Very clean, very professional and interesting people. The people who worked there were intelligent and know what they are doing. The business is clean. I brought my daughter there for several ear piercings. This is not a conservative Buckhead place but I bet you will get the best results regardless. Don't judge the people there. They are humans just like you...and really good at what they do. Having a medical background, I give them an A+ for good procedure. When it's busy you may have to wait. But be rest assured , each person seems to get excellent service. It appears that you may go in with an idea of what you want, and they don't automatically do it without thorough discussion, caution and discernment.

Wow, this review is long overdue...

I wish I could give Kolo a better rating, but I simply can't due to their staff.

I lived in Little 5 Points for over 3 years, and had a couple piercings done here.

The first one was tongue, back when I was 18. I remember the process being snappy and not as bad as I had thought.

The second one was a monroe done back when I was 24. I almost left before getting it done, because the guy at the counter was so rude and unfriendly. Worst customer service in Little 5, and that IS saying something people. I should've left and gone to my usual go-to piercing place (piercing experience), but for some reason I didn't. The guy acted like he couldn't be bothered with helping me pick out an appropriate piece of jewelry for my new piercing. Ugh. Why??

I've been back a couple times over the years, just to shop for plugs. And every time, there is a snarky guy behind the counter with a condescending attitude toward any customer who dares ask for help or *gasp* a question. I have to always ask for help instead of being asked if I need anything.

Do yourself a favor, and if you really want an overall pleasant, informative, and healthy experience, go to the piercing experience by candler park. I've never had a bad time there, even though they are pricier, its really worth it in the end.

This places goes down as a memory in my book. All my life I wanted to get my nose pierced. My grandmother has hers pierced and so does my mother. Finally at age of 22 I gathered the courage and drove down to this place.

I absolutely love little five points. If your not used to a crowded area and packed traffic. Avoid this place. You will be frustrated and nervous with the type of people walking around. The parking space is a issue. I never know if the parking is free of if I have to put my money in the slots. That's a con. Because they will ticket your ass.

When I stepped inside Kolo It was clean but its like you stepped into the dark side. Alot of strange art and metal music and men that look like they wanna stab you. But they are friendly as ever! They just have a weird way of showing it.

The prices of the studs and nose rings are high and were not explained very well. It was like I chose in a hurry. which was also  a con on my list. I don't want to feel like you are busy and I should hurry up and make up my mind. After 30 minutes. A man with glasses took me to the "BACK" it had curtains and he was very nice. He made sure I understood the after care and asked where he should pierce my nose by marking my nostril. I asked his input and he showed me that most people get it pierced on the left and only up to a certain area. I knew I could trust him because he pierces noses everyday. He pierced my nose with a needle and it was fast and painless! they do have a tip jar inside the back curtain area I suggest tipping a good 3-5 bucks. But thats just me.

My piercing healed really quickly and unlike my other friends I had zero infections. HIGHLYYYY recommended!

I was in Atlanta for the holidays and wanted to get my nose re-pierced so I looked up a few places and after reading the reviews decided to try Kolo. I absolutely loved it, The staff was very professional, clean, friendly and welcoming. Gigi did my piercing and made me feel very comfortable the entire time. I would definitely suggest this as a great place to get piercings or jewelry. :)

Just went in today for the first time -- all I went in for was a new nose screw, but it was a great overall experience. I picked the kind of stud I wanted then they lead me into the back and actually MEASURED the width of my nostril and used a pair of jewelry pliers to bend it right there so it fit exactly! obviously they're known better for their really top-notch selection of other body mod adornments, but I was still pleasantly surprised by their huge supply of 20g studs in different metals, as most places only have 18... totally recommend them.

tl;dr: I highly recommend this place because I had one of the best experiences of my life. Kolo is clean, fairly- priced, and fosters a friendly, laid-back, but still professional environment.

Alright, I do not know where to even begin. I finally convinced myself to get my tragus pierced this weekend after wanting it for years. I was feeling very confident, but of course as it became more real I got more nervous. Anyway, I called in to Kolo just to make sure they don't need an appointment and their policy on piercing minors. I am almost 18, not quiet yet, so I had my mother accompany me. The guy on the phone was very nice and helpful, he answered all of my questions. I was sure to have everything I needed.

So, I got there and they made very sure that I was old enough to get my tragus done and that my mother was actually my mother. They showed me their selections and gave me an accurate waiting time. The waiting room is pretty cozy. My piercer's name was called and Chuck took me back to the very clean room to get it over with! I was nervous but his confidence and sweet personality made me feel at ease. He was sure to explain everything he was doing but still had a fun side. He put the needle in and I didn't feel any pain! (Just slight discomfort, because, you know, I had a needle stuck through my ear!) He made sure to tell me the proper after-care and answered my questions.

Anyway, I'm not here to tell you my life story... I just wanted to say this place is the best. The people who work there are super nice and helpful, Chuck was fantastic, and the place was clean, professional, and very organized. I couldn't be happier with my experience. Also, another tattoo/body piercing place recommended it to me.

    Seriously, it's THAT good.

(I'm reposting this from my Google review, BTW!)

i love the jewelery selection, and most of the employees.  after spending the amount of time here i have lately getting a new piece of facial jewelery adjusted, i can see why the folks who work the front are the way they are. you would not BELIEVE the sheer volume of stupid people asking stupid questions that walk into this business on any given day.  this place is clean, well maintained and the stuff they sell is quality.  not some cheap ass bullshit ghetto stab-n-go infection zone.  but the sort of people who want ghetto prices do come in, bitch, and ask stupid questions all day-that would get to me too.
if you get additude thrown your way, you might have come in with one in the first place.  just sayin'.  be nice, you have no idea how many annoying, rude people have walked through that door before you.

As much as I love Gigi, I noticed on my last visit that the only reason I continue doing business here is because of her.
But the ppl behind the counter can be quite a douche. They have a sucky selection of plugs. And I always have to wait a minimum of 30 minutes if I require any re-sizing.

I got my nose piercing here when I was just 19 years old ^~^ This place is one of my fondest memories of ever visiting Atlanta. Great service with an awesome chica who put me at ease. And the jewelry is high quality. I got a turquoise stone for my starter piece, and I never bought another one to replace it. It was my favorite.

I would visit the one up in Boston to get my new piercings, but I'd rather trek back to this location. That's how much I loved my experience.

I have a great many holes in my head, so it's great to live within walking distance of a piercing shop.

My visits have thus far been limited to getting things taken out, putting back in, or buying replacement parts for my existing jewelry. Each time, the staff has been friendly, helpful, and efficient.

I was taught clean and sterile technique in actual school and actually use these in real life. Bearing that in mind, the Kolo staff has used good clean technique on me every time I've gone in for a jewelry manipulation. Bonus technique points for the shopwide use of non-latex gloves.

While I'm not currently looking to get metal shoved through my ear again for cosmetic purposes, I'll be coming to Kolo next time I do.

This one time, around Christmas when I was 18, I decided to go shopping. I went to the mall and bought boots, dresses and a pink sweater that was the cutest most flattering fit ever. It came down right below my navel and was just the most darling sweater ever. Well, driving back from my sweater buying high a thought occurred to me- Why don't I finally get my navel pierced?!

So, that's what I did. I drove my euphoric self to Kolo and bounced on in. I was greeted by a Rastafarian dude with 40 or so pounds of dreads and a lady wearing an equally eclectic outfit. I perused around at the incredible selection of awesomeness. These guys have it all!

They were incredibly nice after scanning my I.D. multiple times( I've always looked many years younger than my actual age. A fact that I have come to love.) I picked out a silver ring with a sparkly pink stud that matched the sweater I had just purchased, perfectly.

I was taken to the back room and started to get a bit nervous. I asked her if it hurt and she ensured me that it did not. The place was incredibly clean and my nerves started to fade away. She told me she would go on three. Turns out she went on two and I'm thankful for it. It felt like a pinch and wasn't painful in the least.

She followed this up with instructions on keeping this guy clean and free from infection. I couldn't have been happier with the whole experience. To this day, I remember the great customer service, en though my piercing has since been retired, the customer satisfaction that I gained lives on.

Kolo def made me feel like I was in the McDonalds of piercing shops. The dude at the front was mad rude and just kept asking "what are you getting done, what are you getting done?" and my poor friend was a nervous wreck by his attitude. I'm gonna need you to not act like everyone is eager to get a needle shoved thru their body and be patient with newbies, please!

I had a "consultation" with the piercer and she tells me to research my piercing, WTH? I don't need to research anything, I simply had a ? about placement. She told me she has work to do and can't talk to me. Work to do? Isn't talking to a client a part of your job? Or are you a stick and go kinda gal? If she were a man I'd refer to her as a deadbeat dad--stick and go.

Hell no we didn't give them not even 5 cents of our money, even if it was cheaper than other shops. You were rude, insulting, and didn't even care enough to talk to your customers. I'll pay more and go elsewhere where they care about who they're sticking. Kolo is a no-go for me!

Kolo's the only place I will go for any future piercings. I got my nose stud here and they also replaced it with a screw after a couple months. The sterilization and cleanliness is the best I've seen and I've never had any piercing/tattoo artist be more meticulous. They also don't try and over sell you or make you get all the extra stuff behind the counter. They'll give you recommendations of course, but they're honest about what you NEED vs. what's available.
But with all this attention to detail things can move pretty slow. There's usually never more than two people in the store and it can get be pretty busy in the evening and on weekends. Try coming an hour after they open if you can make it during the day. I say an hour after they open because I've noticed they don't always open right on time.

The lady piercer that switched out my relatively fresh tragus piece for one that was less cumbersome was really helpful in instructing me on how to clean it and care for it so that it'd get less swollen. The jewelry selection here is very very decent as far as these places go although I think they're a little bit pricey.

If I needed another piercing I'd probably come back here.

Weird story about finding Kolo; in 2006 I was in Atlanta with a friend on a mini-vacation and we were walking to a body worlds exhibit after an alarming MARTA ride where a man wanted to exchange stories with Jen about her tattoos.  Hers were a pointillism leg-sleeve (do you say sleeve if it's on a leg?  whatever...) of Nightmare Before Christmas  and he got his in prison in an exchange for a pack or ramen noodles.  We ended up waiting for a train home with these kids who had awesome plugs and told us they bought them at Kolo and very loose directions about how to get there.  One was also born in the same hospital as Jen in Oakville, Ontario (random).

Anyways... we took a morning off from our tourist adventures and made our way down (or up, or across... I have no idea) to little five points to check out Kolo, and I was glad we did.

    The good:
    - amazing selection of jewelery
    - They coloured my tunnels on site
    - They were really friendly with us and happy to make suggestions and otherwise help out
    - highest quality inventory

    The bad:
    - You can either walk from the MARTA stop and it's through a field and kind of confusing, or take a bus.  At least that was how it was 4 years ago.

    FastForward to 2010:
There is a rule in my softball league that you can't wear any jewelery.  I had forgotten about this and showed up wearing earrings... When I put them in my coat pocket I forgot about them, and by the time I got home I only had one left.  Stupid story about me being a stupid person, I know, but I loved those tunnels and when I tried to find replacements in Toronto there wasn't anything of similar quality.  I emailed Kolo and included pictures of the lone remaining piece and they said they still stocked that exact same earring and sent me a link to order replacements.  They arrived today and they are exactly the same as the one I lost; I couldn't be happier that I was able to replace them.

    The good:
    - Adam was super efficient and understanding over email of my issue - we exchanged a few emails to confirm he had the exact same earrings in stock
    - What I ordered was exactly what they sent
    - Very high quality jewelery
    - Everything was individually packaged in separate, heat sealed plastic

Not only would I shop here again, I probably wouldn't shop anywhere else for earrings in bigger sizes.

I've stopped into Kolo several times to look at jewelry and considered getting a piercing there at one time.

I decided quickly about having a piercing done there.  It appears that they only do the absolute minimum to make the place look "clean".  It's far from it, the floors are dirty and the showcases are covered in fingerprints.  If the shop doesn't look clean what would make you think their piercing equipment is clean.

I have heard it's a great place to pickup jewelery but at the same time it's nearly impossible to get answers about products from the staff.  It's as if you inconvenience them every time you speak to them.  If you are looking for jewelry only just order it from their website.

I haven't had much luck here when it comes to friendly staff. The selection is what saves this place from having one star, and I enjoy coming in to see these fabulous pieces of eye candy in person. Yet the moment you open your mouth to ask about a pair of plugs, you're treated as if you came in at the wrong time. Except it happens every time, so I'm not sure what time is "right."

I was also a little put off by an overheard conversation with a customer who was considering getting her ears pierced for the first time. After talking to the piercer, the girl started asking about stretching and if she could do it with her small lobes. The piercer didn't even give good advice and instead seemed more concerned with shoving the girl into the chair to make the cash. Scolding your customer for asking an important question is not the way to go, especially with something as delicate as piercing.

It's disappointing because I'd heard good things so that's why I went the first time. The only draw for me now is occasionally looking at what's out there before going out the door. Sorry, but I don't think it's right to treat potential customers as if they are the bane of your existence.

I went in to get jewelry for a special day, and they let me take my time while not completely ignoring me.  So my second try was way better then my first...and like the first time the quality of product, the cleanliness of the shop and the demeanor of the staff was stellar.

Almost every time I stop by Little 5 Points I end up in Kolos buying new jewelry. The shop is amazingly clean, staff incredibly friendly and knowledgeable, all in all I know of no better place.

I always point people who ask me about my industrial and nostril piercings to Kolos. Gigi pierced both, and the experiences were awesome. Never felt pain with either. She was very personable and was good at keeping the atmosphere light.

I've been to Kolo twice. Both times were less than satisfactory...

The staff has been friendly and attentive for the most part. The problem is, both times I received VERY bad advice as far as jewelry selection for my in-process lobe stretching. I was sold a circular glass taper the first time, which was expensive, not meant for a newbie to stretch his own lobes with, and ultimately ended up breaking just from being slept on. The second time, silicone tunnels were recommended for upsizing my holes, which most experts would agree is a terrible idea. And both times, I was discouraged from buying something THEY had to put in. It was like they really didn't want to have to be bothered with doing any work aside from selling jewelry and posturing like they were experts. As far as the pricing goes....do your homework. You're not always getting what you pay for.

    So, here's the thing...........

I'm a bit of a body piecing snob, but I feel like once you educate someone about what kind of procedures and standards are acceptable, there is no reason to ever visit a dirty, sketch-tastic shop ever again. I had purchased jewelry on-line from Kolo before moving to Atlanta, and was AMAZED to see the selection they boast in real life. When it comes to my stretched lobes I'm fairly particular, and this shop has the best of the best, Gorilla Glass, Anatometal, Industrial Strength, and Tawapa just to name a few.

As far as actual piercing goes I cant vouch, however the shop is APP certified, and that means you absolutely can expect the most clean, safe, modern prodecures possible. The shop is super clean, the staff very friendly, and totally helpful. Sometimes I get irked by the attitude of talented modification practitioners, however there isn't an ounce of attitude in the entire shop. If I end up getting pierced while staying here in the ATL I will absolutely have to check out Kolo.

Also, I had the Kolo staff order me some custom ends for my nape piercing, they arrived super quick, and called me right away to pick them up. I haven't been able to hit the shop just yet as my schedule has been totally crazy but I cant wait to get in this weekend to see them. Awesome customer service.

My piercing experience here a few years back was excellent. Clean, friendly, fast and no problems later on! As far as cleanlieness and quality Kolo is one of the best.

However, the other day I went with a friend who needed a replacement nose peice (how she manages to lose them all the time I don't know). We went to Kolo which is our fav spot. They were not too busy, a few customers some just buying new jewels and some getting a new hole. My friend made her choice quickly but wanted to have it put in (in hopes that it wouldn't fall out this time). We waited, and waited and waited. The store emptied and still we waited. Why? Not sure. All they had to do was put it in, a pretty quick and easy proceedure, especially in a hole that has been around for many years.

Perhapse they were understaffed, I didn't see too many bodies behind the counter. Either way that was one hell of a wait. I will still get all my piercings here as I enjoy the selection and quality of the work.

I got pierced at Kolo many years ago and am still happy about it. I go back there to get new jewelry and always take friends there if they are even thinking about piercing.  Before deciding on Kolo, I did check out other places and the Kolo staff was the best - they explained everything from start to finish and made helpful suggestions on jewelry and aftercare.  They've proven to be just as helpful over the years.  They are solid: knowledgeable staff, excellent customer service, superior results.

I have had all of my piercings done here! [insert imagination here]
This team of professional body modification experts know exactly what they are doing.

Each of my piercings have been pretty spontaneous decisions. With no prior thought or knowledge of what to expect from my piercing experiences, I confidently walk into Kolo each time without any anxiety.

The Kolo piercing team has always been very helpful in preparing me for the actual piercing itself. They let you know what they are doing each step of the way starting at the sterilization phase and ending with instructions on healing.

With each painless piercing, I have always been able to recommend Kolo to friends considering a new piercing, I even bought a piercing pal with me once.

The jewelry collection tempts me to continually modify my body just so I can wear the cool jewelry. There's a variety of bone, wood, silver, gold, jade, and any thing else you can imagine in every gauge that your body can stretch to.

If you are looking for a team you can trust with putting holes in your body, head to Kolo!

Just went there to get my nose pierced today.  They have a great selection of studs, hoops, bone, wooden, all kinds of jewelry.
They also have titanium which is good for those with nickel allergies.

The woman who pierced me was very kind and patient, I had gotten a little nervous beforehand.

    Highly recommended.
