, separated in half by counters and a little tiny metal gate between the counters for clients to walk into the tattooing area from the waiting area. The gentlemen that greeted me and handed me the forms to fill out was actually pretty nice. But for the most part, everyone here just seem distracted. They were talking amongst each other, and left me there for some time as they went ahead and did their own thing. I was expecting them to be a bit more customer-oriented than this.
Finally, we were able to get started. My artist was Carlos. It was Father's Day, and I wanted my dad's signature tatted on me. It took him multiple tries to get the printed script on straight. He would think that it was straight, but it really was not. I had to keep running back to the mirror on the other side of the room, and also, right outside of the little gate to where my cousin was forced to sit to ask for her opinion. They did not allow anyone in the tattooing area. What was up with that? Even though this was my first time getting a tattoo, it was most certainly not the first time I've been to a tattoo parlor. But this is definitely the first to not allow others into the tattooing area to accompany their client. My cousin had to sit there and watch me from a distance instead of just being next to me. Good thing my session was over in like 20 minutes so she didn't have to wait long. Lame. Especially for a first time...
And to make matter worse, some lines of my tattoo were nice and thin, the way it should be. But some parts are noticeable "shaky" and much more bold than others. Not to mention, when it healed, I noticed a part of the signature was actually missing! My artist did not go over it well enough.
*Le sigh.
They didn't mention anything about free touch ups if anything were to be dissatisfying. But even if they did offer that, I still don't think I would've came back from the fear of them possibly making it even worse.
On the bright side, I've found another place I am totally comfortable at with an artist I absolutely adore. I may eventually get my tattoo from Royal Peacock fixed elsewhere. If not, it wouldn't be the end of the world. Afterall, I got a signature on me. The thing about signatures, it can turn out however and still look okay because it is personal. I probably would've been pissed though if it were to be a quote or some other scriptures.
All in all, my intentions are not to bash anybody's business. But if you're thinking about going here or taking the time to read up on their yelp page, I just want to be able to provide you with an honest review about my personal experience with them.
Keep in mind that just because my artist didn't do a good job, it doesn't necessarily mean that same goes for everybody else working there. But even so, I wouldn't come back here simply because of all of the other listed factors.
That, and because after this, they're probably gonna want to tattoo a mustache or a penis on me.
Just left getting two prices done, one in my foot one on the back of my neck. I am one happy customer.
Went in for a consultation two days ago. Shop was clean and I was immediately greeting when I walked (not something I care about, but appreciated)
I met my artist, Tim, who was nice and was able to get me an appointment quickly.
The locations on my body I picked hurt...nothing would have changed that. But Tim was quick and did amazing work!!!!
Prices are reasonable.
I am definitely going back!!!!!!
I feel bad, I haven't even written a review even though I've gotten three pieces done at this shop! The first time I came into the shop, I talked to the shop manager explaining the tattoo I wanted, and set up and appointment for the next weekend to come in. I got set with Tony Gray, who completely drew a beautiful piece, a tiger lily in which I got for my Grandma passing away, and totally blew my mind with what he had drawn up. The tattoo came out great, with tons of bright colors, which still looks great over a year later. The next piece I got done was with my sister, we both got portraits of each other, with a twist. We both got "sugar skull portraits" done of one another. Tony was super stoked on doing these, because he had never got the chance too. And they came out gorgeous! And last but not least, I got a small hello kitty bow that was just an easy tattoo. Stupid me went home that night and fell asleep on the arm that was tattooed, and the next morning I woke up to my shirt literally stuck to my arm. Painfully so, I had to gently take the sleeve off, which took some of the tattoo off as well. I went back a month or so later, and Tony had no problem with fixing it up real quick in between appointments!(Although he did give me some crap for being so dumb and doing what I did).
To say the least I have been very satisfied with the customer service, the whole environment of the shop, and pricing of this shop. I can't say I'll be going anywhere else for a long time! Even though it's been way overdue for a new tattoo!
i truly enjoy going into the peacock for my tattoos...i don't feel that the artists have big headed attitudes like i have run into at other shops in Sac. I am currently in the process of getting tattooed by Django and i seriously went into my initial consultation with 101 ideas haha i was glad that my artist had the experience and vision to provide me with workable suggestions in a respectful manner. I have to return to finish my piece but i do look forward to getting more ink at this shop in the future. thank you for having a clean shop with friendly staff like Mitch, Tony & Ezra who greet new comers with a smile.
Review Source:The Mrs wanted to work on her sleeve a bit, I wanted to get some more work done so we dropped in at noon with some friends of ours(Rani S. and her husband). Â Mitch, the shop manager (I believe) put us right in the book and all four of us were in and out by 4 PM..everyone was happy with their work. Â I was especially impressed with the fact that I had forgotten I left a deposit so I ended up overpaying by $100 and Mitch called after I left and let me know. Â We just agreed to add it towards the Mrs's sleeve when she goes back.
We will post up the sleeve after the shading is done in a couple of weeks.
So me and my hubby had our tattoos here done yesterday.. It was my husbands first tat on his forearm and my 4th on my thigh.. I couldn't have asked for a better guy to do it then Carlos.. He did a Great job and was very friendly and quick!! He completed my tat and the colors are amazing.. My husband loves his as well... I can definitely say I know who willing be tattooing me from now on.. Thanks Carlos and the staff for a great clean and environment.. This place kicks butt and everyone should go here
Review Source:I got my tattoo here several weeks ago and I'm writing this review because as each day passes I am more upset at the outcome of it. I wanted this particular tattoo design for over a year now and was putting off getting it until I found a place that would execute it the way I wanted it. Looking at the reviews and pictures, I thought this place would give me the results I was looking for. But yeah, I was wrong.
I came to this place with a straight-forward idea and picture - a dandelion. I told him, "I want it EXACTLY like this." I looked in the mirror, "Okay. It's on me the way I want it and how I want it to look like." End result: Not at all. Before the process, I told him, "I don't want just lines because I've seen pictures online of just lines." What do I get? LINES. Dandelions may look simple, but they're not just a bunch of lines bunched up together... it had no depth. I could definitely tell it was all done free-hand and not by what was posted right on my back because it looked nothing like the picture I asked for. Naturally, the seeds weren't being blown away correctly and it just didn't look real. I'm sorry, but I could've drawn better. For such a small piece, too, I believe it was a little too overpriced. But because I wanted it SOO badly, I didn't care. However, I wish I had saved my money for elsewhere.
I would've given them 2 stars, but my boyfriend had gotten a tattoo the same time I got mine and his turned out nice. His, simple chinese characters, was at a reasonable price and I like his WAY more than mine. Maybe I should've just gotten chinese characters as well...
Hands down the best tattoo parlor in the 916. But, if you're looking for a "Hello Kitty" tattoo or piercing this might not be the place for you. Very clean very professional, smooth running operation. Britton Mcferidge is the only tattoo artist I know that have a BA art degree. So, this guy could get real creative with your body art.
Review Source:I am a horrible person, I have two flippin' amazing tattoos from here and I haven't put my review up yet! Anyhoo..here it goes, I walked in in April of 2011 to get my first tattoo ever (at 25 yes, I know, crazy!) I wanted a dream catcher on my side, so I set the appt, they told me Tony would be doing mine. He called me asked a few questions about what I wanted, and when I walked in on easter he had my tattoo sketched perfectly, it took 4 hours but he made it seem like less. He kept me distracted from my pain (yes my friends, tattoos hurt, especially on the ribs). It came out perfect and the price was perfect.
I came back this Jan for my second, an intricate owl design on my left hip/side. Gave him a few pics, he drew it perfect the first time, and after three fun, perfectly smooth session, I have my dream tattoo. See pics please.
Thank you Tony and everyone at Royal Peacock for making me sooooo happy for life. No thank you for possibly making me addicted..lol. But at least I know where to go now....
Tattoo artist: Jesse
Had a great experience here! I came in with no appointment and was greeted very friendly and welcoming. I was able to get an appointment that same day and was being tattooed 30 minutes later. My tattoo artist Jesse was great. I had told him what i wanted and gave me a great price considering how good my tattoo came out. He did an awesome free-hand tattoo on my shoulder blade. It flowed really well with my body. Highly recommended tattoo shop. Clean, friendly, and very educated on tattooing. I will definitely be back again.
My review is mainly just for EZRA MCCABE:
For years, whenever I'd see someone with an especially nice tattoo and I'd stop and ask who did it, repeated I heard the same name...Ezra McCabe.
I finally tracked him down and he'd done two of my pieces and I'm in love with them. I can't wait to be able to get some more work done by him.....it's all so gorgeous.
Not only is he an amazing tattoo artist, but he's actually super nice and helpful and friendly. Go in with an idea and he will help you make it beautiful without being a jerk about it.
The shop itself is very clean and professional.
Our experience here was pretty awesome. Â I made an appointment with Ezra based on a friend's recommendation and I'm so glad I did. Â
We brought in a few sketches and pictures of our own and took some time explaining what we liked. Â We really appreciated that Ezra took the time to talk to us and give us some suggestions/recommendations about the design and location. Â He was incredibly patient and sketched designs that incorporated our ideas with his own style. Â We LOVE our tattoos and couldn't be happier with how they turned out. Â Ezra was friendly, professional, and made sure we understood how to care for our tattoos before we left. Â
A+ Royal Peacock! Â We will definitely be back!
Awesome experience for my first tattoo, gave Tony some download printouts of what I like, colors I like. Â He came up with a combination that worked for me and two hours later my first tat was done.
Great shop, Â good clean technique used by all the guys! Â I watched them all! Â As a nurse who specializes in infection control, even I was very happy. Â I'm pretty difficult to please when it comes to a medically clean environment and this did the trick. Â
My daughter also got a tattoo to cover up an old mistake, she is totally in love with what Brent did for her!
This place has some of the best guys tattooing here! Â I got tattooed by Tony & he did a spectacular job on a tattoo I've been wanting for years. Â I told him what I wanted, he drew it up, and I was off getting a 3-4 hour session in. Â He is not afraid to tell you what might look good or not on your piece too, which is so nice to get an actual opinion. Â My tattoo is better then I could ever imagine like the script & the roses are dead on to what I wanted, and I didn't even have a reference to show him. Â I felt really taken care of & I knew I was paying for some good work at a clean place. Â Tony is a real cool guy & does really good work so I would totally recommend him to anyone. Â
Don't try to come in here & strike a deal up, because your paying for a forever thing, &you don't want to go cheap. Â You have to expect to drop some when you go, so save your pennies because it is worth having a piece done right. Â And come on.. these guys need to make a living too this isn't their side job.. its their real job. Â So pay up. ;D
My boyfriend also has a lot of work done by the guys here (Tony, Jesse, and Django) & all of his pieces came out really good. Â So you really cannot go wrong with any of the guys. Â
Lets just say we drove from Vallejo to get Tattooed over here. Â & it is so worth the drive.
Love this place.
I've been to several shops in & out of the area and this place is by far the least douchey.
For me, that's a big factor in deciding who I want to tattoo me.
Sometimes you walk into a shop and get that elitist douchecanoe vibe, but not here.
I have to say, being tattooed for 4+ hours by Jesse while listening to Portishead & talking about our families, was a religious experience compared to some of the horrible "holier than thou" shit I've run into in other shops.
Every person I've ever talked to at Royal Peacock has been respectful, helpful and friendly.
Attitudes aside, they do amazing work. I brought in a little picture of a flapper girl and asked Jesse to do his thing. His original interpretation of what I had brought in was fucking amazing.
My pretty lady is insanely detailed and the colors are true.
I literally do not go one day without somebody stopping me & asking who did my work.
I will be back again and again and again!
I've been here twice and will continue to come back until I can't get a tattoo anymore or I move.
The first visit was in June 2011. Â After reviewing and researching tons of shops in the area, I was set on coming here. Â Django was my artist. Â He is an amazing artist! Â He's got a sarcastic sense of humor and kind of a don't take shit attitude. :)
I've been in recently to start a half sleeve. Â Again, I am sticking with Django for this one. Â He took the art that I wanted and did some tweeks to it and when I pointed out the differences, he took his time to explain why he did them and he made sure that it still went along with the original artwork! After he finished, it came out BAD ASS!!! I can't wait to go back to finish it up!!
Warning: DO NOT come into this shop if you are going to try and "talk down" a price quote. Â Actually, don't go into any tattoo shop and do that. Â Seriously?
This place rocks.  Everyone is cool, friendly, and zero attitude.  Tony drew up an amazing piece for me just from the ideas I had.  He very clearly and expertly explained why we should move it a little bit from where I had in mind to make sure  the piece would look good in the future which I really had appreciated. (I had wanted too much detail right in the inside bend of my arm).  We moved the main detail of the design down below the bend and put fire (FIRE! YES!) up into the bend of my arm.  I was a walk in that day because I was feeling exceptionally good and felt like getting a tattoo that day and they were very accommodating.  I have an appt at another studio for a bigger piece but most likely will cancel that appt and lose my deposit to just take my business back to the 'cock.
I recommend coming in with an idea and giving the artist  the freedom to go for it.  The know what colors look good together, they know what looks good in the future, and they are passionate about putting their own unique art on you.  You will end up with better tattoos.
They where even cool and helpful to some fool I would have thrown out. This couple comes in wanting to see everything possible in both books as well as the computer. Â The guys politely talked to him and answered his stupid questions while he wasted their time (for like an HOUR) as when asked "when are you lookin to get tatoo'ed" the guy says "yeah, prolly next summer". NEXT SUMMER? Really? Â youre going to go waste a tattoo shops time a year before getting a tatt. Â Even after all that, they were still polite and professional!
Price was more than fair. Â Oh, and they do take a card but cash is preferred of course.
Thanks Tony!
Brent is amazing. He is newer to the shop (not tattooing) and has a sweet, quiet, professional demeanor. His work is impeccable and his rates are more than reasonable. He was also very patient with my rambling of ideas and descriptions. He somehow took my frenzied chaos of words and drew up a completely original piece that I adore! Better than I imagined! It's been 2-3 months now, and I more in love with my newest addition than ever.
All of the staff here are really nice and don't give you that annoyed vibe that some shops do. If you've been in a few shops, you know what I'm talking about.
For my money, this is the absolute best place to go in the Sac area!
I just got a tattoo here last Friday. I was a walk in. The staff was friendly and helpful with what I was looking to get done. A simple skull and crossbones on the back of my arm. I'm sorry to say I cannot remember the artists name who did my tattoo. All I can say is that he is very, very skilled. The drawing was exactly what I wanted and then I asked him to just "fill it in" Â as he wanted to. I am blown away but how great it came out. Way better than I could have ever imagined.
I live in San Francisco but needless to say I will get all of my ink from this place for now on. Don't shop around, just go!
Oh and the price was amazing. I honestly feel like I didn't pay enough for how detailed it is!
I got a tattoo on my foot here a few years ago before I knew about yelp, but it had good reviews I found otherwise online.
The shop was very clean and "open." All the chairs and tables were in the middle of the room, with waiting chairs by the windows. It has sort of an old-school vibe, specializing more in sailor-style tattoos than freaky goblins, Harley-Davidson skulls, or hip-hop style.
I don't remember my artist's name (I know! So terrible of me... whoops...), but he was super nice and helpful. I wanted to get a tattoo on the side of my foot, underneath my ankle, and he made sure to let me know that the skin on that part of my foot was too similar to the skin on the bottom of my foot. Like the skin on the palms of the hands and bottom of the feet, where I wanted to get the tattoo below my ankle has skin that regenerates much faster than other surface skin. Because of this, he said it would be only a matter of a few years before all the ink would be "pushed out" and fade away. He didn't want to tattoo me if it would just be a faded blur within a few years, but he pointed out a better area of skin where the tattoo would last much longer (it's diagonal across my foot where the strap of a flip flop can cover it).
Anyway, they did a great job and were very professional. The atmosphere in the shop was very chill and comforting, and you can tell the guys who work there are a lot of fun. I would definitely come back for another =)
Do not come to this shop if:
You like a holier than thou, condescending attitude from your artist
You like an artist who has an entourage of knuckleheads hanging out while he works
You like a filthy, unwelcome environment
Do come to Royal Peacock if:
You like excellent customer service
A professional environment
Walking out paying pretty much exactly what you thought
You want beautiful work done by a great artist.
You like a place that goes from playing Depeche Mode to the Eagles
Thank you Tony for making my experience today so great. Â I love the work you did for me today and am looking forward to our next visit.
I'm currently getting a piece done on my ribs. Anyone who has ever gotten work done on the ribs knows it hurts like a MOFO! Tony is by far the best tattoo artist. He's super chill and is lite with his hands.
Bottom line: I wouldn't even think about getting inked by anyone else. You guys kick ass!!
I heart the Royal Peacock. I have 5 tattoos my first was done in LA and the rest were all done by Anthony Grey. Â Who I love like I have never loved a man before! He is amazing. My wife and I will give him a crazy design or an idea and then he will turn that crazy idea into an amazing tattoo.
Tony also has the ability to keep me clam by talking to me about everything under the sun. His prices are more than fair and his work speaks for it self.
The shop is very clean and all of the guys are more than nice and respectful and entertaining. I can't imagine getting tattooed by anyone else or anywhere else. I have referred many friends and they have all had similar experiences. I even love all the crazy dead animals on the wall!
This is the ONLY place I will go to get tattooed in town. Jesse Mitchell has done no less than 5 of my tattoos, and now Ezra McCabe of Timeless Tattoo has set up shop there. These are my two main men who have never done me wrong!
They are nothing short of professional, and some of the most creative and talented artists in town. They take your idea and run with it, and will tell you if your idea sucks! LOL Now that's honesty!
After looking online through portfolios and whatnot, I went here to get 2 simple black and grey sparrows. One on each foot.
Sergio took good care of me and waited patiently while I took a smoke break at the halfway point.
They were super professional and courteous. Not a typical party shop. All of the artists are phenomenal and I would recommend this parlor to anyone looking for a great tattoo (or 2!)
Bonus points for not only having cool decor, but looking like a clean and sterile shop.
I got 2 small tattoos here and I was very happy with the work. Â I wold call these my beginner tattoos...Since then I have gotten a few larger pieces and I knew what to expect. I will definitely come back and get more work done.
I love the decor here...and all of the artists I have met are pretty cool.
Remember - they only take cash....and tip your artist!
Once again, an amazing experience at the shop. Â Just got two different tattoos done in the past week and despite the oddness of my I "heart" Math design, Tony was a consummate professional and gave me a tattoo that resulted in an interview with <a href="/redir?url=http%3A%2F%2FWoot.com&s=e16aaf08b71cba773748dc1bc764f163f535a3319e88613275dfb0f48a89d391" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">http://Woot.com</a>.
The portrait of my cat turned out even more amazing than I could have imagined and the pricing for both tattoos was hella cheap.  I managed to sneak them a few more pounds of honey from my hives and gave them a small spider plant to spruce up the place.  Can't wait for my next design and for a rollicking time bantering with the guys.
Don't know why I hadn't reviewed this place yet. Â The shop in genereal is WAY better than anywhere else in town. Â Hands down the best customer service. Â Tattoo shops have a reputation for being cocky jerks and I have never experienced this with Royal Peacock's staff. Â I hear the same feedback from friends who are now starting to come here. Â Jesse Mitchell has done 3 tattoos for me. Â He is a great artist and I get compliments regularly on his art. Â He is also very cool & friendly. Â This is the only shop I have ever been to where I can look at the books for each artist there and they are ALL good! Â There is not one bad artist in the shop. Â They also spend money on GREAT ink so the colors or very vibrant and are not fading. Â I highly recommend going here. Â Tip the artists well people, they deserve it!
Review Source:In response to Britton:
Are you serious? I had one drink before I had walked into your tattoo parlor, the only thing I can think of that would make me seem intoxicated was the fact that my ears were ringing having just come out of press club and I might have been talking a little louder. Almost everything you said in your response to my review is WAY off, I can't believe a "professional" would uphold their business' status with lies like that; instead of an apology I get called arrogant and confrontational?! I'm flabbergasted right now luckily I can get over that quick enough to correct your disillusions.
1. I didn't say anything about it being cursive script, I said handwriting, it was something that was flexible because I had a few ideas of what it could look like. Jesse kept telling me to look at pictures even though he informed me that there were no pictures of anything like what I was asking for. So what would looking at pictures do for me?
2. This is a tattoo I have thought about for a long time, it is perfect for me and I will continue looking for an artist talented enough to pull it off. So thanks again for insulting my idea for something that means a lot to me. Another very "professional" move on your part.
3. I don't care who you are, how long you've been a tattoo artist, or anything else, other than how you treat me and if I show a tattoo I have to compare the price of it to the price of something I want maybe I should get a constructive response, not "that isn't a quality tattoo"
Arrogant? The only arrogant people in this situation are you.
Too bad I can't give zero stars....I'm wondering how many of the 15 reviewers that have used yelp 10 times or less and have reviewed this parlor were coerced into leaving good reviews, seems a bit shady to me...
This is a great shop. It's super clean and the guys are really friendly. I went in mostly knowing what I wanted, and they set me up with Adam (he's not always in town, but I'd go to any of the guys in the place, really) who does great 'brush stroke' work. My tattoo is even better than I imagined. I'll be back for sure!
Oh and while you're there, ask theme to play Steel Panther for you.
I have a silly little tattoo that I got when I was 18.....who doesn't, right? Well, recently I got it into my head that it might be cool to give it an "upgrade" and turn it into something that I was actually proud of instead of something that made me say things like, "yeah...I was young and dumb...and a little drunk..."
But I didn't want it covered up. Silly though it was, it still held sentimental value for me...I just wanted it incorporated into something better.
I was planning on going to an artist in SF that was highly recommended by a friend. But scheduling was tough to work out....so I turned to Yelp.
I'll admit...I was hesitant about having a permanent alteration done to my body by someone not known to me or anyone I know. But I figured it wouldn't hurt to check it out.
I stopped in one day with some photos of ideas I liked. I didn't have a set piece in mind, but a general idea.
I made an appointment for a few days later with Tony.
When I came in for my appointment, Tony showed me what he had drawn up....beautiful! And better than what I had imagined! Truth be told, it was also a bigger piece than I had imagined....but it looked SO good I just had to say "yes!"
3 hours (and a good deal of pain) later....my silly little tattoo had turned into a beautiful piece of art!
Tony was fantastic! The tattoo looks great and I have received endless compliments on it (except from my mother....who hates it...but that was to be expected).
I'd certainly go back....except I believe my tattoo days are now over... but I've said that before....
After doing a lot of research on places where to get my tattoo, a friend and I decided to go to the Royal Peacock. Â Since it was my first tattoo and I was super nervous, the staff was extremely helpful and supportive.
I met with Jan and gave him some conceptual drawings for the basic idea of what I wanted with text that was in a Korean brush stroke style. Â Needless to say, it turned out amazing! Â Better than I imagined.
Also, (since I'm a poor college student) he was able to give me a great deal on the tattoo without skimping out on the quality. Â I would definitely recommend anyone else to see him.
I love this shop and will continue to return as long as I have projects planned.
The work is impeccable - from everyone. I can honestly feel confident walking in with an idea and seeing who's free, because they are all amazingly talented.
On top of that (actually, i'd say contributing to that) is the fact that they all really listen & care what your concept is. They are excited about something that you're excited about, & want to see it through to success. They're incredibly nice & it's just the kind of environment you want to hang out in for a few hours & get some work done.
On a side note, whenever I' out & about & see someone with work I like, I ask them where they got it done. Nine times out of ten, it's Peacock. What does that tell you?
I can not say enough nice things about this place. GO THERE.
My wife and I decided to get tattoos in memory of a loved one. We checked  out The Royal Peacock and we are very happy with the results.
The shop is very clean and is full of historical decor. The gentleman at the front (I think his name was Steve) was courteous and after listening to what we would like, supplied us with examples of drawings to narrow our search.
Tony took a look at what we liked, listened to our ideas and drew up something that both my wife and I really liked. The tattoos did not seem to take that long and they turned out absolutely amazing. I am very happy with the results and would return if I ever get another tattoo. Thank you very much Tony.
I remember when this place first opened up, I got my second tattoo here and since then I haven't been to any other place.
I've had three different artists tattoo me and I have nothing but great things to say about all of them. They're all super friendly and always remember you when you come back.. even if you get small pieces done!
Prices are affordable and the quality is great. I've also gone for touchups and they have no problem doing them.
Their artists are all really talented, so if you need advice on a piece they are the ones to go to!
oh yeah, they only accept cash so make sure to hit up the bank first!
Jan & Tony are great!
Okay . . . I'm a tattoo virgin, and probably will be for the rest of my life (maybe someday when I can commit to something permanent). But, I do like tattoos, especially on guys.
So, when the old man wanted to get another . . . I referred him to Jesse - I know his mom - she's an awesome, cool lady, and the apple doesn't fall too far from the tree.
Jesse was very patient with the old man, and the rather large tattoo he decided to get ... in a sensitive area . . in which I knew I would have to help him take care of, was well worth the time and pain. They offered him some gum to take his mind off the pain. I was allowed to take some pics. I also perused the large number of portfolios . . . and found some really nice tats that I would seriously contemplate on getting scratched onto my virgin skin.
The other two guys working there were also very, very nice, cool, and patient with this one annoying chick that came in. She seemed to be a bit gun shy about a tattoo she requested a while back and wanted the dude to draw up what she "may" have been getting . . . oh, about a couple of weeks from then.... I say, if you're that unsure of what you want etched onto you, then you really need to go home and think about it. . . quit wasting dudes' time. But, I have to say that I was very impressed at the fact that he did go back to the drawing table, sketch out, cut out, and place the potential tattoo on her body part . . .give her suggestions as to coloring and any changes he could make before the final product would be done . . .like, days later. She seemed very happy, and confirmed . . .yet again her tattoo'ing session. She annoyed the shit outta me, but the guy here was more than patient, and accommodating. . . oh, and the old man's tat came out very nice . . . even if I had to take care of him and nag him to take better care of the fresh job.
Seriously one of the best shops in Sacramento. They have amazing artistsand the staff is made up of genuinely nice people. They made me feel comfortable and not at all out of place and my tattoo turned out amazing. I definately plan on coming back and bringing a friend or two as well.
Review Source:Sacramento is not short on talented tattoo artists...but here's the thing...
the people here are great, tattoo's are great, they wont let you leave with a piece of crap on you because they want you to have something thats going to look good beyond six months.
they did a great job cleaning up that corner of 21st and p... it's nice to be able to walk over there and not have to wade through the used needles on the sidewalks anymore...
the inside is very classy and definitely worth checking out just in itself...great artwork on the walls...not to mention a kangaroo head....
