Grizzly is easily one of the finest shops in Portland!

I can't even begin to tell you how pleased I am with all the work that Rich Cuellar has done for me. I have worked with him six times now and have my 7th visit already on the calendar.  Not only is he a great artist, the time spent sitting in the chair always includes good conversations about music, food, bikes, silly shit, etc. Do yourself a favor and give him a call to schedule a sitting.

Keep up the great work gang!

Tyler created something original and gorgeous, i'm utterly in love with it!

After checking out many shops, Tyler was definitely the person to create a large two-leg piece that i'd been milling around in my brain-space. His portfolio immediately struck me, in that way great art does (makes you feel something). I'd met him when he worked on a friend and he has a wonderful demeanor, which is very important - you want to actually like the person creating permanent work on your body. He's also been very patient with my weird little preferences, ongoing editorial, and non-stop expletives while he works on me.

Everyone in the shop is very friendly, professional, unpretentious, and generally nice humans! Not to mention the beautiful portfolios. I already have more tattoos in my mind and Grizzly will definitely be where I get them!

We happened upon this shop while we were waiting to get a table at Tasty N' Sons on vacay from San Diego.  They hadn't opened yet so we swore we would stop in again after our meal to check things out as I had already swore that I would get another tattoo in the mother of all tattoo cities.

I'm so glad we went and I don't know how I'll ever go to another shop again.

After breakfast, we came back and met Eric who was super friendly and approachable.  I made an appointment to get a rose (before I found out from a guy in Walgreens that Portland has the moniker, "The Rose City") and happened to meet the owner of the shop, Tyler.  We told them they had been, thus far in our trip, the nicest people we'd met in Portland besides the people at the hotel we were staying at and it wasn't long before we learned that Tyler was actually from north San Diego county!

Needless to say, we came back later in the day for my scheduled appointment in which Eric had drawn a rose exactly the way I had imagined it.  In no time it was permanently etched into my right shoulder and I knew that I'd be back to get the quarter sleeve it will eventually belong to.

Thankfully, we're headed to eastern Oregon later this year, and my boyfriend and I have already set aside time to *hopefully* be able to make an appointment with Eric again because I couldn't imagine getting it done anywhere else.  This is the kind of shop that is awesome for tattoo virgins and veterans alike (the rose was my third tattoo personally), and I recommend it to anyone visiting the area who might have an inkling to go get some quality body art.  The artists are hella talented, serious about their art, and super laid back.

My only disappointment?  That there isn't a shop in SD!

Another tattoo shop in Portland to add to my roster, now that Shauna's there. YESSSSSSSSS.

The shop itself I can't yet speak of, but this little gal is amazing with her craft. Don't let her small stature and warm, friendly nature fool you. This girls not only knows her way around a tattoo gun and ink, she knows how to BUILD a tattoo machine. Not to mention custom tattoo designs and unlike most any tattoo artist i've ever met, she doesn't dick around with appointment times. If your appointment is at 11am, you'lll start shortly after 11am. Not 45 minutes after your appointment time.

Love this lady. I'll be here next month to finish a piece on my forearm that she started over at Robot.

I am writing this review for a new artist moving in, Shauna. I got my first tattoo from her 5 years ago and have gone back several times since for more. I have so many good things to say about her. She has drawn up all of my tats and I constantly receive compliments about them. Her work is so intricate and beautiful. I am really excited to hear she's moving to a location with extended hours, since I have one of those boring 8-5 office jobs. Can't wait to come here and get my next piece with Shauna!

I have been following Eric around to new shops for a few years now and Grizzly is the newest place in his career. Every artist that works here is very friendly and the shop has a good atmosphere. It helps when the artist is social so that talking can distract you from the pain! Eric has always been helpful when it has come time to do a touch up or when I have wanted to add more on. Grizzly is a good shop to come to if you are looking to get a tattoo.

I wish I could give this tattoo shop 0 stars. After signing up at 12:40 at Grizzly Tattoo for Friday the 13th, we waited 5 and a half hours and found out that in fact we would not be getting tattooed even though the receptionist told us to stick around and that surely we would since we were near first of the line. After consulting the manager, she said we could come back another day and pay 4 times the price. I also saw the receptionist had gotten a tattoo and also friends of the artists before the customers. Also I was really upset because someone that came in four hours after me got tattooed. I am really really disappointed and I will make sure to steer clear of Grizzly tattoo in the future. I HATE THIS PLACE.

Rich did a great job- found out half way through that I was his first tattoo at the new shop. Pretty awesome. The final product was well worth what I paid!

I just got my first tattoo the other day.  It took me a long time to figure out what I wanted to get and a bit longer to figure out who I wanted to actually make it a reality.  Tyler Adams is that man.  A friend had some work done from Tyler and has been going to him for years.  I liked what I saw and we finally made it happen.

Grizzly Tattoo is Tyler's new business.  I guess I get to be his first review.  I had no idea what getting a tattoo would feel like, but Tyler put me at ease.  I have a bit of a high tolerance for pain, so ultimately it wasn't nearly as bad as I thought it would be, but I'm getting ahead of myself.

I wanted something very specific and could visualize what I wanted, but getting it down on paper was a struggle.  A few weeks before getting the tattoo Tyler and I had a consultation.  I showed him a few images I found online and he told me he would come up with something original that I could be proud of.

Fast-forward to the day.  Got to the studio and Tyler was drawing away.  He came up with an initial design which I came back to look at.  It wasn't quite there, but I told him a bit more of what I wanted and in another minute or 2 it was where it needed to be.

The tattoo took less than an hour to complete.  Since it was my first one, Tyler did a small portion just to show me what the pain would be like.  It wasn't bad.  Certain parts of it were worse than others, but I bit down on my teeth, did a bit of grimacing through the rough parts and ultimately got through it.  I am very happy with the final product.

All in all a very good experience.  People say that once you get one tattoo you can't stop.  I'm not sure if that is true for me, but if it is, I'll be heading back to Grizzly for my next one.
