Ment to write this a little while ago but now is better than never! My girlfriend and I decided to spontaneously go get tattoos last monday evening. Went on yelp and found several good reviews on tattoo parlors around san diego and decided to give Funhouse a call. The gentleman on the phone at the time was very helpful and said that one of the artists would be available for us to do a walk in. The place is CLEAN and bright which gives it a nice feel. They had some good music playing as well. We were lucky enough to have Markus free to tattoo us on such short notice. He is very nice and laid back. Working on my gf's tattoo first he was very patient in designing it exactly how she wanted it. After her I told him the idea I wanted and he quickly drew up exactly what I wanted. Markus is very precise with his lines and cares for his customers and their tattoos. We are extremely happy with our tattoos and plan on coming back to him in the future. As for the whole shop it is like I said very clean and the atmosphere is nice and laidback. Though we only met 2 of the artists,their staff is very nice and ofcourse talented. I would definitely recommend Funhouse tattoos to anyone of my friends, family, and/or strangers!
Review Source:Much like there are two sides of a coin and two opinions on the quality of Mumford & Sons, there are two opinions on tattoos.
Mine is simply, if you want them and you know you want them, get them.
This place is a really stand-up professional joint from my experience. In fact, it's one of the few reasons I'd venture back to the part of town known as PB.
Some of the perks are as follows:
* Cool/interesting/personally tailored booths.
* Fun Decor(heh, I suppose with a name like Funhouse that's a given)
* The entire staff is friendly. You know how when you over hear the BOH staff at a restaurant shooting the crap during the downtime rather than bickering over who's turn it is to clean the sink? It gives you a good vibe. This place has a great staff that doesn't seem pretentious or petty. They handle work like champs.
* Affordable rates for a pro shop. I got 14 letters done in less than an hour.
* The place just feels cleaner than half of the doctors offices I've been in.
* A decent soundtrack to occupy your mind while your epidermis gets pierced 100's of times a minute.
* No lingering smell of party/booze/lovin'/drugs/dead mice. No urgency, no attitudes, no problems whatsoever.
* Up-frontness. Honesty. Appointments. Comfort.
* Some seriously talented artists. Considering my stick figures look more like jail-drawn twig people, I have immense respect for folks with bonafide artistic talent.
The drawbacks:
Uhhhh, they don't have a pool table? Come to think of it, you can walk right down the street and hit up Society if your looking to shoot pool. This is a tattoo parlor, not a pool hall.
  I recently got some ink done by Markus. He was friendly, solidly cool, professional, quick(but not rushed), and spot on. Everyone has their favorites. Nonetheless, I was immensely satisfied with his attitude and the quality of work done. Looks like the letters came straight off of a printing press. Scratch that, better than most printing presses.
If you're in the market for a new guy/studio, give this place a shot. Yelp even has a special going on at the time of writing that will help out with the rates. $115 for 150 of store credit, allegedly.
HEY YELP------ MAKE SURE YOU PAY THEM!!!
