I've been wanting a ring for a while now..just something fake, pretty and sparkly that I can wear everyday, but nothing expensive since I have to, you know, eat and live...so I was shopping around the mall and walked past this place and spotted this gorgeous sterling silver ring with 3 'diamonds' or whatever they call them on it.
Looked at it, gazed at it, employee didn't say anything to me. Place is cheap as heck, so I just walked on...maybe thinking about raising my standards a bit lol.
Came back a second time because I really liked that 3 stone ring and the booth was right near my last store I went to. I asked if I could try it on and the worker took it out for me, didn't say anything. I asked why they were so cheap..(not trying to be offensive but the ring was $25 lol)..
".....what do you mean cheap?"
Me: "Will the silver lose its shine in a while?"
"........"
Me: "Er....well is this silver?"
"...It's sterling silver"
Me: "Okay cool..do you guys offer different sizes..?"
"No."
....Okay then...lol...I'll just put this back....and take my cheap business somewhere else lol. I don't know, I just thought the service was so bad it was kind of funny..she could have at least measured my cheap finger for me and directed me to other rings they had in my size..could have made a sale there lady...just a suggestion!
While walking through the mall and seeing the kiosk, I was thinking about how I actually haven't done anything for myself in a while. I had thought before that I always wanted more piercings... so I figured "why not?"
Was chit chatting with the employee (Desiree) and she was rather entertained about how long it took for me to decide. I was being honest in the fact that not only am I indecisive, but that I was also a little scared about getting the piercing done as I had my first ones when I was 2. She was really patient with me and luckily there weren't many customers... I'd like to think that I helped her pass the time by because that had to be at least half an hr.
After deciding on 2 pairs of earrings (one for the piercing and one because of the bogo sale), we got on to the business while I kept whimpering a little because I was nervous and scared. It actually turned out not too bad. I'm looking forward to getting more done, but probably not here as they don't do cartilage.
I would've given this place two stars, but I can't say I've experienced better if I haven't tried anywhere else.
As mentioned in previous reviews, the piercing is free if you purchase those specifically for piercing, so this was definitely a plus: I checked prices at Claire's, and it was so much more expensive there.
I have mixed feelings about this place, really. I've had good and bad experiences.
There was one time I asked for two piercings on my right ear, and both times, the guy who did it misfired (the piercing gun, I mean) and, err, made my ear bleed. Literally. He dropped one of the earrings on the floor and didn't think to clean it in any way before deciding to shove it back in my ear (I protested. Very much so. My piercing got infected anyway.). I left with one extremely painful piercing and a hole... bleeding... with no earring (gun misfired in the wrong spot). He said I could go back in a couple weeks after the hole healed and have it repierced with no extra charge.
He lied.
My most recent experience with this place--where I decided on a whim to get all my six piercings back (I had gone to the hospital, and they had me take all my piercings out)--was pretty good. The woman who did the job then would check and recheck to make sure the marks were symmetrical (they were, and the piercings came out as such, too), and, err, she didn't remark on my wussiness for requesting that she count to three before each piercing, haha (and she was nice and patient enough to do it).
Yeah. She was cool. My piercings didn't even get infected that badly as they usually did in the past.
Overall... this place is okay. Aside from that one bad experience, my previous experiences weren't all too bad in terms of service (though every time other than my most recent one, my piercings would get horribly infected, even though I did a good job of cleaning and caring for them): they do a good job of explaining the basics (4-6 months before changing earrings; wait even longer if possible; using the provided ear cleaner to clean piercings however many times a day et cetera).
I think they should tell people what to do in case of infection, though, instead of immediately consulting a doctor (hydrogen peroxide and antibiotic ointment). That would have helped my first time getting piercings.
I was hesitant to get my 4 month old daughter's ears pierced by a teenager at a place like Claire's, so going to a place like this eased my fears a bit. They do claim to be the experts with over 30 years of experience.
The selection of jewelry is extensive with various sizes of studs for little earlobes, and it's not too pricey. The piercing is free with the purchase of earrings.
The woman who pierced her ears was very helpful and used good sanitary technique; she gave specific instructions as to how to hold my daughter during the experience and how to clean her ears with the antiseptic at home.
It turns out that my daughter's earlobes are shaped differently (one is slightly bigger than the other) and we only noticed it cuz we've been scrutinizing her newly pierced ears. Just to clarify, it's not the piercer's fault. In fact, she tried making it more even so at first glance, you see the earrings at the same level.
I got my second piercings here.
Better selection of earrings than other shops.
I couldn't decide between a sapphire stone or a diamond, so the lady had me place them in front of my ears to see which I liked more. Yeah I liked the sapphire more. It matched my ring, and it's my birthstone, so why not? I regret it now though because I'm getting tired of seeing the blue, HAHAH. 3 more weeks and I can wear whatever earring I want!
Uh, my piercing turned out to be unsymmetrical. Hahahah. One side is higher than the other! GG. I couldn't tell from the marks she made on my lobe, so I just trusted her judgement. DON'T DO THAT. BRING A FRIEND, HAHA. They pierced with the gun, so yay! Haha.
They do tell you how to take care of your piercing, so whatever they tell you, make sure you do it! I failed to clean in for a couple of days, and well, it got infected. THAT SUCKED. It hurt! It's not infected anymore and it doesn't hurt anymore either! So I'm glad. (:
Free piercing with purchase of earrings.
They don't do cartilage here, but they do at the one in New Park Mall. $2 + purchase of earring.
