I no longer have virgin skin - I got my first tattoo today!  I called yesterday and the guy who answered the phone was really helpful and explained what I could expect and some tips to make sure I would be as comfortable as possible during the appointment.  When I entered the shop today, everyone was really nice and very understanding that this was my first experience.  I worked with Bryan.  He was awesome!  He was great about tweaking my design sample until we got it just right.  He talked me through the process and also kept up good conversation while he was working which helped to keep my mind off what he was doing.  The shop is set up with open stations, everyone was very friendly, and it was super clean.  I left with a beautiful tattoo to honor someone very special, and I thank Bryan for sharing his artistry.  I highly recommend Silver Needle Studios!

Today I got my very first tattoo. Since my chosen design was small, simple, and used only black ink, the guy at the front told me right off the bat that their minimum charge was $60 and that my design wasn't necessarily $60 worth of tattoo, and asked if that was ok with me. I really appreciated how upfront he was about it, and I decided that I'd rather pay a little extra to get tattooed at such an honest and professional (and highly reviewed!) place.

The gal at the front also really helped me out by telling me about her experience with an ankle tattoo. Both of these people also were great about putting me at ease and, when it came time to apply the stencil, were absolutely dedicated to making sure everything was EXACTLY how I wanted it.

Bryan was my tattoo artist and his work was quick, clean, and crisp. He talked me through the whole thing and kept my mind off the pain by chatting about the meaning behind my tattoo, his experience in the business, and the origins of tattooing in general. I was incredibly impressed both with his work and with him.

Afterward all three people helped me to make sure I knew exactly how to take care of my new tat, and, to my surprise and pleasure, did NOT try to pressure me into buying any kind of expensive aftercare stuff.

Overall, I had a GREAT experience. Great people, great ink-work, and I ALWAYS felt like everyone in the shop cared about giving me the absolute best experience possible. If and when I get ever another tattoo, Silver Needle Studio is definitely where I'll be going!

Six months ago I had this idea for a tattoo. I wanted a green sea turtle ( honu ) that was unique. I decided I would add a ying-yang to his back, so I found some images of turtles and a ying-yang that included fire and water. Clearly my love for the Hawaiian Archipelago influenced my plans.

Five months ago I walked into Silver needle Studios in Concord and looked through some artists portfolios and Immediately knew Mark S. was the artist for my honu. Turns out he is in very high demand and I made an appointment on a Tuesday two and a half months away. At the time I was self employed but right before my appointment I went to work for a general full time so I had to reschedule a month and a half later which was the first Saturday available.

Well, Yesterday I finally met Mark. I had sent him images and ideas through email and told him he had free reign to create my tattoo. He far exceeded my expectations with his awesome artwork!

His entire staff is very professional and friendly just like him!

    Hope you all like...

Just got my first tattoo.  I had gone in with a design that I had drawn out & looked over their portfolios to see which artist bet fit what I wanted.

Everyone there was nice & helpful.

It is a very comfortable environment, almost like a party.

The artists all keep you at ease and will go over everything a first-timer needs to know.

Regina did my tattoo, and I am beyond happy with it!  She's a great artist and works very well with her clients!

Called a few weeks ago to see if I could get a touch up on a tattoo that the original artist couldn't fix the second time I went in (different shop, not here). It was very small and on my wrist. They told be to come by and they could probably see me that afternoon. I went in, filled out some paperwork, and Joel told me he could work on the lines and touch it up, no problem. He did a good job and really evened out the colored lines and just make it look a lot better/more even. Took about 20 minutes. He was really nice and made me feel comfortable, I would totally go back...if only I could decide what I wanted.

Note: This shop has a minimum charge of $60, even if it is only a very small tattoo that takes 20 minutes to touch up.

Several years ago, I did it... I committed a big tattoo no-no & got my now ex's initials tattooed on me. I knew at the time it was going to be something I'd possibly regret in the future, but I like learning the hard way sometimes. If there is a way to be "smart" about doing such a thing, it was done to where unless you knew what to look for, you wouldn't be able to point out the initials. I could have lived with it & not really cared, or gotten it lasered (which I've had done for a different tattoo) but I figured I'd see what could be done with it in terms of a coverup, since it's already kind of hidden.

I found this shop here on Yelp because I was curious to see if there were any shops near me I haven't heard of. I'm really happy I found this studio. I was a walk-in & luckily the owner Mark said he could take me when he was done with a client. Before leaving to grab a quick bite, I showed him the original tattoo & we talked about the ideas we had. He said he could take me in an hour or so, but also said if I didn't want to wait that others could take me. It was nice that he didn't act like a customer hog, but I wanted him to do it since I was comfortable with his ideas. When I came back, he was ready for me. He free-handed the design we talked about & I loved it right off the bat, no adjustments needed. I told him how I wanted it to look & he did just what I wanted, no need to clarify over & over. I love that he had an artistic eye & knew how to enhance it instead of doing something completely wrong looking, just for the sake of hiding it.

I was surprisingly nervous about getting this tattoo! I have no idea why... probably because it had been so long since getting one & I was really nervous about the possibility of it looking worse! Also I kind of decided to do this on a whim, which is how I got into this mess in the first place. I walked in that day expecting to only check it out, not commit to anything. Once I was on the table though, all of my anxiety went away. Mark really made me comfortable. The tattoo gun he uses is very quiet. At times you will wonder if it is even on! I barely felt a thing. I honestly could have taken a nap. They also were playing relaxing music, which really helps you chill out. Another thing is, it smells great in there! Never have I been in a shop where I especially noticed how nice it smelled, lol. They are really on top of maintaining a clean workspace/restroom which is especially a must in that industry.

I'd also like to say, Mark has a very nice & almost familiar demeanor about him. He's not on a high-horse & there's no ego to him. Of course the #1 priority is to get great looking work, but if you can find someone who is enjoyable to sit with for an hour or two, all the better! It makes for a nice, memorable experience. He truly seems to care about his clients & that's why I will be a repeat customer. My fiancé was so impressed that he booked an appointment that day. Mark made sure before we left that he got the ball rolling by taking an outline of his arm so he can see what space he has to work with. The other employees that were in the shop were friendly also & after seeing their portfolios & interacting with them, I'm considering them for tattoos also. Hands-down the most professional tattoo shop experience I've had.

As for my new tattoo? I couldn't be more thrilled. I was so afraid of dealing with an artist that wanted to just cover it all up with some big distorted looking blob. Mark was able to keep what was there without totally covering it & instead used it as part of the new art (I can actually call it that, now) I'm amazed & don't think I could've asked for better, especially since my prior tattoo could be considered a limitation. I can't wait to have him do something from scratch because I will probably be even more impressed. I went to Mark at random, no referrals but he now has a referral in me!

    Go to CJ.
I'm going to give silver needle a five star review because its a great shop. It's super clean. All of the staff are very friendly.
To my tattoo. CJ did my tattoo I have nothing but good things to say about him. He is very professional. I came in a few days before my apt. To show him what I wanted. He drew it up the next day and sent me a text message of his drawing to show me what he had. I thought that was cool. When getting the tattoo he was very detailed,  he took the time to make sure everything was perfect. Very very thorough with every part of the tattoo, it's exactly what I wanted.   I also want to say Mark and Nick were very entertaining!

    Go see Jorel!

So this was the first time coming to this particular shop, I usually go to Bay Area Inkspot down the street, but my favorite artist just happened to be here last night! Jorel has done all of my tattoos for the past 4 years and there's clearly a reason why!.... He's awesome, easy to talk to, and funny!

Anyway, the atmosphere of this place was awesome! I walked in around 9:00pm and was greeted nicely by the pretty girl at the front desk. I got that chill island vibe right when I walked in (could be from the island music playing in the background). The place was well kept, clean, and everyone was very friendly and courteous. There was another artist there seemed pretty chill too asking about my tattoo and the meaning of it.
Overall, this place was real chill! I'll
Be back next week! You should go too!

I don't yelp often. If I am yelping about it, the place was either horrible or AMAZING! This place was amazing. I have over 30 tattoos and this is the most legit shop I have ever stepped foot in. Clean, friendly, and professional were the first things I thought as I walked through the door.
Now the important stuff, the quality of the tattoos! Mark did my tattoo, I went there with just a concept, and a few hours later, left with a world class piece of art! His demeanor and skillmanship was worthy of nothing less than going on yelp and raving about him. While there I also saw another artist( i cant remember his name)  give another customer( it was his first tattoo) a dragon that blew my mind.
I have already scheduled my next tattoo in a few weeks.
