This place is a joke!! Â Stopped in to look at some portfolio's and the kid was only concerned about when I was getting it done! I told him within a year, I needed to decide how I want it done! He then told me to go decide and come back in a year! I was shocked, then when I showed him a pic for some advice, he then said, " is that what you want, let's do it". I said no I need to figure out how I want it . He then told me to get out!! This time, a little mad, I handed him his card back and he told me to get the F*** out!! Â Now that is customer service! I feel sorry for the people who work with this guy, because he is costing you money!! Good luck.
Review Source:So my best friend and I went there to get our first tattoos. Â We had begun to talk about price but I was more concerned with the piece. Â When we decided we wanted to go with them we paid a deposit (which I knew was non-refundable), but assumed I could negotiate price when the appt came (since I knew he was way over charging). Â I sent him an email that night requesting to negotiate on price but "he didn't get it." Â When we came in to sign papers and I tried to negotiate price again he refused to hear any of it, said that I KNEW that was the set price b/c I paid the deposit and I said No, because you never said that and we didn't sign or agree to anything. Â I was ready to walk away, but my friend didn't think it was worth the argument. Â I believe I probably paid 2x what I should have.
The only reason, this place isn't getting 1 star (which is what I would have given for having no shame in taking advantage of their customers) is because unlike the manager he was really nice. Â Eric is a great job on the tattoo! Â I really appreciated how his face lit up when he realized we liked his work (so he actually cares about making you happy and doing a good job). Â He answered all my questions and was really patient with my indecisive friend who literally asked the same question like 5x. Â Also, the place was really clean and we saw how everything was deposable one time use.
So if you're fine with REALLY over paying for your tattoo for a patient and awesome artist, and you're fine with dealing with a pushy sales guy this is a place for you. Â Trade-offs I guess... :(
I don't know about their skill, but I can tell you the customer service leaves much to be wanted. Â I walked in this afternoon looking to get my first piece and the girl behind the counter (totally sitting there like she's too good for the world) not only didn't say hello, look up or even acknowledge me standing there, but it was totally obvious she knew I was there. Â This, ladies and gentelemen, is why I'm SO over SoBe.
After deciding I work too hard to resort to begging her highness to speak to me, I simply grabbed my things, walked out the door and went to the next place.
Last night, I did consultations with a bunch of tattoo artists up and down Washington Avenue. I had a two requirements:
My artist needs to use vegan inks, and
My artist needs to vibe with my artwork.
So I talked with artists, looked through portfolios, got estimates, and then made my decision.
Luciana at First Class Tattoo is AMAZING! She met my needs with vegan ink, and she took my original artwork and created something so phenomenal, I'm almost beyond words. I never knew that anything could be so cute and whimsical, and so badass at the same time!
I grabbed a bunch of business cards, because I have a feeling this piece is going to get a lot of attention, and I just loved Luciana so much that I really want to send her more business (she's not just a talented artist--she's a sweetheart--I want her to be my new best friend, LOL!). (And actually, EVERYONE who works there was awesome--both managers, Michelle and Tara, and the other artists--I was there for HOURS and had SO much fun!)
Another great thing is that they carry After Inked, which is an all natural, cruelty free/vegan tattoo after-care moisturizer.
If you're into tattoos, you know that the good ones take time and money. This was worth every penny. The shop was clean, with awesome original artwork on the walls (some of it Luciana's)--no walls loaded with cheap flash. The artists that work here are, well...ARTISTS.
So go get tattooed at First Class Tattoo. Ask for Luciana and you'll have work as cool as mine: <a href="/redir?url=http%3A%2F%2Fyfrog.com%2Fh4p1kjoj&s=c26deb8959576ffea008461e58bfda724e94c5c9e5f34e7f91e06616226f12a5" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">http://yfrog.com/h4p1kjoj</a>, <a href="/redir?url=http%3A%2F%2Fyfrog.com%2Fh25d2ntj&s=4268cc6fe9712e63d95076af56316a06367b425a876c47ba02e4a36ee006d91e" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">http://yfrog.com/h25d2ntj</a>, <a href="/redir?url=http%3A%2F%2Fyfrog.com%2Fh0prvusj&s=97833f986b4e4e9fabdd6af5925331e87166973e83b0eab5347f14f39bb9db57" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">http://yfrog.com/h0prvusj</a>.
Enjoy! Happy Ink'ing!
The artist Alex was very nice, honest, knowledgeable, and creative enough to run with my ideas and images to draw up something I loved; the female manager on the other hand was a gamer, something akin to a taxi driver in Indonesia.
I overheard her "negotiating" the price with the artist and the artist stating that it was too high ($450) was the number. She then laughed and said "you're much nicer than me, because I'm a bitch. But because you said cut it at least in half, then I'll tell her $250".
After quoting me this price, she started speed-talking like a used car salesman pushing a lemon with statements like "he's already drawing your piece", "Miami is the best place in the world for tattooing".
I informed her the price was too much and that I was willing to negotiate. I told her I had been tattooed around the world and live in NYC, when she turned into a dragon growling "NYC has the worst tattoo artists"- right then I knew she was all about selling a tourist, and not about honest pricing for great quality.
From one "bitch" to another, don't ever try to game someone and let them overhear your plays.
So... We went in today after talking with Michelle and we were informed that we could get touched up (for free of course). She also explained to us that the Ink that we were tattooed with (ultra violet) tends to fade out, only leaving the UV, so its visible under a black light... This was NOT explained to us before getting inked. WHY in the world would someone get inked with fading ink!? Our days of fist pumping in black lite clubs are LONG gone!
Anyway, she told us to come on in and Michale would fix it for us. Boy was she wrong! He wasnt happy about it and let it be known. Scrambling to make us happy, and keeping a level of professionalism, Michelle scurried outside to make some calls while Michale sulked at the drafting desk painting a picture.
At this Point we are thinking "man, do we really want an angry dude tattooing us?!" I was the brave one, and went 1st. Its was a quick 15 min fix up. Ashely S.... was next. Or so we thought. Michale was not happy about doing 2 "free" tattoos, even though he was told he would be taken care of by the owner.
We decided that Ashe would go back another day. Michelle wouldnt have it. She quickly ran us across the street (in her 6' pumps) to Miami Tattoo Co, which is owned by the same people.
They were VERY friendly and a girl named Carley (I think) took Ashley without question and plopped her in her chair. And bada bing, she was done.
Michelle kept apologizing for the Michale situation and felt horrible. Later that night, I got a phone call from the OWNER of the shops. Julianne was super sorry & embarrassed at what went down that day. For the OWNER of a business to call me personally.... that's HUGE.
Thank you Ladies for being so professional in a difficult and uncomfortable situation. We will definitely be back.
You ROCK.
Oh and Mickey and Ivan Rock too, just make sure to tell people that the UV ink fades. ;)
Had a great experience at this spot the day after the Super Bowl for my first tattoo! Â Me and two friends decided last week that we would pay tribute to our great home town - NEW ORLEANS!!! with fleur de lis tattoos. Â After stopping in Miami Ink and one other spot on Washington we found our man at First Class. Â Suzy, the manager and Ivan the artist were very accommodating to our requests. Â It was a very clean, sterile place with great music! Â I highly recommend this place.
