I should have took the hint when I arrived and every sign out front was lit EXCEPT for body piercing ... WORST experience ever! I went elsewhere ..
I just left "InkSessions" Tattoo on Lankershim and had my other nipple successfully dotted, clamped an pierced (in a much cleaner and inviting shop!) I was then informed that my piercer at 5150 could have easily torn through my nipple where he was trying to pierce me - which was not at the base, BEHIND my nipple - where he should have been. Thanks for nothing - you guys suck .. sorry.
I got my 3rd tattoo here and I have to say I'm really pleased!
I went in randomly with no call-ahead and I was out with my foot bandaged up within 45 minutes. The only thing I didn't like was the tattoo artist (don't remember his name) talked me into getting my tattoo larger then what I wanted and now I kind of regret it. I didn't want the tattoo as big as he made it but he insisted that it would look best that way.
Aside from that I was extremely happy with going here and will probably go back for my 4th!
Ive gotten tattoos from here before Oso was the owner. The folks then were decent artist and reasonable. I recently went to get a quote from, the now new management under Oso, and was quoted a good price on a 6 inch tattoo with shading. The artist who quoted me was Jeremy. Nice guy and great artist; only been working there a few weeks. We agreed on the price and even offered to work on my arm right then and there. I didnt have the time so I scheduled for the next day, which I cancelled, unfortunately. Jeremy was cool enough to take me in on the following Sunday. I get there and Jeremy tells me that Oso didnt want him doing the tattoo for the price we agreed on and the size had to be smaller. So not only was I asked to pay a third of the price extra, I was asked to make the design smaller. I know this wasnt Jerry's idea. I've heard about Oso's unsavory dealings before, but was willing to look past that since I heard his work is pretty remarkable, so I figured the people he hires were as good - but thats not the point.
The concept of selling a product to a patron usually means whatever price is agreed on should be honored. No matter how under cut the job may be for the vendor, a price agreed upon is a price agreed upon - should be final. Jeremy was obviously put in an awkward position of asking me for more money, from Oso, even though the job was a go and a deposit was made.
The tattoo came out great and Jeremy is a decent artist...it's just his boss is a bad business man. Don't think I'll be coming back.
Called a week in advance for an 8pm appt with Oso. Showed up at 7:45 prepared to get inked. Walked out the door at 8:45 with no tattoo after Oso didn't show up. The shop manager said he texted Oso a few times and that he didn't think Oso remembered he had an appt. After an hour of standing around awkwardly and the shop manager not offering any helpful information we walked. Â Big bummer because Oso's work is award winning and he was super nice on the phone. This is not a reflection of his work, more a reflection how the shop works. I heard about him not showing up for appts on other reviews (not on yelp) and i guess it happens all the time. Â The shop manager didn't care. No call from Oso to apologize or reschedule after the fact. When I'm paying good money for a liitle bit of your time, I expect some professionalism and that just wasn't going to happen at 5150. Â
Took my money elsewhere and I won't be back.
Quite possibly the best under-hyped tattoo parlor in the S.F. Valley.
No pretentious assholes working here, no hourly rates (cost is per piece, not per hour) so you don't get jerked around with "I need a break" all the while the clock is running, and you get good quality work from these guys.
