Got matching tattoos here… Overpriced, paid $350 for a small simple outline with some color. The artists were nice and the art turned out fine but dissatisfied overall.

Got my first tattoo here! Â Pony was my artist and was so considerate of my comfort and pain tolerance. Â I was so nervous in the beginning but he made the pain so tolerable. Â I found myself daydreaming at times it was so effortless. Â I have a feeling I'll be back for another.
Cost is $150 an hour. Â Cash only, and there's an ATM in the shop. Â Very small parking lot in the back and plenty of meter parking around. Â Be sure to keep that meter full if you're going to be there a while.
I've gotta say I had one of the best customer service experiences ever here, which for a tattoo shop says a lot. Their name suites them- they are totally honorable! They stand by their work and want you to be completely satisfied. Rick, the manager, is super awesome and goes out of his way to make sure the customer is happy with their tattoo. This cool neighborhood tattoo shop is the spot!
Review Source:I came in to get my first tattoo and was greeted in less than a minute by Monty. I told him what I wanted and where. He gave me an estimate on price and time that it will take. While I was still deciding he showed me the books and I never felt pressured. He took his time with me and I loved my tattoo. He definitely nailed everything I was looking for. As for the rest of the team, very welcoming atmosphere. Highly recommend this place.
Review Source:Okay, listen up! Â Never wanted a Tattoo but, had a life changing experience. Â Soooo, I got one. Â My first but, Â NOT my last! Â Did a TON of research, stopped by several shops and looked at LOTS of ACTUAL Artwork. Â Not just the stuff on the walls but the actual TATS and TATS posted on their website(s). Â Some "artist(s)" don't even post their work. Â Do not go unless you see THEIR WORK! Â Now for the good stuff, in Italy there were/are some GREAT ARTIST(s), 1. Leonardo da Vinci, 2. Raphael, 3. Michelangelo and now, Â 4. "Marco Angelo Cerretelli." Â Yes, he is a modern day Italian ARTIST. Â The lines, the shading, the location the dimension(s) and the ARTISTRY of this Tattoo are amazing. Â Yes, I will be back for more ARTWORK from Marco Angelo! Â Do yourself a favor and research what you want. Â Work with your artist (Marco Angelo) and be as happy as I am with the result. Â Thank you for letting me share and here's hoping your as happy as I am with your Tattoo from Marco Angelo. Â The cost by the way, just a little pricey but for the artwork, well worth it! KJD
Review Source:I was looking to get another tattoo. I currently live in Houston, but was going to be flying back home to visit family & friends. I started my search online for a trustworthy shop who could work with me since I would be flying in from out of town, and needed to nail down an appointment since my schedule was pretty tight while I was in LA.
I did my research online for shops and artists, and came across Eric's portfolio online. His work online and in his books is awesome! His coloring, shading and playfulness to his work was exactly what I wanted! He didn't have your typical old school tattoos you can find on any wall of any shop, His use of bright and bold colors is awesome!
Since my trip was a week away, I called immediately and was lucky he was in the shop. I spoke with him to explain my situation and that I was specifically flying in from out of town and would like him to do my next tattoo if possible. His schedule was pretty booked, but he was VERY accommodating. Â He booked an appointment for me, and his communication was excellent! He gave me his cell # and email address so I could email him my info and ideas of what I wanted him to do for my next piece. We even touched base a couple days before my appointment.
When I came in to meet with Eric, we discussed what I was looking for. I knew exactly what I wanted, and even had a few different images I wanted to use but I wasn't quite sure how I wanted it to be put together on my arm to give it some sort of flow. (especially if I wanted to add more later) Â He took all of my ideas, and rather than printing out the images I emailed him, he quickly drew it up himself and pieced it all together and he nailed it! Â I couldn't have put it all together the way he did.
He was gentle (meaning he doesn't dig too deep) he's personable, talkative, and funny. He really knows what he's doing to get you the results you want. His knowledge of business overall, the history, and how the industry changes in what people want is a huge asset. He even took time and consulted my sister on one of her tattoos that someone else had done that wasn't healing very well. He told her what to do and how to treat it since her original tattoo artist dug way too deep, leaving a lot of scar tissue and then gave her crappy healing treatment advice.
I Highly recommend this shop! It's clean, professional, comfy, and the staff was all really cool to be around. Whether you are seeking your 1st tattoo or if you have full body tats, they make you feel comfortable and welcome to be there, whereas some shops I've been in don't make you feel welcome if you aren't completely tatted up or have a certain "look".
Eric's work is awesome, and his attention and repertoire he builds with his customers is great! Â I believe he only takes appointments, but call in advance to check. Even if you have to wait for his next available appt, his work is worth the wait!
I went to the Honorable Society after asking around for a great tattoo artist/shop, and I had two friends recommend this place. So, of course I did some research and found them to have amazing yelp reviews. I went in on a Friday afternoon after work and just decided to go to whatever artist was available, which might not have been the smartest move, but I can't say enough about how pleased I was with Adam's work. He was a really nice guy, sweet demeanor and he did a fantastic job on my tattoo, which was of a dream catcher which required a lot of detailed line work. The tattoo is healing perfectly after 3 days, and I even had someone say to me that they thought my tattoo was henna because the line work was so well done! I said, no, believe it or not this is real, just fantastically done! I can't speak for the other artists' work, but Adam really did a great job!! I highly recommend him!
Review Source:I couldn't have asked for a better experience at The Honorable Society. This was my first tattoo and I was really nervous. When I went in for my consultation, I found the staff to be friendly and unpretentious -- happy to answer all of my questions -- and the tattoo parlor itself just had a nice, comfy vibe. It's also very clean.
A friend of mine recommended Marco, who was not only super talented, but also professional, patient and honest during the consult and the tattoo itself. When I went in for the actual tattoo, Marco and a few staff members helped me choose the appropriate size and helped me print out the quote with my preferred font at their computer. I was expecting excruciating pain, as the tattoo is on my ribcage, but my first reaction was, "Wait, this is it?" It honestly didn't hurt -- it was a little uncomfortable, but certainly wasn't painful.
Marco is a perfectionist, making sure the tattoo came out beautifully. He really pays close attention to the details, taking his time to make sure it's perfect. He's really talented!
After the tattoo was finished, I gave Marco a big hug because I LOVED the way it came out! They gave me detailed instructions as to how to take care of the tattoo. And when I called up the next day with additional questions, they were happy to answer them.
My experience there was awesome, and this is coming from a "newbie" with a very low tolerance for pain! I highly recommend Marco and the awesome staff at The Honorable Society.
This is a review long overdue for my artist Eric. I got my tattoo back in October. I was a walk in and already had a plan of what I wanted to get. I wanted a phrase tattoo that honors my dad. The only problem was picking a font. After discussing with Eric, he drew something up and it looked amazing. I had it done right after. Keep in mind, this is my first tattoo, but I was very excited and eager to get it. The only thing that worries me is the pain, but when it just a feeling of numbness when that needle touched my skin. It was easy and painless. Eric was very helpful, giving detailed information and easy to talk to. He is very experienced and a talented artist. He is chill to talk to and he does exceptional work. Make sure you check out his book in the waiting area!!! I love my tattoo after 6 months since I got it and I plan to get another one this week.
Review Source:GREAT, GREAT GREAT. Just got my first tattoo and I'm in my 50's. Im very pleased with the results. knowledgeable staff, patient answered all my questions. So it was a done deal. Monty was the artist. It took about 30 min to do a small tattoo. I actually started to does off i was so relaxed.
Im for sure thinking of my next tattoo
I just got my second tattoo with Eric for my birthday and I'm obsessed. He was super chill, which helped me relax( I was getting the tattoo on my ribs and I was terrified!). I'm in love with the end result. The price was not bad at all, I think I should have given him more than what he asked for. Will be going back for the rest of my tattoos for sure!
Review Source:I so wanted this place to do my first tattoo! Â I drove by a lot and this place looks way cool and comfy inside. Â So with cash inhand, I drove over to start the process on getting my new tatt.
I walked in and no one spoke to me or helped me out for like 20 minutes. Â It was not busy at all! Â Got a bad vibe about customer service and attention to detail...so I left.
:-(
I was looking to get a new piece, so like always, I was doing my research and then I saw this tattoo shop as I was driving down Santa Monica. I had to stop because the look and feel of the shop was much different than many other shops, and I can tell you right now that the experience was too - it was much better.
The people working there are really friendly and are not intimidating AT ALL. I was helped right away asked to return when the artist I was interested in working with came back, it was Marco, by the way. I came back the following day, talked to Marco about what I was interested in getting, gave me a rough estimate and scheduled an appointment.
To make a long story short, I went for my appointment and did not feel that anything was rushed. Marco was very attentive and you could tell that he wanted me to be satisfied with the art, something I highly appreciate. We thought the piece would take about two hours but it ended up taking three hours! Marco usually charges by the hour and I was surprised when he told me I only owed him for two hours, despite the piece taking much longer. Anyway, the piece came out absolutely amazing! I was completely satisfied. I definitely recommend Marco for anyone looking for a perfect piece - as long as you convey what you want Marco can really take over, he's a great artist and a perfectionist.
The shop is just great, and quite honestly I would recommend any of the other artists as well because the vibe was just so down to earth.
I will definitely be returning to this shop for more tattoos. :D
This really is as good as it gets, one of the BEST shops in Los Angeles!
Marco is an absolutely amazing artist! I walked in with a few scattered ideas for a half sleeve and he created a great piece. I looked around a lot before deciding on Marco (I'm very particular about shading/black&gray tattoos) and couldn't find anything of his that I disliked. He pays very close attention to detail and always seems to deliver (from what his previous reviews say). My only critique would be that when I walked in for my first appointment he hadn't drawn anything up yet and actually had to ask what exactly it was that I wanted again. At first it concerned me, considering I was trusting someone to deliver me a piece that will be on my body for the rest of my life. I told him again what it was that I wanted and let him go to work on the sketch. However, despite my initial hesitation he did deliver. I guess that just goes to show his true talent. I would definitely recommend Marco if you are looking for a great Black & Grey tattoo. He knows what he's doing.
Review Source:I was pretty nervous going in as this was my first tat. I had the pleasure of working with Jorell who went through the process with me and tatted me with the exact tat I wanted in just 25 mins while holding a friendly conversation the whole time! There was no pain and the price was great! On top of the great service, the shop itself is a real classy looking place and not intimidating at all like most other tattoo parlors. I definitely recommend going here and ask for Jorell! We even went out for drinks after! I will def be going there for my next tat.
Review Source:I've been to this tattoo parlor a total of 5 times. Â Very clean place with unique decorations. Â The staff is knowledgeable. Monty did a 3 part tattoo on me. His attention to detail is remarkable. He is also friendly and extremely competent. Â I highly recommend Monty and the honorable society!
Review Source:I have had great experiences at The Honorable Society. Â I got 4 lettering tats with Monty. He's really amazing. Â He is knowledgeable about the calligraphic designs very much; that's why I trust him every time! Â I love all of my beautiful tats. Â Strongly recommended;))
Thanks Monty!
First off, I never write Yelp reviews but, this is by far one of the best places to get a tattoo in Los Angeles. I've never had a bad experience. Everyone is super nice and helpful. I took my friend here to get her first tattoo by Josh and it went perfectly. I highly recommend The Honorable Society to anyone who wants a tattoo.
Review Source:As with my other body art, I extensively researched who I would get to ink my body, especially since this is something that would be permanent. After a long time, I decided to get my tattoo done at Honorable Society. This isn't your run-of-the-mill dive type of tattoo parlor. It is eclectic yet elegantly decorated and most importantly, clean. Marco, who did my tattoo, not only has the artistic background but the technical know-how as well. Yes, getting tattooed is painful but I felt comfortable and at ease during the whole process. Likewise, the healing process went quickly and without a hitch. I had to return to the shop quite a few times as I was getting a large tattoo and each session was just as good. The Honorable Society is now my tattoo parlor of choice and I highly recommend it.
Also, with regards to that review below commenting on how people didn't get up from the couches to help him, per my observation, the couches were mostly for clients. No wonder none of them got up to help him. Likewise, the shop is in a gay area. To say that he was given bad service because he was gay seems preposterous. While I was there, I saw many different types of people get their tattoos done. All seemed to have received the same excellent service I received.
I got 3 of all my tattoos in this place and I really Love them all!
Eric Alvino is the one who always takes care of me, he knows his job, but what I really love about this place is that each tattoo artist has his own signature style. You just have to walk in, look at the artist book, choose your favorite and any idea they'll make it happen.
Best tattoo shop in the LA area
I was in LA visiting my girlfriend who goes to UCLA, and the second night we were there, we decided - hey, let's go get tattooed! She had her idea for a while, but I flipped through some books looking at some of the flash that was in there. I had always wanted a shark on me, but I never really remembered that I did until I wasn't in a shop, but I came across some old school flash sharks and instantly said "THAT!"
All of the artists were busy when we were in there, so someone took down my number and we headed back to the hotel room to hang out for a bit. After a few hours, they called us saying that they were available and so we headed down to the shop. It was much less busy than it was earlier when we were in.
I got greeted by Josh Schneider, and I must admit, I was intimidated. I usually hate people who judge people by their tattoos, being all sleeved out and all myself, but it's hard not to be a little taken by someone who is covered, literally head to toe. Let me say now that he was one of the nicest guys I've ever met in my life. Our music taste and theories were completely in sync, it was like he was just an older me with Sid Vicious on his head.
He drew up a sick shark and within 5 minutes we were all in. It was a great experience.
I'll definitely be back any time i'm in LA in the future :)
I was standing in the shower today looking at my all of my tattoos and there is only one that I am unhappy with, the one from The Honorable Society. In retrospect, there were signs that it was not going to end well. First: when I called to make an appointment only to be told that they do not take appointments. It seems to me that putting something on your body that will last forever warrants scheduling. Second: I walked in to find 5 or 6 guys sitting on couches, non of whom got up to help me. When I approached them they gave me what must have been the least desirable artist. Maybe he was new. I don't know because he did not speak English.
Like an idiot, I moved forward and got the tattoo. It was a simple two word design, so I figured only someone with no experience could execute it. Well, guess what. It looks like shit. It is blurry, the lines bleed and I hate it. I wish I could rewind time and go elsewhere.
Also, This may just be me, but I did not feel very welcome in there. I got the vibe that it was because I am gay, but that could have just been in my head. Maybe they were all just cold and it had nothing to do with me.
I CANNOT BELIEVE THAT THIS PLACE HAS 5 STARS - It looks like they are mostly from girls. Perhaps you get better service or a better artist if you have tits!
This is a great place to get a tattoo. Â The two artists I've used have been amazing. Â Marco is hands down, one of THE best artists out there. Â We used to go to Shamrock on Sunset, the artists there are also fantastic, however, their prices don't seem fair/consistent and it's crazy to try and get an appointment.
Honorable is always flexible and Marco is SUCH a genuine guy, polite and his work is phenomenal. He is one of the best artists around. This is the place I will continue to go back to. Â The only thing I would say I don't like is the fact that being repeat customers, they actually require we put a deposit down when we make an appointment. Â While I understand because they have people who probably cancel or don't show up, I do feel if you're someone who has been coming over and over and never canceled (which in the tattoo world, if you're going to make an appointment, YOU BETTER SHOW UP out of respect), then we should not have to put down a deposit. Â For those out there who have given this less than 4 or 5 stars, this is a tattoo place, if you want a 5-star hotel with valet and a concierge who is going to hold your hand head to The London or The Four Seasons. Â This is a tattoo parlor. Â
In any case, check out their work, I've brought friends and family here and they have always left happy!
Two words: Josh Schneider. After being tattooed 5 times since the age of 16 (I used a fake ID at some dump in Venice for my first one, shhh don't tell) I can honestly say that my experience with Josh at The Honorable Society has by far been the best.
I decided on a whim to get a tattoo on the side of my hand recently. It was a Friday night and I had nothing else going on so I figured, why not? The shop I last went to, was closed already so I actually got on Yelp to see what my other options were. The HS showed up as a 5-star establishment so I headed over. When I walked in I was stoked to see a place so bright, clean and tasteful. There was good music playing and I knew I was in the right place. The friendly floor manager helped me and my husband out right away and I was paired up with Josh. My first thought was "oh shit, I want this dainty, feminine hand tattoo and they put me with the punk dude." But I was soon reminded of how ridiculous it is to judge a book by its cover when Josh came over with a warm smile and handshake. I showed him the word, font and placement that I wanted and he worked with me to come up with a script that would look and read the best in that particular spot on my hand. There was no pretention, no feeling of being judged or any of those other nasty attitudes I've dealt with in other shops.
He quickly got to work. We chatted throughout the whole session and learned about our shared love of 80's skateboarding, music, LA, etc. Before I knew it I was done. And the real test was next...I walked up to the mirror to take a look at it and was absolutely blown away. It was EXACTLY what I wanted. It was (and is)...beautiful.
So beautiful in fact, that I came back a month later to get another one on my other hand. This time was even better because I knew I'd be receiving yet another stellar tattoo. And I was right. Yet again, Josh didn't let me down - not when it came to customer service, artistry or quality.
I can't speak about the other artists in the shop since I haven't had any work done by them, but I have a feeling that when you find an artist that you respect, they tend to have integrity and pride and wouldn't risk their reputations by working amongst hacks. Which leads me to believe that any member of The Honorable Society would make you quite happy.
Now what do I get next...
Monty is amazing! Â Since I moved to LA seven years ago I have been searching for a good tattoo artist/parlor. Â I have gotten a few from random places, nothing to rave about. Â So when I decided to dive into finishing my sleeve on my right arm, I decided to really find a good place to go. Â Found them on Yelp, decided to swing by and check them out. Â The guy who helped me first was really nice but his art wasn't my style so I started checking out their books and came across Monty. Â He happened to be working that day as well, told him my idea and he said give him a couple days and he'd email me a sketch. Â The next day, in my inbox there it was and I had zero changes. Â My piece is almost complete and I couldn't be happier. Â I would highly recommend this place. Â Everyone is cool as shit, no attitudes here (which a lot of tattoo shops have). Â Definitely one of the best shops I've ever been to.
Review Source:Compared with others this is a good shop, overall. The vibe is cool except for the deer-in-the-headlights look and awkward silence I received every time I walked in (I'm not a hot female). It was pretty easy to get my piece done and it looks good but the tattooer jumped the lines a few times... It it took multiple calls/trips to the shop and FB messages to have it touched up because a lot of the color fell out and it seemed like I was asking for the world but only took 10min to fix me up...no big deal, right? He didn't even shave my arm this time around--just threw the ink down, jumped the lines again and covered some of the white highlights. Great artist overall but lacking certain basic personal skills. The main colors still aren't what I wanted even tho they were written on my sketch and I told him on both visits. I'm so over this place and will have my guy finish it, which is what I should've done in the first place. Perhaps my experience is a fluke but it's my experience. Go with Marco or go home!
Review Source:A friend highly recommended this place. He had beautiful script of his wife's name inside his upper arm done there. I wanted my husbands initials on my wedding ring finger. This was my very first tattoo and Eric made me feel at ease right away and explained to me that in such a small area it had to be very simple. I didn't want plain block letters but he designed something beautiful. It is so delicate, yet striking.
It's the initials RA with flare! With Eric's special care instructuions I know it will look amazing forever. Thanks Eric!
Got a tattoo from Josh. He is very knowledgeable and very chill. There is no pressure whatsoever, and he'll walk you through the entire process in a stress-free way. My tattoo healed up badly (it happens), so I had to go back a couple months later for a touch-up. No problem at all, and now my ink looks perfect 8 months later. I would recommend anyone go to Josh; I will be bringing my wife in for her first ink sometime soon!
Review Source:First off, the vibe here is unlike any other shop I've been to..it's decorated like an antique store...it's actually really cool just standing in the shop and looking at all the wall art...but on to the tattoo-ing-
I got mine done by Pony who was really sweet and detailed in his work. He took a lot of time just drawing my idea out and he took quite a bit of time actually completing the tattoo even though it was not too big! Very patient and nice!
Only thing is, I came in for a cover-up and instead of thinking of different options they just said they couldn't do it. Which is fine, but I had hoped that they would give me suggestions or tips on covering my horrendously ugly tattoo.
But I ended up getting another nice one from Pony so it cancels out!
It is also pricier than most but it is quality work so think of it as an investment!
I had been wanting to get my first tattoo for a long time and finally decided to gift myself one for my birthday this year. I asked friends for referrals but after finding THS on yelp, I knew this was my tattoo place! I walked in on a Friday and was tattooed by Sean O. Hill. He's super chill and was delicate while tattooing me. I spent $100 (+ tip) and had a yelp coupon which was awesome. My tattoo isn't super fancy or elaborate but I am so in love with it and admire it daily :) HIGHLY recommend this place!
Review Source:My friend and I were a walk in on a Saturday. Loved it! Definitely worth the wait (but I guess some artists had called in sick that day). I got a tattoo from Adam, he was amazing. Definitely all the guys working there are funny and clearly awesome at what they do. What more can I say? I literally came back on Yelp just to write this after a long Yelp-free hiatus. Everyone should share pricing, IMHO, so my tattoo which was about 3" long by 2" wide on my ribcage cost me about $120 + TIP obviously. They have an ATM inside if you forget to bring cash but don't forget. Most tattoo parlors only accept cash, duh!
Will definitely be back if/when the next bug hits. Thanks guys! Awesome place, good work.
I received my first tattoo from Arlene Darling over a year ago at THS. I came in with an idea that I was pretty excited about. She sat with me and explained why some of the things I wanted wouldn't look good when I got older. Taking her advice, she designed a new piece for me, which I fell in love with.
Fast forward to now, I've just completed session two of three on my latest tattoo. Arlene has been nothing but nice, professional and attentive during the process. She has amazing skill and does everything possible to make you feel comfortable.
While she's the only one who has tattooed me, I've interacted with a few other people from the shop. Everyone who works here is kind and funny. You can't find a cooler more relaxed place to get a tattoo.
At first I thought this place was a little pricey, but when the tattoo was finished it was very nice. This is a good place to go to when getting a detailed tattoo. Price was 150$ an hour. Overall a nice little shop with cool decorations and pictures on the wall. If getting something simple go to a less expensive shop.
Review Source:After being discouraged from the other shop I go to, about a certain coverup I wanted done, I was pretty miserable thinking I'd have to settle with a tattoo I didn't even want, because it's the only thing the guy said would work. Â I had a quarter sized "blue" blob of a tattoo on my right wrist (it was *supposed* to just be a solid blue circle. Supposed to be. SUPPOSED.) and I figured out to cover it, I wanted to start a half sleeve of flowers on my forearm (I'm a plant nut). At the other shop, the guy said nothing good would cover it up besides something blue, and I did not want a goddamn blue flower on me.
Anyway, to Yelp I went, in search of another shop I could give a shot. Â And so THS came up. Â I went in an hour before closing Easter Sunday (blasphemous) and first fell in love with the decor. Â So I pay attention to shit like that okay? Getting tattooed in a blinding white booth just feels kind of impersonal to me, and if someones gonna be jabbing something permanent in my skin like a tattoo, I expect things to get almost uncomfortably comfortable with them. I can't have silent, distant tattoo artists and asylum-like rooms. I cant. It makes me uneasy.
Walking in and looking around a little more, I also thought "Shit, this place looks too cool and shit for me, wtf am I doing here?" but I was greeted by Eric (Alvino) and didn't feel too awkward anymore. Luckily, he is *not* one of those douchebag tattoo artists who carry themselves like "I tattoo, which means I'm too cool for school and especially too cool for you. So, what the fuck are you doing here? but hey I dont mind taking your money as long as you take my dick attitude". Â Anyway, you get my point. Â Thank god I didn't get that from Eric because I would've split in a hot second if I encountered another tattoo artist like that.
(Although, while getting tattooed, I caught on quick to his straightforward and 'real' personality. Â I can see how some people may take offense to it or get sensitive, but just sitting there with him, getting tattooed for almost 4 hours, I'm 99% sure he's not trying to hurt anyone's feelings; but damn if you need to be called out on something, he'll probably be the one to do it. But I can appreciate that, reality checks are great and humbling; dont get butthurt, people. He's crazy about cats for cryin' out loud, he can't be that bad)
Anyway, I walked in with a general, to no idea of what I wanted. I just knew I wanted "flowers". To which he asked what kind, and I said "I dont know" to which he replied "Well what kind do you like?" and I said "All of them?" Â ANYWAY, it turned into some kind of weird pivotal moment for myself where I had to answer the simple question of "What do you like?". I'm sure I was a ridiculous customer, I went in knowing more about what I didn't want than what I did want. And I'm sure my indecision was annoying at some point, but he stuck it out and we ended up talking for about 45 minutes, trying to figure something out for me. He traced my forearm and said to text or email him ideas/pictures of what I would like. Emphasis on what I LIKE, because he didn't want to just put anything on me, and then I'd end up hating it later.
So Google showed me how beautiful roses looked when tattooed, so I emailed him a couple of rose pictures and some rose tattoos. I sent in some photorealism shit, only to realize days later that I didn't really want photorealism anymore, just some mix of traditional and realism. Â When I went into the shop yesterday, he showed me his sketches and was like "So, photorealism...?" and thank god he was on the same track that I was. His sketches were perfect, his ideas were great, and off we went.
I warned him that when I got the stupid blue dot done, it bled a lot. He just told me the girl who did that tattoo didn't know what she was doing. I thought "Oh god, he doesn't get it; That stupid dot bled everywhere. It's gonna happen again, I know it, how embarrassing"
Turns out, as he said, he has angelic hands, because by the time we finished and I got home to wash it up, there were, at most, 5 pinhead sized dots of blood, like nothing had ever happened. So, following Eric's blood theory, he knows what he's doing, because I didn't bleed for shit. And he knows that he knows what he's doing, and there is nothing better than getting a tattoo done by someone who can actually be confident with their work, and not be cocky.
Really, I could keep typing and make a novel over how much I'm so happy with Eric and the work he did, but I know most people probably stopped reading my review 2 paragraphs in -_-. Â AND PS WHAT? He actually texted me the next day to make sure my tattoo was doing okay? I have never had a tattoo artist care that much; I was teary eyed.
But to conclude this:
My rose is fucking fabulous, and everyone's on my nuts over who did it. Â So, just know Eric, I'm sending them your way. Just give their broke asses some time.
I have nothing but positive things to say about this place! I was visiting my friend in LA and had thought about getting a tattoo while there. I searched around and found Honorable Society. I was thrilled when I called and talked to Arlene, who said that she was free and to come by. I had originally wanted a simple anchor tattoo, but after looking at Arlene's artwork, I knew that I would be a fool to go with my original idea. Together, we pieced together an anchor and sparrow for the perfect tattoo. Arlene was very knowledgeable and I put my faith in her completely. She is a total perfectionist, from placement to execution...what more could you want? The other artists were super friendly and the tattooing flew by. The shop is also really cool and has a lot of artwork up to focus on when the pain got a little rough. Arlene is absolutely wonderful and I could not be happier with my tattoo! Put yourself in her artist hands and trust...you won't regret it!
Review Source:After a bad experience attempting to get a tattoo from Ruthless at L.A. Ink (don't even get me started ) I began looking online for someone to do a portrait tattoo. Â I ended up on Honorable Society's website and liked what I saw. Â After reading Marco's bio and looking at his tattoo work, I took the leap and went with him. Â OMG I am so glad I did! Â He was extremely courteous and kind and professional. Â He is a man of few words, most of his time is spent concentrating intensely. Â And the result? Â A fabulous portrait of my late mom that I can carry with me forever. Â Thank you Marco!!
Review Source:This place is awesome. Super down to earth environment, and a very reasonable price system. We walked in on a Monday with no appointment, and I was speaking to an artist instantly. I was very fortunate to have mine done by Jorell. He is an amazing artist!!!! He was also very cool with me and my sister, and the whole
time we never once felt uncomfortable. Bottom line, if you want quality work for a great price, come here. I am coming back very soon to get more work done!
The Honorable Society is awesome! Â I have been there twice and seen both Eric and Sean. Â Eric did a heart on my hip and Sean just did my most recent, an 80's-esque star on my upper left thigh. Â Both of these artists did an amazing job and, after only three days, I'm receiving multiple compliments on how clean the lines look on the zig-zagged interior design of the star. Â The price is completely reasonable (cash only) and the shop is super clean. Â The artists also make themselves completely accessible if you have questions or need touch-ups. Â I've been to multiple places for my tattoos, and this one tops the list!
Review Source:I got a piece here a few weeks ago by Arlene. She did an AMAZING JOB!!! I got a butterfly for a close friend who recently passed and sent her picture of what I wanted. When I met up with her we discussed my tattoo and she told me that for the size I wanted wasn't going to look when when I get older because it had a lot of detail and there were some other flaws in it too. So she took things that I really liked from that butterfly and designed something for me. Normally I don't really let people change my tattoo but Arlene is a very talented artist and she knows what she is doing when she tattooing, and that's what I think is the most important quality a tattoo artist can have because it doesn't matter if you can draw like Salvador Dali or Monet, you are painting a living and breathing canvas and that's probably the hardest thing to do. Also, I must say that it is my favorite tattoo. The colors she used are amazing. Not to sound vain or snobby or anything but when I see other butterflies on people all I can say is mine is waaaay better. And frankly, I was really nervous about the outcome was going to be because there are some people with terrible color and their tat looks like a shitty cartoon and mine looks so realistic. Arlene is a freaking ink master. Go to her and you will not be disappointed. Nor do I believe you'll be disappointed by any of the other artist their portfolios are amazing!!!!
Review Source:I hate needles. Â Petrified of needles. Â Needles are my enemy. Â But ever since I could remember, I've always wanted a tattoo. Â My friend and I had talked about getting one for a while and one day she called me up and told me she made an appointment. Â
The day came to get it and I was scared shitless, totally psyching myself out. Â I was meeting some friends up there (who just got tatted) and it was my turn. Â I walked in, see them all bandaged up, took one look at the chair and tools, and nearly bolted out the door. Â That was until my friends calmed me down and I met Jorell. Â The first thing he did was laugh a bit as to how worked up I was, and this immediately made me feel better. Â This was my first tat so I was a spitting out every question you could imagine. Â He was extremely patient with me, cracked jokes, and put up with my loud singing as my needle nemesis was dancing across my wrist (more like digging). Â
Long story short, my tat turned out perfect, no one was seriously hurt in the process, and Jorell is the amazing- kind, talented, patient, and just a friggen badass. Â He is the only person I will ever go to get inked- period.
After much research and deciding who would be the perfect fit for my first experience getting a tattoo, I decided to go with Eric A. over at Honorable. Not only because he is from New York, but because he has two cats! I know, I know......but he is a cat person, right there I give him extra points!
Anyway, my husband came with me and I met up with Eric and I can't say how glad I decided to go with him. Eric is a great person right from the top, he is honest and he knows what the hell he is doing. I trust him even more because he made some really great suggestions for what I was getting and he made it MY tattoo, not just a copy of the image I brought him. He was great for me since I am or was a virgin at tattooing. Very calming and through out the whole thing, we had great conversation. He was focus the whole time, but he was sociable and easy to like.
Many props to Eric for being so awesome and doing such a great job.
I am definitely coming back to him and to Honorable Society.
The Tattoo Parlour is very homey, comfortable and friendly. Glad to say my first experience was a great one!
My friend brought me here to get my first tattoo for my birthday this week. Needless to say, it's a pretty nerve-wracking, emotional experience. Everyone at this shop was so cool and so welcoming. It's a hardcore place, Â but they don't make you feel like little girl for not having your entire body covered in ink and holes, which I appreciated a lot. It felt significantly like they were welcoming me into a community .
As for my artist, Josh, he was awesome. He's talented, knowledgeable, experienced, Â personable, and he just lives tattoos... literally, he's running out of tattooable space on his body. It was so interesting hearing all about his 13 years experience in marking people with all different kinds of things. I really could not have asked for a better guy to take my ink virginity and I can't wait to go back and add to my body art.
Seriously, if you're curious about tattoos, go see Josh at the Honorable Society, he won't let you make a mistake, and he will make sure you have beautiful work done.
Just finished a piece on my side with Arlene and I couldn't be happier. Â Impeccable line work and the lightest handed tattoo artist I've met yet. She did beautiful work and I will definitely be back.
The shop is great, very laid back and relaxed and everyone there seems cool and good at what they do. Â Parking is a bitch, but I found that a block or two south of Orlando and SMB there is open street parking (save for street cleaning times).
Can't wait to go back.
This was not my first tattoo, nor was it my first time at Honorable Society visiting Jorell for his brilliance. It was however, my first time getting inked by him. I personally think (as I'm sure most do) that the experience you have WHILE getting your tattoo is just as important as the significance of the tattoo itself. This is why it takes a certain connection with the friends you bring to meet and/or match the personality of the artist that will be forever making a mark on your body. Â Jorell has time and time proved to be beyond worthy of creating a masterpiece, whether large or small, for your lifetime of enjoyment.
My friends and I are a little loud, obnoxious and completely different when it comes to pain tolerance. We had profanity flying around, songs being sung, dances being had, and all around nervous energy being manifested in whichever way possibly. Jorell, kept up, matched and created right with us. Every person that has sat in his chair can attest to his comforting demeanor and his professionalism and complete condolence in his work. I will forever be verbally promoting him and continuing any of my own personal ink marks. Go see for yourself biotches.
Oh, and the shop itself is pretty bad ass. Couches, Xbox, Netflix, artwork... likeminded rad people just coexisting in this crazy world of ours!
Before discovering The Honorable Society, I walked into a popular tattoo shop down the street that a friend recommended. I looked through some portfolios and while the work looked good, I just couldn't get over the bad vibes I got when I stopped in that day. Simply put, the artists I met were just too cool for school and way too pretentious. Some people don't care about attitude as long as the tattoo turns out good, but when you are willing to put in the time and money on something that is on you for life, clicking with the artist is important.
Fast forward a few days later, I happened to walk by THS and I went in to check it out. I met my eventual tattoo artist Monty and right off the bat, he was super nice and helpful. 4 sessions and a lot of blood, sweat, and tears later, we are finally finished with the piece on my left arm! Monty did such an amazing job and I'm very happy with how it turned out. All the artists at THS are really talented and nice. They also just expanded so the shop looks even better with all that space! Go check it out if you are interested in a tattoo or piercing!
This is the best tattoo parlor, one can ever go to. I live in NYC. I went to this shop, on a recommendation and it exceeded my expectations. My tattoo artist, Jorell, was amazing. He did a wonderful job creating my vision and made sure it was to my liking before he tattooed me. He also has a great sense of humor and personality, which is very important; especially when you're about to have your first-time tattoo cherry popped.
To feed into my new found addiction, I plan on getting some more ink, however, I plan on waiting for my next trip out West, so I can have it done by Jorell. I wouldn't have it any other way and I encourage others to consider inking with him!
I sure picked the best place to get my first tattoo. Josh Schneider created a sexy tribal lion design and inked my upper left arm brilliantly. He's professional, skilled, patient and a very cool guy. I'm thrilled with the results, and the reviews from my friends are great. The shop is cozy and classy. Getting tattooed didn't hurt like I was told by others; I wouldn't even call it pain. Â Highly recommend.
Review Source:Love the vibe in this place and was able to walk in without an appointment and get my tattoo for a reasonable price, though it's CASH ONLY.  Pony expertly took care of me and helped me simplify my design into something that worked as a tattoo. (FYI for newbies, you can't have lines too close together because over time the ink spreads) This one I put on my arm and could hardly feel the needle going in and out. I keep them small so it only takes about an hour.  I want to get a bigger one soon. This place is like a barber shop with tattoo stations where everyone is in the same room, but  to get a PA or a tat near your private parts they have a private room in back. I'm sure I'll check this place out again, but there are so many tattoo parlors in my neighborhood I have to try.  Tattoo crawl anyone?
Review Source:This is the greatest shop I have ever been to. The walls aren't covered in flashy run of the mill tattoo designs. Instead, they have filled the walls with "antiques" making the shop feel more like you're getting inked in some crazy awesome 1920's murder mystery library. The reason? The people that work there are real artist, not just tracers with a few techniques like some other shops I know of. Clearly they know what they're doing, just look at the photos on yelp.
Their minimum is $80, cash only. That seemed high coming from Austin where it's $60, but it was definitely worth the extra forty (I gave a $20 tip).
I worked with an artist named Arlene Darling. I have a clean line tattoo and I wanted to find a place that could provide that. Turns out, Arlene is more of a perfectionist than me. I seriously couldn't be happier. If you're in Hollywood and need a place to have some work done, hit up the Honorable Society Tattoo Parlour & Lounge. The next time I visit LA, I think I might have to come back for another one.
BEST Experience I have ever had getting a Tattoo.
I found this shop because I work at a coffee house down the street, and occasionally the employees from The Honorable Society would come and get coffee from my work. Let me just say, boy am I glad I started talking to Jorell. Before I even saw his portfolio or artwork, I started telling him I was interested in getting some work done, and just by talking to him I could tell he was a cool guy. He invited me over to the Honorable Society to check out his work and talk about what I wanted to do. Before I knew it, we were bouncing back ideas to one another and I saw the idea of my tattoo evolve into something far more creative then I could have ever imagined. And once he drew me a first rough draft, I could tell that I had found my artist. Jorell's artwork was insane! And so unique which is obviously really important when your deciding whether or not you want it on your body for the rest of your life. From there we went through maybe 2 more drafts and made little changes here or there, but I really didn't feel like I needed to change much of what Jorell had come up with. So after a couple meetings and a couple drawings we decided to get started.
From here on out, I can say nothing but good things about the Tattoo process. Jorell is very good and very efficient with his work. Everyone knows Tattoo's do not feel good, but Jorell did an awesome job making it as comfortable as possible by doing certain sections first and layering certain shades and colors at the right time. It's hard to explain, you would have to be sitting in his chair to know what I mean. I sat with him for over 20 hours while getting this amazing piece of art done on my arm. I could not be more happy with the way it turned out. You can see that Jorell has his own style in his work, including his shading, his coloring and his detail. I have never seen anything like it, and all my friends who have seen the new tattoo say the same thing. I get nothing but positive feedback from everyone I show it to, and the first questions they always ask me are "Where did you get that?" and "Who did your work?" I proudly respond with Jorell Eli of The Honorable Society in West Hollywood.
GO TO THIS SHOP AND ASK FOR JORELL!!! YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED!!!
Stopped in one day to inquire about getting my first tattoo and was greeted by the lovely Arlene Darling. Â She was awesome. Â She took the time to talk about design and placement. Â She then gave me her card and we went back and forth via email for about a week figuring out what I want before making an appointment.
She did an awesome job. Â Very relaxed environment. Â Perfect for a first timer.
I did my research before coming here and saw this place had all 5 star reviews! The parlor is this really cool vintage lounge and the wall are covered in cool artwork. Jorell was my artist he was so amazing! I have 6 other tats from different shops and he is my fav. I was really fussy about what I wanted and he really took the time to sit with me, listen, go over the design, make changes, redraw etc. He is a true perfectionist! and such a chill, friendly personality too! Which helped distract me from 2 and 1..2 hrs of pain! because we were just talking the whole time :)(I got a pretty big mermaid on the inside of my arm.)  I love my new tatt beyond words!! I would recommend Jorell to anyone and im definitely  coming back for more!
Review Source:So great. Â Good enough for me to come out of Yelp retirement to give them five stars.
Came in here to look around and inquire about getting an appointment with the well known Marco Cerretelli, whose work has blown me away for a couple years now. Â While in there I met the lovely and talented artist Arlene Darling, and we discussed a piece I wanted to get. Â Returned the following day and Arlene ending up executing such an awesome, amazing tattoo on my arm. Â She's so good and the entire experience was a pleasure. Â Also had the chance to get to know another artist there, Josh Schneider, and look through his very impressive book. Â
When you're sitting in a chair for 4 hours having needles gouged into your skin, you really want to like the people you are hanging out with. Â Honorable Society is a top tattoo shop. Â Welcoming atmosphere, gorgeously decorated, and the artists are all very talented and cool. Â Highly recommended.
I literally just came from here. Â Did some research and decided to pop in this afternoon - lucked out. Â Marco was there and although my ink was simple, it was also very small/probably required one of the tiniest needles & focus -- Marco was extremely down to earth and cool, finished up pretty quickly, and the lines are ultra-precise. Â I love my new ink!
I am 100% satisfied w/ my experience, would recommend the shop + Marco to anyone who asked, and also noticed they are not overpriced as some hollywood/weho spots are. Â Thank you!

What's up Marco!?
I have been stalking Marco since the first issue of Inked magazine. Â Volume #1 Issue #1, they have a section where they feature shops in particular cities and this issue was for LA. Â I went through every shops website and looked at every artists work and Marco's work just stood out.
Two? Three? Years later I finally came to see the Man, the Myth, the Legend. Â Check out his work it's sick! Â Marco is super nice and everyone at the shop is also real chill and friendly. Â Also for what he charges compared to other artist out here with the same price? Â I feel like he should be charging more. Â But hopefully since I already started there should be something kind of rent control aka ink control.
One suggestion for Marco. Â You should have a referral system. Â I get mad love for your work and it's not even done yet! Â I also have been passing your business cards like crazy. HAHA! See you in a few!
I've been meaning to write a review for The Honorable Society. Â In early July, I had my first tattoo from Arlene Darling. Â It's a portrait of my wife within a frame, and I had her tattoo it on my chest.
I grew up in LA, but now I'm out of town and so my initial contact with Arlene was through email. Â She was great. Â She was prompt, and we were able to discuss my ideas and the elements I wanted in the design, all through email. Â
Arlene is a great artist and she was able to pull together all the elements into something that really worked. Â She's got a great visual sense and created an awesome tattoo. Â I think it's a great tattoo and everyone who has seen it can't believe the detail she was able to incorporate into the tattoo. Great shadowing, clean lines; almost 3-D. Arlene was really cool and easy to get along with. Â She's also got some other terrific designs and artwork and I would definitely go back to her. Â If you want a portrait done, I would highly recommend her.
I also just finished an Asian Mask with black clouds (essentially the beginnings of a half-sleeve) (August 8, 2010). Â This time, Josh Schneider worked on me. Â Josh was great. Â I already had a small tattoo from him and so I was looking forward to having him work on the mask. Â Josh is just such a creative artist and tattooer. Â He knows what will look good as a tattoo and what will stand the test of time. Â He also has a great sense of color and visualization of what looks cool. Â His lines are clean, sharp, and he has great shading and color combinations. Â He's really friendly and easy to talk to as well. Â When I was getting my portrait done in early July, my wife waited in the shop for several hours, and one of her favorite people was Josh. Â He's a great guy, terrific tattooer, and artist. Â Don't forget to check out his other paintings that are hanging around the shop. Â You'll be amazed at his work as well.
Also, I can't say enough positives about this shop and all the people doing tattoos in the shop. Â It's just got a really great vibe, really relaxing, and the staff is great. Â It's not a huge shop, and so when you're in there, everyone makes you feel comfortable. Â
If you've never had a tattoo and are thinking of one, I'd recommend them highly. Â It's a really clean shop and the tattooers are really careful about how they treat their instruments and their needles. Â They open the needles from sealed bags, and they change their gloves all the time. Â Â If that's a concern for you, there's no need to worry at The Honorable Society. Â
They have great artwork and the artists have their portfolios out for you to review. Â The staff will come up and just work with you in a totally chill way to figure out what you like and what will work. Â They answer all your questions well. Â I had a chance to overhear them work with new customers and I could see they just put people at ease. Â
If you're looking for a place to get a tattoo in LA, go here. Â You'll want to keep coming back. Â I have some other ideas for tattoos and this is my go-to shop.
did you notice that this place has gotten 5-star all the way through??
yeah....that's why you should come here...
my artist was marco. um.... a-mazing!!!!
1. yes, it's a lounge... they have nice decor, nice furniture where you can just sit and chill...
2. nice, friendly, talented, down-to-earth artists who will make your experience here fun and comfortable.
3. oh. and  most importantly, what's better than a clean cozy tattoo parlour?!!
i don't even feel like i need to say much here. just look at all the ratings they've been getting here should tell you a lot ;)
Awesome place, super cool environment, great people, definitely a good experience. Â I don't know the name of the girl who did my tattoo but she was very cool. Â Jeremy was a cool guy also. Â I like the lounge environment of the place and felt very comfortable the whole time. Â
The work I did was pretty simple, just putting my great grandfather's Finnish name on my chest in cursive so I can't comment too much on how the truly intricate work is. Â But as for friendly people who genuinely care about doing good work and making you feel welcome, the place gets 5 stars. Â Good work guys, keep it up!
Jeremy Horton at the Honorable Society is such a great guy, and an amazing artist. Â He has been working on a shoulder/arm/back piece for me, and I really could not be more thrilled with the outcome. Â It is everything that I wanted, and more!
I've lived in LA for 3 years, and have spent all that time trying to find an artist that I really enjoyed having tattoo me, and Jeremy fits the bill perfectly. Â He makes the whole experience so comfortable and fun.
The whole atmosphere is the shop is great, and all the artists are very nice as well as talented. Â It really is an ideal shop.
came here after hearing about his rave reviews on yelp. they are all completely correct. Â not only did he do a great job and im totally 100 percent happy with the end product, Â but the atmosphere of the place was great.
ive been tattooed at different places and honestly i had never had a really comfortable experience before Marco. Â like other reviews have said, he makes the experience enjoyable and it feels like a very stress free, relaxed environment. Â he genuinely seems to care about his work and u can tell its his passion. Â there seems to be great camaraderie between he and the other artists there and that makes for a great experience for the customer. Â DEFINITELY will be coming back when i decide on my next tattoo =)
Marco Cerretelli does beautiful work. I found Marco while doing some research online and he did not disappoint.
The Honorable Society Tattoo Parlour & Lounge is one of those gems you find in Los Angeles that you want to tell everyone about, but hesitate to do so because you don't want it to get ruined.
This place is only for those seeking masterful tattoo work, a warm studio, and a friendly environment. My only con is that the word is getting out about the HSTP&L, and it is going to be difficult to book Marco and the other artist.
I've been going to Marco Cerretelli for the last 3 years. He came highly recommended by two friends and I honestly can't thank them enough for introducing me to him.
My friends, and myself included, have been tattooed by the top names within the tattoo community. That said, Marco's talent is truly a force to be reckoned with. Beyond being an incredibly professional guy, his education about art history is somewhat mind boggling.
I've spent countless hours in his shop; hanging out, getting tattooed, shooting the shit, and listening to what I think is probably the best iPod that was ever put on shuffle.
The Honorable Society Tattoo Parlour and Lounge is pure class. I highly recommend it.
Just found out that Arlene Darling will be tattooing here! Â Super excited about visiting her again for some more work.
She's so awesome, I never get tired of hearing, "Awesome tattoos man...Where'd you get 'em?" Â People have actually stopped me on the street to interrogate me about them. Hahahaha
They've got a facebook page too with photos of the parlor if you do a little searching.
Looks REALLY nice.  Can't wait to visit  -  :)
