I am not much of a "yelp-er", with that being said after receiving so many complements on my tattoos I really felt the need to share.  I have several tattoos from a few different tattoo artists, the collection started about 20 years ago.  I must say my favorite pieces are certainly the ones on my arms.

Bobby Trefz at Body Graphics gets it right every time!  I am picky picky picky, when it comes to a forever piece of art on your body- who isn't?  Bobby was SO chill with me and very patient.  We bounced ideas off of each other with what I wanted - He has great ideas.  My portrait of Frida is absolutely amazing, it looks just like the photograph has been placed on my arm.  It is incredible.  The framing (my Niche Box) looks just like metal and all the beautiful flowers are still so bright and stunning as they were last year when Bobby gave them to me.  Our next piece is a Mermaid that is whimsical and equally as beautiful as Frida. Part his design - part mine.
HE is a true master mind of creativity.

I have seen him mostly at the 4th Street Shop between South St and Bainbridge, and its always a good time.  The rest of the staff is cool and down to earth.  Good music flowing every time and it is clean (very important).   Bobby holds great conversation also.  His own original work is mind blowing, reality meets artistic day dreamer.  One day I'll go for one of those too.  GO SEE Bobby if you want to have a good day and a great tattoo as a result.

I've been going to Body Graphics for over 5 years and I've been getting all my work done by Bobby Trefz.  I cannot say enough great things about my experiences and tremendously fantastic tattoos I've received by him. Bobby is a very skilled and talented artist. His art is some of the best work I've seen and I continue to get his one of a kind personal art tattooed on me. He is tremendously courteous and professional but., most of all, his talent and workmanship is perfection. He works with you on your ideas and brings it to life in his drawings and tattoos. I can't wait to get my next tattoo done by Bobby and I continue to recommend him to everyone.

Big thank you to Chris for my awesome asparagus tattoo!  I shopped around the South St area for about an hour or so.  One place was supposed to open at 2, but at 230, someone witha 2pm appointment was still waiting in the rain for the artist to arrive and open shop.  One of the most popular shops gave me a price for my 6 inch clip art idea that was more in line with a new 40 inch flatscreen television, and lots of BS about how the artist could really go crazy with the design I had already chosen.

Chris at Body Graphics made it simple. He looked at the picture on my iPhone, gave me a competitive and reasonable quote, had me emailthe image to his phone and from there he printed it up in the size I wanted and started to set everything up.  It's perfect- exactly what I eanted and more.

Did it hurt? Hell yea it did!  But Chris completed the whole tattoo in color and some excelletband realistic shading in less than one hour!  Made me wonder how my previous tattoo took 3 separate 3 hour long visits...

Highly recommended.  I'll be back soon for my next adventure.. The squirrel tattoo!

    Thanks Chris!

My girlfriend and I have had nothing but great experiences at Body Graphics, we both go to the same artist and every piece he did on us turned out great. I'd consider the tat he did on my hip to be the best tattoo I have gotten to date. It healed nicely and perfectly, he was very friendly and helped me out with the perfect tips for taking care of it. He was great and helped me with exactly what I wanted. My hip tat is fairly large and ran me $120, I'd consider it definitely a fair price and definitely worth how well it turned out. I can't wait to go back and get my other hip piece done.

One of the best tattoos I've gotten.  Staff was friendly but had the perfect stern attitude needed when the wrong people come through the door. Prices were competitive.

As for the previous comments about them being "rude" and "uninterested"... like you said, you were trying to get pre-drawn work done.  Don't forget they are called tattoo ARTISTS for a reason.  Give them an idea, let them run with it, and I bet your experience will be better and prices will be cheaper. Don't be a turd.

I'm new to the world of tattoos and went to Body Graphics for the first time ever this past summer to have a small piece done inside my left ankle. I sheepishly admit that I was pretty nervous since I wasn't sure how to go about the whole affair. Luckily, Andrew was working and made me feel completely at ease. We joked over my wanting a sheep tattoo and he drew up a couple of sketches before I settled on my favorite. He didn't gouge me on the price either and was completely supportive of my being a newbie to the whole tattoo process. He was extremely professional and fastidious about cleanliness and such. He was thorough in his explanation of caring for my newest piece of artwork and gave me his card in case I had any problems. There was no pretentious vibe from this guy and we had a good chuckle over the adorable sheep that now sits above my ankle. I'm planning to go back to get more work done and will definitely give an update then. For my first experience, Body Graphics was pretty great - a clean, professional shop, and Andrew is tops in my book.

A few people here weren't too thrilled about Body Graphics but my husband and I just got ours done this week on the South Street location and I didn't get the 'holier than thou' vibe at all.

We chose the 6th & South location mainly because at the time 4th Street was mobbed with a bunch of kids getting initiated into the world of tattooing. It was a Saturday, so we didn't really expect otherwise.  The artwork on  display on South is actually completely different than the one on 4th Street and the artists were really chill and down to earth. Being the Battlestar Galactica geeks we are, my husband brought a copy of the comic into Body Graphics and the artist was easily able to replicate the phoenix he had wanted. For South Street the $100 dropped on the forearm is nothing to complain about and the $120 on the back of my leg was worth the hour it took to draw up and drill into my body. [Mine was was a little more detailed than my husband's].

The artists seem to give out the rude attitude when the idiots roll in, but once they realize that you're serious and respect them they're pretty cool. Like I said, I can't really comment on the 4th Street one since I never had anything done there, but when going to South Street be serious enough to make an appointment. Don't just walk in and expect to be the center of attention and make sure you have your shit with you if you want something custom.

Also check out No Ka's portfolio's on 4th Street before making a commitment to one shop. They're all the same owner and the artists sometimes rotate, but No Ka probably has the best selection of Eastern-inspired work and authentic tribal styles.

Let me preface this by saying the following: prior to getting this small piece done, I had a medium-sized tat on my inner forearm.  It's about 3"X2" and it stretches from right inside my "ditch" to about 6 inches from my wrist.  I was not a complete tattoo n00b when I went to Body Graphics and I knew to expect some pain, etc.

    Anyway.

I got two tiny paw prints (each about 1"X1") on my calf last fall for $75.  My friend and I went down to Body Graphics kind of a whim, mainly for her to price out a tat and for me to get another one. (More on her ink dramz later.)

To echo the last reviewer, the guy really didn't seem too thrilled to help either one of us out.  When we walked in, we automatically felt like we had barged into a metal head frat unannounced.  We flipped through flash designs for a little bit before breaking down and approaching the two completely uninterested guys.

I knew that I wanted two very basic paw prints high enough on my calf that I could to add to it later when I had more cash, but low enough so it wouldn't look ridiculous.  The guy stared at me with a blank look on his face before grabbing a piece of paper and sketching a couple paw prints.  I wasn't impressed with that.

Meanwhile, my friend pulled out a piece of paper with the word "pride" in Gaelic; she picked a specific font from my computer and printed it when we were at my place.  She explained that she wanted pricing for the back of her neck/upper back.  First, they told her that she'd need to blow up to about 2" high.  Then, they quoted her some sort of outrageous rate for it.  I can't remember offhand, but I think it was in the area of $150.  She tried to keep from laughing in their faces and told them she'd "think about it."  (We later went to another shop that looked at us like we were crazy when we told them about our experience.  They quoted her something around $75 for the size she wanted, $100 for the size Body Graphics wanted her to get.)

I decided to get mine done there anyway.  The guy didn't bother to shave the section he was tattooing.  Not that I was looking like a yeti or anything, but the artist for my first tat quickly shaved the section he was tattooing beforehand.  Maybe this isn't standard and I'm mistaken...if that's the case, just disregard it.  Then the dude started on the tattoo.  I thought I was going to cry.  The guy was incredibly rough on my leg and really jammed the needle in.

This is coming from someone who shifted uncomfortably once or twice when getting her first tattoo done.  Actually, I think healing was much worse than the actual process for me.

So, there he was, jamming the needle in.  He didn't bother to ask me once how I was doing, if I was comfortable, if it was hurting a lot, or if I was just going to drop dead.  Again, this was a huge change from my first, where the artist was checking in every five or ten minutes, ESPECIALLY if I looked a little uncomfortable at any point.

Afterwards, the guy didn't bother to give me aftercare instructions or to make sure I even remembered what to do.  I wound up getting another aftercare sheet from the shop we stopped at later (so my friend could get pricing and we could vent about Body Graphics).  Everyone there looked shocked as hell when I told them they didn't run through instructions with me again or anything.

The ONLY reason this place gets a whopping 3 stars from me instead of 2 is because the work looks great still.  It hasn't faded and I don't need any sort of a touch up, which is amazing, considering that my first tat had a few places that needed touching up right away.  If you don't really care about any sort of customer service whatsoever, or the possibility of getting ripped off, by all means, go to Body Graphics!
