On December 31, 2011 I asked my Facebook friends, "anyone know any good tattoo artists in Portland? especially chick tattoo artists?" Â My previous tattoo artists (who had moved to Bend) responded with the name of one artist and then, "Or there's a really good girl at no hope no fear." Â I checked out their portfolios and was blown away with Rachel's style - it was just what I wanted.
I set up a consulation with her and about a year later had myself a beautiful sleeve. Â I only wish I had more money, because I want more from her!
This is the place to go for an out of this world custom tattoo or coverup. Extremely talented artists and top notch equipment. I wish I would have came here first! James is reworking all of my old tattoos and they really shine now. He is beyond creative and really knows what he is doing. I'd come here before anywhere else!!! I'm so proud to wear his work in my body. Trust me, you can't go wrong with No Hope No Fear!
Review Source:Rachel is the BEST! Â I got the most amazing tattoo from her three years ago and have been sending people to her as often as I can ever since. Â She took a very basic sketch, talked to me about what I wanted and what I was trying to convey, and NAILED IT with a beautiful work of art that I absolutely love. Â Strangers comment on her skill when they see my tattoo!
Review Source:Rachel Gilbert did an absolutely exquisite cover up tattoo for me. Â Her original art work was a collaboration between us and was everything I could have wished; it translated beautifully as a tattoo. Â It healed quickly and cleanly, with excellent detail and ink retention. Â She was professional yet friendly and fun to work with. Â
This was the best tattoo experience I've had (I have had 9 pieces done by 7 artists) HANDS DOWN. Â I have had compliments several times a week since receiving the tattoo and have recommended her without reservation. I will continue to go to Rachel for future work.
Absolutely excellent value for a superior artist! Â Go now!
I first found out of James from a friend of mine. Â I decided that I would embark on my three quarter sleeve with him. Â I have to say I love everything he does. Â He has a similar philosophy in life that I do. Â Don't Do Anything Half Ass!!!!!!!!!
He is extremely detailed, knowledgeable and did I mention an Amazing Artist. Â I feel that if you are going to go get tattooed then you should make damn sure what you are putting on yourself is truly amazing.
James has quite a long waiting list. Â Roughly six months. Â Well worth the wait if you ask me. Â He has even written a few books on cover up techniques. Â He is definitely doing more than just putting ink on you. Â He is an active member of the tattoo community.
two thumbs up from me.
I went to Rachel, and she was great! I was on the fence on the design, and she helped me decide, and drew up the best tattoo! I get nothing but compliments on it!
I even went back for a second tattoo from Rachel, and that also turned out to be a beautiful tattoo!
I highly recommend No Hope No Fear Tattoo!
Simply put, James' work is amazing! Amazing enough for me to travel to Portland from the Bay area just to get work done by him. If you are even hoping to get tattooed by James be prepared to wait a long time and pay a pretty penny.
HE IS WORTH IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Being able to wear his art on my body for life is a straight up privilege. But hey, don't take my word for it. Peep the gallery!
