I'm so sad. I took my 4 month old to get her ears pierced and I regret it. Mainly because one ear has the earring in too high & it's not symmetrical to the other ear. I have been going back & forth about taking it out & letting it heal. My gut tells me yes, but I hate that I put my daughter through that for nothing! Also with the thought of putting her through that again! I am very disappointed they did it incorrectly the 1st time.
***My daughter is now 13 months old. The above paragraph was actually written when my daughter was 4 months and I forgot to post it and it saved for me.
So, I ended up letting my daughter's pierced ear hole grow back when she was about 8-9 months. I must also mention how unprofessional the lady who does the piercings is. She pierced one of my daughter's ears, then a customer came in, and she actually stepped away for about 5 minutes to help the other customer and left my baby crying, instead of just getting it over with. I'm also convinced this is why her piercings are uneven because everything got so flustered and got rushed and frantic from that point. I hear of other ear piercing places that will have 2 people pierce both baby's ears at the same to avoid making this a lengthy process. Between that and encouraging me to pierce them so high to begin with, I highly do not recommend any mom take their child here.
You can just tell when you walk in the door, despite the upscale location near Preston and Northwest highway, that it's a very old establishment and the business and its owners do not reflect experience and class you would expect, despite how long its been in business.
I ended up taking my daughter, again, at 13 months to Claire's. Yes, Claire's. They used a gun, not a needle, and despite how much a needle is recommended, it was actually a much quicker and more accurate process. It was so quick that my daughter didn't even know they did it. Thankfully we only had to do one ear, but I wish I just went to Claire's in the first place. It gets a bad rap, and it shouldn't. And it cost a lot less too.
I needed to pierce my newborns ears and since her pediatrician did not offer the service, I wanted to take her to a well known place. Â I decided on La Lobe due tot he reviews and its upscale location. Well, I would have been better off going to the mall. Â My husband and I were treated horribly. They tried to push us into buying the earings they sell buy asking we're real gold (and if that was a real diamond) and telling us both pairs of earring we brought with us were no good. Â After some prodding from my husband, they accepted the second pair we showed them, but told me my daughter would outgrow them quickly because "your earlobe gets thicker as you grow up." I have never heard of someone "outgrowing" earrings. Â
When it came time to do the piercing, the person doing the piercing wanted to do the piercing high up on the earlobe and close to her face,staing that your ear will drop as you get olde. I agree with this, but I felt her ear would not drop that much. When I asked the lady to lower the whole, she looked at my infant daughter and said "when your ears are all messed up, and you need to get them re-pierced, you can blame your mommy."
I have to say, I was offended by my whole entire interaction. Â They were very rude in general and I hate to pull the card, but I really felt they treated us bad because of our nationality. Â People of other races came in while we were there, and they were treated very differently.
At the suggestion of my pediatrician, I took my 9 week old baby daughter here to get her ears pierced. My mom had my ears pierced when I was a baby, and I wanted to carry on the tradition.
Everything about this experience was great, from scheduling the appointment to checkout (if you plan to come here on a Saturday, definitely schedule an appointment). We were given very specific directions to get there, which was helpful because La Lobe is tucked away inside a building on Kate St. under an unmarked green awning and would have been tough to find.
I was nervous about the actual piercing, but Nancy gave thorough directions about how to care for my baby's ears after the fact and sent us home with written instructions. She has clearly pierced infant ears for years, and used a sterile needle to very quickly make the holes. My baby screamed once per prick and that was it! I'd expected her to be a lot more upset.
For nursing mothers, they even have a private room you can take your baby to when the piercing is done to help comfort her, which I thought was a very nice extra and a clear sign that this place specializes in baby piercings.
For the piercing, 14K white gold studs, a bottle of after-care solution, and a 4-week follow up appointment, it cost just shy of $100. It was well worth the money, and my baby already forgot it happened two hours after the fact. Plus she'll never again be mistaken for a boy. Thanks La Lobe!
Well I haven't been to La Lobe in almost 40 years. I was looking for somewhere to take my 2 year old niece to get hers pierced and my mother told me to take her to La Lobe...the same place she took me when I was 2. Â I thought they would have been closed since its been such a long time. But they are still around. Im excited to take my niece to get her ears pierced at the same place her auntie and grandmother went to 40 years ago! Â I have had other a couple more piercings done to my ear and only the La Lobe piercing is still just fine. Im confidant my niece will have the same results and I cant wait to pick out her new earrings.

the frostbite blistering has the skin on my ear sloughing off leaving it raw. Â it looks awful, and will have to be redone elsewhere after it heals. Â
do not get pierced here. Â if you insist on going here, demand that she put on some gloves (or at least wash her hands) and that she not use any of that "freeze spray". Â this place is just as bad as those mall places, except i have a feeling that in the mall, they at least use gloves.
go to a tattoo/piercing place -- i guarantee they know how to pierce without maiming! Â (or giving frostbite)
My wife tells me that our daughter (almost 1yr old) needs to have her ears pierced. Â Cool, let's bring her to Claire's, get her under that piercing gun, and we're good to go. Â Well, not really. Â Apparently there's a better way to do piercings and La Lobe is one of these places that does so. Ok, I'm not piercing expert, so let's do this.
We're given directions on how to get there. Â "Look for the green awning because we can't advertise piercings on the window." Â Huh? Â I'm thinking that we're going to the ghetto, but I know that this place is near Preston Hollow so it can't be shady.
As we arrive, they were piercing the ears of a 3month old girl. Â What, no piercing gun? Â Just a quick stab of the needle, quickly insert the earring, and voila.. done! Â Looks like they know what they're doing, and looks like they've been doing this for a long while. Â Needless to say, I'm now at ease. Â My daughter was next. Â She got a little nervous but the owner's grandkids were there, and they did an excellent job distracting our little one. Â I swear she took longer to explain how to care for the ears after the piercing than it took to actually get the earrings in.
It's been a week and my daughter's ears look great! Â She doesn't seem to know she has earrings on. Â We've been following the cleaning guidelines they gave us, and it's been working. Â We're supposed to go back 4 weeks after so they can ensure everything is ok. Â Something tells me that this is not a standard practice of the run of the mill piercing station.
They pierce ears for all ages, as there was a teenager that went after my daughter. Â I would definitely recommend this place.
I took my (almost) 8 year old daughter to get her ears pierced here for an early birthday present. Â It is the same salon I had my ears pierced at in 1980 and my mom had hers pierced in 1972.
Although a little pricey (piercing was $28 and the earrings my daughter selected were $76), I am convinced they're the best.
The lady who helped us was gracious and thorough. Â She was kind and calming to my nervous daughter and paid great attention to making sure the ears were measure properly and marked to alignment before she pierced. Â She explained everything beforehand so my daughter knew what to expect.
They do not use a piercing gun at La Lobe, but rather numb the ears with a spray before using a needle (which is immediately disposed of in the same fashion as needles used at a doctors office). Â My daughter thought the numbing spray was "super cold" and stung slightly, but the piercing itself was painless.
After the piercing was complete, we were given a lesson in how to care for the healing ear and proper earring selection. Â Having had my ears pierced for 30+ years, the "how to select proper earrings once your ears are healed" portion of the lesson seemed a little over-cautious, but I suppose it falls into the category of better safe than sorry. Â We were also given a typed sheet repeating what was taught to us during the "lesson." Â La Lobe requests that you come in for a follow up 4 weeks after the piercing and gives you a card with their number & follow up date and asks that you call for an appointment.
Most of their piercings are done by appointment, but will accept walk-ins if their appointment schedule allows (we were accommodated walking-in).
The whole event took about 15 mins.
