Amazing atmosphere. Girlfriend had Tino do two tattoos and he did an amazing job. Doug did a great white on my right calf and it turned out absolutely perfect. Came down from Canada and had an amazing experience. Have to come back and get tattooed again. Came down on the first day of our holidays just to meet Peggy who I had been corresponding with before our trip. She has fantastic customer service. While being tattooed the conversation was amazing and hilarious with Tino and Doug and the young guy who I'm sorry did not catch his name.
Review Source:Love this place!! Came in on a Sunday secretly hoping to get in that day for a new tattoo but was honestly expecting to need to set up an appointment. Peggy greeted us right away and was so friendly. We got our appointment set up for the next weekend and off we went.
When we came back service was just as friendly! I chatted with Dave the entire time and felt very comfortable! Turns out Dave & Peggy know the people who I got all my other tattoos from in Colorado! Small world! While my hubby was getting his done I spent a lot of time talking with Peggy. All around it really is the people that make this place. I loved talking to Peggy and both her and Dave were great! Next tattoo I will definitely be coming back here and I also will highly recommend Tattoo Hawaii!
Thanks Dave for my awesome new tattoo and I know Tom loved his too - thanks!
I got my first tattoo done by Doug last month. I am one with very low pain tolerance but with Peggy's and Doug's help I made it through. Peggy was the first to greet me when I went in. She
was super friendly, sweet but straight to the point.  I told her what I wanted and she looked it up so she could print out a copy. Doug helped me figure out what colors and style I wanted. I handled getting ink'd better than I thought but it was all because of Peggy and Doug. As soon as I started feeling sick Peggy would come out with cold water and aim the fan at me. Doug was super patient with me even though he was craving a cigarette. I'll be going to Tattoo Hawaii again by the end of the year to get another one. I told ppl that  had tattoos about this place and the cost. They all said that this place offers a great deal.
There's a reason Tattoo Hawaii has 5 Stars !! Â It's the people !!!
We went into many shops to talk with an artist about getting a tribal tat. One shop was very dark and spooky. The artist only spoke to us from behind a cheap bamboo curtain. A, NO thank you. Another shop wouldn't talk to us, unless we booked an appointment and gave them a $50 non refundable deposit first. Another, NO thank you. The next shop was filled with young men, young enough to be our grand children. Â None of which, I'm sure, did any apprenticeship under a qualified artist. NO Thank you. Â One more shop, where the receptionist kept trying to get the owner to let her tattoo someone. All because she had worked there for six months and felt she was now qualified to do tattoos. Â This was our last NO thank you. Â UNTIL !! Â We were on The Bus and saw Tattoo Hawaii. Â We decided to jump off The Bus and give it one last try. BINGO!! Â The minute we walked in, we could see that Dave and Peggy were not new at this. Two mature, knowledgable and caring people. Right away, it was like walking into a favorite family members home. Â We made an appointment for both of us, and we've never looked back. Â
So, if cleanliness, comfort and professionalism is what your looking for,
Tattoo Hawaii is the only place you should go. You will not regret it.
Very nice and CLEAN shop. Â I've seen some questionable shops that I'd never get tattooed in (won't mention that here), but this one is pretty pristine. Â I met the owner while I was there, Peggy. Â She's a sweetheart. Â
I just came in for a small tat blast on my left wrist. Â Doug did an awesome job, the text (in sanskrit) looks really nice. Â I currently have a half sleeve and then a portrait on my forearm from some other artists, and this little piece fits in so nicely. Â Can't wait for my full sleeve! :) Â If you're in the area, come by and check out Doug. Â
Peggy's husband also works here. Â Don't know his name, never seen his work, so I can't really comment on it. Â But you can also check him out and see if he might work for you as well. Â
Good thing about this shop is there's a parking lot. Â Nothing worse than going to a shop with only metered parking, and you're getting a large piece and have to keep stopping to fill your meter! Â The worst feeling ever while getting ink, is stopping. Â It hurts so much more! LOL
TO THE POINT: Check them out, you won't be disappointed. It won't hurt to swing by...unless you end up getting one that day, then it might hurt just a tad :D
Their staff is friendly, down to earth people who understand the business they're in. They treat you the way you should be treated; with respect. Which is hard  to find these days in the "tattoo" business. I'm sure we all know of someone (or even ourselves for that matter) who has had a flaky artist who figured, just cause I do dope work I can treat you poorly, and  YOU can call ME because I'm just too busy to keep you posted. *shake head* My experience with them was so worth it that one of my friend's ended up getting a tattoo from them. Did I mention her roommate too? On to my long story....
I was in the market for (another) tattoo; one that would honor my father and our love for the movies. I was told to go to a certain place in Chinatown, let's not mention any names....but perhaps it has to do with a certain colored feline, if you know what I mean? (that poorly rated review can also be found on Yelp).
I went to "that" place after seeing reviews on Yelp and talking to a few people who had gotten work done from them. They all raved about their work. So I headed there...only to be super disappointed and sadden about my experience with them. Just because you're great at something doesn't mean you can be a flaky fu*k. Get over yourself. I'm just saying.
Since I was back in the market for a new artist I ended up checking out a few places, and this just so happen to be one of them.
I was greeted by Peggy; their piercer, as soon as I walked in. Her bubbly personality is what makes her such a doll. Â I told her about my bad experience with "the other place" and she told me about customer service and how it makes all the difference these days. So true!
After we spoke about my tattoo, and our personal connection with the movies, I ended up sending her some pictures via email for reference. Peggy and I corresponded via email; she even told me she's be out of the office for a few days, so not to worry. Upon her return she told me that one of the guys there would be perfect for the job. So I went in to see Doug.
Doug is super chill & easy to talk to. We spoke about my design, colors, cost, etc, and he told me he'd come up with something by the end of the week and give me a call. Which he did! I went in to the place with this image in my head of what I thought it should look like, but when I actually saw the drawing it was WAY more awesome than I had imaged! I was actually a bit faklempt. He asked me if I wanted to tweak anything on it, but it was perfect from the get go (OK...I did ask to add another straw but that was all).
I got the tattoo on my left rib cage. Yes, I know. The infamous rib-cage that people fear is all painful. Eh *shrug* O_o it has it's moments, but nothing too crazy in the pain department. Â I was told to bring a book to read (though most people don't get very far I was told) or music to listen to while I was in the chair (in my case the table). Reading isn't my thing, and music would make me dance; not the best for sitting still. So I ask Doug to talk story with me; which he did. We talked about: movies, actors, relationships, The Bar, life lessons, etc. Stuff you'd talk to your friend about over drinks, instead mine involved an ink gun.
Two sittings later, when it was all said and done, it is by far my favorite piece. I though it was awesome in sketch form, but it's way more kick ass with color! It meant a lot to me because of what it stood for. I wouldn't have settled for anything less (Right Doug? Never settle! ha ha) Every time I look at it, it makes me smile; inside and out. Not to mention, it makes people want to go to the movies, which is also a great compliment.
Thanks so much Tattoo Hawaii! You are kick ass awesome.
Doug - I feel I need to know what happens in that mini series you got me hooked on! Ooooo the drama! ha ha
Sincerely, Â Movie Theme Girl.

I cannot wait to get back to Hawaii to get my next tattoo! Â The environment was so relaxed, friendly, and low pressure. Â Peggy made us feel completely at ease, especially since it would be my husbands first time getting a tattoo.
We both had the pleasure of being inked by Tino. Â He is a true artist! Â I gave him a rough idea of what I wanted and he ran with it. Â I have never been happier with any of my tattoos and I have received so many compliments on it. Â I will definitely wait until I return to Hawaii to get my next one.
Im from Alaska and the tattoo age here is 18. I'm only 16 and I knew I wanted a tattoo when i came to visit Hawaii. My mom talked to so many different places but Tattoo Hawaii was the one that came through. The work they do is amazing! I loved it there. They made my first tattoo comfortable and easy. Highly recommended! If I were to get another tattoo before I turned 18, I would only pick to get it done there
Review Source:Tattoo Hawaii is the real deal. Â In short: Great service, great work, great people and very reasonable prices.
I wouldn't change a thing about my experience. I live in Oregon and came to Hawaii for my 30th birthday and to visit a friend. Â I had a tattoo design in mind and thought it would be a fun way to commemorate the my first trip to Hawaii. Â The reviews on yelp helped me pick Tattoo Hawaii, but Peggy and Dave sealed the deal. Â
Peggy helped me to design the tattoo. Â She was kind, patient and even let me use their computer. Â When I wanted to make changes to her art she was more then happy to do it and reminded me that it was my piece.
Dave's work is top notch and I couldn't be happier with the tattoo. Â Although not ideal for either of us, we tattooed for about 7 hours and they even stayed WAY late to finish the piece. Â Dave was very personable and put up with all of my questions. Â He educated me on Hawaii, tattooing and even music.
The shop is clean and they both stress the importance of cleanliness. They are members of multiple tattooing associations and pride themselves on their experience, education and professionalism.
Clearly I would highly recommend Tattoo Hawaii to anyone and everyone.
Fantastic place! I followed Dave and Peggy here from their previous studio. After having a nightmare experience at 808 tattoo, I came here and Dave and Peggy were wonderful! I got a makeup tattoo from Peggy, she was gentle and even though it was on my eyes there was very little pain. Dave has done five of my tattoos and his work is outstanding. All of my tattoos are custom and he does an exceptionally good job translating the designs to a beautiful tattoo . The customer service is fantastic and they are both professional and great at what they do!! I wish I still lived in Hawaii so I could get the rest of my tattoos done by Dave!! As the other reviewer says A+++++
PARKING: Another great thing about his place is the parking! Since they are basically at Ala Moana mall, there is ample parking!
