All and all my nails look o.k. They however took a LOT of skin off my toes. I'm assuming she pulled out an ingrown toenail but didn't bother to tell me. The bottoms of my feet are still rough and the massage was way too hard. One of my toes was cut into as well. The salon was tiny and NOT CLEAN. Booths and pedi chairs are placed so you have to look at the person directly in front of you. The floors are clean but the walls were dusty. Water stains on the ceiling and a random selection of beauty products covered in acrylic dust. Sure they were all nice and funny but it just wasn't worth it. Stella making beauty, I'm so sorry I cheated on you but I just couldn't make it to Burbank tonight.
Review Source:I came in for a manicure. The place was tiny but clean. Their tools were sanitized. They had a great selection of OPI colors and were pretty busy for a Thursday afternoon. I picked my super cool blue color and waited..
Soon enough one of the girls motioned for me to come over and started working on my nails. She was sweet..cut me by accident..but still sweet. My manicure came out nice and I was happy. I'll go back if I am ever in the area and need a mani/pedi/.
Mani - $12
Mani/Pedi- $30
Just got back from here and immediately had to YELP!
I had called to make an appointment about a week in advance and was told that a gel manicure would cost $25. This was the same price as many other salons but I had chosen this one because it was so local.
When I arrived, there was no receptionist. I sat down as no one greeted me until a nail tech said "Who are you here to see?" I told them no one in particular but that I had an appointment that day. They did not seem very organized or that they even remembered my appointment, but luckily there were many manicurists sitting around so they got to me right away. I immediately asked to make sure that the gel manicure was $25. Someone immediately said "No. $27." I said, "I spoke to someone on the phone just last week and it was $25, not $27." Instead of having me pay $25 like I was told, she insisted on the $27 and said that they changed their price of the gel manicures as of March 1st. How can they run a business like this? I called BEFORE March 1st! I was shocked.
The woman doing my nails was not very friendly, did not ask me any questions and worst of all, trimmed my cuticles for twenty minutes and ended up trimming them so much that three of my nails bled. It stung terribly! Luckily, this lady ended up moving on to another customer.
Another girl stepped in to start my gel polish and definitely noticed the bleeding. She wiped my nails on the towel and did not mention the blood once. The reason I'm giving this two stars instead of one is because this lady was a bit more friendly and actually did a good job on the actual polish part.
While I was getting my nails done, I watched as a few staff members had nothing to do. They were eating while sitting on the pedicure massage chair and on the computer. None of the woman I saw had their nails manicured-shouldn't that be a requirement to have freshly groomed nails while working at a nail salon? That's even a requirement at a retail store in the mall! It was just not a very professional environment.
All in all, I will not be coming back to the L Salon. It is unfortunate too because it is so convenient based on where I live.
I am soooo disappointed L Salon! Â This used to be my favorite nail salon.
I normally love getting my nails done here. Â It's right by my house, most of the girls are friendly, and no matter who you go to, they always take their time to do a good job. Â All for a reasonable price.
I had a VERY bad experience there though last week that I feel is absolutely unforgivable. Â There was some girl chatter going on while I was getting my nails done. Â Admittedly, I was a part of the conversation that started out as common funny girl talk and turned into an all out assault on me (so to speak).
The conversation was about how babies of mixed races come out so cute. Â Once I mentioned that I was Persian, I was attacked. Â One of the other girls/patrons began to lay into me about how horrible Persian people are. Â Now, at this point I can't hold anything against the nail salon. Â However, in the midst of this rant, the owner of the nail salon inserted her opinion of Persians, quipping "Persians are the biggest crooks. Â Don't ever do business with Persians." Â When I mentioned I was Jewish too, I was informed by the salon owner and the abusive patron that Persian Jews are "the worst". Â This assault lasted almost 10 minutes...even after I reminded everyone that I am a Persian Jew. Â Who does that?!!! Don't we live in America...2011????
Now, I know that everyone has their racist/stereotypical views. Â I'm fully aware of how most people view Persian Jews in LA. Â Shoot, I have my own opinions about Persian Jews. But, if I walk into your establishment, the last thing I want is to be grouped into some sort of stereotype, let alone feel like I have to defend an entire group of people who's race I happened to have been born into. Â Keep that shit to yourself, especially if you want my business.
So, since Pam feels that ALL Persian Jews are crooks in business, then she shouldn't take mine. Â I'm SO sorry that I will not be going back.
I used to love it here. After today I won't be back. The guy doing my pink and white fill was so rude. He kept telling me I was tense and to relax.....hard to do when he's burned me more than once with the electric nail sander thing. Then when I told him I'm not big on being touched he physically moved me in the chair. If I want to be berated while I get my nails done I'll come back. Sucks cuz the women are so great. Get over yourself jerk.....the customer is always right!!!!!
Review Source:I was looking for a new inexpensive place to get my eyebrows done. Yes, nail salons are notorious for terrible waxing. But I figured it's a new year, big risks for big rewards. Anyone who thinks eyebrow waxing isn't a big risk...well...ha.
Anywho, glad I took the risk on this strip mall nail salon. A young girl, Diamond, is a true gem. She kept my brows looking natural, only better! So excited to have found a great place to keep my eyebrows shaped and maintained for a price that cannot be beat.
Not the most beautiful place, and I probably won't ever end up getting my nails done...but for eyebrows this is my new spot!
I saw all these great reviews on yelp for L Salon, so I gave it a try with my sister and my dad's girlfriend. This place didn't live up to my standards. When we walked in the door, it was kind of crowded, and immediately a lady told us to go pick our colors. I picked a blue for my fingers and black for my toes. I sat next to my sister in the back of the salon, and I don't think the guy who was doing my toes understood me.
Finally, I became relaxed and it was becoming enjoyable. I had three people working on me when I was there, all switching off. But when the lady did my fingers, I felt she was so rushed that the nail polish was a tiny bit streaky and bumpy. It looks fine if you don't really look at it too closely. I understand you could be busy, but everyone deserves the same amount of care. After she was done, she rushed off to help another lady. My sister and I looked at each other, and we didn't have any idea when we should put our shoes on or if we should wait where we were. Everyone was really sweet though, and they made small talk with us. Overall, I would go back to this place if I had to, but not if I had the choice to.
I enjoy getting my nails done every other week. It's hard to find a salon that you can feel comfortable in, but I think this is the place. I can't handle snobby spa salons and I'm definitely too scared of shady unhygienic places just to get a good deal. I feel like this is a happy medium.
I've passed by this place several times on my way to Trader Joe's and although it's in a tiny strip mall the salon is a good size. The decor is fine, relaxing and it doesn't smell all chemically. There's a good selection of OPI colors which is nice because then you know your nails are going to at least look nice for a while. The prices are okay. $28 for a mani and pedi, which in the valley is a good deal for a nice clean nail salon.
I will be back. : )
I rarely get my nails done. Seriously. Not only do I feel stupid about going and paying someone else to do a job that I could easily do on my own (and really, there are so few things I can actually do independently!), but I work with small children in a physical sort of job. ...And they eat pretty nails for lunch. Or they just ruin them. Cause eating them would be toxic. And gross.
Anywho, it was thanks to Yelp that I decided to take a chance at L Salon, after months upon months of either doing my toes myself (which usually ends in bloody cuticles and a backache), or just leaving them ugly and "natural." When I walked in to 'L,' the chairs were full so I asked "excuse me, how long is the wait for a pedicure?" "YOU - GO PICK A COLOR!" the lady at the far end of the salon replied, and feeling slightly intimidated, I shut up and quickly obliged.
The color choice left something to be desired, so I picked what I felt was an acceptable shade of plumy wine. Note to self: bring your own polish in the future. As I sat down in the small waiting area with the latest issue of Glamour, the same lady who barked at me to pick a color spoke up again. "YOU!!" she said, and pointed in a far-off direction. The woman next to me got up and obediently walked over to her, so I assumed she had not been talking to "you" as in "me." Back to Glamour. "YOU!!!!" she shrilled again, Â and suddenly everyone looked at me expectantly, seeming to wonder why I hadn't hopped to. I got up abruptly, and politely followed her scarecrow finger to where a wonderfully sweet, middle-aged woman was waiting for me in the back of the salon.
Though I never caught my nail lady's name, she was kind, skilled, and didn't ONCE try to upsell me. Her service alone was worth the $19 ($25 plus tip) I shelled out. ...I *will* say, though, that the overall cleanlines/upkeep of the place left something to be desired. The clippers came from an unorganized Kaboodle bin, the pumice sponge wasn't new, the massage chair vinyl was tearing in a couple places, and the foot spa was slightly broken and spouted like a fountain. (Literally. My nail tech even quipped "Wow, it's like a fountain!")
Will I be back? Probably not. Though the price was great, there are just too many places in the Sherman Oaks/Studio City/Encino area that are reasonably priced and aren't quite so rough around the edges.
I had to try out a new salon, being kinda sick of my other spots. I needed a new set, and I found this place on yelp. It's quieter than my expensive salon, but just as conveniently located.
The girl who did my nails was really sweet, and did a great job. All things said and done, I walked out with a new set and a polish change for $37! I will definitely be back.
Ok i moved to the valley recently, and hopped around looking for a nail salon!! These girls are the bomb. they make you feel so comfy and take their time to give you the very best exerience!! Ask for Jenny she's da bomb w/nail art and Kim hooks your wax up divinely!! Def recommend them!!
