THIS REVIEW IS SO HARD TO WRITE!! Ugh, no idea where to begin....
I was on the hunt to get a new tattoo and was on the hunt for someone who wowed me as well as had a style that suited mine. A second objective for me which may sound trivial to some was to find someone friendly and someone I could feel comfortable and at ease with.
Foraging through Yelp and sorting through endless reviews, I cam across Cyclops Tattoo and the work of Jason Stein and Cicely Daniher. I found both had impressive work and almost every review mentioned how either artist was very receptive and easy going to work with.
I saw a piece by Jason related to what I wanted and was like "damn that looks frickin' amazing" and decided to work with him. I don't live in SF and worked with him via email explaining what I wanted. While it wasn't a complicated piece, I was nervous as I hadn't seen the design til I walked in for my appointment. The design was what I wanted (and more) and I felt at ease (which can be hard when you're extremely ticklish) when he began his work.
There was an apprentice (pupil, associate, etc), and partway through he began explaining certain techniques to her. Not only did I feel even more confident in his ability but I also learned something new! And he was just as easy going and patient with her as a teacher.
After roughly an hour and a half my piece was finished and voila! I fell in love (still am) with it as soon as I saw it. I was giddy (in my head I was literally saying OMG over and over again) and it came out better than I imagined. It was worth every penny and I found it to be very reasonably priced. His lining, shading/coloring, attention to detail is AMAZING. I will definitely come back for future pieces from him.
ALSO, Cicely is just as awesome. She was working on another girl's thigh tattoo while I was there and it came it out beautifully!
Both are truly talented and friendly. Maybe friendly is overrated but I personally think nice gets you a lot further than talent.
In summary.... I recommend them to anybody/everybody!
