You just gotta check this place out whether or not you're getting your flesh modified! Carries really awesome jewelries. *Super* friendly staff at front (didn't get her name...), and Paul, my piercer, made this whole process smooth and easy (thanks really, I decided to get my septum pierced on a whim!), a super affable guy. You will not feel intimidated even if you're not heavily tattooed or pierced at all. Definitely a gem in the neighborhood!
Review Source:I had my back dimples pierced with dermals  (at a different piercing place on Haight) a few years ago, and over time one of them rejected and came out on its own. So I was stuck with one very awkward and lopsided dermal, and the place where I got it done refused to take it out. Luckily they referred me to Braindrops instead! My friend actually had a dermal she needed to get removed too, so we went together. The lady in the front was very sweet and straightforward, we filled out release forms and Paul showed up a few minutes later to help us out. My friend went first, her dermal was already partially out so hers came out very easily. Mine was more difficult. I was pretty nervous but Paul was very conversational and nice so I felt very at ease. First he tried to see if he could just pull it out, but it was stuck in there pretty good. So he used a needle to "pierce it out." It wasn't bad at all. The best part was that it only cost $15! I was expecting a lot more because they were pretty expensive to get done and it seems like places that are willing to remove dermal piercings are pretty rare.
Overall, I am extremely happy with how quick, cheap, and relatively painless the procedure was. Paul was really sweet and funny, especially compared to the really pompous people I have come in contact with at most piercing and tattoo places. Thanks Braindrops!
